A 100% sanitation rating is something to brag about, too! We have visited several times for lunch on our trips from Monroe to Marshville. All the food we have tasted was cooked perfectly, seasoned properly, and plated wonderfully. While it's tough to choose a favorite, the Cubano tugs continually at my heart begging for more. Breakfast @ 10:00 Fantastic experience! The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant is extremely clean and well maintained. Parking is easy. The food was delicious and exactly how we ordered it. We ordered The Hen House, The Travis (with chicken instead of ham) and The Southern Boy Wrap. The chicken was very tender! So glad I use Yelp and we found this hometown cafe with a delicious hardy lunch menu. And it was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. Our waitress was super friendly and did a marvelous job for our party of six we ordered the three sisters salad chicken tenders, the Cubano and the hen and waffles. I would recommend this lunch spot to anyone. It is really cute and is in the heart of historic downtown and quaint shops located within walking distance downtown. read more

A pleasant surprise in a small town with just a few bumps. This is a lovely restaurant in downtown Marshville that we decided to try on a whim when someone posted about it on FB. I don't normally eat a cooked breakfast so this was indeed a special occasion. Atmosphere: My first impression was that it was clean and well appointed without going overboard. One thing off putting was that they had a cable news station on and it was one of the more divisive ones. While I understand that probably at least half of their clientele enjoy that station. The other half would immediately feel like they don't belong. As a result, I felt like it would have been better to let the news junkies get their news at home and just have tv programs on that were apolitical. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Food: as with most places, they were short staffed and while it took a sec for our food, it wasn't too bad! The coffee was good. We had a little concern when we got there and we're informed that they didn't have any water pressure for the coffee machine but somehow they managed to get us some coffee. We also had juice and there's a basic set of choices. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken was well prepared and NOT over cooked as is often the case in smaller areas. The waffle was light and just-cooked. My partner had the biscuits and gravy and felt like they were pretty good (I think they are nasty so I didn't try!) with good flavor. Overall, I would eat here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a good breakfast and a nice short hop from the surrounding towns. read more

First time here!!! Party of 3 hungry ladies... the roast beef with a jus sauce is savory and delightful. The shrimp and grits had amazing Cajun flavor with that home made warmth just all over it. It had been a while since we have gone, now we remember why. Poor service, had to grab the waitress to order, only checked in on us once, had to stop people to get napkins, the toppings ordered for potato, etc. Had the steak, no steak knife only butter knife, probably could have stopped someone to ask but gave up. Steak was very rare for medium and charred on the outside, only ate a little, our dog ate the rest. Tables around us weren't please either, orders coming out well after people who came in after. I know this is management but light pour on the wine, offer 2 sizes if doing it like that, the glass looked empty upon arrival. Won't be going back. read more

They just opened for dinner recently Thursday through Saturday 5-8:30. Their salmon and steaks are top quality and cooked to perfection! This is a place you don't want to miss! We were driving down 74 after leaving Charlotte and pulled this restaurant up on Yelp. It is most definitely worth the short detour off of 74 if you are looking for an excellent breakfast spot. The restaurant is spotless. The wait staff were very attentive and accommodating to my wheat allergy. The food was so good we left a tip just for the chef! The eggs were light and fluffy. We came for breakfast, they gave us lunch menus as Well as breakfast menus. When I went to order from the lunch menu I was informed that wasn't an option. I ordered an omelet. No cheese. While we waited (approximately 30 mins) for our food they turned multiple people away for breakfast. They stopped serving at 10:30, one couple came in at 10:31. When people came in at 10:45 they were informed they couldn't order form either menu but were welcome to sit and wait until 11. My food comes out, COVERED in cheese. My grits were gelatinous and appeared cold, I didn't try them. Toast was cold with no butter. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy, I guess it's hard to mess that up. read more

On a road trip, returning to the coast from Asheville, and found this delightful restaurant by accident! We were heading south and the Bojangles was on the other side of the road, necessitating a u-turn (not possible). So, turned left, heading down a street anticipating a turn to get us back to the chain restaurant. Lo and behold, I spied a sign for Ms. Allie's Café. We prefer to patronize local businesses so we turned right and parked, heading into Ms. Allie's. So glad we did. It was a Sunday and around 1:30 which apparently was a good thing as we missed the Sunday church service rush. Not a huge selection but absolutely perfect for us (burgers, sandwiches and Southern Country faves!). I enjoyed the "Beaver Dam" and hubby had the "Twitty". Both delicious. Our server was delightful (and quite helpful). Seating choices: tables and chairs, booth or bar. Ms. Allie's a must when traveling through. Ummm--maybe we should consider staying awhile! read more

Our first time here so we figured we would give it a try with breakfast however we were told we only had 4 minutes to order breakfast and was rushed to choose from a menu that we were not familiar with. I asked the waitress give us the 2 min of 3 remaining minutes to choose from menu but the owner heard my statement and grabbed the order device and told us to place an order. (Really bad customer service) after we placed the order then she came back and said they were out of gravy so I asked for lunch menus since it was after 10:30 at this point. She was quick to say I would have to wait until 11 am to order from lunch menu. Will never go there again read more

We're from out of the area and were looking for a locally owned restaurant. We found Ms Allie's in the middle of what looks to be an older downtown area that's being revitalized. We were impressed from the moment we walked in. Interior was beautifully designed to feel clean and streamlined yet homey and welcoming. The service was friendly and quick. The food was great! It was a one page (front and back) menu that had maybe 15-20 choices. It felt like a place that intentionally keeps the menu small and focuses on cooking those items really, really well.
