Everything tasted amazing! Great service, our host was so nice and attentive. We were watching Netherlands VS Morocco and she put the volume up higher for us! Loved that. & again the food, amazing and so fresh!

Noon. Friday. 1 person waiting for takeout. No other customers. I ordered takeout of beef chow fun at the counter. I chked the receipt it read beef fried rice. Told the young man. He claimed I ordered rice. I told him "fun" - twice more. He said he changed it. It came out chow mein - hongkong style. He claimed it was "fun". AVOID this spot . Deception is in play. Food - flavors are not right. I m t guessing this may Chinese style Korean cooking. Neither Cantonese nor Shanghai style. Pictures look ok. But the taste is off. Just my opinion.

I think they should rename this place Mr. Z's Dumpling House, they have some of the best dumplings I've had in the OC so far. The noodle dish wasn't bad, but it could definitely be better. We also ordered the smashed cucumbers (really, really good) and the orange chicken (yes, basic ,but if you've read my other orange chicken reviews, you know why I had to try it). The five stars are first and foremost for our server/boss lady/comedian. She was incredible, and honestly the biggest reason my boyfriend and I will be coming back. What truly stole my heart, though, was seeing said boss lady invite an unhoused man in for a hot meal. I heard her tell him to order whatever he wanted ,on them, and she even packed him extra food to go. My heart.Everyone should come visit Mr. Z's (actually... it should be Mrs. Z's, because she's clearly the magic behind the place). It has that nostalgic 90s Chinese restaurant vibe that I crave and also feels like a warm hug the second you walk in.

The food is amazing, flavorful and served piping hot. The staff were very friendly and chatted with us a bit. They are very kind to their customers. Portions were large and we left very satisfied, would definitely come back again!

Mr. Z Noodle House relatively new and took over another Chinese. The new owner gave the restaurant a fresh makeover, featuring new paint, furniture, and a new tablet, creating a clean and bright atmosphere. It's very inviting. Unfortunately and understandable, the business is still getting their footings. The problem with only one waitress/hostess and one cook cause the food to come out extra slow and that's with 4 tables occupied. I can imagine how much longer for food to be served if it's a full house. From a food perspective, we ordered a variety of dishes and all were "meh". 1- The green onion pancakes : Too thin and oily. (3/5) 2- Mapo Tofu : Oddly was cooked with the Five-spice powder so weird. (4/5) 3 - Bak Choy: Standard and simple dish (4/5) 4 - Pork Belly: Too dried and doesn't look appealing. (3/5)

This place takes forever for food to come out. Mapo tofu sucked and I wouldn't order that again. The inside interior definitely needs some work. Hoping their other food is better.

Last time I dined here was more than 10 years ago, my friend from Northern California came to visit Disneyland and we decided to meet here to catch up. It was not busy at all and we were seated right away and our orders were served promptly. The dishes met our expectations. The kids enjoyed the Shanghai dumplings and I love the noodles in the beef noodle soup. Quiet place for family gatherings. Great locations because it's right off the 91 FWY and there is 99 range market, a bakery, and a few other restaurants if you decide to try something new the next time.

The chow mien is very yummy. The noodles are chewy and the plate isn't overly oily. The service is very warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is very chinese, pretty, clean, and it smells nice filled with chinese food smells.

01/94/2026, I had the spicy beef soup and the eggplant plate, both lack flavor, on the beef soup, I counted 4 small cubes of meat and a lot of noodles that were too soft.. l am sorry for this restaurant you have lost a customer....

I ate here once and have been dreaming about the food ever since. I plan to return when I'm back in town. I had the Mabo tofu, beef noodle soup, xiao long bao, and two otter dishes and everything was so incredibly good. The prices were also very reasonable. I wanted to order more but decided to restrain myself. Best food near Disneyland for sure! I can't wait to return later this month!

Parking was easy, no wait to be seated on a Thursday evening and service was prompt and also checked up on us throughout the meal. Szechuan eggplant - so yum, arrived piping hot, it was coated in a super thin breading first before being fried and then coated in the Szechuan sauce. Slightly spicy, tangy and sweet, the classic Szechuan eggplant. Fish with veggies - loved how light but flavorful this dish was. Tender fish filet with garlic and a bunch of veggies, doesn't look very flavorful but it was very good! Would get again as a lighter dish compared to the others. Garlic pork - 魚香肉絲 this is typically my favorite dish in Chinese restaurants and saw it titled similarly in the menu but realized it's not cut into 絲 and it included celery, which the dish typically does not include. Not complaining though, the flavor was still great and I loved the dish, just different than what I expected. Sesame chicken - similar to orange chicken but without the orange flavor. Came piping hot and had good pieces of chicken within the breading. Sweet and sour, liked the flavor alot. The dishes came with rice! Would totally come back again to try the other dishes. Happy to find a local spot where I can get Chinese food as there are not too many options around here.

