Don't be fooled by the surroundings as it may look like a sketchy location but the truck is legitimate with mexican street eats. There's several proteins here; I went with the carnitas, lengua, and carne asada. The carnitas is probably the best with the fatty flavor of the pork. The lengua and carne asada were dry although seasoned alright. Corn tortillas are ok, a bit flabby when you pick them up. I always thought they'd heat them on the grill but they didn't do it for these. The Papusas are messy and greasy but have a decent flavor to them. Price-wise, inflation has caused items to go up. Maybe it's a Louisiana thing as prices are lower in Texas. They have plenty of porteins to choose from including barbacoa, pezcado (fish), tripa, camaron, and pastor. Nachos, Gorditas, Tostadas, Quesadillas, Sopes, and Huaraches are other eats available for order here too. If you're in Hammond, check this place out. There are only about four tables on the patio, and while two tables were being helped by separate servers, both our table and another nearby table sat unattended with menus the entire time. The servers in that section spent most of the time laughing and talking with the tables they were already serving while completely overlooking the unattended tables. Even the hostess walked back to the patio area, looked around, and still no one was sent over to assist us. At that point, we decided to move to the bar once two seats opened up. We were helped shortly after sitting down, although the service still wasn't great. The bartender who assisted us came across as uninterested and not very pleasant. We started with the queso, which unfortunately came out room temperature. The pastor tacos, however, were hot and fresh. We also ordered a frozen margarita flight, but by the time the flavors were stirred in, the drinks had already melted down quite a bit. One positive was the lady working behind the bar, who was attentive despite not even being the one serving us. Overall, this visit just wasn't a pleasant experience.

The tacos are good size and tasty once you squeeze the lime on it; especially for the traditional kinds like the lengua/barbacoa/fajita with the onions/cilantro on them. The fish taco had a cabbage slaw and a baja sauce on top; not bad but I probably would've preferred ordering more of the traditional tacos that were part of the Taco Tuesday special. Of course I did just that by telling the bartender to order another round of those tacos since they were cheap. I forgot to mention to change the fish so they brought out another tray of the same ones I ordered the first time. I thought about saying something but figured I was the one who ordered it and it's my responsibility; so I finished them with a full belly but a smile on my face. These are probably the best tacos I've had in Louisiana. I've been critical of the taco/mexican eats in that state so I'm glad to come across some tacos that are actually worth ordering.

The menu features a number of Latin American favorites, with interesting original offerings as well. Today, my spouse had the taco salad and I enjoyed the chicken Arepa with plantains. Arepas are a Colombian dish, featuring thin corn meal cakes encasing meat and other goodies, and in this case a tasty purple cabbage slaw. Very tasty! Empa Taco is highly recommended!

The food came out seasoned well, tasted great, and felt like a solid value for the price. The only small hiccup was that it took a bit of effort to get someone's attention when we needed refills, but aside from that, the overall experience was really good. Yo-Yo's continues to be a go-to spot in Bogalusa, and this location in particular never fails to make the visit enjoyable.

I always choose to not get rice, beans and tortillas so I can not speak to that. They did accommodate my request for subbing all of that for all of the toppings. You only get a choice of 2 and those are guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and pico. Super happy they swapped me out. Now the chips and salsa... that could use some work. Was not bad by any means but would maybe not get them again. The salsa was more of a "bought" flavor that they may have added some chopped onion in to to fancy it up. Again, not bad but nothing special. All in all, good food and decor is your typical Mexican restaurant. Would eat again when I'm in Bogalusa for lunch for sure.
