I have to start this review off with an apology to my wife. Let me explain. We're on a road trip driving our oldest sons car to Boston, and stopping at unique places to dine in along the way. Well when we pulled up to this joint UNIQUE was not the word I had in mind. All I could think of was......"what the @*#% was my wife thinking when she picked this place!!!!" When we departed this joint all I could think of was the old adage.....LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!!!......along with multiple apologies to my wife LOL!!! Now on with the review. Now read the next line in your best valley girl voice. OH MY GAWD THE FOOD HERE IS SO GOOD I'M BLOWN AWAY!!! I had the small BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich as did my wife. I had the Baked Beans as a side and she had the Onion Rings. Both sides were delicious with the Rings being cooked and battered perfectly, and the Baked Beans were NOT straight out the can like most dive BBQ Shacks. Grandma put some stank on dim dare beans y'all!!!! Yes'n deed y'all!!!!! I'm tryna told y'all sum'n sum'n and ya ain't tryna heard me!!!! Yep I'm tryna get y'all ready for the pièce de ré·sis·tance. That Pulled Pork sandwich is DA TRUPH!!!! Yes I said TRUPH and not the correct pronunciation....TRUTH. For y'all who don't know TRUPH is truer than truth!!! LOL!!!! That sandwich.....that sandwich y'all!! It was so good I now know what I'm gonna do when I retire whether my wife likes it or not. I'm gonna buy a RV and park right across the street from this joint and eat here EVERY DAY!!! I haven't had a Pulled Pork sandwich like that since I was a kid spending summers in Alexandria Louisiana with kin folk. We used to get BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches from this corner store near my grandmothers house. I always had to have two cuz I loved them so much. Today I wanted another but before I could verbalize my desires my wife gave me the side eye. Y'all know I been hit'n the gym hard to stay sexy for my Honey Bunnie, but on this day I was like bump dat!!!! Then again her side eye was quite menacing so I digressed and begrudgingly sat silent in my yearnings for another delicious BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich!!!!! Don't judge a book by its cover. This restaurant looks uninviting from the outside and the inside will give you pause. However, my family and I was greeted by the sweetest lady and we decided to give the restaurant a try. I know my husband and son was thinking has mama lost her mind. However, I'm a Mississippi girl and I am very familiar with hole in the walls restaurants serving spectacular food. I ordered the pull pork sandwich with coleslaw and onion rings. The sandwich was on point. It was bursting with that Mississippi down home barbecue flavor that I miss so much in Texas. The onion rings were nice and crisp with a slightly sweet flavor. More importantly, they had real brewed SWEET tea!!!!!! I was in heaven. Last, but not least the hospitality was through the roof. Ms. Barbecue waited on us hand and foot. I'm not seeing any recent reviews so I figured I'd leave a review for this place as I believe they deserve some more attention. Ordering lunch in Canton MS usually means settling for the local Chinese take out or quesadillas next door at the Mexican restaurant. Growing tired of eating the same thing every other day I decided to look through other places and found this local gem. Sure, it doesn't inspire confidence when you pull into the parking lot. And yes, I will admit I entertained the idea of turning around and leaving once I walked inside. But seeing as they had three people inside the small seating area I figured there had to be something to this place, so I stayed. I placed an order for the 1/2 pound cheeseburger and small onion rings after asking another guy sitting inside what was good here. The menu options are limited and I figured I couldn't go wrong with a burger. I sat down to wait and noticed that many people came in to pick up their orders and go. They seemed to all know each other (not odd for a small town I guess) and were all very friendly. Moving from Atlanta this was not something I was used to, and I found myself more relaxed. I was greeted by the sweetest lady that I believe owns the store and after a bit of small talk she had my order ready and I went back to work to feast. Let me tell you - if you're looking for a good old-fashioned burger this is your new go to. The meat was cooked perfectly, with all the fixings on the burger making a delicious mess. Onion rings were fried to perfection. I just went back today and ordered the small pulled pork sandwich and fries, and let me tell you I have never devoured anything that fast in my life. Smoky and sweet perfection with the cole slaw providing just a little more zing. As the other reviews state - don't judge a book by it's cover. Hole in the walls like this can truly be some of the best food you ever shove in your face. As I kept harping on Nu South BBQ, I kept getting tips to go to MS BBQ for a burger. I had been there in the past for some BBQ, but I never had given it a whirl for burgers. As the first review said, WOW, they are awesome. Ms Douglas will cook you a fresh 1/2# burger on the flat top to order and it is so good. I have been twice and the burger has been perfect both times. Ground chuck cooked to perfection with a tiny bit of flat top crust and medium center. Buns are simple, toasted white bread goodness. I give this place an A+ for a super cool little dive to eat IN when you want a road trip burger out of town. Located about 1/4 mile north of the square in Canton on HWY 51, just past the police/fire station on the left. I think they are open daily until 8 pm. Not certain about Sundays. Order up. Eat in. Enjoy. On a side note, my dad got the ribs with sauce and they were very good. Large 6-rib portion was more than a normal person can eat. read more

My mother loves hamburgers, so when I asked the local's where the best burgers could be fofund, they referred me to 2 different burger joints. "Ms. Bar-B-Q" and "Nu South Fish and Sandwich". Since I needed to order a burger for each of us I decided to try the burgers at both places, cut each in half, and share each burger. They both are GREAT but very different. Nu South adds seasonings to their 3/4 lb meat mixture and makes for a big, wide-mouth burger. Ms Bar-B-Que is more traditional & makes a 1/2 lb patty of pure beef. There is a painted menue board over the cash register counter and includes burgers, barbecue, fried chicken, fried catfish, poboys, and plate lunches and more. Ms Bar-B-Q is housed in an old gas station building and has a few tables & chairs. Most of the locals call in their orders "to go". This has to be the best hamburger in canton. For the price it's very cheap for a 1/2 lb burger. I try to eat here at least once a week. You should also try the ribs , never had a bad meal here highly suggest this place. read more

If you take the time to pass through and try this place, avoid the desire to try the BBQ pork sandwich and go for the burger! The BBQ was okay but not worth the trip into Canton, at least if your just passing by. Oh, and stopping by the park near the resturant is a horrible idea. ;)- let's just say that the neighborhood is host to some sketchy folks. Great hole in the wall joint. We were looking for bbq like always when we head south. Not much to look at on the outside but great pork and ribs. I was appraising an office warehouse building in Canton, and stopped by Mrs. Bar-B-Que for what a local real estate developer assured me would be "the best hamburger in Canton -- because she doesn't cook it until you order it." Boy, was he right! I got a thick, juicy hamburger and a big cup of cold iced tea for just $4.90. Great food at a great price, and great local character.
