Let me tell you all a tale. One of travel. One of forgetfulness. One of absolute joy. I received a text yesterday morning (Monday). This text read "I got you a donut from CBus". curiosity peaked. Yet the person who wonderfully got me a donut I will not see until Friday. Oh no. what will become if my Donut offering? No worries they said. They shall leave it at my employers for me to enjoy Tuesday morning. Now this is going to be 48 hours after initial procurement of donut. skeptical of its condition I was. Yet I believed. Like this donut was Santa Claus and my gifts would be there and great. Oh my was it ever. A maple bacon donut. I have never in my numerous trips around the sun. so many I no longer have hair and AJ Hawk was a freshman as I a senior. This donut made it from CBus to Sylvania, Ohio. Right next to the soon to be mural capital of the world...Toledo. Now this donut was left and forgotten at two different households. Before it was delivered to me at noonish today by a dear dear friend. Now to the donut. It was simply marvelous. 48 hours. Hundreds of miles in cars. Yet it tasted fresh. The bacon, whole well cooked pieces, still crispy. The cream inside. A surprise. I was not expecting. It too was like it had just been shoved inside the soft donut canoe. Exquisite. I had my order delivered. I wanted something sweet so donuts were a great choice but thought I should have something for dinner so I also ordered the gyro. The gyro was what you'd expect, but the meat didn't have a hint of warmth to it and was really salty. The donuts on the other hand...they were out of this world!!! I had the Buckeye donut of course and had ordered the apple spice donut. They didn't have the apple spice so they substituted an apple fritter which is more expensive for no additional cost. The Buckeye donut was slightly larger than my palm and the filling tasted just like the Buckeye candy! Five years and countless orders later, it's time to update my review for this Columbus staple. At first I thought I would never order anything but donuts, but boy was I wrong. Over the years Buckeye Donuts has become my go-to for breakfast delivery. Yes, donuts are always included but breakfast sandwiches have also entered the chat. My go to is now an egg and cheese sandwich on an english muffin and a side order of tater tots. As for the donuts I tend to mix it up but my favorites are the apple fritter, bowtie, and cinnamon bun. I love that they are super consistent and always quick to arrive. My brother brought home a box of these for the holidays, and it only took a few hours for all to disappear. While I can't attest for the standard yeasted donuts (though everyone seemed to love them), I can say that they make one of the best chocolate cake donuts I've had in my life. It was fresh and decadent. You definitely can't eat more than one in a sitting. I will for sure be asking for him to bring some more next time he comes home. Picked this shop as it was recommended as the best apple fritter in Columbus. So as an apple fritter lover I had high hopes. For me this is not a great apple fritter. I look for a nice crispy outside, soft chewy inside with the obvious chunks of apples. This one had the crispy outside but the inside felt a little dry and lacked any apple chucks. Had they had apple chunks inside It probably would have helped with multitude and been perfect. But as it was it felt like it was at least a half day old and not that great. The blueberry donut had a good flavor but again felt maybe older than desireable. I understand they are 24hrs but some things tasted to have certainly been on the shelf just as many hours. I know the blueberry donuts usually aren't as airy as a plain glazed and more cake like but this one was dense and slightly dry. As for the service, that was 5 star. The cashier was helpful, and patient while I decided what I wanted and got request from others over the phone. I will say while I was already getting the Apple fritter he recommend that and the blueberry which both missed the mark. Maybe they are/were slow sellers and that was his way of pushing them but they were not what he claimed they would be. "Top favorites" Over all decent service but low grade donuts and unfortunate I can't eat the service. Late night cravings this place would be perfect. For fresh quality donuts with good filling in the morning probably not the best choice. read more

I grabbed a delicious looking Buckeye Donut for my son. He thought it was delicious. I grabbed two chocolate frosted with sprinkles for my husband and daughter. My husband didn't love it because he prefers yeast donuts and this was cake. My daughter loved it a lot. She thought it was one of the better Chocolate Frosted donuts she's had. The buckeye donut particularly was what you'd expect: a chocolate donut with a glob of peanut butter. However, everything was still a solid choice and tasted delicious. HIGHLY recommend the croissant cronut thought. Unlike other places, this wasn't dry and was actually pretty yummy! SERVICE: For as crowded as it was, service was as excellent as it could be. You ever go to Buckeye Donuts spontaneously to illustrate to someone the difference between a yeast and cake doughnut? And do you spell it "donut" or "doughnut?" There's no "hot fresh" light here but they are open 24 hours. This location typically has all the flavor options available unlike their South side store. Still my favorite chocolate custard donut I've had anywhere. Also, one of the best places on campus for cheap late night eats. I spent many nights grabbing cheese fries baskets at 2am and people watching. Additionally, they are really dedicated to their 24/7 open hours.
