[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a nostalgic place...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Mom came into town, and we wanted to go back to one of our favorite spots growing up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is so welcoming, including the staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the cauliflower to start, which is amazing. Perfectly fried, and tahini dip is so flavorful. We also asked for the garlic dip, which is so potent, but a must. We all got different entrees, and all the meats were cooked perfectly. Need to start coming back more often.

Lamb Skewer Lunch Special with salad substituted for the rice

My wife and I cane for a late lunch on Saturday. We passed a minivan packed with Lebanese food on the way in. They had received a large order from a local church. One of the employees welcomed us and told us to sit whereever we would like. We picked the one vacant booth. Our server arrived moments later and apologized for the mess. They were so swamped with the catering order that they had fallen behind on bussong the tables. He took our order and returned later with an extra plate of humus and bread - no extra charge. It could have been an extra plate, a free app to make up for the state of the restaurant or genuine hospitality. Regardless of what it was, we appreciated the gesture. I ordered the lamb skewer lunch special with salad instead of rice. My wife went with the chicken skewer. She said the rice portion was too large. The food was delicious. The prices were reasonable. The service was good.

Enjoyed our dinner! Everything was very fresh and flavorful bursting with flavor. Great Fattoush Salad and pita. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly staff, plenty of parking, it does get busy on weekends![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bummed I waited so long to try Zena's, but we will definitely be returning!

Lunch specials served on Saturday too.

The place we wanted to eat at didn't serve food until 5:00 so my lady friend Googled for a nearby place that we haven't been to.Zena's came up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone in this family run restaurant was so nice. I loved that the lunch special menu was also available Saturday. We both had the chicken skewer which comes with rice and hummus. We had Pita bread, and my lady also had Lentel soup. This food was so good. We loved the waitress she was the best. Im sure this will be our new lunch spot when we get our nails done up the street

Zensational! This family owned Lebanese restaurant gets 5 stars all the way! The owner is such a great host and gave us such a great recommendation after my party couldn't decide what to order. All the meats are amazing from the chicken, to the filet mignon. Even the lentil soup is the best we've had! Just note that they are closed on Mondays.

I wish I took a picture but I can't speak highly enough about this place from my first visit. The food is all delicious and you can just tell that's it's homemade and old recipes that they've continued over decades. The grape leaves were my favorite, and the cauliflower appetizer was so tasty. Also definitely try the Arabic coffee as it was delicious and kept me wired for a long drive. Lastly, the ownership family are really kind and personable people. Ended up having a 20 minute conversation with Faisal and his son and they're great community members who care about the food and the experience. You won't be disappointed, give them a try! 2nd visit: friendlier than ever, more delicious than ever, and love the outdoor seating ambiance on a nice evening. Still recommend all of you check it out!

I stopped by Zena's Lebanese Cuisine in Orange for the first time and ordered their lunch special the chicken skewer plate. It came with rice, hummus, grilled onions and tomatoes, plus warm pita bread. I also ordered a hot tea with honey. Everything was excellent. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the hummus was smooth and delicious, and the whole plate was really satisfying. The service was great as well--friendly and attentive without being overbearing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also loved the ambiance. It was peaceful inside, not too crowded, and a nice place to relax during lunchtime.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was my first visit, but I definitely want to come back and try more items on the menu. Thank you, Zena's, for the wonderful meal and great service. You all did a fantastic job!

Kabob Plate: Chicken, Lamb, and Beef
    Morvarid A.

We ordered the kabab plate with chicken, lamb, and beef, served with garlic sauce, fresh pita bread, and a house salad. Everything was super tasty. The meats were perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor, especially with the garlic sauce on the side. The pita was fresh and warm, and the house salad was simple and refreshing, a great balance to the kababs. On top of the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can really feel that this is a family-owned business: they care about both the food and the people they serve. Overall, a delicious meal and a genuinely pleasant experience. Highly recommend if you're craving authentic Lebanese food.

The two wines...the Monte Bello was overkill but it was my birthday week and month ;-) The Story of Soil Dan brought was nice too.
    Sidney S.

