I'm reviewing this place as a restaurant, not as a market. That said, this place really misses the mark. I struggle with places that have the awareness to acquire and serve excellent cuts of beef, but then NOT bother seasoning them. I just don't understand. The meat was juicy, tender and free of grisle. It was great quality meat. But it just had no flavor. And I can't fathom why. I also had the beef Chicharron taco, and the meat was old, overly greasy and burnt. Yuck. I may come back and try a different meat, I think they had Al Pastor. But other than that, I can't recommend this place. read more

Decent selection of meats including marinated meats. The pastor was tender and flavored well when fixed at home and so was the chuck steak. In addition, they do sell some dry goods, condiments to include salsas, cheese, tortillas etc and fresh cooked chicharrones, tamales and green chiles. They have a small restaurant' with burros, tacos etc. The res (beef) chicharrones were super dry and the pork chicharrones were somewhat dry... and I would not get them again but I will shop here again for sure for their meats and try their other items on the menu. I had read good things about their green corn tamales. I went there and the place was clean and the staff were friendly. The tamales were up front by the register. You can buy them by the half dozen. They have beef or green corn. I couldn't wait till Christmas, so I had a green corn tamale when I got home. It was slightly sweet and very delicious. I'll be coming back for more. read more

Excellent place for some tacos, they have hot foods like carnitas, Birria, Pozole, tamales, Sonoran hot dogs and in addition a very fresh selection of uncooked meats that they will cook for you. The green corn tamale was the best I've ever had. Everything I bought was fresh tasty and well seasoned. I'm very impressed. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely helpful, as well as the checkout person. I will be back for sure. I only came in for tortillas and tamales but wound up leaving with a lot more. This store has a lot going on for such a small footage area. You can do small Mexican grocery shopping. It has fresh vegetables and ingredients for most Mexican dishes. You can get already marinated chicken/beef or pick a meat selection to take home. If you would like to have your meat/chicken prepared for you. You have the choice of flat top or grilled. I used that choice while hosting a football get together. I picked the chicken fajitas and asked them to grill it. In a matter of no time I was out the door with sizzling chicken fajitas to serve. They have prepared food like posole and tamales. I also found out today they make breakfast burritos. Give this place a try when you need Mexican ingredients or a quick way to feed yourself on the way home from work. read more

Asked if it could be cooked. 20 mi utes later I walked out with the 2 best t bone steaks I've ever consumed, 2lbs of carnitas, fresh veggies and warm tortillas. Super friendly as soon as you walk in the front door. Gave out free samples and I ended up with the carne asada burrito. They use "Tortillas Bryan" which are my favorite and they cook the steak right on the spot. My burrito was filled with just enough meat, cabbage and pico de gallo. I wanted to love this carniceria, but sadly it was terrible. I went in to buy some carne to grill for dinner. I was told the only way I could buy carne asada was to order a burrito or taco. Ok, I said. Forget dinner, I'm hungry, I'll order 4 carne asada tacos to go. I regret not looking at them before I left because it was filled with almost 50% pure rubbery fat chunks and not one drop of seasoning, salt, pepper, marinade. Nothing. And NO toppings...no pico or anything. Worst tacos I've ever seen because I didn't eat them and I've never turned down or disliked a taco. Very shameful excuse for a taco that they should be embarrassed to sell. And they costed just under $20. I've never in my life been treated as such a gringa and I felt very unwelcome. This is a good spot to pick up marinated meat. You can request to have it cooked or uncooked. We had a large party and we were able to feed 10 people with 4lbs carne asada, 4lbs grilled yellow marinade chicken, tortillas onion bulbs, cabbage, chips, Pico de gallo, and pickled Gallo all for under 100 dollars. Stop in to see the Rancheros Carniceria (new one on Grant) after reading the story on the internet. The article described the service as great. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I wanted a sample of their carnitas (excellent), then I was asked if I wanted to try their ceviche (also excellent). I ordered some skirt meat, and I was asked if I wanted it cooked (no charge). I said yes. The store was clean and well stocked. They have few tables for dining and the menu on the wall offered the typical Carniceria fare. All very inexpensive. They offer choice and prime meats, as well as Wagyu beef. I haven't visited many Carnicerias in town, but this one is excellent. Restaurants and retail stores are always trying to win my business. I have my favorite Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Sushi, hamburger places, etc. I'll try a new one every once in a while. If it doesn't compare to one of my favorites, I don't return. This place is truly special. Immaculate, wonderfully organized and fresh. I would easily drive 15 miles for the best, but today I was simply looking for good tortillas and looked up what's closer. This place literally just popped open in Feb! They are terrific at offering samples which of course lead to coming home with a feast. The verdict from the family was ... this was the best we've ever had. They also make food there, you can place orders on line as well. Absolutely BUSSIN, left my kankles shaking (prob just diabeetus & too much carbs). Much needed on the east side! Ive tried a little bit of everything and I love it all (haven't tried ceviche yet). My favorite surprisingly is their house-made flour tortillas! Im super picky with my tortillas & I hate brands like Alejandros (taste like card board), or Estrellas (powdery, brittle, dry). So I always look for the "Bryan" brand, which was out of stock during a visit. Reluctantly & in a hurry I just grabbed a pack of their house-made brand...and they are now my go-to tortillas. Also the staff is super cool/sweet & helpful. You can tell the cashier they started was struggling a little.. but it's all good, it never bugged me im not a Karen like that. But the new cashier is awesome. The wife and I literally did laundry (big blankets & bulky stuff) in the laundry store next door just for an excuse to have breakfast there lol. read more

The shrimp ceviche is better than the fish ceviche, and I really enjoyed the fish ceviche. The recommendation of La Negra hot sauce complemented the delicate seafood, citrus and spices of the ceviche with the Smokey flavor. Rancheros Carinceria is a relatively new establishment that has been a great addition to the eastside. You can pick up Mexican staples, meat, and hot foods from their deli. Some of my favorite hot food items are the carnitas and birria. I usually buy some carnitas or birria with a pack of corn tortillas and grab some fixings from their salsa bar near the register. At Rancheros, I always appreciate their excellent recommendations and customer service. During one of my visits, even though the birria was running low, the employee assisting me took the time to fish out good pieces of meat and properly drained the broth before weighing the birria. Protip: Take advantage of their grilling service on weekends. For $1 per pound, you can get your meat grilled to perfection outside. I usually get their marinated chuck steak for some tasty carne asada. Overall, Rancheros offers great food and has become one of my regular food stops! read more

I liked this place a lot. The meats were priced reasonable (correlation of price and quality). This carniceria was very clean inside and they have a good selection. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. For meats, I grabbed some arrachera and some chicken, which was promptly thrown on the grill at home. The meats were great quality and very flavorful. Nancy and I were looking for different types of seasoning, preferably not bottled. We found Rancheros and what a gem!! Lots of Mexican spices, food items, their own tortilla (best we've ever tasted), fresh meat market and a small restaurant. We now go there on a regular basis. Horrible food got food poisoning 2 times after deciding to give them a second chance. Old meat was given carnitas has been setting out for over 8 hours beef chicharones were very old and greasy. They were good at first then got comfortable and started slacking off with food and customer service. I'm not paying $10.00 for a 4 inch burrito with old meat inside and nothing else.
