This place used to have the best glazed donuts in the Midwest. They were square, light and fluffy. I could eat half a dozen in one sitting. They've recently changed they're recipe and now their donuts are round and all of the fluffiness is gone. They're very dense now - almost like cake donuts. Also, it seems they're sweeter now for some reason - and not in a good way. I won't buy donuts here anymore unless they go back to their old recipe. read more

Someone brought these in for a birthday celebration at work. I only wish I had gotten to them first so I could see all of the varieties. The birthday girl grew up in Marysville and said these bring back memories of being a kid and picking out donuts on the weekend with her parents and siblings. As it turns out, when my parents lived in Zanesfield we drove by here lots of times but we never stopped in. If I knew then what I know now, I would've made them stop. The square donuts are pillowy glazed donuts but they don't have the sweetness that some other places have in the glaze. I also had the square donut with the chocolate frosting with cream in the middle. This turned out to be a cake donut. read more

I've been wanting to come here for decades. Literally. I drive past Marysville, or even right past the shop, all the time. Being a night person, it is never open when I come past. I finally had a chance to come in the morning, so I made it happen. It's a small, local bakery, and it's exactly what you would expect, and hope it would be. A counter where you can have coffee and donuts. A rack displaying dozens of fresh donuts. Friendly service, low prices, great treats. Are they the best donuts I've ever had? No, but they're in the top tier. They are of the "light and airy" style, closer to Krispie Kreme than Dunkin, and that's not my favorite- I like cakier donuts. But they are very good representatives of that style, and just darn good in general. I only wanted one or two, but they are cheap and they all looked good so I got a half dozen. The sour cream were the most cakey, and were still light (for a sour cream donut.) Super fresh, moist, mmm. I also tried a raspberry filled, which was great, a custard-topped which was excellent, and another I'm forgetting. I'll be back again, hopefully in less than 20 years. They've been around since the '20s according to the sign, so hopefully they will still be there. If you are a morning person, get there! read more

Very old fashioned, old school doughnut shop. You don't see these places anymore except in small towns out in the middle of nowhere. These doughnuts remind me of how they used to be made. The shop is open really early and doesn't stay open too long. If you want the best selection you'd better get there early as they sell out of certain ones rather quickly. It's a small, old ranch house in Marysville. There are a few parking spots and also a drive thru. When you open the door you are instantly transported back in time about 50 years. It smells so wonderful in here. It's a bit pricey for the small doughnuts, but I would say it's worth splurging once in awhile for a classic old fashioned doughnut. read more

I really thought this would be a 5 star donut experience! I had heard so much good about Mrs Renisons Donuts and seeing how one is 89 cent and a dozen $8 I had to get a full dozen. The girl working was nice and pulling up I was sure I would love it. Its another one of those tiny huts witha drive thru and is only opne till 12pm, meaning they make enough to only work a few hours a day. Good selection of the usual, but none really blew me away. I'm a huge lover of all donuts (except those from a grocery store) and these were definetly good, just not good enough to drive more than 10 minutes just to get them, I think even if I was in Marysville I wouldn't go back, I'd go up the street to the Ribbon Box, now THERES some good desserts for ya! read more

Probably one of the greatest donut places of all time. Every time we have out of town guests we get donuts for breakfast from here.

Haven't been into Mrs. Renison's for awhile since I don't live in Marysville any longer. Thought I would stop in yesterday morning to get what I thought were my one of my favorite donuts. Older lady at the counter was very unwelcoming, in fact I wasn't even sure that she was going to wait on me until I said something. To my shock I paid over $10 for six donuts! I'm okay with that as long as the donuts are good. I love my donuts and will pay as much as I have to for a good donut. Jelly donuts are my favorite and the jelly donut I got from here was absolutely the worst jelly donut I have ever had. The other cake donuts that I got were okay, but definitely not worth over $10 for what I got. Very disappointing from what I remember of them. read more

What a nice spot! We drove by on our way to breakfast and decided to make a quick detour. Got four donuts for around $4 so you can't beat the price. I thought the donuts were good. There were a ton of options and it was a little overwhelming. I got glazed (hard to mess that up) and one with a peanut butter filling. A hometown favorite of mine. They've never disappointed and are a Marysville staple! They have limited hours so be aware of that.

