Delicious! Big change in food quality with new owner. I've been thinking about the food since I left.

Ok so I came to try what some called the best Chinese food, was I mistaken! I ordered 2 dishes, their shrimp chow mein and orange chicken and couldn't be more disappointed! The shrimp chow mein was like having warm maruchan soup because the noodles were thin, shrimp was unhealthy and the best thing were the onions. The orange chicken was nice looking on the outside and terrible on the inside, it felt like cheap chicken wrapped in a nice presentation, all was overly greasy and the "spicy" sauce was mild at best! I will NEVER eat here again. read more

I think they should rename this place Mr. Z's Dumpling House, they have some of the best dumplings I've had in the OC so far. The noodle dish wasn't bad, but it could definitely be better. We also ordered the smashed cucumbers (really, really good) and the orange chicken (yes, basic ,but if you've read my other orange chicken reviews, you know why I had to try it). The five stars are first and foremost for our server/boss lady/comedian. She was incredible, and honestly the biggest reason my boyfriend and I will be coming back. What truly stole my heart, though, was seeing said boss lady invite an unhoused man in for a hot meal. I heard her tell him to order whatever he wanted ,on them, and she even packed him extra food to go. The new owner gave the restaurant a fresh makeover, featuring new paint, furniture, and a new tablet, creating a clean and bright atmosphere. It's very inviting. Unfortunately and understandable, the business is still getting their footings. The problem with only one waitress/hostess and one cook cause the food to come out extra slow and that's with 4 tables occupied. I can imagine how much longer for food to be served if it's a full house. From a food perspective, we ordered a variety of dishes and all were "meh". 1- The green onion pancakes : Too thin and oily. Last time I dined here was more than 10 years ago, my friend from Northern California came to visit Disneyland and we decided to meet here to catch up. It was not busy at all and we were seated right away and our orders were served promptly. The dishes met our expectations. The kids enjoyed the Shanghai dumplings and I love the noodles in the beef noodle soup. Quiet place for family gatherings. Great locations because it's right off the 91 FWY and there is 99 range market, a bakery, and a few other restaurants if you decide to try something new the next time. read more

Mr. Z. Noodle House. First of all, it took almost an hour for the food to be served. They only start cooking after you place your order, but we noticed they prioritized other tables and to-go orders ahead of ours. The portion sizes were also much smaller than what's shown in their pictures. I ordered the Boiled Fish with Preserved Pickled Veggies, one of the dishes featured on their wall, but it came with cucumbers not something you'd expect in this dish. It didn't feel very authentic. If you're looking for traditional Chinese food, this isn't the place. Overall, the experience was disappointing. Would I come back? Probably not. The service was slow, and the wait time for food was just too long. If you're really hungry, this might not be the best spot. It's one of the few Chinese restaurants in the area, and while the chefs are Chinese, the food seems to be made with a simpler, more Westernized style. It might work for some people, but if you're looking for truly authentic flavors, this probably won't hit the mark. read more

Avoid this spot!!! All I got was the spicy beef noodle soup which was $14.99. Our total came out to around $50. We gave them $40 cash and the rest on my card. They charged us $29.07 each. **Be aware that the food that you see on Yelp may not be what you get** According to recent Yelp reviews that I wish I read prior to eating here (instead of trusting the menu pictures and food pictures), this place is recently under new ownership and it shows (and not in a good way). The best way to explain how disappointing this visit was is if you compare the photos of the menu and the food we were given, it's basically that meme of "What I ordered vs. What I got" but IRL. We came here wanting to try the hand pulled and knife cut noodles and soup, only to find that this place is no longer "Noodle House" but "Mr. Z Noodle House"-- and no hand pulled or knife cut noodles were on the menu. We ordered pig ears appetizer and it came hot, unseasoned, sloppily sliced, and had hair on some pieces (compared to the usual pig ear appetizers other places have that come chilled and without hair, just like the picture in the menu) None of the noodles in the soup we ordered were hand pulled, just instant noodles put into bland broth with some meat, bok choy, and a random hard boiled egg. The Beef Noodle Soup was anything but that. The beef chunks were tiny and the sliced pieces of beef that came in the soup tasted like they went bad. I had one bite of beef and didn't eat any more of it. There was a single small slice of carrot that was raw/not cooked, and overall not the slightest bit satisfying. It's the most random bowl of soup I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. A friend of mine got the pickled mustard and pork soup. It was also terrible. The pickles weren't pickled, nothing like what it should taste like. Service was also very bad. A server brought food to the table and didn't know what the dish was, we had to figure it out for her. It's very rare that I choose to not finish a bowl of soup or not take the leftovers home, but this was that moment. Overall, it feels like whoever is the new owner of this establishment does not know what they are doing or know how to cook. This place used to just be called Noodle House, but it underwent a change of ownership a while ago. I was reluctant to try it out because of the mixed reviews from both Yelp and my friends (who were also diehard Noodle House fans). I finally decided to try out Mr Z Noodle House today. They let you order pickup online through DoorDash, so that's very convenient. I ordered my favorite dishes from the previous owner's menu: yang chow fried rice and orange chicken. The price seems more or less the same as before. The food was ready for pickup in 20 minutes, and when I came into the restaurant I was attended to promptly. The interior has been remodeled and looks much nicer than before. Still, I miss the charm of the hole in the wall look the old restaurant had. I drove home with my food and sat down to eat. The fried rice is good. Not as good as before, but it still hit all the right notes with wok-fried smokey flavor and a fluffy texture. I miss the Chinese sausage this fried rice had. The orange chicken on the other hand is a massive downgrade. I knew the fried batter would lose some of its crispiness on the way home, but the chicken was downright soggy when I opened the box up 20 minutes later. Also, chicken breast is used, and it was not velveted or tenderized in any way because it was super dry and unpleasant to chew. So I had chicken that was somehow soggy and dry at the same time. I think it's time to move on from this restaurant. It's clearly not following in the footsteps of its predecessor in regard to quality and taste. read more

