The suspension in my car was acting up so, I took my car there to get an estimate for the repairs. They were very nice and friendly people they came back gave me an estimate of over $1600 to repair my car. So I told them that I would go get the parts myself and purchase them so then they could install them. They seemed fine with that, but the manager for some reason got upset and just walked away from me like I had the plague. I didn't know why that was happening, but after I purchased all the parts, I took it to another place to have it installed. The mechanic at the new place said they were completely ripping me off. They even had me order parts that didn't even go on my car, not didn't fit, they didn't work on my car. they weren't part of my cars suspension. This place is a complete and total rip off. Don't go there, Jennifer the manager is a jerk. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away. So I realize the reason she became so upset was because she knew we were gonna find out that they were ripping us off. Why can't people just run affair and honest business? read more

Work done on vehicle was good but the only part of my visit is the price of parts. I know I paid an inflated price for my repair. The parts for my vehicle would have cost me less than 10% of what I was charged and I could have bought 10 of what I had done to my vehicle. Will not return and will not recommend to anyone. I just called your Penn Hills location and the "new" manager was very rude and unaccommodating. I purchased tires in the wrong size (by mistake of course) and I returned them the next day, expecting a refund. I waited 5-7 business days only to be told 8 business days later that there are no refunds and I'm free to come back to the store to re-claim my tires even though they are useless to me. I have a receipt, and I explained the situation to Otis the "manager" who told me that he was not here when that happened and he will not issue me a refund. I asked for the corporate # and I am still on hold!!! Poor customer service... just give me my $400+ back this is terrible!!!!! read more

Bought a Groupon for and oil change. $60.00. Took it to Mr. Tire and The whole thing ended up costing me $107.00. They told me that I needed two more quarts over the five on the Groupon. An extra $47.00. Come out to $23.50 a quart. Which I could have bought at Dollar General for under $6 a quart. Never use Groupon again nor will I go to Mr. tire again. read more

Never again in life! I usually went to Ventrice Auto for my automobile repair work, but the owner Rocky passed away and the service hasn't been the same since so I decided to give my local Mr. Tire location a try as my wife went there previously and they seemed to do a good job on her car. I was working about an hour away from home each way and was putting a lot of highway miles on my car so it definitely needed some love. I needed a state inspection done, had a check engine light on and needed new tires installed and an alignment. They performed a wheel alignment and balance and put on a new oxygen sensor to take care of my check engine light. They said that I needed new rear brake rotors, a rear caliper and brake pads so I had them do them also. They did a brake fluid exchange too. My hood kept falling so I had them replace the hood supports while they had it. While they had my car in the air they bent one of my backing plates causing my car to make noise every time I turned. I took it back and they somewhat fixed it but it still makes some noise so I just drive with my windows up. Take God for great Lexus sound deadening! What pissed me off was the fact that I keep $10 in quarters in a closed compartment in my car for parking meters that someone from Mr Tire either stole or left my car unlocked and some one else stole. Either way it's unexceptible that after spending almost $1600 with a company that they would be so hard up to steal change out of my car. Thank God I removed everything else of value from my car.  I asked the manager about it and she said that she knew nothing about it. My car has been to five other mechanics and my change was never touched. If you would steal change out of a car how do I know that you wouldn't steal from me by telling that my car needs something that it really doesn't? They also claim that they broke my factory wheel lock. I believe that they lost it and couldn't find it. How do you break a wheel lock cap? They did replace it with a aftermarket one at least. I will only use the Mr Tire location on Mosside Boulevard in Monroeville for tire rotations or flat tire repair work and will never patronize this Mr Tire location ever again! read more

Dayna is literally the greatest manager in a mechanic shop I've ever encountered. She is so nice, funny, and KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! I've been coming to this Mr Tire on Rodi for over 5 years, everything from tires to calipers to brakes (shoutout Dayna iykyk lol) to inspections, and even when my car is making the most horrible noises I've ever heard I always get great, fast, and amazing service. On a Sunday, I scheduled online to have four new tires installed at the Rodi Rd location the following Wednesday. Wednesday morning they called 30 minutes before my appointment to say they had to order the tires and expected them to arrive that same day. The employee had no answer to why they didn't order the tires Monday or Tuesday, or call me sooner to let me know I needed to reschedule. He said they'd call me when the tires were in. No one called. I called for a status that evening, spent 5 minutes on hold, and decided to go elsewhere. Mr. Tire called the next day to tell me the tires were in. I explained why I decided to go elsewhere and the employee hung up me. Go to Costco, which expects employees to be professional and provide good customer service. read more

