This was a last minute drop in before I headed to the airport. I wish I had not waited until the end of my trip to Omaha before trying this place out. The ambiance is classy but casual and every staff member was friendly and helpful. I was told By friends to get the escargot or the lamb burger. Well I decided to get both plus aglass of Ruffino Rose. It was the perfect meal! Im a foodie but how the he k do you drop in on a place and not only have the best escargot in your life but the best burger as well?!?! I also have a new favorite rose. Escargot: cheesy, not too garlicky and much to my surprise, more than one snail in a few of the pockets. Nice soft warm dinner rolls to dip into the cheesy buttery pockrt! Lamb burger: warm soft bun with a juicy perfectly cooked med rare lamb patty. Omg, it had lettuce and tomato but who cared. It came with a delightful side salad with a lovely bright poppyseed vineagrette. The rose was sweet but not too sweet and not too dry. It has been so long since I have visited one of my Omaha favorites! I moved to Chicago for 2 years so this is only my second time visiting since it's been rebuilt. I'm so glad the owners and staff didn't give up on M's Pub! (Special shoutout to Scott Sasser who always treats my friend and I so well!) If you follow my reviews you know I'm on a search for Omaha's best French 75! The bartender outdid himself with this classic version. It's sweeter than most that I have had and I actually really liked that. We shared two appetizers during our time there. I ordered the crab cakes (which I love to taste at whatever restaurant they are offered) these are the absolute BEST in Omaha! The perfect texture, so soft but not insubstantial. If you are a fan of crab cakes you know what I'm talking about. The sweet Chile aioli was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy! The Beef Carpaccio was a nice surprise recommended by our server. This is a tough dish because of how thinly sliced this needs to be. Sometimes I can feel like mush in your mouth and that was my fear when suggested. I'm happy to say that was not the case. You could still chew the meat and with the soft croutons, it felt like an open faced sandwich. It came with gooseberry jam and it was a nice touch! For dinner, I had my old favorite. The Indian lamb satay. Usually I would order it without the vegetable medley but I didn't make any omissions for this experience. I wish I had because the veggies were a bit on the tough side but not bad enough to interrupt the focal point, the lamb and basmati rice. Honestly I wish I could buy the spiced yogurt sauce by the bottle! (I LOVE SAUCE). I made sure to try the lamb first without it and it was cooked to perfection. Medium. Ms pub is always a solid option when in the old market. Parking and seating may be tough on the weekends but it's worth the visit if you are down there. Ever since the fire in winter 2015, M's has been packed with regulars and reservations are highly recommended unless you don't mind sitting at the bar. Favorites are the baked dish and lamb satay. The baked dish is very cheesy and savory with butter and pesto served over caramelized cheese and the option of shrimp, lobster, mushroom, or escargot. Also the lamb satay is very savory, comes with a nice yogurt taziki sauce and rice. Dessert is also very reasonable at $5.95 each, the creme brulee is my favorite which is crisp and served with fresh fruit. Altogether dinner for two will run ~$30-40 after tip. read more

A not to be missed gem in old Omaha. We arrived early for their 11am opening and within minutes the tables were full. The ambiance was elegant. Cloth napkins and quality flatwear. I had the chicken salad. It was a generous portion with a nice lemon aoli and a good celery to chicken ratio. It came with a warm roll, delicious poppy seed dressed salad and a cinnamon roll. Steve loved his tuna melt that also came with a salad and roll. Our server was so helpful and managed several tables with aplomb. The prices were terrific. We paid the same per sandwich as we did at another Omaha spot. Wish we knew about M's Pub sooner. read more

