Every hour here is happy hour... there is a special for every meal, including brunch every day which is fabulous. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is wonderful. The breakfast/ brunch tacos are only $1.50, and three of them with a tall mimosa are the perfect amount of food and booze for a Sunday brunch. The salad that comes with the pasta special is HUGE, definitely can be shared between 2 people. I've been here twice, both servers have been a pleasure. Really this place deserves a 3 1/2 star rating. The food is solid and very reasonably priced. Their house salad with added grilled shrimp is more than I can eat, even when shared! Shrimp quesadillas are also a standard go to. The bloody mary bar can't be beat, and daily specials are a draw for a lot of the clientele. It's a bit dark inside but serves well for those who want to watch any of the tvs around the bar area. As many have said there is a mixed blend of live music, so the place can be hopping later in the evening. For daytime patrons, the outdoor area allows dogs which is a bonus (at least for my little woof). Peabody's may never be "destination dining" but it is a great neighborhood staple. read more

Have been here three times now, I must say that the staff and employees are always on point! Although there has been construction over the past year the staff stays consistent. The bar has great deals and food so anyone could enjoy. The environment is relaxing if you're inside or outside. THIS IS THE ONE! The single worst, most blatant, egregiously mean and unilaterally unprofessional customer service I have ever received anywhere I've ever been. Hands down. AND SHE CALLED THE COPS ON ME FOR BEING EXHAUSTED FROM DRIVING NONSTOP FOR 8 HOURS+. Walked in at 8:30 AM after a long exhausting drive and the bartender immediately gave me a scathing look, and became confrontational right away. I ordered two mimosas and a breakfast taco and she rudely poured my drink but never handed it to me. She stared at my ID for like three minutes, made me take my glasses off, waited another minute and refused to make my other mimosa and kicked me out. My ID was valid, I am 21. I took the one mimosa she'd made and paid for it, and sat down to have a cigarette. She wasn't happy with that either, and demanded another $1 for the taco I ordered and she never acknowledged. Before I could respond to her ten rude gestures in a row she crumpled up my bill and the dollar I'd paid already, "you know what.." She shrieked and stormed back inside, tersely warning of police intervention if I didn't leave after my cigarette. My 26 year old friend took his leave at this time, having had enough of her insanity. I figured I'd stretch out and finish the cigarette like she'd said I could. It was barely half-smoked when she burst out the doors with a phone in hand, already talking to the police.. Something about "he won't leave the property" and that I was "obviously on lots of drugs". Yeah if you consider Monster Loca Mocas, exhaustion, and that watery pityfuck of a mimosa to be "tons of drugs".. Quite literally the worst service I've gotten from anybody in any industry, without question. On a side note, the younger lady I briefly chatted with a few minutes earlier had been lovely, which is why I stopped for a drink in the first place.. She had evaporated completely in the two minutes I had stepped into the subway next door to use the restroom though. read more

Great happy hour food and prices. Had their pork ribs ($0.75) (super tender and meaty), and their turkey tacos ($1.50) Both were yummy! They have some sort of live entertainment each night. Last night's band was a Led Zeppelin cover band. They also have an $8.00 corkage fee. We drank our first bottle, then went next store to the market and picked up a second bottle! I've been several times and haven't had any bad experiences. I typically get some type of salad, which is generally a solid 3 or 4 stars. The buffalo wings are really good with just the right amount of heat for me. I'd give them a 5. I love the Bloody Mary bar. I don't recall the price ($2.75 maybe?), but it was a good deal. They bring you the vodka over ice and you go create your own drink with juice and topping choices. I had Clamato with hot sauce, celery salt, pickled peppers and a celery stick. read more

I am going to have to agree with the earlier reviews I read on this place...middle of the road consistently, and leaning towards bad. The same waitress/bartender is on duty pretty often when I go in, which is rare, and if she doesnt know you as a regular, good luck getting a drink or food in a reasonable time. I actually had to walk up to the bar to get menus after my wife and I sat at a table for 10 full minutes without even a hello or a water. Now the odd thing is, I have friends who love this place, but I can tell you they exist on cheap food, so their judgment is not to be trusted...and the waitress knows them, so they get great service. It is unfortunate, because this spot could be much better. It has foosbal (neglected table), pool and darts (also neglected) and a decent selection of beer and food, although the food is hit or miss. Seems like the returning local boozers keep it in business, like some other local eatery/bars, but I would not recomend it to anyone. 1.5 stars...keep trying. read more

Used to love this place. Now its horrible. Drivin out by one particular bartender who is so rude,but yet they keep her and fire all the nice ones.....??? There is also a sewer smell that comes from the drain behind the bar UUUUCHHH. The bathrooms are way nasty, they only take cash and the drinks are the worst, but they charge a premium for crappy drinks. The owner litterally makes them measure a shot down to the drop. That maybe OK at the trendy places but this is a dive bar. Dive bars should have great drinks and coolbartenders....none of this exists here. Lots of homeless and laundrymatters here as well. The Open Mic at Peabody's on Monday nights is becoming a very very very cool place to be. I sign up for my 10 minute spot every week. The other artists are sincerely, mind blowing good sometimes. Jay's got the best sound going there, better than I've ever experienced at an open mic (been to A LOT). It's rock n roll, it's free, it's supportive and edgy at the same time. You have to try it to get what I'm talking about. And if you are simply there for the pleasure of being entertained by raw and confident artists, this is a rare and sacred place. At least for me, I'm hooked. Be there every week. One more thing, when artists team up spontaneously on stage, unplanned, unrehearsed, with just love and the joy of making music together, unfeared, then you see the 'sacred' thing bout it. read more

