Sedara is only open the weekend, so you have to strategically plan a trip. I came with three other people, so we shared our treats, and got to try a variety. The parking lot is large, so parking is easy. Upon entering, we were welcomed in. There were several large display cases. One had the many varieties of sweet pastries, the other had the ice cream offerings. The pastry case had so much to choose from, it was hard to pick. There were some jelly like pastries that were one dollar a piece! I got one to eat then, and one for later. There were also many different kinds of baklava available, and all of them looked amazing! They had Turkish coffee available, which was perfect to cut through the sweet treats. There was a decent amount of seating available, and the decorations are classy and beautiful. One of our favorite places to grab a sweet treat. They have coffee's, ice cream, baklava, and Turkish delights. They have a plethora of all the different treats. My kiddos always want the ice cream. My husband goes for the baklava. And I love the Turkish delights. We all leave happy. The employees are always friendly and helpful. I had never been into Sedara and I'm sad I didn't come here sooner! I had a last minute idea of grabbing some baklava for an event I was hosting the evening I stopped in. I wasn't sure if a larger order would able to happen with no notice, but I thought I'd try anyways! Sedara is located is a plaza in Affton. I pulled up and parking was simple! I walked in and noticed how inviting the atmosphere was. It is decorated wonderfully and is bright with ornate details. I explained how much I needed to the cashier and she said it wouldn't be a problem! I got half of my order with walnut baklava and half of my order with pistachio. I also ordered a coffee. The woman working rang me up, I paid, and was out the door. It was painless and easy, and such an amazing addition to the event. So much great feedback on the baklava. Such a great treat! I ordered online and when I stopped in got all the details: just come inside because prices are cheaper. Hummus was delicious, chunky and flavorful, the little one munched it down and so did I! I switched out something that was out of stock for these jelly desserts: a rose petal variety, lemon and a saffron one, each just as unique. The lemon perfectly slightly sour again the delicate sweetness of the jelly and crunchy macadamia nuts. Will try other varieties as they are many. I used to visit often like once a month for their desserts and was always satisfied, until the last couple times this year. The people who worked behind the counter used to be very friendly and would totally fill the boxes. Apparently they hired different people, and now the young men who work there have the attitude of as if they could care less. We came for baklava and were not disappointed. There were so many different options, so we decided to get one of each. The cashier suggested we order the big box (more cost effective) and get two of each. We shared between 4 people and still had plenty to take home. The cashier was very helpful and explained the different types of baklava (some were nests, some were "fingers," some were traditional baklava, some were filled with pistachio or walnuts or pecans). I read online that the different between the Turkish and Iraqi baklava is that the Turkish uses more pistachios and the Iraqi uses more honey. While I was just here for the baklava, they have more treats available. The brownie a la mode we saw served was topped with so much ice cream- definitely share between 2 people. They have so many flavors of ice cream (samples offered). The interior is very clean, there are plenty of tables to sit once you've ordered at the counter. There is even seating outside. I came to Sedara Sweets & Ice Cream on a Friday afternoon in hopes of satiating my sweet tooth and this place did not disappoint. They offer ice cream (made by Cedar Crest Ice Cream), Turkish and Iranian baklava, other baked goods, breakfast sandwich and wrap, smoothies, chillers, and coffee. There was much more variety than I had anticipated. The restaurant was well-maintained and the counter service was good. There were many tables to seat yourself afterward to enjoy your purchase. I tried a couple ice cream flavors but since I've had Cedar Crest Ice Cream before, it was an easy pass for me as I made my way to the baklava station. I've never seen so many kinds all at once so the owner explained to me the difference between the Iranian and Turkish ones. They all looked delectable and tempting. I couldn't pick just one so I ordered a few! Note that the following were all Turkish baklavas. No particular reason why I gravitated toward these (perhaps because they are green): 1. Um Salwa - This was my favorite of them all and also the owner's personal favorite. It had a good flakiness and the pistachios were chopped finely enough to my liking. It had the most syrup so it was the sweetest but still not too sweet. 2. Burma - This was my least favorite but still decent. It wasn't sweet enough to my taste and had more nuts than I usually like. My friend who doesn't like desserts that are too sweet enjoyed it though, but it was just okay to me. 3. Bird's Nest - I loved the textural crunch of the shredded phyllo. There was minimal syrup in it, so it was not too sweet but sweet enough. I liked that the pistachios were in bigger chunks to mimic eggs in a bird's nest. read more

I left with 48 pieces of assorted Baklava and sweets. I got 2 large trays to take to 2 different places. Everyone LOVED this! I know not all of the pastries are called Baklava but I don't know their proper names. Some had walnuts, some pistachios, and some pecans. They were sweet but not too sweet and not dripping with honey as some are. The phyllo dough was light and flaky. I hope people can find them. It's in a little strip center on Mackenzie road. Tried this place after work one night; it was great! I've been back already and that was 2 nights ago... first time I tried the iced vanilla latte - great! We ordered for take out several different types of baklava and some regular Turkish delight. Unfortunately, of the 4 types of baklava we tried only one seemed fresh. We tried the wartbat, haystack, chocolate and pecan, and pistachio and cherry. Only the pistachio and cherry tasted fresh. The others were hard and dry. (Maybe not old but overcooked?!?) The Turkish delight was also stale. Needless to say we were disappointed as the sweets looked gorgeous in the case, serving size was good, and the baklava was filled with nuts. We went on a Friday evening - so don't know if we were getting sweets that were almost a week old. The trays were covered in plastic so they were trying to keep them fresh. Since we like baklava, we will give them another try in hopes all of the baklava and Turkish delights will be fresher and more moist. If so, then I will come back and revise our rating. read more

My husband and I were looking for a place to grab a frozen custard and we stumbled upon this amazing sweet shop! They had the most delicious treats and The baklava is so delicious!!! We tried a couple different ones and split them so we could try more flavors! You have to try cinnamon! It is my favorite! The service was outstanding.
