I visited my friend in Cuyahoga Falls, and after dinner at Butcher & Sprout, we popped over to The Watson (both are under the same ownership). I love speakeasies and this one was really cool! Don't want to give up all the secrets, but the entrance appears as a post office. We only got one drink each. I got The Alchemist's Secret Garden. I was hesitant because it was $20. But I thought yolo because the ingredients sounded too good; smoke infused gin, green chartreuse, ginger liqueur, lime honey & mint. It was incredible, and the presentation was gorgeous! The coolest drink presentation I've ever had. My friend got Love on the Rock. It was a vodka-based drink paired with watermelon pop rocks. Put a little bit of pop rocks in your mouth, then take a sip of the drink - it's a weird sensation but the flavors worked so well! The bartender that served us, and the host were both really nice. It's a super small space and they don't take reservations. Unfortunately if you have a big party, it's not likely you'll get in (we overheard that exact scenario while sitting at the bar). My husband and I went to the Watson this past weekend and we really enjoyed ourselves. All the bartenders are so nice and attentive. The drinks also taste very good. I wanted my espresso martini without dairy and the bartender was kind enough to make mine without dairy and it tasted so good. Highly recommend the Watson old fashion too! read more

Now *this* is the place for me. Does this look like a post office to you? Ring the bell and find out.....Enter through a secret panel that looks like post office boxes and escape to a dark den of speakeasy enchantment. The drinks were otherworldly; science experiments that led to the best old fashioned you've ever tasted. (And they use the "one big ice cube" that so elegantly graces the glass much better than a bunch of small pieces of ice). The drinks are on FIRE! (No, really....they are.....look at all that smoke rising up.) Drinks are not cheap, but they are incredibly well-made and quite strong, so you are really probably getting the value of two drinks for the price of one. The place smells spectacular; like spices and charred holiday warmth. The service is top-notch. Our server was very attentive and answered our questions with knowledge and passion for the art of making cocktails. I've been to the Butcher & Sprout restaurant here, but never to this secret hideaway backspace. I love the entrance! It's inside Butcher and Sprout in the back where it looks like an 1700s post room. I won't spoil it by telling you how to get in but that's part of the fun! The place itself is TINY though. It can probably only fit like 15 people at once and there is no space to even just stand or move around in. You give them your number to be put on a waitlist. We went on a Friday night around 7ish and had to wait about 45min. The drink menu was a treat though. All the concoctions sounded amazing. Looking around at what everyone ordered, it also looked amazing! Prices were high but I supposed you're paying for the atmosphere and theatrics of the drink being made. I ordered the Alchemist's Garden and boy, was it a spectacle! The process took almost 2 minutes just to prepare. It was tasty but strong. My friend got a non-alcoholic elixir and loved hers. Can I hear a little commission for the cocktails pleaseeeeeee!!!! By far one of the theeeee best experiences I've had at a cocktail bar/lounge. When you walk into the space it appears to be a post office however once you gain entry a secret door opens and you walk into the most danty speakeasy that will literly have your jaw instantly hit the floor. The space is small but the cocktails will truly blow your mind. There is seating against the wall for a more intimate vibe however sitting at the bar top is absolutely encouraged. The entire lounge is dimly lit but that makes the ambiance even better. The service was absolutely phenomenal as the mixologist was so knowledgeable, took their time with presentation, explaining the menu and even giving recommendations. I stopped here with a friend after having seen it posted on instagram and boy is this place cute. It looks like a post office when you walk in and we had to have an employee come out and show us how to "secretly" get in, but that was all part of the fun! It's very chic and small inside. It's a hit or miss tryna get in due to being so small and having a long wait list, but if you go on a day that's not busy it's worth it! So very disappointing.... Having originally grown up in this area (Cuyahoga Falls) imagine my excitement during a brief visit, in learning that a SpeakEasy has surfaced in town?! Upon entering I was greeted by the bartender who I initially thought whimsical or charming but I quickly realized was very condescending! (More on that later) While the decor was quite lovely, the establishment in its entirety is quite small. The clientele left a lot to be desired, as they were surprisingly very young & loud and obnoxious. Regarding our cocktails, the flavor was admittedly very good but the pours were pathetic. I don't mind paying for a high quality artisan craft cocktail at all, as I fully anticipated doing so.... But when 85% of the glass is occupied by 1 gargantuan ice cube, I was left with what was literally 3-4 sips of actual liquor! When I had the audacity to make mention of this (only because the bartender inquired about my opinion on the drink) he got extremely rude with me. He was shockingly snide & bitchy. I don't know when I've been treated like this. My friend and I quickly departed and we were appalled. I found it odd that they share a restroom with the neighboring restaurant. Bizarre. Clearly I will not be returning. I do not recommend this spot at all. The cocktail menu was surprisingly limited. Lastly, the music they were playing was abysmal. Not atmospheric at all. CUSTOMER BEWARE: we had a decent time here until we needed help with an issue. I emailed the restaurant right after it happened but received no response. Our bartender asked us what type of liquor we wanted in our whiskey sours. My husband said a rye of some sort and that at home he drank michters as a "good mid shelf option." The bartender mentioned they use sazarac rye. We said we are good with whatever. When the bill came we were charged $80 for two whiskey sours. When we asked about the price, he said they charge $40 a shot for michters because it's a ten year barrel aged version. When we looked at the bottle it was the traditional white labeled michters that we buy at home for $40 a BOTTLE. He then said this is just what I'm told to serve. I'm not sure why someone wouldn't ask if we are ok paying $40 a piece for a mixed drink. We also never confirmed that's the liquor we wanted. I believe we were falsely charged for cheap liquor. Completely ridiculous and we aren't inclined to return. We will also dissuade others from trying this place. read more

