Yummy breakfast food including grits and quiche. They have a cute general store inside for various cooking needs.

The Ruben at Provisions is the best. What is the best? It is not greasy. So many places make a huge, greasy sandwich where the kraut overpowers the sandwich. I don't like 1000 Island so I get it without and add mustard. I would prefer brown mustard (My family is German) but yellow is ok. The flavor of each item on the sandwich comes through with each bite. The area where you order is full of take home mixes, honey, vinegars and grab and go meals. It's a great place to seach for specialty items. Stop by next time you are in Waxhaw.

This is a cool store in the heart of Waxhaw, NC. Inside there's all sorts of spices and seasoning along with chocolates, taffy and country style knickknacks. They also serve breakfast and a variety of coffees. It looks like two store fronts. One side there is the dining area and the other sides there store. Parking was easy right in front on the main road through the town. I ordered coffee and a breakfast sandwich which came out very quickly. Or maybe it was because I was taking in the store side and lost track of time. Either way this is a cool spot to check out in the morning.

We stopped in here because of the concept of the restaurant and general store. Super cute inside, mismatched tables etc. You order at the counter and they bring food out to you. I ordered the egg scramble with sausage which ended up being dinner sausage (not what i expected). Portion was not great and they don't allow subs if you can't have bread. Chicken wrap was decent and potato salad seemed homemade. The store is super cute but very expensive!

Took a jaunt down to Waxhaw and stopped by Provisions while here visiting my sister. What a cute spot! Wonderful market with nice staples like local honeys, spice mixes, and homemade sauces. We did not eat, but the breakfasts were looking really good, too. And who doesn't love an Alpaca wearing a winter hat! Such fun stuff.....and the ladies there were very friendly and attentive. I'm a coffee aficionado (translated: snob), and my lavender latte was not much above average, but this little spot is worth visiting. 3 stars for the coffee, and 5 stars for all else. bk

Over the past thirty years, historic downtown Waxhaw, located a short hop south of Charlotte, has evolved from a tired little farming town into a charming mini food mecca. Even though it has only one stoplight, there is a constant line of traffic flowing thru it from all directions. Provisions is located in an old brick furniture building off Main Street across from the railroad tracks. Parking is located out front and in several other nearby public lots. You enter through a screen door into an authentic old country grocery store with original oak floors and beadboard ceilings, then place your order at the checkout counter to the right and find a table in the country electric dining to left. Chairs and tables offer differing levels of comfort, so choose carefully (you'll see what I mean.) I went with the "the Best Corned Beef Reuben"($11), which was loaded with lean, thin-sliced beef, sauerkraut and two slices of swiss cheese on buttery toasted marble rye. To make it lo-cal, I subbed out the Thousand Island dressing with spicey mustard. It was pretty doggone good but the house-made broccoli and cheese soup that accompanied it was even better. Thankfully, I made it back to my car with only minor heart palpitations. My wife ordered the BLT ($6) with a bowl of seafood gumbo. The BLT was perfectly prepared and the gumbo was made in house and had a slight bite to it. Fountain drinks are not offered but a variety of canned and bottled beverages are available in a glassed display case near the counter. I'd prefer a fountain but free tap water is available in glass jugs. No ice is available however. Considering how delicious the food is and the friendly service, this was only a minor inconvenience. When you finish your meal, grab a cone of ice cream and spend some time meandering thru the store aisles where all locally produced "provisions" are displayed for purchase. Overall, this place is a Gotta Try in my book. Lord willing, we'll be back!

I was recommended this great little shop with a restaurant by a local storeowner when I asked for their best lunch picks. She said her sister worked here and to give them a try. So very glad I did! You order your food at the front of the store and take a laminated seed packet to your table to identify your order. They'll bring that out to you when ready. I suggest you browse the store before sitting down to grab some bougie gourmet food items. I saw marinara sauce, flours, jams, jellies, etc. The dining room is a happy place, with murals, brightly colored tables, and fresh flowers. I chose a spot by the big picture window to people-watch as I ate. The food is delicious, too. I ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup and a scoop of chicken salad. The tomato soup was great! It was very fresh tasting, with a punch of basil. Perfectly seasoned, I needed no salt and pepper. The chicken salad is also good, but you should know that it has nuts AND grapes in it, which are polarizing ingredients. It was good, but I prefer a more savory chicken salad over a sweet one. I probably wouldn't get that again. No matter, there are so many more offerings here, I can't wait to go back and try something new.

We were greeted quickly by a friendly server who got us drinks right away. We weren't ready to order and he did not rush us. He asked us to move our table number to the front of the table so he would know we were ready. I liked that touch! We went very traditional for breakfast. I opted for the French toast combo with bacon and hash browns. My friend opted for the spinach and feta omelet. Both arrived quickly and were fresh and hot. My food was tasty, the bacon was crispy as ordered and the hash browns were nicely shredded and not too greasy. The only thing that was a bit off was my friend asked for her omelet to be well done and she had to send it back for a recook. There was no problem with that and it was back quickly and definitely cooked much more to her liking. Overall I liked the place for a no frills but well cooked meal. The server was pleasant and we never had to ask for refills. Definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a nice, affordable meal.

We had the Classic - eggs over easy, bacon, whole wheat toast. Very good, although the eggs could have been a bit warmer. We also had the Homestead Platter - bacon, link sausage, scrambled eggs, with a biscuit and sausage gravy - a steal at $13.99! Lots of bacon and sausage and perfectly scrambled eggs - a winner in my book! The coffee was good, hot, and plentiful. Service was polite, friendly, and professional. The menu also had omelets, benedicts, and items from the griddle. Warmer eggs brings the food to 5-star. I gave the atmosphere a 4-star rating because I found the place a bit spartan. That said, I'll trade good food at fair prices for atmosphere any day of the week. If you're looking for a good, standard breakfast, this could be your kind of place. I use Benedict's as my gold standard for breakfast service. I like my poached eggs runny but these were almost completely cooked, the English muffin I requested toasted 'hard' meaning I want it well toasted but it came out hardly toasted. The hollandaise sauce was a little weak and thin and sparse. The potatoes were over salted for my taste even though our server tried to fix them by bringing me a new side order, the potatoes were still too salty. So the Benedict didn't meet expectations but my husband enjoyed his sandwich. My dogs enjoyed the remains of the eggs Benedict - too expensive to throw out! But not the potatoes. I might be persuaded to try this place again in the future, but it would be because nothing else was available.

Biscuits and gravy are a southern staple and rarely have I had any that were really good, except here at Vicious Biscuit. Biscuits are their business. The most important elements are the biscuits and the gravy. Additions are many and varied, but if the basic two items are not both excellent, you will have a disappointing experience. The Vicious biscuit is the size of a hamburger bun. It is soft and there are bits of spice in the dough. These biscuits do not fall apart, but stay together and serve to soak up the wonderful sausage gravy that is poured on top of it. You can order just a biscuit with gravy for $8. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. Super choices, so take time to study the menu which is extensive. Portions are great, very generous. I had their Vicious ($12). It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle. I was hesitant as to the maple syrup, but it is just enough to give accent to the gravy, but not super sweet. Wife had Fried Green 'Maters ($9.50) which were four fried green tomatoes, their signature pimento cheese with a pickled okra garnish. She could not eat it all, so I helped finish off the lone tomato and a bit of the cheese. Very good. Vicious Biscuit is more that a meal, it is an experience, even a journey, through this traditional southern staple, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the trip. We might see you there.
