This is a weird one to rate for me. It's a neat place. It's in a trendy area. The food is good. The people are friendly and the food came out quick enough. However, the bathroom looked like a crime scene. It was awful. To top it off , after having to touch certain things within the bathroom, there was zero soap to wash my hands. Thankfully there was some hand sanitizer where you place your order. I've been in cleaner restrooms at truck stops in West Virginia. Then were the prices. I get it everything is expensive now, but $17 for a medium sized sandwich and two cans of Pepsi seemed a bit much for me. Throw in some fries or chips or something. Best hangover food and amazing special deals. We got a medium pizza for the days special and only paid around $6-$7 bucks. If you are a college student, this was my go to place to eat before and after a night out on the weekend! Big Akron staple right here. Definitely have had more positive experiences here since the pandemic when it was extremely hit or miss in terms of safety. I've gone a few times over the past year and continue to enjoy the quality of the deli sandwiches. Ordered one that included corned beef, pastrami, and cap reuben style as I added thousand island. Mr. Zub's used to be a favorite of mine. Now I'm done giving them chance after chance. TL:DR The food is bad and the service is worse. Let's start with the service. I ordered online, a very common activity in 2025, and when I received the confirmation email, my pickup time was for 1 1/2 hours later. This is a sandwich shop, that can't be right. So I called and it went to voicemail. Maybe they were busy so I tried 2 more times over a few minutes. Voicemail. I decided to go there immediately because either I'm getting my food earlier than 1 1/2 hours or I'm cancelling my order and getting refunded. I arrive and they seem very apathetic to my experience but my food will be ready in 5 minutes. For a Saturday night, they are slow imo, so maybe I'm not the only one fed up with their service. 10 minutes later I have my food and I leave. By the way, no one is at the counter anymore, they have a kiosk to order from. For the food. I get the food home and my Vincent Gambini, which is an Italian sub, is cold (I have an insulated bag because I get a lot of takeout and want my food to remain hot) and the hoagie is untoasted. They used to toast the bread and grill the meat but that seems to be a thing of the past. The tater tots were barely warm and verging on soggy. Same with the mozzarella sticks. This wasn't the first time I've been disappointed with Zubs but it will be my last. Hopefully a better business can take their place. read more

Came here after a recent round of golf, and the weather was decent enough for me to sit on their outdoor patio and enjoy my lunch in the sunshine. The Rocky Balboa option was solid...a philly cheesesteak style sub served on a hoagie roll topped with grilled, lean steak, onions, green peppers, provolone cheese and slathered with mayo. Against my better judgement I gave them a second chance...they won't get a third. Tater tots undercooked and falling apart. Only way to eat them was with a spoon. Royal Tannenbaum aka Rueben was beyond disgusting. The bread was not grilled or toasted, they forgot the 1000 island dressing, burnt grill bits throughout the sandwich, majority of sauerkraut on one half of the sandwich and the corned beef was like jerky. If you're using DoorDash beware that it's a possibility to not get your whole order if they are out of something. The last time we ordered only 1 of the 3 people in our family got their order. You are not told that they are out of something nor asked if you'd like something different. They just cancel whatever you ordered that they are out of and family members are left with no food. They also have a bar to get a drink with a sub. A thing like a regular deli in here is there's a counter. It's where orders are taken for sandwiches and other food. They bring it out to you. It's so crazy busy here at nights so it can take awhile. Luckily they have a bar you can drink at while waiting for your sandwich. I had the Margo Tenenbaum to eat. This is one of the vegetarian choices on the menu. It's about $5, so it's cheap. This comes with cucumbers, hummus, and radish. It's not like a normal deli. It's more fun. One night, my sister was trying to get some work done on her laptop when a skinny, black-haired, bartender wearing glasses walked up to her and slammed her laptop shut and walked off! No word! Just shut her laptop and walked off! I have no complaints with Zub's deli side. However, their bar employees are very rude. Do they not get paid enough or what? They all seem to have beef with customers. Then another time my sister went into the bathroom and found the same bartender lighting another girl's cigarette (can she even do that???). She stared at my sister and warned her "if you tell anyone, I will kick you out of the bar." My sister is not very confrontational so did not know what to say and just quietly left. Great sandwiches. They actually are in a new location and it's my first in the restaurant. My husband would normally order take out but we decided to go out together and found out that they MOVED across the street. They are now servicing pizza and wings from Capri Pizza. First time visiting this Highland Square staple. Admittedly, I didn't know the first thing about it. The only slight downside to this place, was it took forever to get my one sandwich. Ordered at 12:45, and didn't get it till 1:07. I feel like 22 minutes for a to-go sandwich is way too long. With that being said, I came in thinking it was more carry out friendly, so it's partially my fault for not knowing that it wasn't. So what did I get? The Philly Cheesesteak. I think it was called the Rocky Balboa. Came with your standard fair: steak, hoagie, cheese and onions. The nice young lady taking my order suggested I add mushrooms. I concurred. So how was it? If we're keeping up on the Rocky theme, it was a knockout. Fresh hoagie roll, packed with juicy, lean steak. Gooey melty cheese, and perfectly done onions and mushrooms. A slather of mayo to top it off. One of the better Philly cheesesteaks I've ever had to be honest. At $8.99, it kinda felt like a steal. Great value for what you get. I think the girl behind the counter felt bad my order took as long as it did. She was very apologetic. And lo and behold, I found a brownie in my sub box. One of the sweetest "we're sorry" treats ever! TO SUM IT UP: the food is awesome sauce, the service is very hipster cool, but don't come in if you're in a hurry.
