This place surprised me! Came in around 5 pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty quiet, but I was greeted and seated quickly. I ordered the bento box with spicy tuna roll and chicken teriyaki, and instead of rice I asked for double salad. Bento is served with a miso soup. As I waited for my food, this place filled up quickly!!! Wow was my food plentiful. The roll was huge! And the salad was great. The tempura was 1-2 shrimp, 2 beef gyosa and some veg. Chicken teriyaki was 2 all white breasts, and the sauce was great. I can't wait to come back here and try their speciality rolls. Before all this COVID-19 stuff, my hubby and I were making it a point to visit different sushi places in Santa Clarita. A neighbor suggested that we check out Mr. Sushi so we made a date night out of it. We went around 5pm on a Saturday and we were seated immediately and slowly the place was getting packed. TERRIBLE SERVICE... our waiter was soooo bad....sushi was thick , fishy, and warm. Soups and hot teas were lukewarm, and served almost at the end of our disaster of a meal. my tempura shrimp had a huge hair running through the batter. Se all just gasped as I picked it up. As I picked it up of my bento box. I was so embarrassed to have experienced this with my party I was treating to lunch I wanted to cry. I use to love this spot... ITS CHANGED.... Not a huge restaurant, so there were no tables available for 2 on a Thursday evening. We opted to not wait and just sit at the bar, which proved to be the better choice as the sushi chef was much kinder than the server. Our food came out very quickly. We got the albacore delight roll, sexy roll, and spicy scallop handroll. All were tasty and fish was fresh; not melt in your mouth fish but still of good quality. Great little place in a shopping center! Very busy had to wait 20 mins. They were out of Uni what a bummer. The air conditioner was blowing but it still could of colder. They said the air tech guy is coming on Monday for a check up. But it was ok. The fish to rice ratio was off to much rice. At $29.95 the rice should be less! If that was done I would of given this place 5 stars. They left two items off the first order so we reordered it. We missed items on the second order also and after two hrs we had to leave. Unfortunately I couldn't say something this time cause I ordered from UBER eats and they did not add the avocado to the handroll which I paid an extra $2.00 for , last time I paid extra for soy paper and they put it on sea weed, extra charge for that too. The chefs do not pay attention to the request and you will waste your money. Be aware, check your take out orders, the chef's don't pay attention or don't care. read more

WOW where do I start. Despite how busy it was, our waitress were cheerful and served us within 5 minutes! The OMG roll and the 911 roll were ABSOLUTELY INSANEE! 10/10 would recommend these rolls. The owner was super chill and had a short convo with us even though it was rush hour. They rly value their customers and it shows. We also ordered the original ramen. The portions were much larger than we expected and definitely worth the price!! Broth is not too oily and the perfect amount of savory, and the meat cuts were soft and delicious. 4 of my favorite dishes are Japanese dishes, Korean food, Steaks and Italian cuisine; but probably Japanese dishes tops the 4 kinds for me. So in the Valencia/Santa Clarita area I live in, I have been to pretty much all Japanese restaurants, and I would not hesitate to pick Mr. Sushi as the top. In taste, performance per price and service, the place rules. (If I have to be picky about the place, the only weak point for me would be that it is not a quiet place. It's not very noisy either, but it can be somewhat noisy, especially because it is so popular and the dining hall usually fills up while there is not much sound-absorbing interior material installed.) I have tried other places and they would be on the expensive side (Achita Sushi), the food is not tasty, or something was wrong (eg, the raw fish smelled like chloride). With Mr. Sushi, this never happened. One of their strengths is their Bento. It has one more item than other restaurants', it is very tasty, fresh and abundant in amount and the price is very moderate that I believe the owner's word that they it is their promotional sacrifice item to induce clientele. Last Saturday, I had the bento with sashimi and sushi choices. I couldn't finish it; so I took it home and finished it as my Sunday breakfast, heating it up in my microwave. I couldn't believe how still tasty and rather fresh the rice and fries were. Their service is pretty good, the waiters and waitresses being nice. And the owner (especially the lady owner) is really mindful that the customers get to eat quality food. Whether it is some traditional dish like bento or chirashi, or some exotic roll, Mr. Sushi never disappointed me. P.S. Our church also tried their catering platters twice and we got a real good treat each time. Great "performance" (ie, taste and amount) for a very reasonable price. P.P.S. Typically I enjoy going to Mr. Sushi, however the last 2 times I've gone I've had the same horrible service. I always order the chirashi when I go. Everyone at my table received their food and was almost done and my chirashi bowl still was not out. We asked about it and she went over and put it in the computer. No sorry for the delay, let me comp you for forgetting, give you an ice cream nothing. She never came by to check on our table (she didn't the time before either). The good: There is plenty of outdoor dining available here with heat lamps, covered tent, cute outdoor lights and the fake grass rug. They even jazzed up the parking lot space with faux plants to make you feel like you're somewhere nicer. The menu offers a lot of delicious options and the prices are very fair considering how large their portions are. I tried the mixed tempura, BSCR roll, shrimp tempura roll, morning glory and hot night roll (and one last roll whose name escapes me). The BSCR roll came with TONS of mini scallops. The morning glory was the most unique and refreshing roll because of the sliced lemon wedges on top. The tempura came with a variety of vegetables and shrimp. I liked that the rolls weren't too heavy with rice and that the rice had a soft texture. The rolls also come with plenty of fish/core ingredients. I definitely look forward to coming back to try more of their menu options. The bad: The outdoor parking lot tent area has a slanted floor so your table might be a bit slanted.
