Not too bad for Chinese in the southeastern U.S. I didn't even look at the buffet, but the Hunan chicken I ordered was pretty good. Waitress was disappointed that I ordered from the menu as opposed to the buffet. My guess is the chefs probably give her a boatload of grief when they have to cook something other than the mass-produced stuff on the buffet line. read more

This place was highly recommended I will say it is clean and staff is friendly but the food was probably the worst buffet I have ever had. Everything was very salty and the sauces taste like the cheap canned stuff from the oriental isle in Walmart which happens to be right next door. I will most likely not come here again read more

I think at $13.99 a person the food was okay but I had to scoop up all the Sesame Chicken on to one plate before they would put new stuff out. They did have some different dishes then the normal Buffet but still one was like onions and cheese like WTF? read more

Mr. Wang's is an awesome buffet. They have a lot of variety at a reasonable cost. I've never been and the food wasn't hot or fresh. Small batches are prepared and replenished as it runs low to keep food from drying out. The staff have always given good service and made sure we have what we need. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. read more

Mr. Wang's is one of the best Chinese restaurants you'll ever go to! Tommy and Alex (brother owners) remembered my name and my family's names upon returning even though I had moved away for 8 years! How's that for some rock star customer service! They really are what makes this restaurant stand out from all the rest. The food was of course good and the atmosphere was fun and comfortable. Went to this place for lunch around 2:45. Was told after paying that the guy cooking the buffet would not be back from break until 430. They expect there customers to eat the same food that's been sitting there for hours. Definitely do not recommend. read more

I've had better and I've had worse. We ate here at about 6pm on a Saturday night and it was dead. The food was also VERY old and marginally warm. But that being said, and the reason I actually gave it 3 stars, the food was pretty good. I certainly would have given it a least 4 stars if it was fresh. At least half of the offerings on the buffet had mushrooms in it. Great for me but bad for my wife who is allergic to them so beware. Our server was great too. $25 for 2 buffets and sodas. read more

Went on a Thursday night about 6. There were just 4-6 other customers when I arrived. I started with the fresh shrimp on ice. Not to bad. Next the egg drop soup. There was no flavor. Got take out off the menu and it got here it smelled so strong of sesame oil which I love so I was excited! (This was our first try). The hot and sour soup was very good and that is where the sesame oil smell was coming from. Not sure I've ever noticed it in other h&s soups but very good. My son had the orange chicken and it was sooooo good, we were stealing pieces of his chicken when he wasn't looking. Cheese wontons (crab rangoons) were very tasty but there was an almost unacceptably small amount of filling which was a bummer. Lots of wonton left. The shrimp fried rice was super boring. Seemed like day old white rice with some soy sauce and warmed up when shrimp and peas were added to it. Definitely not shrimp fried rice. Could've made it better at home with the seasoning packet from the grocery store. I was told the wonton soup was just "okay". Since the orange chicken was so good, we will try again and explore other options! read more

First-time tried their lunch buffet couple days ago after I read the reviews here. Honestly, we don't like it. They did not have many varieties of food. Way too many chicken dishes!!! I guess it was mainly because chickens are cheaper! I actually counted, there were like 15 total different chicken dishes which was ridiculous for a typical Chinese buffet. I did not see shrimp or any kind of seafood at all unless you want to count the fried cat fish (cheap fish!) which was terrible too! There was no sushi bar either. The fruit area's selection was also limited, most of them were canned food. Besides all the chickens, they also had beef with broccoli, but the beef was so hard to chew. We live in a smaller town in Alabama too and this buffet place is no where close to any of the Chinese buffet here (for the same price). We definitely will not go back to this place next time we visit Birmingham and we do not recommend this place to others! read more
