Been coming here for years but recently I had a terrible experience with their current management and won't be coming back. I took my car in at 1:30 PM on a Saturday and even had a 2:30 PM appointment. I didn't hear anything from them all day and called close to closing and had to leave it overnight. Then the next day, I didn't hear anything all morning. Finally I called and asked when it would be ready they said 4 PM. Fine. 4 PM comes and they call and say closer to 6. So I get a ride over there at 5:30 and it's still not done. They weren't ready with my car until 6:45!! Then, when I complained it took over a day they said they tried to install the wrong parts and my car wouldn't read it right, so they had to go to Maryland to get the right parts. They never told me any of this until I went to pick it up!! Prior management there would have called at least. And they would have charged me close to $1900 for struts and differentials -- I checked with copilot AI and it says they charged me twice for the differentials. I talked them down to $1789 cause the wait was ridiculous, imagine if I had waited there! But I'm not going back and I strongly suggest uploading your receipt to AI and compare results with other shops. Plus they gave me attitude for complaining about the wait! Then they try to tell me my lug nuts are bad. And want to charge me $300 for new lug nuts. I know the lugs are not bad because I just changed my brake pads a few weeks ago. I ask him to show me, and he proceeds to try and fit a socket that is clearly the wrong size onto the nuts. Just a big scam. They thought I was an idiot and were going to try to fraudulently charge me for lug nuts I didn't need. I told him to just give me the tires and I'm going somewhere else. When I got home I tested every single lug nut with the correct socket size and each one came off and went back on as smooth as butter. This place commits fraud. Do not go here. read more

Anyways, said OK and told them I had a Groupon. Manager would not accept it because the Groupon bar wasn't "green" even though I showed him my phone and the app and my purchase. Tyrone, the manager, told me dismissively that there was nothing he could do and to contact Groupon. So I left, went up the street to the Colombia pike location. Ended up paying $65 when a patch job normally only cost $40-$50. Less than a week later, my tire is flat again due to this patch job clearly being bad. When I called to ask if they would fix it I get told no and would have to pay another overcharged price of $65. I don't plan to ever return here and strongly advise against coming here. Why pay more for less, it's a blatant rip off. I went to Mr. Tire having ordered a new set of wheels and tires online. They were delivered to the shop, and I requested that the shop transfer my OEM tire pressure monitors (TPM) to the new wheels and tires. They did this for three out of the four tires. But on number four, they BROKE the TPM, tried to spackle it back together poorly, and didn't have the guts to tell me about it. You can imagine I was pretty surprised when I started getting TPMS fail lights on my car. When I finally brought it to a reputable repair shop, they showed me the piece, which had remained, broken in my tire since Mr. Tire on Four Mile Run Drive so badly mutilated it. Want to know how much a new one costs? $250 plus labor. Mr. Tire, through their complete incompetence, broke my car parts, and didn't even have the common decency to tell me. I caution you to stay far, far away from this shop if you value your car and its OEM parts. read more

I've never left a negative review ever.. I scheduled an appointment at 7:30 AM to change my tire. I arrived at 7:28 AM and one person was there, but he said I have to wait for someone else to come in because he doesn't change tires. He said if I can't wait, go to the other tire shop down the road but my tire was completely flat and wasn't going to risk driving on it. I waited for 50 minutes before the manager came and turned the lights on in the building. it is now 8:21 AM and my car is now getting worked on. They get two stars because the job was good, but There's no reason I should've been put on the schedule at 7:30 AM if no one was going to be there! I had to miss work and the whole point of having an early appointment was so that I did not have to miss work. Came to the shop and the guy told me that my car (2017 Nissan Pathfinder) only takes full synthetic oil after he had swiped the coupon (no longer eligible for refund). I have never used full synthetic oil before and it runs just fine. He said the added cost would be 68.00 more to do the job...What idiot would pay 108.00 for an oil change? A few days later, I came back to have it checked because the tire was losing air, and was told that I had "another nail" and that I needed to buy a tire. The "second" nail looked exactly the same as the first one (I have pictures from both days), and was exactly in the same spot where the first one was. I almost lost my car's engine On October 3rd, I went to Mr. Tire on Four Mile Run Drive in Arlington, VA, for an oil change. The next day, a warning appeared on my car's dashboard indicating a problem with the engine oil. I hadn't driven the car much since then, but suddenly, on October 17th, I received a warning that the engine oil was depleted and I needed to stop immediately. Fortunately, I stopped at a nearby mechanic, who added oil and informed me that "the previous shop that did the oil change did not replace the oil plug and that they found it damaged". When I returned to Mr. Tire to ask for clarification, they told me that they do not change the oil plug during an oil change and that there was no evidence the oil plug was damaged during that process. They said this could happen at any time after repeated oil changes. However, I still have a lingering question: why did this happen immediately after I had my oil changed there? I asked a third technician for their opinion, and they responded: "Yes, a technician can cause damage to the oil drain plug during an oil change. This can happen if the plug is over-tightened, cross-threaded". Fortunately, I didn't lose the car's engine after all this. read more