My husband ordered the seafood boil style shrimp. We also ordered extra egg rolls for appetizers. The egg rolls came out instantly! They were soggy and cold. The kung pao chicken was "ok" there were more vegetables than chicken. The seafood boil style shrimp was TERRIBLE! Had very little seasoning, hardly any sauce and came lukewarm. Yuck on many levels. The service was just as bad as the food. Never checked on us ONCE or even spoke to us for that matter, after taking our order, other than to give us the bill. Rude as hell. Really pissed at the friend that recommended this place. Hoping I can spare some of you the trouble and wasted money. It's trash. Would never come back.

We ordered my toddler (3yrs old) a bowl with orange chicken and half fried rice & chow mein. We also had a side of rangoons. The orange chicken had lots of flavor and everything was served in large portions. My husband and I could've probably shared our plates and my daughter had lots left over. The rangoons were good, nothing special. My daughter liked them a lot too. Next time we'll probably only order 2 plates and share amongst the 3 of us since the portions are so large. My husband noticed that the cook came out of the back to change food trays. He took the tray of beef and broccoli that may have been sitting out a while and replaced it with a new tray. I assume this was to swap the old tray for a fresh one? Not sure but I assume (and would hope) so. They all seemed helpful and focused on orders. It wasn't extremely busy, so we got our food quickly and headed home. To compare with other restaurants in the area, this was a better choice. More bang for your buck, it's clean and seems to have fresh food.

The pork xiao long bao came out around 8:20 PM, but after that, we waited over an hour for the two noodle dishes. Around 9:10 PM, we asked the staff about our missing food. The person at the front blamed another employee who had gone on break, and our order had apparently been made as takeout instead of dine-in. It wasn't remade until around 9:25 PM. Before that, we had already asked multiple times about our missing food, and each time the staff just said, "One moment," but never came back to update us. The restaurant is small, and it was obvious we had been sitting there with only one dish for over an hour. On top of the poor service, I was also concerned by what I saw in the kitchen. One cook was touching multiple pieces of kitchen equipment and utensils before reaching into the freezer and handling frozen dumplings without changing gloves or washing their hands. I also saw another cook holding a bundle of noodles against his shirt before cooking them. Seeing these food handling practices was unsanitary and made me question the restaurant's cleanliness and food safety standards. Waiting over an hour after paying while watching everyone else get served was incredibly frustrating, especially since we were starving. To make matters worse, the food wasn't even worth the wait. Poor service, poor communication, and disappointing food. I won't be coming back.

I apparently have emotional support soup. They're open late, which automatically earns bonus points for me. Sometimes a hot and sour soup craving crashes into my evening at 9 PM with the urgency of a medical emergency, and it's deeply reassuring to know that Lantern Garden is standing by to answer the call. The auntie working behind the counter was incredibly kind and patiently explained the entree options when I asked whether they came with rice. When I learned that a side bowl was $3, I briefly slipped into my "back in the day" era and held a tiny memorial service for the days when rice practically came free. Then I remembered it's 2026, sighed dramatically, and accepted my fate. I ordered the one bowl special with country style tofu, and of course, the hot and sour soup. The soup arrived at approximately the temperature of the earth's molten core. Did that stop me from taking an immediate bite? Of course not. I nearly sacrificed my taste buds because patience has never been one of my defining traits. It was worth every poor life decision. The soup was everything I'd been craving- tangy, savory, deeply comforting, and gloriously vinegar-forward. Every spoonful felt like my sinuses were receiving a warm hug while my soul quietly unclenched. If this soup had a loyalty program, I'd already be working toward platinum status. The country style tofu was equally delightful. The tofu was soft, fluffy, and wonderfully sponge-like, happily soaking up every drop of the savory sauce. Onions, serrrano peppers, carrots, and mushrooms, rounded everything out, creating a dish that somehow tasted both hearty and comforting, like something my childhood would have loved, even if it had never actually eaten it. The biggest plot twist was the portion size. What I assumed would be dinner turned into dinner and tomorrow's lunch. A few things spark as much joy as realizing future me has already been fed by past me's questionable ability to estimate portion sizes. Between the generous servings, genuinely warm service, late night hours, and a hot and sour soup that has already claimed permanent residency in my brain, I'll absolutely be back. At this point, it's less a question of if and more a question of when the next soup craving comes knocking.