I brought my car in last Saturday to install a new set of tires I purchase on Tire Rack. When I got there, they couldn't find them. I wasted about 2 hours of Saturday morning sleep. I had to call UPS and Tire Rack to make sure they were delivered. Dale (one of the managers) wanted to correct the wrong and ordered the same set to be delivered in the week. I would have given them 5 stars if they didn't lose the tires. Sure enough, I got a call from them (Brandon) this past Tuesday and they installed them the same day (took about an hour). They even paid for the installation fee and rebalancing fees. So, thankful for that. Definitely made it right. I still don't know where the original shipped tires went, but the ones I got installed were great for my car. They have a pretty small waiting area (5-6 chairs). It has a table of magazines and a small tv with a dvd player. They do play relatively recent movies (Enders Game and Hunger Games). There is also a pretty clean bathroom down the hall. I do have to say, waiting for my car, you see the interaction between customers and "front office" people (Dale, Brandon, Peter). They do a great job in servicing the car and taking care of the customer. They know pretty much all the customer names. That shows you the great service they provide. They provide everything from tires, to PA state inspections, to quick oil changes (they'll even let you know if you don't even need an oil change yet), to new belts and brakes. If I had to go back, I definitely would, even if it's 15-20 minutes out of my way to get there. If you're looking for a good basic mechanic/garage, go here. read more

Went to Mr. Tire because my car was shaking and losing power. They informed me that a rodent chewed through my wires. They got me fixed up quick for a decent price. But while fixing the wires, they broke something on my windshield wiper line and lost the pegs that held my hood liner up. After informing them of this, they said they would fix it, no charge to me and scheduled me an appointment. When I went in for my appointment a week later, another mechanic told me that this was not communicated to them and I have to come back tomorrow and speak with the mechanic who scheduled me. Took the car the next day and was told that the part has to be ordered and they will call when the part comes in. Another week goes by, no call, so I call in, and was told the part is too expensive and they will get it from the junkyard. I go in the next day, and they are now saying they are still looking to order the part. I told them I called in yesterday and someone told me the part is too expensive and they are going to get it from the junkyard. They sent me to Monroe, their sister company, where another mechanic works at both locations and he said he doesn't understand the run around and he can put the part on if I purchase it. This was not what was initially told to me, I was told everything would be paid for. This is bad customer service and the part is still not fixed. read more

AVOID! I have been going to Mr. Tire at Penn Hills (Store #888) PA for 2 years. I have never questioned the service I have been told I needed. I took my car into the shop on Friday Aug. 16 at 3 pm for PA state inspection. When dropping my car off, it was making no noise, had no problems. I picked my car up on Sunday, August 18th at 3pm. Upon paying $931.92 for a new exhaust (cadilitic converter had already been replaced - so from it to the muffler) and a drivers side front wheel joint, I began to drive home, only to notice once I got onto the interstate that my car was making more noise than when I took it in. (It was also suggested that I get my front brakes replaced, but I was told I still had 2+ months out of them) My steering wheel was shaking like crazy and when I hit the brakes there was a chirping sound along with other sounds (Not grinding when your brakes typically need replaced) all coming from the front end of the car where the ball joint was replaced. I promptly returned to the store. My car was looked over. I was told that it needed balanced. So they balanced it and drove it, that didn't fix it. I was told it was a slightly bent wheel and they were rotating the wheels (again. And there was NOT a bent wheel when I dropped it off) I was then told it was a defective ball joint that they had put in and that I needed to bring it back when the mechanic who had already done the repairs was working. But, I was safe to drive it till I had time off again (Friday) and told to go on way. I drove home crying that day, because of the horrendous sounds my car was making and the way it was driving. I did NOT feel safe driving it, so I took time off work and returned on Tuesday. When I arrived Tuesday, My car was almost immediately taken in. This is when the trouble began. First, I was told my cars just needed the brake pads clean. Then an alignment. Then a balance. Once the last of that was done, I was told by the acting manager that I could go on my way and only return if I was displeased. I drove a loop I was familiar with near the Mr. Tire to ensure that there was no additional noise and shaking. I promptly returned and asked the acting manager or mechanic to drive with me so they could hear the noises I was hearing. When we got back to the shop, the assistant manager seemed to lose his cool. He slammed my doors stated "F-this. You are getting free new back brakes and rotors and I am giving you a full refund for the money you spent on Sunday and I am washing my hands of this car." Please keep in mind there had NEVER been any problems with my back brakes, everything was stemming from the front of my car, where they had replaced the wheel bearing. I went into the shop and called customer service. I could not believe that I was being told that they were "washing their hands clean of my car when we hadn't replaced this defective ball joint, and we hadn't figured out what the problem was. My agent said she would call the shop and instruct them to take care of the ball joint and also agreed that the refund was warranted.) When the acting manager came back in, I confirmed that I was getting a full refund on the money spent ($931.92, there was also a witness in the store during this time that heard me confirm it.) It turns out that the problem, in the long run, was a warped front drivers side rotor. Which was replaced, after I called customer service and they called the shop. But, this so called "defective" ball joint was never replaced and my car is still making a clicking sound when i turn left (mysteriously onto the SAME side that they did all the work.) When I called customer service on Wednesday to ensure that my return had been submitted (which it had, but I wanted to check due to the fact that the acting manager was sure to tell me numerous times that he was going on vacation). I then received a phone call from the manager of the Mr. Tire I had been going to. Who told me that the acting manager did not have the authority to tell me I was getting a refund. I explained that it was not my fault that their employee had given me this information. He is a representative of the business, the acting manager at that time. If he states I should be getting a refund, that refund should be happening. I later spoke with the regional manager that refused to approve the refund. I was given his supervisor's number - who has yet to return my phone call. I called customer service and was told by an upper manager that I was disrespectful and ungrateful for requesting the follow through of the refund. After the ways I have been spoken to from the Acting Manager (saying F-this, except using the whole word) clear through upper management in customer service. I have lost all respect for this place of business. They do not treat their customers with value, with respect. read more