I've been here a few times, it was fine and the first couple times they tried to help but I've been turned away far too much at this point. They've kept my car all day without doing work on it when I was told they would have it done no problem (tire repair, and headlight was out). Today I went in for a tire patch, the nail was well within the area where it could be repaired they they said "we can't help you" and told me to go to a gas station. Your name is Mr Tire and you have no solutions? Should be called Mr. I can't help you but you need a full set of new tires...(which I bought previously at this location). I went to this auto shop long ago but stopped when they claimed they roasted my tires but didn't because I had marked the tires. I decided to try them again years later only cause they are conveniently close by. I asked them to check my front brakes. They came up with an estimate of $1610.70 telling me I needed to replace the rotor drums, brake pads, and both calipers, and brake fluid exchange. I went to a different auto repair station (Ben Nielsen's Skyline Automotive) and said I only needed the LF brake caliper and bleed brakes. They charged me $896.00 and that included an oil change!I've learned my lesson, no more Mr. Tire for me. Beware everyone! read more

My pregnant wife and I recently visited DC and experienced a flat tire on a Sunday afternoon after touring the. monuments downtown. We frantically called around in search of a few locations who could assist us in a timely manner. There were a few, but this one seemed like the best option because I started a new job the next morning and needed to get home "on time". From the moment we stepped inside, Theiska and her crew at Mr Tire treated us like family and not strangers from 400 miles away. She helped clearly explain the product and pricing options available and then did her best to ensure their team worked on our car as soon as possible, ultimately besting her estimate by over an hour and a half. This allowed us to get on the road sooner and get home before 11pm. I truly appreciate the genuine customer service (especially on a Sunday afternoon) and the friendly people at this location. Sometimes crappy things happen but when, by chance, we meet nice, helpful people, it makes those experiences memorable and this is no exception. Dear Curry, I still like you guys because of convenience, but my last trip there for state inspection was a little disappointing. I called to find out if I needed to make an appointment, but you said the inspection was first come first serve. Fair enough. You told me there was only 1 other car in line. Working less than a mile away, I hopped into my car and was there in about 5 minutes after the call. I was surprised to see 3 other cars squeezed in between the "start" of the line and the garage door. I ask if I can drop off the car so I can return to work and that way you could work on it whenever convenient. No such luck, because your shuttle service doesn't apply for state inspections. Grrr. So I left and had the state inspection done at the Exxon station next to my work place. Based on other people's reviews along with my own experiences, I think I see a pattern of over/understating things, or making over optimistic claims. My first bad experience was with the shuttle (read my previous glowing review). But what I left out of the review, was that on the return shuttle trip I waited, and waited, and waited for you to pick me up (add to that my cell phone battery was dying). Each time calling to find out you were only a couple minutes away. I thought no big deal because y'all are mechanics and not taxi drivers. But today, you tell me only 1 car is in line, failing to count the other cars "in between". Please don't make empty promises, or unrealistic claims. I know you don't need my business because you are conveniently located near the DMV and have a steady stream of customers, but my first experience there was wonderful and would love to repeat that. Thanks, Don ---- 5/27/10 update ----- So I write up my review and only a few hours later I get a call from the general manager. At first I thought he was upset at me for lowering my 5-star rating, but quite the opposite. He was upset at the Curry team. He explained the situation to earn back my confidence...and assured me he will try to take corrective measures so customers don't leave feeling that Curry has over-promised and under-delivered, but exceeded their expectations. Although they don't do shuttle rides for state inspections, they would have made an exception for me since I work so close-by. I own an electric scooter and my tires were low on air. I pulled into this shop and asked for help. Mohammad came out and said after he finished helping another customer he was already with, he'd take care of me. Whoever he was helping, they were from out of town and moments later Mohammad brought them their car and said they were good to go. They were ecstatic and thanked him profusely. I called before coming in and asked how much it was gonna cost me for a new tire and installation. On the phone, I was told it would be only 5 if I buy the new tire. I was happy with that and asked for an alignment too. Turns out installation only is close to 30, plus the tire cost, plus a miscellaneous fee for waste disposal, after charging tire disposal fee. The only selling point for this place is their proximity to the DMV. It took me forever to get my inspection done. They would roll in a car not from the line after every car with an explanation that they had called ahead. Seriously?!? I did not know there was a "call ahead" service for Vehicle Inspection. The technician was good and prompt though. They charged me $28 instead of $16 for inspection - the ticket even said $16. I realized this 30 minutes after I had left the place and promptly went back. The nonchalant way in which the person at the service desk refunded my $28 and charged me $16 makes me believe that they make this "mistake" quite often. See the price for inspection is $16 and price for Emission is $28 so it is "common" to get mixed up even though the ticket says $16! They depend on your ignorance to get by. Mr. Tires is no longer in any way affiliated withe the old Curry's which I previously reviewed. I just returned east and visited to get some easy battery work done on my son's car. As soon as I walked in I noticed the clean waiting room was no longer inviting. The formerly spotless Curry's bathroom is now filthy. Most importantly the mechanics bay used to be clean and organized now is haphazard and jumbled. I did get the electrical assessment I needed but they wanted a core fee if I left with my old battery. $230 to replace a '98 Jeep battery is not reasonable and to add a core fee to that is silly. None of the old mechanics remain. I will not be returning. Time to find another high end high quality shop for my car. read more

