The staff did a great job keeping things moving, and once we found a table, the service and food both came out quickly. The confusing part was that it was self-seating despite a line stretching outside the building. Having dozens of people wandering around hunting for tables felt pretty chaotic, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]many people seemed frustrated by it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Even the staff seemed more stressed because of the chaos. Went down with a group during CWS and whoever they hired for security were very rude and trashed our friends very small purse then we get inside and see a ton of people with larger purses than they had. Super frustrating for a $20 cover but it is CWS so expected. Ended up getting a table inside and some food. Watched the first half of the Finals game. Service was decent for the craziness. Food was meh, frozen burger patty taste, chicken strip breading was solid but chicken was very dry. Cookie dessert was good! The Matt (Old Mattress Factory) is a nice spot downtown to catch a game or hang out during the events down there like the CWS, etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is basically an upscale-ish sports bar style. They have exposed brick and wood, but also neon lights and bar signs. It's an eclectic mix, but I'd say it's more on the casual side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We have been during the aforementioned huge events downtown, and it can get VERY busy. During those times, we've just basically grabbed a drink or two and left.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, we went recently during a normal time of year with no big events happening in the area, and it was pretty dead (I think we were also there at a weird time, so no shade there, just that it was not busy like usual.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was good, and we had a server who was definitely a pro in the restaurant scene. He checked on us just enough to make sure we were happy, but not enough to be an interruption. The food is pretty tasty for bar fare. We started with the pretzel bites that come with beer cheese dip. They are served warm and buttery, as is the cheese dip (warm, not buttery). Eat them peretty fast before they get cold because they become little rocks if they get cold. Entree-wise, we shared the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese and Grilled Salmon. The BBQ Pulled Pork Mac was very flavorful and creamy. It's a huge serving so we definitely had leftovers for later with this one. The salmon came atop a bed of rice and green beans, with a sweet mango topping. It was a lot lighter than the BBQ Mac and Cheese, so it was nice to have the two entrees to share, having a little lighter option than the heavier/creamy/meaty option. We also wanted to try a dessert, so we opted for the chocolate brownie (which wasn't on the menu that we saw, but our server recommended it). It was served piping hot and came with vanilla ice cream on the side, along with a few little dollops of whipped cream. Very filling and sweet, and perfect for sharing. I don't know if anyone could eat it all by themselves. This is definitely not fine dining or anything, but for bar food, it's pretty good. One thing I will note, though, is that it is definitely not inexpensive (but what downtown is?) I had a great experience grabbing dinner at the Matt, and I will likely be back again! The food was delicious; my friend and I both ordered the Maverick burger, which was tender, juicy and very impressive. The fries were a solid side, not anything super impressive but still good. We also got wings as an appetizer and they were delicious and flavorful! Our frozen margaritas were a little strong, but good regardless. The food came out quickly and our server was amazing! I stopped into The Matt, on purpose, for a late lunch after arriving in Omaha. I was seated immediately, and my server came quickly. His name was Bret and he is a great server. He was pleasant and efficient. I asked for recommendations about appetizers and got some good advice. I ended up having the cheese curds with ranch dressing and I think the drink I had was the huckleberry lemonade which is alcoholic and it was delicious. After enjoying some hot cheese curds, I ordered the Reuben with tater tots, again after discussing options with Bret. I haven't been back to The Mattress Factory in a while since no longer working downtown, so it was nice to revisit. Early dinner hour on a Saturday (4:30-ish) we watched it fill up rather quickly as 5pm came and went. I initially thought my margarita was a great/generous size, but when it doesn't taste very good, that's not really a benefit. It was almost a little soapy (in which case I would've sent it back), but when my cohort tasted it, she said, "No, it's just not very good." She was very pleased with her beer selection, though. My BlueJay burger was delicious, cooked to order, and the fries were very good as well. The Chicken Wrap was large enough for leftovers and was very tasty. And the tater tots? Better than you ever could've dreamed in the school cafeteria. Crunchy, salty and delicious! The Matt was excellent and we would definitely go there again. The cheese curds were probably the best we've ever had--perfectly crisped on the outside with cheese that stretched on the inside. The onion rings were ok, but not special. Bookguy ordered the ten wing appetizer with honey garlic sauce for his main. He thought they were great--meaty, tender, and the sauce was perfect. He was surprised they didn't come with moist towelettes for cleaning fingers. Turns out they do, the server just forgot. He was very attentive, however. I ordered the half size southwest salad with chicken, which is actually a pretty big salad. The mixed greens, black bean and corn salsa, cheddar jack cheese, with house spicy ranch dressing and garnished with tortilla strips was very tasty. So, it is a favorite place to meet up with family and friends when we are in town. This time I ordered the Shrimp Tacos with a Boulevard Wheat beer. The tacos were delicious with just enough kick. They don't do anything well, and out of the 10 times I have had to go there this year with various coworkers, service never gets better. I visited The Matt for lunch one day. We got a table quickly, and the service was quick, great for lunchtime. The Matt has a lively, sports bar feel and is very busy during college World Series and other nearby events. Even at lunch, it was a bit noisy in there. I ordered a reuben, which I thought was pretty good and was a good size. The waitress was nice and very attentive! I enjoyed my visit and would come back, especially at night and before a game or concert to get that experience and try some of their drinks from the bar. Was working in Omaha for two weeks and someone suggested this place and it was so good we ate there almost every night.

I ordered at the bar for take out. They had a great selection of pub food and the service was excellent.

This is the second time I've been to this restaurant, and it did not disappoint once again. My family and I visited the first time, and then I visited with my mom the second trip. From all the pictures I've posted we've had queso, guacamole, artichoke and spinach, dip, chicken wraps, blackened chicken sandwiches, salads, and French dip sandwich. All have been delicious! It's hard to compare which one I would prefer for a side... the mac & cheese is good, but the baked beans are hard to beat. Their margaritas are tasty, and they have a good selection of beers on tap.
