After being out of SCV for a year, we couldn't decide what to eat but knew we wanted a beer and relaxing atmosphere. We decided on Mr. Sushi and Alex provided great friendly service. When our food came out, you could see they did not skimp on their fish, the presentation was picture perfect, and Alex was attentive. The sushi chefs are all friendly, good music playing, none of that club music, but relaxing chilling jams. Later, Edgar came to check on us, & he too was very nice. This was my first visit to Mr. Sushi and I can guarantee that it will not be my last visit! Absolutely 5 stars! I would give more if I could, actually. So, while the outside dining (thanks to the c0vid) isn't ideal, because of the exhaust from the cars driving and parking, the white tent helped a bit to block some of that out. I just wouldn't recommend sitting at the open end of the tent near Valencia Blvd., as a large truck parked there during our visit and it was rough. The smell from the truck was v bad. Anyways.... We were told we could seat ourselves and we chose under the tent, compared to the sidewalk tables. They get very busy during lunch, but that's to be expected. Ordering was pretty quick and our rolls were brought out pretty quickly, too. Everything we ordered was SUPERB! The Oysters Ceviche was so good, and the Teriyaki Chicken my guest ordered was the best chicken I have ever had. Seriously. I am not a huge fan of chicken unless I can cook it, but this was so tasty. I loved the Veggie Tempura! A tad greasy but not a deal breaker IMO. Service was good; just so hard to hear the servers speaking due to the masks. But, no worries! Come here for the sushi! Arrived at 5:30pm. No one acknowledged us for more than 10 minutes. Place was nowhere full. Once we finally sat down I asked for an Albacore roll but with salmon instead of tuna. I've requested this every time I've come with no problem. They do no have a non-spicy salmon roll. This time they wanted to charge me $3.50 more!!! They'd never charged me extra before. When I complained the waiter suggested changing the fireball roll to non Spicey (and remove the tempura shrimp) which ends up being exactly what I asked for the first time! But no added charge??? I didn't want to leave a 1 star review about this restaurant as my family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. And the food has always been superb, the chefs are amazing and friendly. However our last 3 visits to this restaurant (within the last 2 months) have been subpar with the last visit being truly unenjoyable. Nothing to do with the food but the service was not to the standard we remember. 2 employees a server and bus boy or host (couldn't tell as he was doing both) smelled of alcohol. One burped as he served our food and my sister was too disgusted to eat the dish brought she asked it be made again. Another who was serving food had very dirty hands, blank stare and glossy eyes like he was high and tipsy. We had asked him multiple times to bring us chop sticks, napkins and a missing dish we ordered but never got them and had to ask a female server to help us. Our last visit we kept being served the wrong items, food and drinks we had to tell the server our order all over again as he couldn't remember what we ordered and was reading off the wrong table order. Our server smelled like beer and sweat it was very unpleasant to be served our food even though we know he didn't make it it just made the experience unpleasant. read more

I gave this place another chance last night. Sat at the table for 2 and ordered Panko Shrimp Temp, Baked Mussels, Chirashi, and a Dragon Roll. The quality of the fish is very low. Who serves raw tilapia? They should not call fried shrimp "tempura". Such a misnomer tells me their level of knowledge. The mussels were stiff and the flavor was nothing to desire. Chirashi was pretty sad. Lots' of fillers with cucumbers and no decent fish in there. The quality and the freshness were lacking. Even their ginger tasked off. My guest who ordered the Dragon Roll only took 1 bite. Told me there was no flavor and the fake crab meat filler was tasteless and "odd". The menu was ripped and dirty. I can feel the grease and it hasn't been disinfected. Their menu is a reflection of their cleanliness. I read a few people complained of food poisoning in this review. The total bill was $110 with drinks. They can serve this stuff but I disagree with their pricing. I also read many positive reviews here, but I always questioned the people's level of culinary expertise in this town. I at lease gave it another chance. There are many other better options in this town or just drive down to the valley. read more

Go there on a Friday night with a party of 3 and it's busy. No worries, waited 20 minutes. Get to my table and they cleaned the table, but don't even bother to check the seats. Some noodles left over but thankfully only had 3 people so I could sit elsewhere. Again, waiting for a long time to place an order. Sounds like they're understaffed. Finally order and wait 20-30 minutes to get sushi. We finish some rolls and were interested in more. We're waiting again lol and then our server tells us that he missed telling us last call because he's training someone. I'm still good but my buddies are still hungry. I've been coming to Mr. Sushi for a couple of years now. And honestly, their sushi & ramen has been amazing, I love their spicy tuna rolls and original ramen recipe the most. The service can be slow sometimes when the restaurant gets very busy but I don't mind it. The ambiance, it's kind of dark on the inside and packed in but if you really just focus on their food and how good it tastes, you really won't care. I recommend Mr Sushi to anyone, A+++++ read more

After 11 hours of driving on the road from NorCal, we just needed a place to stop and have our kids eat dinner. Being Christmas weekend, everywhere was packed. But we found Mr. Sushi. And while it was also crowded, the reviews seemed to indicate it was worth it. It didn't disappoint. Good food, good portions. And maybe it was the 11-hour road trip exhaustion speaking, but the rolls tasted really good. The only downside - and this is being very nitpicky - was that it wasn't super spacious, and our table was a little cramped. A little tough, even if our toddlers hadn't been stuck in a car for the last few hours. Still, the service was solid, the food refreshing. And it made for a much-needed sushi rest stop on our drive to SoCal. And even though we don't live in the area and will likely never be back, we'll still be forever grateful to Mr. Sushi for its crucial role in our road trip. read more

The tables are way too close to each other. If you are a big person sorry no offense but you won't be able to get through the 2 feet spaced tables. If you suffer from social anxiety not the place to dine in on a busy evening. We got there at 5:40 and it was good. 7ish is when it started getting busier. I like the prices 911 Roll $10.95 (pretty spicy) Philadelphia Roll $10.95 (personally not a fan of raw salmon but my friend says it had a good ratio of ingredients) Dragon Roll $11.95 (really tasty with the shrimp tempura in the roll-good touch) Sauce The spicy mayonnaise was a bit too spicy for my taste Spicy Mayo & Eel Unknown Eel Packaging Well done since nothing was squished.
