Fun night celebrating a birthday with a family member. We came here for good food and fun and we were not disappointed. We started with the chips and salsa, I asked for the spicy option salsa and the waiter bought over this delicious salsa. I went with the Combo Fajita with Shrimp, Chicken and Steak. It came with rice, refried beans, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Flour tortillas on the side. Everything was very tasty and the service was good. The building was an old chain resturant that was converted to this mexican style resturant. Only negative is there are almost all Booths and very few tables with pull out chairs. read more

This place if great if you have kids. Lots of them were there when we went for dinner on Sunday. The food is sufficiently bland for kids and older folks. Our main reason for trying this place is that there's a vegetarian section on the menu. The buy-one-get-one margarita helped redeem the experience. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner. I had the carne ranchera. It was cooked perfectly. 5 of the people I was with had never been here before. We all loved the fresh salsa. Our server was good but we didn't see him alot. My rice and beans were kind of cold. But I've eaten here several times and I will be back. Solid Tex Max restaurant, appears to be new or recently renovated. Carbon copy of most Mexican restaurants around the corner. Nothing to complain about, food was as expected, and service was good. Believe due to the growing area south of Tampa the prices were higher than expected, but nonetheless got what we paid for. read more

It's a super fun restaurant with its style and look and the servers are very nice when you come in. I had fish tacos and I found them to be tasty, my husband ordered burritos and he said his tasted pretty good. My only 2 things were the chips (&salsa) had a very strange flavor that I didn't care for. Will have to try those again on a second try. And once we got our food we couldn't get our water filled -kept trying to get his attention but that was a no. We choose not to get a normal beverage because we both just had surgeries and we are on antibiotics. We will go again and have a better idea next time of how it is! But over all 4 stars! read more

I go here from time to time with my brother when I just need a bite after a long day at work. I have tried quite a few different things, and I will say, this place is good. Pricey, but I believe that the price is somewhat justified. Their carnitas is excellent (hard to find authentic, fried carnita with that much flavor around here). Their asads is a strip steak... and that is great! That is like the best meat for asada. Their nachos are awesome. Their rice and beans are fantastic. If you ask, they will give you salsa roja, which is decent (nothing special, but it isnt bad). They have great service too. Ive gotten a blonde waitress three times in a row now, and she has been very nice. Doesnt bother us much, but checks in occasionally, and got me the roja when i asked. Grabbed some lunch specials to go at the new Colonial Location. Food was quick, hot and very tasty. Chicken was delicious. The lunch specials were reasonable and came with sides. The rest of the menu pricing seemed a bit high but quality costs and if our lunch was any example of their quality, its got value. We will be back. read more