Took 2016 Subaru in for State Inspection, noticed a scratch during inspection immediately after and brought out manager to see it. Within a minute guy who had inspected it was out there and when I told them I had looked the car over and it wasn't there before I was greeted with cursing and attitude. Worker jumped in my face moving into striking position three times before manager intervened and pulled him away, lots of cursing and threats. Worker then came back out a few moments later a threatened me personally. Had to call police the cursing and threats were so bad. Will take police report to Mr Tire Corp bit doubt they will do anything. My advice is to stay away from this shop work is bad, management non-existent, workers are violent. Tl;dr - terrible communication, bordering on lies, does not instill trust. Friday 7/7 dropped car off for the below things. Was confused because it used to be Curry's. Dave was the fellow there and explained that they've actually been transitioning to Mr. Tire for years, they're just now changing the branding, but it's the same staff and same great service. I figure, not like I have major work needed and where else would I go. I describe the things I've brought the car in for: -Overdue oil change, by a little over 1k. -the e-brake light comes on when I'm accelerating up a hill in first gear -front right tire probably has a leak, have to put air in it every 3/4 months -need safety inspection (I'm a year overdue because I'm not good at remembering to look at a sticker right in my face). Dave's very nice, comes out and pops the hood, looks like my brake fluid is low which might be causing the e-sensor to come on when on an incline. Says he'll call tomorrow before lunch (so, Saturday). At this point my car is operating just fine. I don't hear from them that weekend. Monday 9:05 a.m. I have a missed call. I don't have voicemail, but I assume it's them, call back at 9:36. Not Dave (I can't remember his name, but he's important to the story and is not Dave) answers and says you need to talk to Dave, I'll have him call you back. Monday 4:01 pm I get impatient and call them. Dave answers. Tells me I need all new tires and all new brakes. A little over $2k. I'm bummed but I've basically had no maintenance to deal with for this car for 8 years so I'm like welp it's time. He says he'll call me tomorrow when it's ready. Nothing. Thursday (3 days later) I call. Dave says 'oh we left you a voicemail on monday'. I say OH REALLY. 1) you and I talked on Monday afternoon and you said you'd call me the following day. 2) I don't have voicemail so that's actually impossible. Are you saying my car is ready? I'm salty and rude. Friday p.m. I go pick it up. Dave is there, apologizes for the miscommunication (he and the other guy got their wires crossed on who was contacting me), I apologize for being a B on the phone, and he rings me up. We're in a good place. I go outside to leave.. and my car won't start. Dave hears the sound and is already on his way with a battery-jump-starter thing. jumps it, says drive around for 15 or 20 minutes, it will be fine tomorrow. I ask a few times, to confirm. I do that. All weekend, every time my car started, it hesitated; like sounded like it was struggling to start, and cranking it always felt treacherous. Monday, 7/17 6 pm, i come back. Dave's in there, I tell him what's going on. He comes out, tries starting it, sees what I mean. They run a battery assessment test. Dave shows me the printout, it's supposed to be like 600, but mine is down around 250 (I might have those #s wrong, but short story is it was not good). He says you'll need a new battery at some point, but could be tomorrow, could be a year from now, he's seen both. I'm like well eff, there's no good place to be stranded and need a tow, we're on the same page, time for a new battery. He says 'I have one, we can swap out in 25 minutes.' I end up waiting around until 7:30 (closing). Apparently there was no battery there, someone was driving it over 'from the warehouse'. Dave at some point left, and Not Dave tried calling the person transporting the battery a few times, but person never answered. Finally we give up and Not Dave drives me home. Today I pick it up, Not Dave rings me up, car starts fine. I get about a mile away and realized the 'oil change sticker' hasn't been changed. The one thing I really *wanted* out of this whole ordeal. I pull over and call to check that the oil was changed. Not Dave pulls out my file and confirms I got a conventional oil change. That's when I was like wait.. I use synthetic, not conventional, always have. Not Dave: 'you told me conventional.' Me: 'when?' Not Dave: 'when you dropped it off.' Me: 'well I dropped it off with Dave and only talked to Dave that day.' (Bc I distinctly remember talking to Dave about the currys/mr tire switch. Him: oh, I'm not sure what happened. OUTRIGHT LIED. I had him repeat it.. so, you heard conventional oil? And you're sticking with, you heard that from me? "Yes". I just hung up. Long story short- *maybe* they do great mechanical work, but I'm not even sure I got an oil change given all the lies and miscommunications, and it's making me question whether I definitely needed all new tires and all breaks (I'll accept some blame for that, should have gotten a second opinion). They need to learn to better communicate with each other (front house to the back of the house to 'the warehouse') and communicate with their customers (don't lie). I'd been going to Curry's for 10 years, and I'm heartbroken to see what has happened with the Mr. Tire transition. read more