Lebanon was at one time known as a nation that rose above sectarian hatred; Beirut was known as the Paris of the Middle East. All of that was blown apart by senseless religious wars, financed and exploited in part by those who sought power and wealth. If women had been in charge, would they have been more sensible? It's a theory -- Roger Ebert Maybe the world would be better if women were in charge. Maybe the madness in the Middle East would be handled without the madness. Without the greed, racism, lust for power and religious dogma that is destroying the birthplace of so much wonderful cuisine. Stopped here in Zena's on a slow Saturday night during my birthday week to meet Dan H. We brought lovely wines to go with the soulful cuisine. Service was leisurely and not rushed. We stayed past closing. The ambiance is hole in the wall but the kebabs were very good. Zena's has been around forever, I first came here maybe 15 or so years ago, in safe secure Orange County. If only the rest of the world could live in such a peaceful bubble. Highly recommended

Across the street from Trader Joe's, we wanted to order everything here! The food was delicious and our server was super nice. Although the eggplant dish was not ready, the okra was amazing! Beautiful decor throughout the restaurant. We ended up taking our food home and ate it at our hotel for dinner. Love it!

It's only about 7 minutes from the parks, making it the perfect lunch or dinner spot if you're craving something flavorful that won't leave you feeling heavy. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The spinach pastry was hands down my favorite, perfectly flaky with a delicious savory filling. The potato pastry was a close second and just as satisfying. If you visit, don't skip the pastries! We also tried the steak and chicken kebab combo plate, and both were cooked perfectly. The chicken was especially tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. You can actually watch the meat being cooked fresh in the back, which made the whole experience feel even more authentic. I ordered the veggie plate with falafel, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, hummus, and tahini sauce, and every single item was delicious. The falafel really stood out. It had a perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior with a soft, flavorful center. Dipping it into the baba ganoush, hummus, and tahini made every bite even better. One of my favorite things was that the meal was incredibly satisfying without feeling greasy or overly heavy. It was fresh, filling, and packed with flavor, but I still felt great afterward. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, and the service was impressively fast. They also have a great selection of Mediterranean spices if you want to bring some of those incredible flavors home. Huge compliments to the chef and the entire team. Between the fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent service, Zait Zataar has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite Mediterranean restaurants. I placed an online order for the baked fish plate around 12:45 PM and expected a bit of a wait since it was fish. After waiting about 25 minutes, I called and was told it would be another 10-15 minutes. The restaurant was busy, so I understood. However, after waiting longer and checking inside twice, my order still wasn't ready and there seemed to be confusion about its status. In total, I waited close to an hour for an order that was placed online in advance. What bothered me most was seeing customers who ordered in person receive their food before me. It felt like my online order had been overlooked. If online ordering is offered, those orders should be monitored and fulfilled properly, especially during busy times. The food itself was good, but the plate could have been put together better. The fries were placed directly on top of the fish, which made them soggy and took away from the presentation. It would make much more sense to serve the fries on the side. Overall, the food is still good, but the long wait, confusion with the online order, and lack of attention to presentation make me hesitant to rely on the online ordering system again.

