For Fathers day I wanted some really good burgers. So I ordered some ground beef/brisket/short rib mix. And they offered to make them into patties for me! They were delicious! Everyone raved about them! We also picked up some ground beef for tacos and some delicious egg/bacon potato salad and I loved the pineapple slaw! Just walking around in there, it smelled so good and there was so much we wanted to take home. Thank you Houghton Meat Market! We will be back soon! Ok, this place is our favorite spot for made from scratch sausage and steaks. The location is perfect for anyone on the east side of town. It has a large parking lot and because it's a bit off the beaten path, it's easy to get in and out quickly. Now they have upped their game even more with the addition of their new food truck! It's parked right outside the front door and is loaded with an incredible menu. Everything is made to order and worth the wait! The sandwiches are large and shareable. We stopped by to see what kind of meat they had and ended up bringing home a cheesesteak sausage and green chili sausage. They were delicious. Everyone who worked there was super friendly and knowledgeable too. Outside they have a food truck. We split their Ruben and it was amazing! They have a large selection of brats though today after being closed for the holiday they were a little lean on the selection or possibly they had just sold out. Regardless, fixed the brats today for dinner and omg- super good, I personally liked the mango habanero.., but everyone had their own favorite from the Nashville hot, garlic Parmesan, jalapeno cheddar and garlic parm. Their brats are true to their description... the habanero mango has real habanero and it will give your mouth a kick... same with the jalapeno. The garlic parm is garlicky. Ie- expect real flavor. Their meats and poultry are hormone and antibiotic free and high quality. They also have a food truck in their parking lot. Definitely a returning customer. read more

This meat market is a must go!!! There meats are seriously so good and high-quality the people there are always the nicest and they have other options for sale there too. Everything local like salsa's barbecue sauce drinks ect!! they always have samples available for people as well! And they just came out with their food truck today and it is absolutely amazing. He added in a free potato wedge and later on gave us fried pickles! They will be adding more to their menu soon!! seriously try them out. The day before Christmas Eve, we called ahead and asked if they had any briskets. They said they did and could cut it to our requested size. My husband asked for 4-5 lbs. They said no problem, took his info and said it would be ready. I got there to pick it up a couple of hours later and they had no record of the order. But they were very nice and luckily, they still had brisket available, so I asked them to cut the 4-5 lbs. They said to give them a few minutes and it would be ready. Took them just a few minutes and as I was walking around, they left it at the front counter for me. When I got up there to pay for it, I noticed it looked rather large. I asked them how many pounds it was and it was over 6 lbs. Way more than what I needed. They offered to cut it, but I didn't want that 1 lb to get wasted since I don't think anyone would ever buy a 1lb brisket. While it was way more than what we asked for or needed, the family said it was delicious and they thoroughly enjoyed the holiday dinner, so everything ultimately worked out. Just with way more leftovers than I would have preferred. I'd go back again and would recommend it to others. read more

My wife and I decided to stop in on 9/3/2025 instead of going to our usual carniceria near our home. We walked in and started to browse the selection. The 3 staff working were males and at least two of them seen us enter the store. No one greeted us or made us feel welcomed to be there, let alone very unwelcome to shop here. We did a 1 time walk around and left after feeling so uncomfortable being in this store. If you like being ignored, then shop here. If you like feeling uneasy & unwelcome, then shop here. If you like knowing that the staff see you but won't open their mouths to be helpful, then shop here. If you like feeling like your hard earned money is NOT appreciated, then shop here. After my first review the shop reached out to us and offered another roast at no charge. We went in and they gave us a pork butt roast. This is what I had originally wanted. The person I got the roast from the first time didn't ask which type of pork roast I wanted so I though they only had one kind. This second roast was delisious. read more

30 seconds after entering the store, I knew I wasn't going to buy anything. There were two other customers, and two gentlemen behind the counter. When we entered, eye contact was made, but no greeting offered by either employee. I was about to offer a greeting, but decided against it. In my opinion, I am the potentially paying customer and should be recognized and appreciated. I did look at their prices on meat, and other offerings, and they seemed high, but I am no expert. I typically buy my meat at the grocery store. The salsa's and hot sauces looked to be marginally higher than what I would pay at a grocery store. It's a small business, I get it. It is OK. I have never had a bad experience here. I find the prices a bit high and the steaks we have bought the times we have been here are above average. I can't really criticize the quality, but I haven't been wowed. Service is good. I have never had any issues with anyone here. All were accommodating. I will make my way here again in the future, but I certainly need to check out other butchers and carnicerias in Tucson. The other items here, spices and soda pop, didn't really interest me, and there seems an overabundance of those two items. read more

I visit Houghton a few times a year, but always prior to Easter to celebrate the end of lent. I had good experiences in the past but this time was different. Spending about 10 or 15 minutes on the phone, it was a longer process than necessary for ordering ribs. Nonetheless, I am excited for the ribs, and arrive to pickup my order. Upon arrival I was given the immediate impression they did not want me there, not a typical store greeting, just a young man on his phone. I kindly ask for my order, and the young man asks another staff member to help me, and then returns to his phone. I was able to get my ribs, make a payment, and leave. I made sure to thank them for their help, but received no response. It was a disheartening encounter to say the least. I am a fairly enthusiastic person, but I didn't receive a very good experience, and I just hope I caught them on a bad day. From my understanding the quality of their meat is high, but this wasn't the fall right off the bone kind of ribs. I was pretty hung up on the store encounter, so I didn't enjoy the ribs like I had in the past. Again I hope it was just a bad day. We'll try again next year. read more

Update to my review. Recently there has been an increase in prices (notably the sausages) and removal of some of the items (cookies that the kids loved) . The last couple times we went there they stopped the samples as well. It's still a nice local place but the price is starting to bring it down. We'll still go there but less frequently. read more

Wow! I was very impressed with this little meat market and so glad that it's on the far East side too. I stopped by on a Sunday morning to see if they had any chorizo since the store bought ones give me heartburn lol They we're all out but he offered to make me some fresh! How great is that?! As soon as I got home I made it and it was delicious! The kids loved it too. The best part is that it didn't give me heartburn They have tons of meats, seafood and chicken to choose from. I was even able to find my mom some beef tongue there. There's lots of little extras to choose like mango peach jelly, chimchurri rubs, bbq sauce, pasta and pasta sauces. We get their handsome steaks once or twice a week. The workers are friendly and helpful. I wish they had bbq sauce options without sugar, because I'd rather give a local business my money than a chain. They have plenty of varieties of hot sauce. The ambience is fun and simple, with some NY/NJ touches here and there. I wish they had sausage options that have all natural ingredients. They have many options and they look great, just none we can eat because we have special dietary needs. But I will keep coming back for the fabulous handsome steaks. read more

A real butcher shop ! Haven't found anything this spot on since I lived back in Philly . Butchers are knowledgeable, willing to go cut it in the back if they don't have it in the case . Sausages ; lots of different varieties . I'm a fan of the bangers . Andouille, and the Cajun sausages . The ground beef is always fresh and not that fine grind that you find in a more conventional grocery store . Steaks have been top notch . It's definitely worth the hour drive each way . read more

I was delighted when this market opened near my home: We've tried steaks, marinated meats, sausages--which are their specialty--and we come here for chix breasts, bc they are more tender than those we buy at the grocery store.