OK 1st and foremost Taylor was our server and she was awesome... On point always had our beverages filled super intuitive about the menu. We were headed to the restaurant Collins before here so glad that they had 5 tables and couldn't handle it. So we came here instead we purchased a photo at the cathedral before we came. It was of this building when it exploded absolutely enchanting. I totally didn't even know it was the same building found out at the end of dinner when I headed to the bathroom. The drinks that they crafted and salad were the best we've ever had seriously didn't think salad could be so good the salmon toast was super delicious definitely coming back here again. A very solid dinner. The service was good but not out of the ordinary. I had the pesto pasta, which was better than average, but not incredible. The pesto cake with garlic bread, but I don't think a slice of bread is worth the price of this meal. The cesar salad was too lightly dressed, but very fresh lettuce. What's up with the legendary M's Pub that everyone thinks is so great? We had a late lunch there this afternoon that was abysmal. We each ordered a sandwich-- a turkey Ruben and a tuna melt-- whose descriptions on the menu sounded well thought-out and creative. What we were served would barely pass quality control at a mediocre grocery store deli counter. The Ruben had a pile of deli-sliced turkey, perhaps a barely detectable sliver of sauerkraut, no cheese, and some kind of dip on the side that apparently was M's twist on Russian dressing. The tuna melt was described as having artichoke heart, capers, scallions, cream cheese, provolone, etc. None of the ingredients that I've just listed were in evidence in my sandwich, just some anemic-looking tomato slices. The toast was supposed to be whole wheat, but looked and tasted like soft white bread. For a restaurant whose reputation had inspired our visit, it was disappointing to say the least. The side of cream of chicken and corn soup was well-flavored was a welcome warm-up in the refrigerated dining room. The "salad" accompanying the Ruben was nothing more than a handful of spring mix dumped from a bag into a small bowl, with absolutely no care or imagination. We won't be back. I'd like to state that this was the worst dining experience I've ever had. I experienced rudeness while out with my buddies for a birthday dinner. Wesley, the waiter, reportedly told my group of five friends that we left a terrible tip and that someone had not paid. Even though we were waiting outside after we paid and we all tipped , he accused us of dining and dashing. We are certain that everyone paid, signed the receipt, and he was the one to check us out. I told him to keep the change after paying cash for my dinner, so hopefully he didn't pocket it for himself. This old school but still classically stylish Omaha restaurant has been serving delicious food for decades, with a brief pause following a fire. It's a great place for people watching, whether out on their enlarged patio or indoors. The food is solid, if not spectacular. Service is friendly and efficient. The wine list is nice, and wines by the glass are sold by the case every day, I would imagine. M's Pub is an Omaha institution and probably the oldest restaurant open in the greater downtown/Old Market area, which says they are doing something right. read more

Had a one night stay in Omaha and decided to stop by a local suggestion- M's Pub! I was really impressed with the venue. It was really chic and dimly light with a really cool use of mirrors all around. There had a feather large menu with tons of options that I would love to come back and try sometime. I'd say there is probably something for everyone. The pot roast is what I decided upon for my dinner and it was quite the meal. There aren't many places you'll find a pot roast on the menu, especially the more north you get. The roast was practically falling apart it was so tender and it was just the right amount of savory. The demi glacé also had tremendous flavor and really tied everything together for me. The potatoes did, however, have cheese in them, I'm sure. I saw that havarti was pretty popular on their menu, but wasn't listed in the masked potatoes, so be sure to look out for that. I didn't mind the cheese too much, but could manage to eat all of the potatoes at that point. The service here is also really great, and you get a decent helping of whatever you order! Not a bad option for downtown dining, but M's might not be on my 'go to' list. I was honestly a little disappointed with our most recent dinner here for NYE. Some would say that you shouldn't judge based on a holiday meal, but I think this is when service, drinks and food should absolutely be at their best. Holidays like this and Friday/Saturday nights are when restaurants bring their A-game. And our meal last night fell a little flat. For starters, why at a nice restaurant like this would you charge for extra olives in a martini? Was someone taking advantage of this in the past? I understand that there's probably some labor involved in stuffing the olives with blue cheese - and maybe it's an expensive blue - but when we're spending $30 an entree, is there really call for charging an additional $1 for an extra 2 olives in a martini? Ranting aside, our meals were surprisingly devoid of flavor. Sad because I specifically ordered the Kijiki Marlin because of the description... raspberry-ginger coulis, Israeli couscous and goat cheese? Sign me up for that ride. While I ate all of the fish, I left the couscous relatively untouched as it seemed entirely unseasoned. The green beans were blanched - the way I like them - but also didn't seem to have enough punch for me. Maybe my taste buds were off? Bill had the opposite issue with his entree. The Vermicelli Bowl was entirely too sweet for his liking. And strangely, it was like no vermicelli I've ever seen before. Yes, the description listed 'green curry' but I'd imagined more of a Vietnamese cold rice vermicelli dish and less of a Thai green curry soup. He actually didn't eat it, due to a permeating taste of sweetness that wasn't palatable at all. This dish was graciously taken off our ticket with no questions asked. Appetizers were the highlight (and the warm rolls... a bag of which I seriously considered sneaking out of the coat closet). We started with the Chicken and Waffles, though I was much more impressed by the Foie Gras Parfait. Confusing name notwithstanding, it was more of a spreadable pate served with grilled bread. Huge wow factor there. And for obvious bonuses of location, ambiance and service, I'll definitely dine at M's again. It just probably won't be at my suggestion. read more

