They have a beautiful white La Marzocco espresso machine, and maybe that got my hopes up for the coffee hahahah. My friends and I got iced lattes (one with soy milk, another with almond milk, and another with whole milk), and none of us liked our drinks.. one of my friends said hers tasted watery, but mine just made me feel like I was drinking some kind of watered alcohol or something. My friend also got a matcha latte and didn't like that either. We got the Mr. Breakfast ($13.50), cheese board ($12), and nicoise salad ($15). My favorite was the Mr. Breakfast, and I would say that would be like a 4/5 for me. It has two soft-boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, toast, and herb roasted potatoes. I would get this again! I wouldn't get the cheese board again, not worth the price for the portion size and taste. Salad was pretty decent. Otherwise, the food presentation is nice and the aesthetics of the cafe are amazzzzing. I would come back just for the vibes. read more

Mr West Cafe Bar was the perfect breakfast spot!! The food was simple and delicious. I tried the breakfast plate and it was amazing!! The jam served with my bread was delectable. Aesthetics and ambiance, 10/10. Food, 7/10. Drinks 6/10. The decor and lighting are the definitions of adorable. We tried the tuna melt, tomato soup, and egg croissant. The croissant was flakey and buttery, and the tuna melt came with the cutest little pickles on the side. I was disappointed with my vanilla matcha (too sweet and watery, asked for extra hot, and it came cold), but the chai latte and mocha tasted pretty good. Overall, I think it's a cute spot to meet friends in the U Village area, but I wouldn't come back for drinks. read more

We were really happy to discover a second location of Mr. West in U Village. The line seems to always be out the door but moves quickly. Their menu is deep, diverse and full of interesting things. We had a great meal here, after waiting about 20 minutes to order and 15 minutes for our food to come out. Everything is fresh, creative and delicious. Might be worth the hype! Pretty busy cafe so I had to check it out. Partner and I had to scout and fight for an indoor seat but it was expected from a weekend morning. Orders are taken at the counter and they give you a number. I ordered the shakshuka and my partner ordered the cured salmon toast, and we had the burrata to share. The food was clearly prepared with quality ingredients and craft, everything was unique and delicious. I had a very pleasant time at this place. It did feel a bit cold inside though, especially when the front door opens but not to the point where it hindered my experience. Give this place a try, thumbs up from me. read more

This is great spot to get some work done or catch up with friends. It can get a little busy so beware of lines and lack of tables. I'm a fan of their matcha lattes, vanilla lattes and seattle fog. The drinks are a bit pricey but pretty standard for Seattle/UDistrict. There's lot of non-dairy milk options which is also a plus. The food is also pretty pricey as well but it's delicious so I can overlook treating myself to a snack here once in awhile. read more

I've stopped by Mr. West a few times now - it's very L.A. as far as the decor and the ambience goes, but that's not a bad thing. Don't let the bougie green-beige-gold color story, the random houseplants, and the industrial lighting fool you; the food and beverage here are pretty darned good. Service is friendly and efficient. The eggs/potatoes could have used some salt during my recent breakfast there, but the slabs of fatty bacon made up for the underseasoning in spades. That being said, service was pretty quick in that we didn't have to wait too long to get our food. Our table had the Spanish tortilla, shakshuka and the chicken flatbread. I was really excited for the tortilla but it was just okay, not worth the time we waited to get in. I lived in Seattle throughout the 1990s. I'd say it was the rise of Seattle Cool. Back then, U-Village was a sleepy "mall-ish" area that featured the Bon Marche and later, a Barnes and Noble. There was a Bartell's in that area too. Eventually, the QFC showed up, making the parking increasingly difficult. That's when I thought hey, if I want traffic, why not move to California!? Anyway, those days are gone. U-Village is now a bustling urban center featuring well-to-do families and a plethora of shops and restaurants. It's really packed in tight, people. They fixed the parking problem by adding some LA style parking ramps, which include aggressive driving (is this really Seattle?) and stupid decisions as far as following distance goes. Wide left turns are also a hazard in that lot. Just a friendly warning in advance. In the middle of all this, you have Mr. West Cafe Bar. After you get out of that jungle they call a parking lot, you can head to MWCB (abbreviation) to enjoy a soothing, aesthetic meal. In my case, it was brunch on a Sunday. This meant a long line for counter service. You could skip and go to the bar too, but we wanted to sit outside and take in some Vitamin D, which is a cherished commodity. The meal's ingredients are extremely fresh and thoughtful. I have no complaints about this food. It was just delicious. I had the garden frittata on a hoagie roll. Others in my party enjoyed the shakshuka and the breakfast croissant. We all loved Meena's Chai to drink. The service was polite and quick. I can't think of anything bad that I experienced during this meal. If you are patient and enjoy fresh ingredients, then try this spot. Although I'm sad that old Seattle is gone, I don't mind this addition to this space where I have a lot of memories. It was nice to add a new memory there at Mr. West Cafe. read more