I stopped in while working nearby and picked up a half dozen, after asking the very friendly woman working the counter for recommendations. The square donuts with the round glob of filling are called mountaintops, and the one I selected had apple filling. The filling had a nice dose of cinnamon, and it was delicious. The 'crescent' donut was touted as a favorite, and it was quite good. I imagine it would be a great coffee dipping donut. Their sour cream donut is lovely, dense and flavorful. Their custard donut is the one dark spot from the visit. The yeast donut itself was great, flaky and tender, but the custard had an unpleasant tang to it I associate with the bulk order custard that comes in pails, never a plus at a bakery. Their 'turtle' donut was okay. It was more than just frosting and nuts it seemed; I thought I spotted a ribbon of cinnamon or something lurking in the donut itself. I would drop in again, for sure. These folks get up insanely early to bake these treats, and their dedication shows in the flavors and textures. There's no need for mass-produced donuts when a place like this is around. read more

I've not gone to a whole lot of places to buy donuts but I've tried a donut or two in my life and I can tell you this place is incredibly fantastic. I recently took a big box of donuts to a graduation party and everyone there raved about how fresh and delicious the donuts tasted. I had more than a few people ask me where I got the donuts. My personal favorite is the lemon filled pastry as it has just the perfect tartness versus sweetness. An old-school classic donut shop. Don't expect to swing by for a sweet treat later in the day. Come early and expect to be met by locals having their morning coffee. The lemon mountain tops are the best--think lightly glazed and airy donut pillow with just-tart-enough lemon curd piled in the middle. I love them so much, and they are so unique, a business in Columbus had a box of their donuts out and even though the name wasn't on the box, I shouted out--Mrs. Renison's!!! before tackling the lemon mountain top. Haha. They will even custom make donuts for you if you don't see what you want and the ingredients are in the back. I like jelly donuts with no icing, sugar coating, etc. and they just go back and stuff a few for me, no problem (although I am always there when it's not incredibly busy). The donuts are the best available in Marysville. They are a little expensive but thats okay for a mom and pop shop like this. The donuts are very good but I did have a bad experience recently. The older gentlemen (possibly Mr. Renison?) was not very friendly while working the drive thru. I asked for a recommendation and he simply replied "thats up to you". Okay,, maybe that isn't that bad and I was being too sensitive but this is what I really didn't like. I told him from the start that I was ordering a half dozen, but he still put them all in a bag rather than a box, so i came home to six smashed donuts with frosting everywhere. We had these donuts at work today and they were amazing!! So fresh and you can taste that they are homemade! While driving for a tour of Marrysville, I was told these are the best doughnuts in the world. Well, challenge accepted. I hit them up for a couple. Now, these are wonderful! Light, fresh, perfectly just like when I was a little child with Grandpa on Sat mornings. These are the best donuts I have had near Marysville. I think they are moderately better than the ones that der dutchman has and miles better than any of the chain stores. They are home made and are delicious. Mrs Renison's opens at 5:30 and when I get there around 5:45 always has at least a handful of people there. Show up early to get the donuts you want. A dozen is $8.50 currently and a single doughnut is $0.90. They have a drive through which is convenient. They also have typical breakfast drinks and some other pastries (cinnamon rolls) but that's about it. Its definitely not a dessert place. Love Mrs. Renison's donuts, I was worried when Tim Horton's came into town but Timmy H has nothing on Mrs. Renison's. The customer service is great, I'm greeted with a smile every time and always leave with a dozen. I only wish they were open later on weekends. I guess I would also question why Mrs.Renison is not smiling or looks very welcoming on the sign but my husband and I find it adorable. read more

Excellent donuts, fantastic service. We visited from out of town. When we walked in at 6:30 AM the shop was bustling with business and donut makers. An elderly man waited on us, he was friendly and helpful. The tables were full of locals exclaiming how much they love this bakery. It truly is an old fashioned donut shop, in quality and taste. You don't find these tasty donuts at chains or local markets. It was so refreshing to enjoy a great tasting (and smelling) donut--we will be back. read more