Service was okay, they were pretty packed. Our server was friendly. The menu/a were so lengthy that they were overwhelming. So many options. We ordered the Omaha lavosh and a Reuben to split. Sandwiches come with a small spring salad and for $1 you can split the sandwich(brought on two plates) and get an extra salad. That was a nice touch. The lavosh was definitely crispy and the horseradish drizzle was nice. Not much meat on it to really judge but the mushrooms were really good. The Reuben was disappointing. There was so much sliced corn beef that that was the only thing you tasted. The dressing was served on the side, very minimal sauerkraut, and the bread wasn't identifiable as rye. Had the pasta with shrimp. It was good but cold. My friends steak came to the table cold as well. He had ordered the soup which after getting my salad he had to ask for as it was forgotten. M's pub is an extremely well known restaurant in the Omaha area. Especially after burning down, the restaurant has been reconstructed and is serving their food better than ever. FOOD : I ordered the skinny salmon plate. With this comes different colored cut carrots (seemingly steamed), salmon of course, and a side of salad. The salmon was exceptional, probably one of my top two places to get salmon in Omaha. The outside was crisp but tender in the inside, juicy with grilled flavor, just absolutely done perfect. All the flavors of the salmon played together with ease. I was a smidge disappointed in the rest of the plate. The carrots were softened a little, but still hard, I would have liked them to be cooked through a little more than they were. They also were very bland. I was hoping for some flavor with them, but they were very boring and took down the rest of the plate. The side salad was really great and had a pink poppyseed sweet dressing which was lovely. My boyfriend got the falafel plate. He said he really loved it, he would have like the falafel's to be more crispy on the outside. He got lamb and that was his first time ever having it, and he loved it. The meat was tender and juicy, bursting with flavor and satisfying. He liked the spices and how the flavors mixed together and was please with his dish. SERVICE : our waitress was Sam, she did awesome. She was attentive and kind, they all seemed pretty nice from what I could tell. I enjoyed the service there and it helped make the experience even better. ATMOSPHERE : M's pub Has high ceilings and white Brick walls. There is a bar area where you can sit, or there are tables inside and outside. There are not many tables, so make sure to make a reservation early on, especially on weekends, there are few tables available. I had to make a reservation on Friday for Sunday, just to get a seat inside at a reasonable time. The attire is more upscale, you could probably get by with a fancy casual. I would say this is a place more for a date night, or the in-laws to get together. They do have takeout, if you are wanting to order out. Overall, I had a great experience at M's pub. The only reason I gave it four stars was because the woman I talk to you on the phone with to make reservations was quite rude, and my plate was a little bland. Other than that, I had a great experience, and if you're looking for awesome salmon, clean food, or good lamb, come check this place out. read more

A couple in front of us got turned away because there weren't any openings until ten. We told the hostess our names and were seated shortly after. Our waitress was friendly and was attentive without hovering. The food was great. I had the lamb with gnocchi and my boyfriend had the chicken thighs. Well I must say I was pretty underwhelmed by my dining experience here. I came with a bunch of girlfriends celebrating a birthday. I had high hopes because it was 4 stars. My girlfriend and I decided to split a few things so we could try more food. I started with a wedge salad which was anything but a wedge. Then we had the Santa Fe Lahvosh which was really good and definitely the best of everything I ate and then we had the Sockeye Salmon. I do not recommend getting the Salmon at all. It was so over cooked and dry. Salmon should be wet soft and flaky. This was anything but that. There was also some sort of lobster that was the WORST way I have ever eaten Lobster in my life. The best part about this dish was the risotto. I could have eaten just the risotto and been happy. But . . . $37 dollars for severely over cooked salmon is ridiculous. We ended the night with dessert. I had the creme brûlée and it was nothing to write home about. In fact you could still taste the grainy flour in it. I think if all you ever order is the Lahvosh than you would love this place but my personal opinion is if you want 4 stars you must make multiple unique dishes well. I would go again to try another Lahvosh but that's it. As for service. It was fine. I hate when servers automatically put lemon in my water/carafe. It's gross. Our server did however swap my friends birthday dessert out when we tasted it and realized it tasted old. Like stale bread. In summary if you go get the LAHVOSH! read more