Taken here by a friend, i was taken aback of how marvelous the interior was. you were bombarded with balanced hues of house-planted greens that was washed by the chalky white designs within inside. There were many different options to sit, but if you're coming here in a larger group--the availability for that is purely on luck. Environment aside, the workers were incredibly kind and attentive, making sure to weave their way through inside and out the cafe into the open seating (where we chose to sit). Onto the food and drinks. I ordered the genmaicha loose leaf tea (my all time favorite), and well it was just genmaicha. the quality isnt amazing, but it was still enjoyable nevertheless. what i ordered was the mr. west club (with no onions) that surprisingly came with a complimentary salad and pickles. this, i definitely rate it a solid 7.5/10. the reason i gave it a half was it was very bread forward, the flavor profile in itself was a bit lacking to my expectations but it was fulfilling regardless. good quality meat that didnt outdo any other parts of the bread, but i did feel like it was a bit dry. the best part about this entire sandwich? the delectable smoky bacon that melted in your mouth as it unified with everything else. overall i give this a 4/5, the missing star was because it is a bit pricey for a sandwich ($15). other than that, it was an enjoyable experience that i'll be coming back for to other things to try! read more

I now have 6 different plants (not all from West) and I LOVE THEM! I am constantly scoping out what new plants they have when I'm catching a bite between classes and honestly it's so hard to walk away empty handed. I've been to Mr.West Cafe Bar a couple of times, and will definitely come here more. Long story short, great ambience and quality food. Looking at the menu, you may wonder, why would I spend so much on an avocado toast? Well, treat yourself and get it because it's worth it :) [Food] The food here is pretty good! It's not just "regular cafe food." Mr. West adds an interesting twist to it. I really like the avocado toast and the Mediterranean fries (happy hour only, I think?) The avocado is always seasoned perfectly and comes with a thick piece of toast of your choice (I always get sour dough). The fries don't look like a lot but they are pretty filling. Lots of toppings and flavors. [Drinks] My favorite is the matcha soda. I've also tried the matcha cocktail and it tastes exactly like the soda, just with alcohol. The reason why I took one star off this review is that I wouldn't get the drinks to-go. The one time I got the matcha soda to-go, it tasted very bland and water down. Finally got to check out this location with my friend yesterday. Like the one downtown it has lots of natural lighting which I love and it has even more plants another bonus! Was worried we wouldn't find a table or seat after placing our order but my friend noticed two girls at another table using the table beside them to place their bags we asked nicely and let us have the table. I was treating my friend for her birthday. She got a pot of tea and the curried avocado toast on sweet potato instead bread and added egg, I went with my favorite go to there the morning glory board. The food and beverages didn't take long to be delivered and staff is friendly. Definitely will be back when shopping at U Village. I've always loved coming here to study with friends since they have so many outlets available. Better come early to cop a seat cuz it WILL get crowded soon. I've tried their seasonal Butternut Squash Latte and it was just ok, nothing really stood out and just ended up tasting like a regular latte. The cortado is always my go-to, especially if you're looking for a stronger espresso flavor. Me and my friend really like their Tuna Melt Sandwich, particularly the thick multigrain toast! Super flavorful but not too cheesy or heavy. Salad and pickles on the side serves as a palate cleanser if you need a break from this hearty sandwich. Only suggestion would be the bread-to-filling ratio; bread is too thick in my opinion. The House-Cured Wild Salmon Toast is not bad if you prefer something on the heavier side. The wild salmon is so salty...but the combination of creme fraiche and sourdough is so delicious! Love the addition of pickled shallot to balance out the savoriness of the salmon and caper. The Avocado Toast is a MUST ORDER. I usually don't order avocado toast when eating out since it can be easily made at home, but this is different. The beautiful flavors of curry and mustard seed cut through the creaminess of the avocado, while the cilantro added a herby touch for the bite. It was my first time trying the shakshuka, and I loved it! At $12, it's a steal! It comes with two decently-sized pieces of seasoned pita and two poached eggs. Mr. West will always be 5 stars in my heart. They are single handedly the reason I chose to go to UW. I knew I needed a constant in my life, and the grilled cheese and tomato soup is my constant. It has never failed to make my whole day better. This cafe is the only thing that can get me to walk up and down the massive hill to get to U-Village. For this grilled cheese, I would do this walk in rain, shine, hurricane, tornado, and even tsunamis. However please do not order the shakerato drink it was not good, if you are deciding to change it up or sticking to your favorite latte, stick to your favorite latte. The coffee shop is lively. It seems to always be busy. It has these cool corner round couches which allow for more seating. They also provide chairs and stools for extra seating. I was told seating was first come first seated. The cashier was super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient (we stood in line for about 10 min to order though- it was a Sunday at 1pm). Servers are walking around making sure they're cleaning empty tables as soon as they're available. The food was just so delicious and fresh. I got the americano with steamed milk and coffee cake (which had some berries inside). Our friends also ordered the butter croissant, tomato soup and salad. It's pricy though! read more

Love the ambiance and the atmosphere at this cute cafe, however the service is underwhelming. After visiting University Village for quite a while and never coming here, I decided to try this place out during their happy hour. They have a decent size selection of drink menu items to choose from during happy hour, however their happy hour food options are a little more limited. Upon entry, you must place your order at the front counter. Once you place your order, they give you a number to display and you're off to find your own seating. When we arrived, there was no available seating inside, so we had to sit outside in the front patio. It was a chilly evening, so they had their heaters turned on. We got our food and drinks after waiting outside for 20-30 minutes. Furthermore when delivering the food, our waiter dropped some of wings on the table, but we shrugged it off and said it was okay. Immediately, we noticed that the food was already cold and hypothesised that they might've left it on the counter while preparing our other dishes. Not even 3 minutes into getting our food, the heaters and lights turn off on the patio. Confused, I went inside and asked them what had happened and they looked at me quizzically and said "oh you want the heaters back on??" I was appalled by their service and didn't not feel like finishing my meal. We packed our stuff for to-go and left. Ultimately their food was sub par and overpriced.
