Where to start? Unfortunately got there too late for dinner the next get we arrived in town for a family party but def went back for breakfast. Every FOH staff member was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is adorable, funky, hip, and fun. The food?! Yum! Had vegan grits and vegan chorizo on top. My bf had a breakfast biscuit with egg and idk what else because I was too busy looking at the stickers, decor, etc all around us. Picked up a housemade ciabatta and wow! Too good. Visiting our daughter at Wingate and she recommended the restaurant. Parking was interesting and took us a bit to finally find a spot. It is in downtown Monroe with street parking and some public parking lots. Our daughter said she has been there around 11:00am and got a spot on the street right in front. It is very eclectic with decor and items for sale. They have indoor seating, seating along entrance hall and outdoor seating. You order at one counter, which has a large menu boards above the counter. The young lady that took our order was very nice. You pay over at the bar area. It was not busy at the time we were there. I had the Salad Sandwich. You can get it with chicken salad, tuna salad or chickLESS salad. I had the chicken salad in a spinach wrap with lettuce and tomato. There are other bread options. The wrap was filled with the chicken salad. It was nicely seasoned and tasted really good. My husband and daughter both did the Pick Your Burger, a build your own. My husband had the burger with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions and pepper jack cheese. My daughter added bacon, lettuce, grilled onions and provolone cheese. They both said it was a great burger. We enjoyed our food. Definitely will come back. read more

I've been a fan of this company for over 15 years. We began patronizing the Common Market in the Southend of Charlotte which had a wonderful shaded alley lined with chairs, plantings, and unique people. Sipping wine on a sunny afternoon and enjoying a sandwich was a simple pleasure that reminded us of Ronda, Mykonos, Rome or somewhere way cooler than anywhere called home. So, I was excited to learn that East Frank's is the same owner and has modeled this location after the others (NoDa, Oakwold, etc.). Same great food, quirky way to order (yet it works), vino, beer, hot sauces, and unique gifts with enough social spice to get the ladies from the prayer group all in a tizzy. Often, I will drop in on a lazy Sunday morning and order a breakfast sammie to go. I've tasted almost all of them and heartily recommend trying one, too. Grab a seat at the counter, order a cappuccino, and while the day away. We went on a Saturday afternoon after Wingate University graduation. Happy to say our party of 12 had no problem finding seats. What an interesting place--you could play iSpy for days. The sandwiches and wraps are not only uniquely named but delicious ! They offer a great variety of bottled drinks, fountain, drinks, coffees, and a full bar. Ate here around 6:30 tonight (Sat, January 17th), and a few hours after that around 9:30 tonight, my stomach wasn't settling the food right. I did noticed after I had left around 7:15 that my stomach was a bit uncomfortable; but, thought nothing of it. I wouldn't recommend getting the burgers since that's what I had and it screwed up my stomach. But, the atmosphere of the place was lovely. read more

What a bummer. This is a really cool place and I've been a few times, because the food and coffee were good. Expensive- but good! I recently made a to go order and it was such an uncomfortable experience. I checked in and then went to grab drinks (they are self serve) while I waited for my food to be ready. Once it was, the woman ringing me up began studying my receipt and giving me dirty looks. I approached the counter and let her know I needed to pay for them in addition to my food. She immediately responded with "yeah I didn't see them on there" and sent me to the bar to pay. If I am already willing to pay an upwards of $40 for two meals, I have no problem paying for my drinks as well. Heck- I approached the counter asking to pay for them. I'm a repeat customer (or used to be) and am not stealing a fountain drink. It was just really rude and weird. Middle aged woman near the food area with shorter curly hair and a septum piercing. I popped in for a quick lunch on a business trip to Monroe. Loved the welcoming exterior and fun, hip vibe from the minute you step into the door. For first timers like me, getting your bearings on how ordering and paying works is a bit of a challenge. Once inside, turn right to order. Then, take your ticket to the bar to pay. When your order is called, take your ticket back to where you ordered to pick up your food. There were all types of folks enjoying their lunch here. I loved the eclectic blend of people. They had a great menu. Sooooo many drink choices and a great bar. I was working, so I only had unsweetened tea. My wrap was great - but huge! I could only eat half. East Frank is a funky little place. It's decorated with tons of vintage toys. The wafflewich is the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The downtown scandal sandwich is soo good, I get excited when its the special of the day. If you want to support a business in Monroe that's inclusive to everyone then this is your place to go. They are also the only thing place I know of that you can get a beer in the morning (night-shift people understand) with the caveat being Sundays because of NC laws. read more

I just love this place! Super laid back environment to relax and have a beer or coffee! They have fun little gifts and gag gifts for sale as well as a large variety of canned drinks ( everything from soda to beer to kombucha). They do offer food that always smells fantastic. We just sat at the bar and had one of the beers on tap. They typically have around 10 beers on tap to pick from as well as mimosas and seltzers, and today, they had frozen margaritas! And that's just the alcohol side. You can also order lattes and some teas. Staff is always friendly and quick to check in to see what you need. First off, the brisket sandwich we had was very good. We just had to wait for it over 30 minutes (?). There are multiple options for beer, etc. I had a good meal, just too long to wait for it. Now the person that checked us out was wearing a sweatshirt with the phrase "not a capitalist, not a bigot." While I was discussing with her the phrase in her shirt, her ignorance shown through and she turned away and left me abruptly. Not a good look for an employer. This is an interesting shop.