I brought my car in today after a mysterious tire-deflation incident. I also brought a coupon in for an oil change and tire rotation. The service was very quick and friendly when I came in, though you definitely need an appointment -- it's a fairly high-traffic spot, with a lot of cars on the lot. Had I just brought my car in, rather than calling ahead, I would have had a five-hour wait in the queue. Speaking of waiting, while they examined my car and changed the oil, I waited in the front area. They have a spread of magazines for your perusal, though not much else. No TV or anything. What the place lacked in media entertainment, though, was more than made up by the memorable personalities of its staff. They seem to enjoy their work, and they made the hour-long go by relatively quickly. Ultimately, the guys could not find a reason for my tire's deflation -- no nails, or leaks, or gashes -- but I know they were thorough, and they slapped on a coat of sealant just to be safe. I was very happy with the service, and will definitely repeat once it's time for my car inspection and a new set of tires. read more

If you want your TIRE to FALL OFF your car as you drive away, look no further! My sister picked up my mom's car here after work was done, and it made a strange noise as she was driving away. Not being her car, she didn't question it much. Within 20 minutes, THE ENTIRE WHEEL FELL OFF....after leaving a tire place... it doesn't take much to put 2 and 2 together here, folks. Mr. Tire would not take any responsibility, because it was the opposite tire they fixed, but if you use some very basic deductive skills, you might come to the conclusion that a coincidence like that would be absolutely fucking crazy. The car is now totaled and my mom was on the hook for the tow back to their place. I'm pretty livid, not about the money, but that my sisters LIFE WAS PUT IN DANGER. Nobody take your car to Mr. TIRE on Rodi Road. I went there for a power steering fluid leak. They said I needed a water pump, power steering pump, a serpentine belt, and 3 cables replaced that were leaking. They said 2500.00 was the total. I told them noway, because I put a new pump in it, and I know I did not neeere power steering pump, because it still turned good and it was just leaking. So I took my truck to my nephew, and all i needed was a power steering rack. They never diagnosed that so to fix that would have cost me another 800. I got it fixed for 650 total. DON'T GO TO MR. RIP OFF ALERT!! I took my car here for an inspection and they said that it would cost $692 for exhaust and $250 for brakes to get my car to pass. I decided to have the brakes done at another place and come back to get the exhaust work (after taxes). When I went back they didn't even have a record that I made the appointment but said they would "squeeze me in" and that they needed to reinspect it. After the "re-inspection" they said it would be $1000 + for just the exhaust!!! They said I must have done some damage in the 2 months since (???). I researched Angie's list and took the car to a place that was highly recommended. The car is inspected with exhaust all for $750! Check Angie's list it will save you hundreds! read more

Went here for a while but when I took my fiancé's 2012 CRV in for a Check Engine Light the diagnosis came back as needing a new catalytic converter, which sounded wrong & when pressed for details it turned into "well, you can wait a few months to a year or so but it'll need to be fixed EVENTUALLY" and "is just from normal wear & tear". No. A normal used 6 year old CRV does not need a new converter from normal wear. AND the light magically turned off a few days later. This also calls into question the fact that 2 years prior my own 2003 Subaru was told the SAME THING for the SAME PROBLEM. On a 13 year old car it made more sense so I didn't question it. It seems I basically handed them $1500 to turn off the engine light. And about 3 years ago an employee told me I HAD to replace my heat shields, the manager found out told me that was not true, I never saw that employee again and the regional manager called to apologize & offered free services but it seems lying is more endemic at this location than I realized. I took the Subaru in 3x to fix the awful squealing it was doing, including replacing a belt, no good. Finally went elsewhere & belt just needed a minor adjustment. I always found the managers helpful but it's a revolving door and it appears the employees are not to be trusted read more

I don't know why this location as listed as in Squirrel Hill because it is really in the Penn Hills area a few miles away. I brought my car here a few months ago when I got a nail in my tire and they promptly patched it without an issue. However, after several months the patch failed and it started to deflate again. I brought it back in and since it had been so long, and I didn't remember what tire was patched last time I assumed it was a new issue. But when they said they noticed the previous patch job was failing I knew it had to be the same tire since I had had only one of those tires patched since I bought them and they had a record that I had been there before in their computer, though the details hadn't been recorded. They were honest with me and indicated that the last process was just a plug, which was a quicker job than the internal process they normally do. It was unclear why the last person there didn't use this internal process, as the current person insisted that was their standard that they always do. Regardless, they fixed it for free using the better patch process and got me out of there in just over an hour despite being busy and having no appointment. Everyone was friendly and they have a small waiting area with magazines and sometimes coffee (had it the first time but not the 2nd time). I just wish it was in a slightly more convenient area with places nearby to walk to or a convenient bus stop for longer waits. read more
