Everything has been clean each visit and everyone is so kind. The pork chimichangas were my absolute favorite and I was shocked!!! Literally called my mother in the parking lot. I thought they would be good, but I was blown away. Personally, I would like this salsa spicier, but I do know this is a business does cater to other people's needs so I got a side of jalapeños. We come here weekly for the food and because the people are so sweet. The Toro burrito bowl is my favorite. We also get the grilled carne asada by the pound and the marinated chicken grilled by the pound for weekly meal prep. The pickled red pinions in the fridge are top notch and we love the tamales as well. I also tried the chile rellenos and they didn't disappoint. Service is great, Caramelo's inconsistent. One time it's white cheese and the next time is mixed cheese. Grilled on one side but the other side isn't. Meat to cheese distribution is not even. The large is in a folded in half tortilla, all the meat is in the center and the cheese is barely melted. read more

Place is over rated. Good choices of meat and the tortillas are good. Chips are good. But I don't think the burritos are that great. My Carne Asada is always overcooked. The Tamales are a horrible mush of Masa. Salsa is ok but can do without the big chunks of green chili. It's a bit much. read more

Pretty cool little hidden meat market on the east side of Tucson and it's right behind our house. They serve breakfast burritos. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, waited for 5 minutes for the butcher, who had his back to us, cashier person was joking back and forth with him, and another employee was joking with him. When he finally looked up several of us have been waiting, he asked who is next, and I said I was and I mentioned I've been waiting for 5 minutes, and his response was (let me pull the cameras), no apologize, still joking around with the other employees and no one apologized to us for waiting in line. Someone should have apologized, but they feel that it's not needed, that we need to be treated rudely after spending money in their store. I waited for a long-time last week too, thought maybe they are shorthanded, I will stop by again. After twice in a row, being treated rudely with others standing around waiting for service, I will never recommend anyone to their business. Wow! The food is amazing! The service was fast and efficient. If you are stopping in her for lunch and need to get back to work, this is a great place. So I was looking for lunch and gave this place a try. The butcher counter shows wonderful food. I can see why many people are shopping there. Everything looks fresh and delicious. This place is obviously well known as there were a lot of men stopped in for lunch. There really aren't a lot of tables for groups to sit for dining. There is more of a counter sitting area to enjoy your lunch. The food was fun of flavor and I could see myself returning to work my way through the menu. Looking for breakfast burritos on this side of town and there aren't that many options. But this carniceria popped up in my search and they had good reviews. Went in and ordered at the counter and they were friendly and welcoming. We got 2 breakfast burros - one with bacon and one with chorizo. Took about 5-10 minutes and they were done. The whole place was a really awesome Mexican market, with mexican snacks, salsas, fresh veggies, canned goods, sodas, a huge variety of tortillas and then, of course, a huge selection of meats. The whole place seemed very clean and well taken care of. You could see them cooking your burrito fresh. They had a couple salsas to choose from and we were on our way. Was personally disappointed with lack of flavor in their carnita burrito. The burrito is l large with lots of meat. However no flavor. I only ate a bit of it and tossed the rest. Nevertheless I hear the meat counter is very good so next time I'll purchased beef to take home and cook. read more

I don't know, this space is just beautifully designed, bright and welcoming. You're lured through the shelves of specialty Mexican grocery items until you finally come to the hot counter with rows of stewed meats, steaming chicharron, pozole, menudo and more taunting you from behind the glass. As you're salivating over everything you're offered free samples of anything in the cases by the most friendly and kind staff! The staff is so happy you're there. Want some meats to take home on the grill, they have it all. Marinated, not marinated, whatever you like. Don't have a grill at home or lets be real, you're just feeling lazy? Mr. Toro's staff will throw it on the grill for you free of charge! The Birria is top notch. The red chile pork is fall apart good, not spicy but that's okay because the flavor is wonderful. Green chile pork punching with flavor and just the right amount of heat for me. The breakfast burros, made to order are stuffed with anything you'd like on a soft flour tortilla. I've had one with chorizo and I would order again. Pork chicharron so crispy and tender, grabbing a bag to share is a must. You can take your meal to go after loading up on salsas and toppings at the salsa bar OR you can dine in, they have a few small bar style seating areas. Such a welcome locally owned spot in the current dining desert state of the Rita Ranch/Vail Area. Don't live in the area? What a surprise to have this jewel pop up in the Vail/Rita Ranch neighborhood! This is a 5 star carniceria, specialty grocery and restaurant... quite honestly in a place you would least expect to see one. Perhaps that is why it is so wonderful to have Mr. Toro's open. I popped in here to grab some dinner to take home after hearing neighborhood chatter. I ordered the Mr. Torro's Burro, a pollo burro and then saw they had Chilaquiles so I had to order that as well. The burritos are HUGE, enough for two people or one super hungry person and very tasty. The Chilaquiles came with rice and beans, along with a little salad. they were very good. They have a salsa bar with various items including salsa, grilled chiles, pico de gallo and cilantro. The grocery was chock full of great Mexican market items and the butcher/carniceria area had some wonderful cuts on display. I can already tell that we will be return customers. Food from their heated display case is so delicious. We love their pozole, chile rellenos, carnitas, chicharron de puerco and so much more. Their burritos are very good but a bit overpriced. Almost $12 for an egg, cheese, potato and bell pepper burrito is way too much money. Ingredients are not that much for those items currently! Also the tortilla they are using right now is too small for all the items they are putting it, the burrito opens up and falls apart they need to procure a larger burrito.. Such a great spot! Large selection of meat and big hot food selection too. It's super clean and organized and they have the cutest decorations. The salsa bar set up is awesome and there's tables to dine in, too. I got a carne asada caramello (small) and a cheese enchilada combo plate and my food was delicious. The caramelo was very meaty.