The idea is cool but the bartenders were extremely rude. I wouldn't personally recommend going there, you are better off buying your own ingredients and making the drinks at home. First SpeakEasy experience! Once you figure out the entrance, ( we didn't) it's a VERY cool joint! You're greeted by A a Ron...amazing mixologist. A dark warm setting with velvet couches, unique shaped chairs/mirrors/huge canine painting. The bar is spectacular! Although we only had drinks( my husband loved the Black Manhattan) my pink mimosa was topped with a tuft of pink cotton candy that was delish. We will return soon with friends! read more

We were on the wait list for 2 1/2 hours. When we were finally assigned a table, a member of our party was underaged. We had done our research, and the website stated "all ages are welcome". See attached photo. The hostess was very reasonable and explained that person could not come in. The two bartenders chimed in with less professional comments that left a bad taste in our mouths. It is fine to have a policy to not let in those who are underage, but then please be consistent and do not put "all ages welcome" on your website. This would avoid any confusion. Will not attempt to go here again even though it looked like a cool place, given the experience we had with the things the two bartenders said. The hostess was lovely and professional. read more

Came back to one of my favorite spots in town on Saturday, and the vibe was SO off! The bartenders were still amazing and made our drinks perfectly, but every time this woman in a black dress came in the whole vibe and customer experience was shifted. She had a very rude demeanor and seemed extremely rude to the staff, which is unfortunate because we know how amazing these mixologist are! It didn't take a genius to notice that she was clearly making them miserable. I'm not sure if she is a manager or what but I will not be coming back with her in there! We usually are happy to wait for the experience at The Watson; however, as of late, the staff here can be extremely slow. Some are far better than others. We encountered some very rude staff our last time here. We sat for 20+ minutes after being seated before being helped or welcomed. Northeast Speakeasy in Akron as well as speakeasy associated with The Workz is far better staffed. The drinks are good but the staff sans one person need an attitude adjustment or they need a staff overall. Last time we came in it was super welcoming and we loved it. This time, was all around just poor. There were 4 bartenders behind the bar not working on drinks or helping staff. Additionally, a group who knew the bartenders walked in and were served immediately and spoke about how they weren't on the waiting list before they were seated (there were 14 parties waiting and they were seated immediately). If that's how you choose to run your business, you'll continue to have poor reviews. Hopefully management cares enough to discuss this with their staff. read more

Were seated immediately and then proceeded to wait 40 minutes to receive two very mediocre cocktails. The place was about half full and another table left due to the wait. There were 3 employees who seemed quite busy yet only 15 patrons in total. The ambience and theming is lovely so we will likely give it one additional try; but we were so unimpressed this turn we left and went to a different Front street location and had much better service and quality. The price of the cocktails is only worth it if the service+quality is there and they absolutely were not. I've never seen my husband turn a second round down so quickly. read more
