We arrived…read morethere like 5 minutes before they closed, and everything looked great so I wound up buying two giant sea salt/chocolate chip cookies, a kitchen sink cookie, a sprinkle cookie, and a small yellow/vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. I regret not taking better photos, but at least I got a quick shot of the delightful cake. It was all absurdly good. I can't get over how fluffy the frosting is and how perfect the cookie textures are. The woman working was also really nice and, despite it being the end of the day, I didn't feel at all rushed or like she just wanted to close up. Here's how much we loved it: My husband and I went there yesterday while on a weekend trip. Today, we had to get back home fast to beat the snowstorm, and we seriously considered just risking it and driving out of our way to go back here. We didn't (safety first, etc) but we've decided to order our wedding cake from this place *and* our wedding favors. Seriously, everyone should go to this place. Everyone deserves this magic in their lives!

I thought the vegan gluten free cookies and magic bar was delicious. Everything looked great. Service was friendly. Overall I'd definitely recommend for treats when in the area!

Grabbed Saturday brunch with another couple last weekend. Had heard good things about this place…read morebut never stopped even though we are only 8 miles away. Located in the Main Street/Partition Street corridor, there is a cool downtown vibe. Street parking and a Public Lot nearby make for easy access. I got the Egs Benny and it was served with amazing potatoes and a light and tasty salad. Eggs were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Waitress was attentive and accommodating. I also ordered a Bloody Mary and a local craft beer because I could. The Bloody was decent, not mind blowing but still tasty. Oh and I ordered a dozen oysters while I was at it. They were of the small variety but tender, clean and amazing. Prices were reasonable to the area. Definitely will be back. No photos this time, sorry.

Thankfully…read moreit wasn't too annoying to get a reservation and we found the spot to be busy and popular among locals and tourists alike. Walking in we were seated promptly though we immediately noticed that the interior was extremely dark. Not a big deal but worth flagging for older folks who might have a hard time reading. Our server was friendly and relatively attentive and walked us through the menu. We started off with some classics including their bread and butter (which was tasty and delicious) and ordered their P.E.I Mussels ($19) along with their Fried Brussels Sprouts ($15) to share. The portions were quite large for everything (great if you're in a larger party) but we immediately noticed that the mussels they served seemed a bit off. Many of them were not opened all the way (a sign that they might not be the freshest or recently passed) and had a bit of a fishy taste to them. We ended up not finishing them and flagged them to our waiter. The other items, including the 14oz Ribeye ($43) and baby back ribs ($28) were better, though a bit one-note. The bay back ribs in particular were extremely saucy and the corn bread was dry and a bit tough to eat. I had to use a knife to split it apart as it kept crumbling every time I used a fork. Regardless, it seems like a popular spot for a reason and perhaps we just went during more of an off-night. I'd still recommend checking it out but avoiding the mussels if you go.

Spent the afternoon here today. It's a growing festival, so there are growing pains, but all in…read moreall a lot of fun. There is a line of tents from different vendors on the main drag. At each end is entertainment, one end had a kid zone with pony rides and bouncy houses, the other end had a guy giving helicopter rides. The helicopter was annoying at times, since it buzzed the festival, but otherwise not too bad. no idea how much it cost, we were there for the cupcakes. In the middle was a stage with pretty cool bands, and some food trucks. Prices were ok, but the LINES WERE WAY TOO LONG because there were only 3 or 4 trucks. We had BBQ from Handsome Devil BBQ. Pretty decent food, pulled pork and ribs were authentic bbq. they also had other stuff including mac and cheese and chicken fingers which hit the spot. Odd thing was that you could only buy drinks from one vendor, so you had to wait on multiple lines. They had portajohns with hand washing stations outside, and they were all kept pretty clean. and there were tons of garbage cans everywhere, so you were never at a loss for one. There were lot's of tasty cupcakes from a ton of vendors. More than we could sample. the ones we tried were all good, but after a while, even for a guy with a sweet tooth, its all a bit too much. The cupcakes were pricey - $3 each. The parking was a little hectic, and the roads were dusty, so when cars went by it raised this huge cloud of dust, but other than that it was a great day.

So much fun! Cupcakes are awesome! Great day with lots of vendors! Highly recommend it!read more

I don't remember when I had a more perfect chocolate cupcake, each time I've come here, the quality and service are perfect! Consistency and good service is what I look for. The attention to detail, hospitality, and kindness from Christian, the young man who works there, is exceptional. As I wrote before, the bakery shares the parking lot with the Yemeni coffee shop Shibam next door. The Yemeni coffee is just perfect with Sweet Elevation's treats, so don't miss this spot if you visit next door. I hope they can work out on doing something together. I've gotten hooked on Sweet Elevation's chocolate cupcakes. I'm having one as I write this review (these really are the freshest and best chocolate cupcakes) with some Yemeni coffee from next door - who knew how perfectly they go together. I'm very picky when it comes to cupcakes, and these are so soft, fresh, moist, fluffy, with perfect frosting with the sprinkles! Each time! It's really cute inside the cafe. What I'm most picky about is service, and I'm impressed with Christian, he's a respectful gentleman, knowledgeable, and really helpful with recommendations. Responsible, helpful, paying attention, intelligent. People my age often complain about the younger generation, they should meet Christian, our world's future is bright with young people like this. Good luck whatever you do Christian, and may you continue to shine as you do now always! Amen!

New local bakery alert!…read more In town visiting the parents and they mention a craving for something sweet. I decided to do a quick search to see if options have improved since a lot of the shops around here are only open 3-4/week. Calculated Confections popped up as being recently opened. The interior is clean with a small seating area. The owner came out to greet me and shared that she was working in the finance industry for 20 years before deciding to branch out and start her own business, hence the name Calculated Confections. Every day she posts a math problem on the blackboard and awards a baked goodie to the first few customers who can solve the equation. She had a nice selection of brownies with or without nuts, g-free and egg free chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, scones, rolls, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cannolis, and cake slices. My parents split the chocolate cake while I had the red velvet cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie that I won from solving the math problem. They liked how the cake wasn't too sweet and was moist. The cookie was very good and the icing on the red velvet was good but the actual cupcake was missing something - it was still good, just lacking that classic red velvet flavor. I highly recommend this place. It's right on 52 and just a short walk to the rail trail entrance. I'll definitely be back to try the cafe menu.