The one star isn't for the food, because we never got any. Walked in on a Sunday night and were told to sit anywhere. We chose a hi-top table in the bar. It was moderately busy with several open tables throughout. We sat at our table for over 15 mins and not one of the several servers stopped by or even looked at us. We just came back from this place and we are so stuffed and happy!! They have the best fish and chips!! I went there with my hubby and 18 month old daughter. My hubby ordered onion rings and 1/2 lb hamburger and I ordered fish&chips. 1/2 lb hamburger: I did not eat this, but my hubby liked it. Onion rings: It was very crunchy and crispy. It did not get soggy when we brought some back home. Fish&Chip: Fish was AWESOME!! I got two huge pieces. I really mean HUGE!! My daughter has a small face, so one fish could cover her face up... It was very crunchy and crispy outside and very juicy inside. The tartar sauce that came with fish and chips were so good. It has a bite from pickles and red onion, I am guessing... Everything was just the way I love it. I could barely finish one fish, so my hubby had the second piece and he loved it too. Their fries are crispy and thin. If you like thin fries, you are gonna like them. You could actually split one order with two people. It is located right off I-5 Encinitas Blvd exit, so very convenient too. This place gets it. It is for people trying to enjoy their few hours off. Singles, couples, kids, plumbers, students, lawyers, musicians and unemployed all welcomed. The food and drinks are much better than anywhere else around for the money. Not even close really. Many locals know and come daily but people from all over tend to return when in town. . There first credo, in writing around the place, is: "No A%&holes". The friendly vibe Reminds me of the "Stage Door" bar in Vegas or The Waterfront Downtown S.D. I have been a regular at Mr. P's for a few years. It is absolutely the best place in Encinitas for breakfast: consistent quality, wholesome food at very fair prices. The staff is friendly, inviting and accomodating. There is one server in particular whom I would like to recognize. Her name is Michelle. She tries to know everyone by name and if she is near the door she greets you when you enter. Whether you are in her section or not, she takes care of any need you have. What can I say. This place serves powerhouse breakfasts for the same price as Denny's, but here you get far more value. I just had the sausage and egg breakfast. Wow. I came in, sat at the bar, ordered a cocktail as well as a to-go order of their tri-tip sandwich and one of their sides of mushrooms. 20 minutes later I got my to-go order. I checked it, no mushrooms. Those were for me. Sandwich was for my bf. I let the bartender know, she checked with kitchen, came back and told me the mushrooms were on the sandwich. Apologized said that the kitchen misunderstood and would have it remade right away. 20 more minutes waiting, she brought me a bag, this time I assumed it was correct and left. I get home and my bf opens his sandwich. It's the same one I sent back a half hour ago, full of mushrooms, now cold, and cold stale fries. So I just spent 40 dollars on a $3 side of mushrooms for me and a $10 cocktail. Absolute ridiculousness. I won't be back. And to top it off still have a hungry bf. read more

First off, according to my bill this place definitely is more than one dollar sign. Comparatively, I was at red robin the other day had a 20 oz Sculpin IPA for $8.29, premium beer premium price, a 16oz beer runs $8 at this one dollar sign place, not crazy but $6 for a shock top...now we have reached crazy. In a shopping center I would never expect to pay such an outrageous price for such a cheap beer. On to the food, the prime rib was pushed and it was worth the price. Fatty and tough, what I expected ordering food from here, so I can't complain and I guess maybe that was a dollar sign. Loud live music so if you have no desire to hear the rest of the night because it will reverb through your body the rest of the night then the ambience is good for you. One time visitor and never again. EPC is where I'll go when I want premium beer at a decent price with some grub. read more

My friend and I were visiting San Diego and looking for a lowkey place to go and we were extremely pleased with Mr. Peabody's. Our waitress was incredibly nice, the food was great, and the live music was amazing! The prices were the best I've seen in San Diego. I was expecting the food to not be very good because of how cheap it is but it was even better than a lot of the over priced places we went on our vacation. Update- the prices have gone up a little since my last review. Our server this past year has been Robyn. She is amazing. During this long hot summer she started setting our table in advance with iced coffee. Both regular and decaf! Sometimes the bar fills up for breakfast and Robyn is on her own. She greets everyone with her beautiful smile and a pep in her step. you just have to start your day off feeling good. The breakfast quesadilla with bacon is my favorite item on the breakfast. The quality and freshness of the food is still very good. Our breakfast club continues to meet here on a weekly basis because of the amazing service and decent prices. I "ABSOLUTELY" love everything about this place! They're food menu is great and everything I have tried from menu has been delicious! Love they're MYO Bloody Mary Bar and the ambience environment. I'm 43 yrs. old and this place is an older age group bar not your typical college student younger immature crowd. All they're employees here are awesome and friendly and they're prices are very affordable!
