Amazing restaurant and especially their fish on Fridays so good a really nice place to eat

Took my elderly mother there last week for an early dinner. Mom wanted liver and onions. When we were seated hostess was going to take us to back of restaurant but mom asked if we could sit in the first booth, she huffed and said fine. A man came to pick up a to go order and she berated him for being rude to her on the phone, said she heard him say something before he hung up. Dude looked confused. After he left hostess continued to bitch about the customer to the rest of the servers who were filling condiment cups in front of customers. Both of our dinners we're disgusting. Our first time in and our last. Nice restaurant , food was ok, but our waitress was the most unfriendly person in town. Food came quickly, it was decent, she finally came back to refill water my husband started to say he wanted dessert, she turned walked away and came back and basically tossed us our check. Told who we thought was the manager about our experience he said "oh she is one of my best waitresses" No can I get you a dessert to go, nothing so I told him if that was the best he has to offer that would our one only time there. read more

Food was delicious wife got fisherman's platter swapped scallops for xtra shrimp it it was all very good. Hot fries fish and shrimp very tasty. I got the cream of chicken over biscuits it was delicious looked and tasted so good I forgot to take a picture. Waitress did a fine job taking care of us she was attentive and very friendly great service. We first walked in the door waited to be seated as I looked around the place was very clean this was after normal lunch time. Floors all swept clean, no dust on window ledges or the vents on ceiling. Vents in most restrooms I visit are always dusty. Sign on the door said they were shutting down at 3 for restraunt maintenance, with this place as clean as it is I don't see much to maintain but keep up great work we will be back soon!! read more

I went with a group of people. We got there, got seated. However, the waitress was extremely impatient. Everyone got food except for one person and was waiting for quite some time. She kept saying they were working on it still. A cheeseburger and fries. I told we were separate checks, and she put some of our food and or drinks on not the right bill. I tried to get her attention to let her know and it didn't seem to make a difference. She also gave us our checks when some of them wanted some dessert, assuming people didnt want dessert. Then she said we can add it up at the cashier, but it was a separate receipt aka taxed twice. Then the person running the cash register was extremely impatient and kept telling me there was a line to the bathrooms. Not my fault. Then the cashier grabbed the manager, who wasnt helpful, either. I tried to explain to her there was wrong things on the bills, but she mainly was worried about getting the cheesecakes paid for when they should have been on their bills. Also, bathroom hallway was very tight. The onion rings felt like grease was pouring out of them, she mixed up drink orders. French fries had no flavor and felt mushy. Overall, frustrating experience. This is your basic down-home cookin' in the heart of the big city of Wooster, OH. On my first day after moving from a bustling, growing metropolis to this place one can truly call a "town", I just wanted to find something open on a frigid morning after some light snow flurries. They're open and happening even during the whole covid crisis early on a Sunday morning. Lots of people in here, surprisingly. Old folks from the country who just don't give a hoot. Think American style food that hearkens back to the baby boom. Diner style, essentially. Breakfast choices galore. Eggs, bacon, homemade biscuits, hashbrowns, omelettes just about any way. Don't stop there. Of course they have sandwiches and salads and a slew of other things. The menu is huge and with countless visits you still wouldn't experience everything there is to offer. Ample seating with large tables. Neat hooks by the booths for you to hang your jacket - commonplace 'round here. Kids toys by the door in 25 cent machines that remind me of my childhood. Staff ain't bad either, straight to the point and repping the midwest like it is in my southern stereotypes. read more

How did I end up in Wooster, Ohio by myself on a Saturday morning? Great question. I'd love to tell you. After a week of traveling for work, I was meeting my family in Wooster for a baseball game. Unable to sleep later than 6:00 a.m. due to being a disaster of a human, I got up and left Columbus much earlier than I needed, and decided I would just find some place in Wooster to have breakfast. A quick Google search while getting gas indicated Farmer Boy was probably exactly what I was looking for -- something local and with a wide variety of options. I was seated right away and the hostess brought me coffee. A waitress came over soon after. I settled on a sausage and cheese omelet - nothing fancy, but the kind of thing that sounded good. It came with hash browns and a biscuit. I wish the hash browns were a little crispier (I should have requested that). The biscuit was a little dry and would have benefited from being brushed with butter before baking. The coffee was pretty standard diner coffee - palatable but not outstanding. Service was quick and the prices were reasonable. I got to eavesdrop on some local gossip and cute family moments before heading out to the ball field to meet my family. read more

