Order: two piece catfish dinner with fried okra. The service was fast. The food was okay. Lots of places in Jax don't season their fish filet and just add the seasoning on top. The seasoning is really good but if you're not eating the breading, the fish isn't seasoned (because the fish just sits inside the breading; and it falls out when you pick it up to eat). I was busy so I had some wings to dashed to me. this edgewood store is the worst. very nasty with the customers and with the people we rely on to bring the food. I wanted something as small as a strawberry soda that they advertise. They dont have the items on the website and they will just send you anything and when you call to talk about it the worst customer service ever. she was nasty and did not know how to talk to the customer. I will not spend a dime with them ever. I have to agree with Bill N. My first experience at Mr. Snapper's (at their old location) was epic! I was really looking forward to the shrimp basket ($8.99) I ordered via DoorDash and when it arrived, I was surprised to see how small the shrimp were and not as good as I remembered. It came with a vinegar based hot sauce on the side, but it was OK. I don't know what happened?! Should I have ordered something else??? I'm giving them 2-Stars as I write this review because I know from past experience, they could've been better. And I will probably order the calamari and/or chicken wings next time because I want to support local and I know these guys can do much better than this one experience. read more

This location on Edgewood is total scum. They have been given multiple chances to provide excellent customer service and failed each time. This last time was the last straw. I ordered the fish sandwich special and there was no sandwich in the container just the fish; they have little girls that just came off their grandma's porch taking orders WRONG, nobody has time for foolishness if you want to run a business remember that your cashier is the face of your business and if they lack communication skills they should be washing dishes or sweeping the floor! Never ever again!!! I ordered from these people and got Fish and Fries and also Wings , gizzards and fries . The gizzards was disgusting. I thought I was eating overcooked human body parts or a foreign over cooked animal that's wasn't a damn gizzard. Which Gizzards is what i ordered! they were so hard . TBH, I was hesitant to order fried delivery. It left a lot to be desired. Nothing was crispy or hot. But the biggest disappointment is that they sprinkled something all over my food. The food is always great but the customer service is not. They are always out of lemons,lemon juice etc. Some of the cashiers are a little clueless. I asked for lemon juice and she comes back with lemonade?? ‍‍‍‍. They also need a littlte more personality training. Atleast say hi and bye to the customers. The food is good. But the staff is rude especially the young man that is a family member of the owners. He instructed one of the young ladies taking phone orders to hang up on a customer requesting prices. If restaurants lobby is open then the restrooms should be open for use especially for customers to wash their hands. The food quality here is much better than I would have expected based on the outward appearance of the building and fairly sketchy side of town it is located. The fried catfish I ordered was fresh, perfectly crispy and delicious. I'm not fond of crinkle cut french fries but those were freshly cooked and pretty decent. This restaurant is in my neighborhood. I can not afford to go there often; I go when I can. I only eat chicken and prefer chicken wings, so I usually go for the 5 pieces wings with fries. The powder on the wings and fries is everything, without it the food is rather bland I'm sadly to report. Make sure that powder is on your food before leaving the place otherwise you are going to find other ways to personally season it. Great customer service. - First off, let me say, that Yelp should offer minus stars for those of us that don't feel the business deserves even one star. Mr Snappers used to be one of my favorite seafood places. You could actually go through the drive-thru and leave with a freshly cooked, seafood dinner. Unfortunately, that has changed the last few months. I have to say, they had to have had hired a new cook. The shrimp now, are fried too long. They are overcooked, they are dry, and chewy. They are fried to the point now, that the crust is a super dark brown, to the point that if they were fried any longer they would be considered burnt. They're using some different type of coating, that scratches the top of your mouth like Captain Crunch cereal! Anybody that's eaten Captain Crunch, will know where I'm coming from with that statement. That's the best way I can describe it. They also have some type of seasoning that they sprinkle on top of your food. I've never liked it, so, I always order mine with no seasoning. But, if you don't tell them no seasoning, they don't tell you that they put it on there. It's an acquired taste, so, I think they should let the customer know that they do have a seasoning that they sprinkle on their food. Because, someone could get their dinner home and not prefer that seasoning, the same way that I did. I found out the same way, when I placed my very first order with Mr Snapper. It was all over my food. I didn't like the seasoning, so, I gave my food to my brother-in-law and he ate the shrimp and fries. They used to have a light seafood coating on it, that really complimented the shrimp and it was always fried perfectly. The shrimp were moist and still had that nice, slight sweet taste that fresh shrimp does. But, now, it's a totally different restaurant. I don't know if they've changed management or if they're cutting back on costs, by cutting corners on quality cooking oil or breading for their food. The first time I noticed it, was a couple of months ago. I went through the drive-thru and ordered the same meal that I always order, with a large sweet tea. When I got home, that's when I first had my experience with the overcooked, dry, chewy shrimp and the watered down, weak tea. That's when I called to complain about my dinner and found out that if I were to bring it up there, they would replace it, but, they would not give me my money back. I chose then, that I did not want to have to get dressed again to go out and have to drive back up to the restaurant. I was tired and I just wanted to eat my dinner, that turned out, I wasn't able to eat. I ended up putting a pizza in the oven. I didn't think that much about it being bad that night, because every cook can have a bad night. So, a couple of weeks later, I went back through the drive-thru to order my same order again. Unfortunately, that visit was exactly the same. The shrimp was again overcooked, coated with that crust that tears up the top of your mouth and the tea was weak and watered down. Again, I did not go back up there to get another dinner, because I felt I would get the same thing again, since the same cook would be making my order. But, I decided tonight I would give him another shot. This time though, I ordered the fried shrimp and the livers. Their livers have always been excellent. So, I opened the box, I knew I wasn't going to eat it. The shrimp were again fried to the point of oblivion and instead of livers, I had been given gizzards! Plus, that awful powdered seasoning was all over my food! Tonight, it was cold and drizzling rain. The last thing I wanted to do, was go back out in the weather to get my dinner REPLACED instead of a refund, only to be given the same crappy food. I thought it was just the shrimp that was being done that way, until I ordered the livers tonight and got gizzards instead, that were fried hard. This time, I got really mad and the reason being is that Mr. Snappers is not cheap. For me to get a shrimp dinner with a large tea it is $21.30. That's not cheap! I could go to a restaurant like Cedar River Seafood and enjoy excellent seafood and it would be less expensive! I didn't even eat one of the shrimp because I could tell by looking at them that they were going to be hard and dry and had that nasty seasoning all over them. Totaling the three dinners that I bought there the last three times that they've been awful is almost $70. They're sweet tea is normally awesome! Because now, the tea is weak and watered down. Being here in the South, sweet tea is a big deal They don't want to give you a refund. They want to replace your food. I didn't want to drive back up there in the cold, misty rain, to exchange my dinner. I want my money back. Anyway, I've wasted enough of my money the last three times I've gone up there to teach me a lesson that it's not going to change. So, this will be my last review for Mr Snappers.
