We have been loyal customers since the beginning that they opened in Montebello. I have personally never been inside as my husband is the one that purchases. First impression the store is impeccable, looks great. The cuts look great. However they do not give you the pieces that they weigh for you. They add in fatty pieces in between when they are packaging it. The chicken had all of the seasoning stuck to it, not mixed. I had to wash it off. Overall, I went to this spot based on referral. This meat shop was out of the way and had a difficult time in the tight parking lot. I was told their Mango Habanero marinades were a must try. When I ordered the short older guy had a I don't care attitude. I asked for the unflavored asada to be marinated. So he ends up telling me the last few pieces of the marinated asada is the same thing. I know it does not take long to marinate meat and this guy didn't want to do it. All other prime asada places I've been too give me no trouble when it comes to marinading the meat. The establishment was clean and organized. Your thoughts overall? 2/2 Have been here twice. Both times, they had different butchers and cashiers, and both times ended up leaving with a smile on my face. Everyone here has been very kind and helpful. My favorite cuts so far have been their picanha and short ribs. One detail on the short ribs that may interest some. On my first visit, all of the short ribs hadn't been precut yet, so I was offered the option for a different cut size than their traditional (which I believe is half an inch?). This was not possible on the second visit since they had all been cut to the same size already. I still took some home despite the cut I'm not used to and still thought they were great. The meat was marbled, tender, and delicious. What surprised me a bit was the skirt steak. I usually like that from most spots, but I think the reason I didn't care for it here is because they remove the skin/fat that usually covers it on both sides. I prefer the way it tastes when cooked with the fat. It comes out more tender too. I also tried some of their pre-seasoned chicken thighs and thought they were okay. Bit bland to me. They have some really good salsa here. Tried their red one on our last visit. Fresh, spicy, and flavorful. On my second visit, I asked if they could recommend a spot for lunch, and they referred me to Tamales Los Angeles on Whittier Blvd and thought they were delicious. Expenses.