I mean, I feel like you know what you're going to get when you visit here. Cheap, delicious diner food. The hash browns are exactly what I want, and when I'm visiting Wooster, I'm happy to just go there by myself for a quick breakfast. I have to post an update about this place now that I've been here several times. I really like this place and so does the rest of my family. It's a great local breakfast place. I loved that they refaced the restaurant to give it a more modern, updated look. The service is always fast and great. The coffee cup is always filled and the water glass is always topped off. There was ample parking, even close to the entrance, which is always kinda nice :). We walked in and didn't even wait a minute to be seated! There were 8 specials for Thursday and I picked the char broiled pork! Our soup and salad arrived perfectly before our meal, which, to me, is a plus! I was in awe with the size of our dinner servings! The special I chose ended up being two portions of pork, one would have been plenty, added bonus for sure! The food was prepared perfectly, just as we asked, which seems like a simple request, but when does that actually happen?!?! We left satisfied and full and no room for desserts... next time? TeeHee! Just got a roast beef manhattan with mashed potatoes today for a to-go order for elderly mother-in-law. When we got home the meat was pure fat. Probably should have called and complained but will just never go back.....I Imagine they didn't think anyone would notice on a to-go order but should have never served anything like that in the first place. read more

So this is where you go to be greeted by happiness or the few times we have been there. The food is good, not gourmet but good. They have specials that are special, not routine. Many boomers frequent it, but in Wooster that is about everywhere. It's hometown friendly with good food and friendly wait staff. He then came over to me and proceeded to ask me if I had another shirt that I could go and put on because he did not like the shirt that I had on. It was not to his likings. Beware of what they call "creamed chicken and biscuits". It is awful! Chicken not shredded, but big chunks and green and red pepper chunks in white gravey. Who puts peppers in creamed chicken?! I was very disappointed how they did one of my favorite comfort foods. read more

Fraud warning! I went there with my wife and daughter and another friend our bill was $46.65+ I added on a tip to the signed copy. The next day when I checked my bank account they charged my card $99.30. The food and service was not worth a $50 tip! Nice family restaurant. I'd like to rate this more of a 3.5 but it isn't really 4 star quality. The menu is vast with a range of standard family restaurant fair from sammies to breakfast to pasta and salads. The food seemed incredibly cheap so a nice place if you are on a budget. The interior is very spacious and cozy, and has nice acoustics. It was enjoyable to sit and talk and not hear the entire conversation going in at the table next to us. The staff was very friendly and prompt - we were there on a busy Saturday morning/brunch timeframe as well. The food was alright. I had pancakes, eggs, and hashbrowns. The cakes were good, I enjoyed them. The soda was awesome, very tasty. The folks inside ranged from young college kids, families, and elderly, so a wide mix. Overall, I'd go back if I were in Wooster and wanted a family dining experience. It was a relaxing time. read more

Found this place on our way home from an appt. Fast friendly service. Clean restaurant with a welcoming home-like atmosphere. The food came out super fast and was soooo good! The portions are HUGE, and the extra details/requests we met. Each dish came with plenty of sides and sauces at no extra charge! My daughter had biscuits and gravy, each biscuit came with its own cup of gravy, the most tender & thick biscuits I've ever tasted! I ordered the Greek omelette which was enough to serve 3! Loaded with veggies, feta and gyro meat with two generous portions of taziki sauce. Has browns were well done as requested and fresh! We will definatley be back! read more

My wife and I went to explore Wooster last Sunday. We stopped in to Farmer Boy Restaurant for breakfast. We stood by the sign that said wait to be seated for 10 minutes while waitresses and cashier glanced our way with no one saying Good Morning or Hello or Someone will be there to help you soon. I went to the cashier and asked if we could be seated by someone. She replied "Just stand there and the hostess will be with you when she gets a minute". So we again waited. The hostess finally showed and with a sour look on her face from 10 feet away said "Two". Again no welcome or anything. She then walked away so we assumed she meant for us to follow. We got to a table where the hostess slapped two menus on each side of the table and turned to us with a scowl look. I said to my wife and the hostess. "I've changed my mind. I'm not eating here. I won't spend a dime in this place". We walked directly out. I'm not having someone act like they are doing me a favor by seating me. We went to the Green Leaf Restaurant and had a pleasant breakfast. Even though they were packed everyone was friendly. I'm aware it is difficult to find good help these days but the management needs to know how customers are being treated in this restaurant. Farmer Boy is a Wooster tradition. It has a huge menu, great prices and a great staff to wait on you. It is very no-frills, diner-like food with a lot that you also would not typically get from a diner. Their breakfasts are the best! But my favorite thing from Farmer Boy is their Cheesecake. Whomever makes this cheesecake deserves a Nobel Peace Prize! My mother and I go here at least once a month and it is just a nice, friendly place to grab a good meal. read more

Came on business trip with wife this Restraunt is a very quant, clean and very friendly. Was here 2 different times once for dinner and once breakfast. Wait staff attentive and had a pleasant attitude. Food was hot served with smile the portions generous! Good delicious. I was not disappointed coming here. Went for breakfast about 9:00 on a Wednesday. Parking lot was so full we had to wait for someone to leave to find a spot. Were seated immediately upon entering, though, and the server took our order right away. Wait time for our breakfasts was minimal and the server was pleasant and attentive. Meals were hot and tasty. I liked this diner a lot. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh. The eggs were great, probably the best I have had all year.