We only went because it was my sister-in-law's birthday and she chose the restaurant. First of all, it was dead when we showed up and the food still took 30+ minutes for the first dish to arrive. Then another 15 minutes for the second dish... another 10 minutes for the next dish... and so on. I was wondering why it wasn't a packed restaurant for a Friday night and now I know why. We had to take some of the food to go because we were leaving by the time they were finished cooking it. We were there for a good hour and a half and we ordered all the food at the same time. We came on a Sunday around 4pm. It got more and more crowded as our early dinner went on. The server was nice but it seemed like she could've used some help especially once more people came in. Restaurant looks like it was recently remodeled, it was nice and clean in there. Food was overall pretty good. The wontons, chow mein, and stir fry pancakes really stood out. Oh and the Mongolian beef was really good, the beef was super smooth and soft. On the flip side we didn't really like the kung pao shrimp it tasted more like sweet and sour. Placed an online order to-go for Mother's Day. The estimate was half hour. I arrived 45 minutes later thinking the place would be packed but there were only 3 tables occupied. The girl tells me they didn't have two dishes that I ordered so I would need to get the refund back online. I asked her if I could just order two different items and she said she needed to ask the cook. (She needed to ask the cook for EVERY question I asked) I asked for an item that was $1 more than one of the items I ordered and she said I couldn't get it because it was more expensive. I told her I would pay for it or order something cheaper for my second dish! She seemed so confused by this so I changed my order to a dish that was $2 less that my original order, which she didn't seem to have a problem with. Then I ask her how long it'll take and she says half hour more! Ugh. The worst ever. They could've called to tell me they were out. They also have no customer service skills. The restaurant has been remodeled inside since the previous noodle house place. This is not the same place. Yelp should not carry over the previous owners reviews. read more

We went and got the Szechuan noodle soup Not spicy or hot (temperature) enough. The other thing we got were soup dumplings which had the dough too thick. I will concede that the filling was good, but it does not make up for the terrible service. We had to cancel our last dish because it had taken 45+ min since we ordered. The noodle soup and dumplings took an excessive amount of time as well. If the service and dumplings were better might (strong maybe) have come back for the soup. When we went the restaurant was also not busy so we were confused but the extremely slow, lacking service. You know you are in trouble when the menu itself tells you that the picture does not represent how the dishes will look like when you order them. We ordered noodles and the scallion chicken. Both were very oily. The noodles were over stir fried/burnt. The scallion chicken was drizzle with a cup of oil! It only took us 30 mins from the time we sat down and left. We didn't even want to pack our leftovers but we didn't want to waste it. Other reviewers who mentioned that this is a Taiwanese restaurant that is not the case. There are some traditional Taiwanese dishes but mostly are influenced from the various region in China. The restaurant decor is nice with modern tables and chairs. It has not gotten to the point of greasy/sticky floors or tables. The quantity that you get vs the pricing of the entree is on the higher side. Overall, not a fan of this place. read more

So I drove over, entered and ordered Mongolian Beef plate. Too drink, I got green hot tea. The food was excellent! The restaurant inside and out is super clean ! There was hair in my rice. Gross. That aside, the food was average. The hot and sour soup was too sour and not that flavorful. The portion is enough for 2 people at least and I did wish they had a cup option to go. I got the spicy crispy chicken lunch special. Crisped well, spiced with szechuan flavors and overall pretty good. However, the hair in my food dampened my enjoyment of the food. Just happy they separated the rice and main course. I also wished there were some other veggies along with the chicken but that's a minor complaint. I will add they were very nice when I picked up my food. But again, hair in rice.... Located in the corner plaza where 99 ranch, Daiso, and Jollibee. Noodle house is a mom and pop type restaurant with fair prices on some good food. They have hand cut noodles here. We also ordered wontons with chili oil and also friend intestines with red chilis. Each dish definitely had that nice spice kick to it with also the numbing effect of some sichuan to it (I'm guessing). The nice lady who was our server was very polite.