We were craving Mexican food and saw the good reviews, so we decided to stop by. We were seated promptly, no wait on a Saturday night at 6:30pm. We were greeted quickly and our order was taken fast! Everything we chose was very good. I liked the juiciness of the ground beef in my taco and my cheese enchiladas were melt in your mouth. The cheese dip as a starter was great and everyone else said their choices were amazing. I did feel like the plates were a bit overpriced for competitors in the area. It felt like everything was between $16-19+ on the dinner menu. I understand times are tough and everything has gone up, but when I can eat the same meal, just as delicious at a nearby place, I'd choose to go to a more affordable spot. Had dinner at the Estero location while visiting relatives. Didn't know what to expect, as this is a chain operation. Interior was very clean, service was friendly and attentive. Did not order alcohol. Free chips and salsa were good and the large order of guacamole was fresh , chunky and delicious. Stopped in here on a whim as we had to wait for a few hour tire repair next door. Thank goodness they are dog friendly on the outside seating as we had our pup with us! I ordered the tacos Al carbon with steak. These are the best I have had anywhere. I highly recommend them! My husband ordered the steak tequila. We came in an hour before Yelp said they were closing. There was a girl at the front entrance sweeping and she kind of glared at me like "what are you doing here?". I felt kind of unwelcome and turned off. My friend wanted to eat here and we were running out of options that were open late. The skinny margaritas were not "skinny" at all. They used to ton of sour mix and orange juice, when in reality they should've used lime juice. They were so sour they burned my throat. I couldn't justify paying $15 for a drink that was so bad. So I didn't order another. I will say that the food is outstanding. When the Placencia Family expanded their fifth Mr. Tequila Mexican Restaurant in the former AppleBee's in front of Springhill Suites by Mariott and Embassy Suites by Hilton near Interstate 75 exit 123 in December 2021, I was estactic. May be I can have a few shot(s)! We just finished our morning shopping and in need of lunch. My wife suggested, Mr. Tequila. Oh, the timing was off and simply too early to have shot or shots of Tequila. Anyway, we stop by Mr. Tequila for lunch. We love the renovation done to Applebee's. The menu is the same as other four locations. Of course, they have Burritos, Chile Rellenos, Chimichangas, Enchiladas, Fajitas, Flautas, Tacos and Quesadillas and other Mexican plates. I ordered a pint of Modelo on draft. I didn't mention a word of Tequila shot! She ordered Enchilada Yolanda - three beef enchiladas with cheese and red salsa, refried bean and guacamole salad. It was tasty and flavorful! I ordered El Cancun, grilled salmon and shrimp with mushrooms, tomatoes, pineapple, Pico de Gallo and guacamole and rice. The salmon was slightly overcooked otherwise it is fine! The staff is friendly and professional. Before our entrees arrived, while picking on the chips and salsa, I was still thinking if I can finish this pint fast, I can still have a shot of Tequila. I tried their taco salad. On the plus side, there was a lot of chicken,and the shell was good. However, they were very stingy with sour cream and guac. We ordered beef nachos from the Estero, FL location, delivered by Uber Eats on 10/3/2025. The Uber driver was good, but the nachos were missing all of the toppings. I paid for extra guacamole, but got no guacamole, no sour cream, no pico,nothing. Just beef on top of chips. Horrible experience, never again. read more

Overall an average experience. My daughter had the chicken fajitas and I had the shrimp Texito. The food was okay but was not enough to go higher than 3 stars. Service could use a bit of training. While she was pleasant she was not attentive. Salsa was really mild and watery. Guacamole lacked flavor and the queso was really bland. All easily fixed but it would have been nice if it all didn't need doctoring. read more

The Resturant is very nice and clean looks almost new maybe it is. The food was pretty good they didn't bring my fajitas out sizzling and someone after us came in ordered fajitas and they were sizzling so that was a little disappointing. My wife had the polo loco which was better than my fajitas. The chips and salsa were ok as the salsa is very runny, I like a little bit thicker salsa that's doesn't run off the chips like water. We were on our way to St. Pete and after crossing Alligator Alley we decided to stop and get some lunch. It had good Yelp reviews so we went in and sat down to enjoy lunch. They have a huge menu and all the pictures look awesome. The server was very pleasant and constantly checking to make sure we didn't need more water or soda, which was great. He brought over a basket of chips that were thick and flavorless - Tostito's tasted better than these did. And the salsa? Ketchup mixed with water and a few onions. Blech. I ordered 1 Soft Taco - Steak, with lettuce and cheese and beans ($3.50) and 1 Soft Taco - shredded chicken, lettuce cheesed and beans ($3.50) and a diet coke $3.00 My steak taco was GOOD! I realty liked the flavor of the steak. However, the shredded chicken was sloppy and wet, making the tortilla tear apart and was absolutely tasteless. YUCK. I pulled most of the chicken out and barely finished it. We shared an order of refried beans ($2.99) and they were just passable. Very thin and runny. My friend ordered 2 soft shredded chicken tacos and a diet coke as well. She was very unhappy with the gloppy mess and lack of flavor in the shredded chicken. Honestly, Taco Bell has a better chicken taco. And I rarely go to Taco Bell unless forced too. They are all very nice. We had dinner at the new Mr Tequila in Estero, Fla tonight. It's only been open 4 weeks. Our waitress was very good offering suggestions and being ever present. I had the Burrito Grande, a burrito with shredded chicken, rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and verde sauce. My wife had the combination chicken quesadilla and veggie enchilada meal served with rice and beans. Both dishes were generous portions and quite flavorful.