So glad I finally got to stop by many years later for dinner! Parking was easy (on a weeknight). Plenty of street parking and many open meters but I can see it being very difficult on weekends. I went on a Thursday night and it was slammed. They do not take reservations but they do have a waitlist via toast that you can join while you walk around and wait for your table. Plenty to do and see on 2nd street. We ordered the party platter for 4 people! It was the perfect amount of food with leftovers to take home. Everything was cooked to PERFECTION. Our beef was a textbook medium rare and was so juicy and tender, as was the rest of the meat. The chicken was so moist and flavorful, as was all the shawarma. All meats were seasoned beautifully. The rice underneath was stunning as well and really caught all the juices from the meat on top. The roasted tomatoes, onions, and pickles were the perfect compliments to help freshen up the palette during the meal. The sauces were amazing and there was a clear favorite (the garlic sauce) which was annihilated by all four of us. Service was friendly! It was very packed so it was slow at times but understandably so. They come by and give you orange blossom water for your hands post meal - what a treat! We smelled amazing! NO NOTES FOR OPEN SESAME! I have to come back with more friends! We did have an issue but it was with another patron who had the audacity to yell at my table (while I was in the restroom) for "having too much fun"?!?! This is a public restaurant and it was loud as hell in there because it's tight and everyone talks over each other, not to mention the open kitchen. The energy in the restaurant is exciting and frenetic. Ambiance (5/5): Although we didn't sit inside, it was super cute, with classy boho vibes. The restroom was clean and well-decorated (although, not gonna lie, I don't know how I felt about the big mirror facing the toilet). The outside patio area was airy, and although right by the street, I didn't find it unpleasant. Service (3/5): It was just so-so. They sat us down quickly, gave us our menus and checked on us maybe twice. It wasn't super busy, but we had to wait to ask for things like extra plates and water for our dog. Food Overall (5/5): Food was delicious. We got the beef shawarma lunch special and got fries for the side (extra charge) and also the chicken shawarma lunch special with the hummus side. Beef Shawarma (4/5): It had a nice toasty flavor, perhaps from the spices, and the pickled veggies really complemented it. My only complaint was that I wish it had a bit more of the white sauce (maybe adding more hummus would have helped). It was also strangely a bit watery, maybe from the veggies. Overall, it was still a yummy wrap. Chicken Shawarma (5/5): The chicken shawarma tasted more balanced to me overall. I don't recall the meat being dry, although I did also slather it with a bit of hummus. I thoroughly enjoyed this wrap. Fries side (5/5): Their fries are made in house and it tastes so fresh. It was crispy on the outside yet still gooey and moist on the inside. I'm not sure if they make their own ketchup too, as it looked clumpier and tasted really fresh too. The kids gobbled this up. Hummus and pita (5/5): It came with a generous amount of both hummus and pita. The hummus was well flavored and blended, and it really complemented everything on the table. The pocket pita bread was not what I had in mind (I'm used to thicker ones), but the kids really loved it overall. Ice cream (4.5/5): We ordered two scoops from the dessert menu. They were both really thick, creamy and almost chewy like liquidized mochi. It was a very interesting texture but nonetheless a nice tasty treat on a hot day. I much preferred the vanilla bean, as the pistachio tasted and looked rather artificial (and I'm a pistachio ice cream lover). This place had so many to-go orders during the afternoon we were there. I can see why. Food is super fresh and tasty. I think we will be back the next time we are visiting.

We had a baby with us so we asked that we be seated away from any hookah, and they really honored that request and made sure nobody near us was smoking. The food was decent, well seasoned and tasty, but nothing mindblowing. Slow to arrive but it seemed like this evening in particular was just a new kind of busy for the restaurant. In any case, I think if you've got time to sit and chat and wait for food and service, you won't feel it as much, but we had a baby, and a group of hungry adults who felt every minute of the waiting. Ordering is entirely self-service via a digital kiosk, with no staff on hand to assist you. 3. There are no bathrooms available anywhere on-site. Regarding the food, it was just okay-- a bit underwhelming, especially given that Lebanese cuisine is typically so flavorful. The chicken was dry, the hummus lacked depth, and the rice was bland. I also ordered tzatziki and they served us 2 good sized pieces of freshly made pita. The chicken was marinated and grilled perfectly. I usually eat 1/2 and take home the rest. I ate every bite. We both enjoyed our choices. I'm not a big garlic sauce person, but my friend loved it and cleaned her serving cup. Our waitress gave each of us a baklava finger, for dessert. No charge. We received excellent service, from the hostess to the waitress. They also have 2 bakery counters so my friend ordered some baklava fingers to go and plans on returning to try some more goodies. Overall, we had a 2 hour catch up lunch and a really tasty meal, without being rushed. I will be back.

I particularly love their hot appetizer plate that includes the cheese rolls and kibbeh. Unfortunately their service and dining experience recently has made me question if I'll be back again. Their space is very small so a table for 6 people is really uncomfortable. On top of that, their serving dishes are massive and the service staff is unaware how to put the dishes on the table because the table is so small. There were only 2 people waiting tables which caused for a lot of frustration from the staff. They also rarely stopped by our table to clear out plates which again we needed some plates gone because tables were so small. Recommendation, more people need to work at the front and y'all need bigger tables. A $330 meal (which included $50 service charge) where the service was rough was not worth.