I had my 1994 Ford Ranger in to replace the ujoints on Aug 3 2019. I don't really drive the Ranger much I thought I heard a sound when I stopped, I drove for about 110 miles since the repair and didn't pay much attention so I needed a tuneup on it so I took it to another auto repair shop while there I ask them to check the ujoints. I was told that the rear joint was loose and grease was coming out. I took it back to Mr Tire and had them to check it and was told that nothing was wrong this happen 2 days before the warranty ran out. They will fix it but I had to pay for the labor. If anyone thinking about this Auto Service to do work I would not recommend this company. This use to be an outstanding company as Curry Auto it has since gone down hill. LRW read more

I am posting a copy of the letter I sent to Customer Service regarding the experience I had today. Avoid this place. I was lied to outright and subject to "bait and switch" tactics. And I wasted four hours of my life at this place today. To Whom It May Concern: I am writing with regard to my experience on 3/6/17 at the Mr. Tire ( Curry's Auto Service) located at 4160B S. Four Mile Run Dr., Arlington, VA. I visited the store with the purpose of getting a vehicle inspection. Upon arrival, I was told by the individual behind the front desk that there were two customers ahead of me, and that it should be taken care of in an hour to 1.5 hours. I indicated that was fine, and sat in the waiting area. The individual took my keys at this time. A little over an hour later, I had received no updates and had noticed that several customers had come and gone, including customers that came in after me and were served and left. I went to the front desk and asked the staff member (a different individual than the one I had previously spoken with) when the car would be ready. The guy apologized and told me that my order "was never put into the system" and that it would be another half hour to 45 minutes. I was a bit frustrated at this point, but sat down to continue my wait. A half hour later, the staff member approaches me to tell me that my vehicle would not pass inspection without a new tire. He said that they only had one tire in stock to fit my car and it was a Yokohama. He quoted me a price of $87.50. He said it would be another half hour or so before my car was done. I agreed to the cost and tire replacement and sat down. At this point, I had been at Curry's for just over two hours. Approximately 45 minutes later, the staff member says my car is ready and begins to ring me up. He quotes me a total of over $180 and states that the tire was $150. This is nearly double the initial amount I was quoted. The original staff member I spoke with came over, and both began arguing with me that 1) there was "no way they would have quoted me $87.50 for a Yokohama tire" and 2) that they could "take that tire off and put a discount tire on instead." Note that the staff member had previously not only quoted me a different price, but also indicated the Yokohama tire "was the only one in stock." Clearly, they were lying about at least one of these points. At no point did either apologize and/or indicate they misquoted me originally. Ultimately, they knocked $20 off the cost of the tire and $10 off of the inspection fee. I am extremely frustrated with this experience and will never return here. I feel as if I have been the victim of "bait and switch" tactics and extremely poor customer service. I wasted nearly 4 hours of my life to be overcharged for a simple vehicle inspection and deceived about replacement parts for my car. I will tell everyone I know about this experience.
