I'm a huge Lebanese food enthusiast, and unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. The fattoush salad was mostly wilted lettuce with a heavy amount of sumac mixed in. The dressing didn't taste authentic either (no pomegranate molasses or mint) which was disappointing because I genuinely love a good fattoush. The falafel also wasn't great. It was dry and oversized. Bigger doesn't always mean better when it comes to quality. The people working there were very friendly, and the service itself was pleasant, but the food quality just wasn't for me. My wife and I cane for a late lunch on Saturday. We passed a minivan packed with Lebanese food on the way in. They had received a large order from a local church. One of the employees welcomed us and told us to sit whereever we would like. We picked the one vacant booth. Our server arrived moments later and apologized for the mess. They were so swamped with the catering order that they had fallen behind on bussong the tables. He took our order and returned later with an extra plate of humus and bread - no extra charge. It could have been an extra plate, a free app to make up for the state of the restaurant or genuine hospitality. Regardless of what it was, we appreciated the gesture. I wish I took a picture but I can't speak highly enough about this place from my first visit. The food is all delicious and you can just tell that's it's homemade and old recipes that they've continued over decades. The grape leaves were my favorite, and the cauliflower appetizer was so tasty. Also definitely try the Arabic coffee as it was delicious and kept me wired for a long drive. Lastly, the ownership family are really kind and personable people. Ended up having a 20 minute conversation with Faisal and his son and they're great community members who care about the food and the experience. The tabouli was perfectly balanced fresh parsley, bright lemon, and just the right amount of bulgur. The grape leaves were tender, flavorful, and honestly some of the best I've had. This is the most delicious Lebanese food I have tasted in all of Orange County! The owners devote so much care and attention to their food and customer service, and it shows. Everything is spiced just right, and the meat is juicy and tender. A story that illustrates just how wonderful this restaurant's approach is: when DoorDash got the order wrong, the owners themselves personally drove from their restaurant to my house in Fullerton to rectify the order, giving me a larger portion on the house. After having some subpar Mediterranean food recently, I had to visit my favorite Mediterranean restaurant Zena's. Their taboulli is by far the best I have ever had. It is so fresh and moist with a lot of lemon juice and is served with romaine lettuce leaves. I always order the large size so I have some extra to take home. Whenever I go to another restaurant that has taboulli I'm always curious to try it and see if it is even close to Zena's but it never is. The cauliflower is fried perfectly and the side sauce is delicious. The hummus is nice and creamy and topped with a little olive oil, parsley, and paprika and comes with pita bread. The lentil soup is also very good. I always get a two skewer plate for my main entrée and this time it was filet mignon and chicken but I often get the lamb also. I think they put a new seasoning on the chicken this time which had a nice flavor and the chicken was moist as usual. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. Their basmati rice is also my favorite of any restaurant, so light and fluffy. Don't forget to ask for a side of garlic sauce. Their iced tea is also very good. One of the family members once told me they add lemongrass to it. This is a small family owned and operated restaurant. Everything is made to order and sometimes they may be a little short on staff. We went on a Saturday night and there was only one server. This is not a complaint at all, I'm just setting expectations. The food is definitely worth the wait. read more
