If you need a food hug, this is the home of some great comfort food! A good place to stop when there's no major game events at the CHI arena next-door, otherwise be prepared for a bit of a crowd. A large venue with plenty of outdoor parking offers an oversized dining room, party room for those needing a place to gather, and a long bar where you can lovingly gaze upon a line of beer taps with plenty of local selections. Formally the old mattress factory, it is now just the Matt. Still offering plenty of bar food appetizers in generous portions, burgers and sandwiches galore, with a nice selection of side options to mix things up a bit. For those with plenty of willpower there are healthy salad options too! We enjoyed wonderful service with plenty of attention and never lacked for food or beverage. Even after being open for a number of years, the restaurant is well maintained and clean yet still maintains that old world charm Check out the Matt bar and grill when you're in the downtown area and looking for a menu that will please everybody. The size of this venue allows for an accommodation of larger groups very easily.

I had a great experience grabbing dinner at the Matt, and I will likely be back again! The food was delicious; my friend and I both ordered the Maverick burger, which was tender, juicy and very impressive. The fries were a solid side, not anything super impressive but still good. We also got wings as an appetizer and they were delicious and flavorful! Our frozen margaritas were a little strong, but good regardless. The food came out quickly and our server was amazing! She was very sweet and attentive, and truly made our dinner even better. I will note that the parking was very confusing and not well marked here, so both of us had trouble finding the entrance at first.

The Matt (Old Mattress Factory) is a nice spot downtown to catch a game or hang out during the events down there like the CWS, etc. The vibe is basically an upscale-ish sports bar style. They have exposed brick and wood, but also neon lights and bar signs. It's an eclectic mix, but I'd say it's more on the casual side. We have been during the aforementioned huge events downtown, and it can get VERY busy. During those times, we've just basically grabbed a drink or two and left. However, we went recently during a normal time of year with no big events happening in the area, and it was pretty dead (I think we were also there at a weird time, so no shade there, just that it was not busy like usual.) The service was good, and we had a server who was definitely a pro in the restaurant scene. He checked on us just enough to make sure we were happy, but not enough to be an interruption. The food is pretty tasty for bar fare. We started with the pretzel bites that come with beer cheese dip. They are served warm and buttery, as is the cheese dip (warm, not buttery). Eat them peretty fast before they get cold because they become little rocks if they get cold. Entree-wise, we shared the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese and Grilled Salmon. The BBQ Pulled Pork Mac was very flavorful and creamy. It's a huge serving so we definitely had leftovers for later with this one. The salmon came atop a bed of rice and green beans, with a sweet mango topping. It was a lot lighter than the BBQ Mac and Cheese, so it was nice to have the two entrees to share, having a little lighter option than the heavier/creamy/meaty option. We also wanted to try a dessert, so we opted for the chocolate brownie (which wasn't on the menu that we saw, but our server recommended it). It was served piping hot and came with vanilla ice cream on the side, along with a few little dollops of whipped cream. Very filling and sweet, and perfect for sharing. I don't know if anyone could eat it all by themselves. This is definitely not fine dining or anything, but for bar food, it's pretty good. One thing I will note, though, is that it is definitely not inexpensive (but what downtown is?) I'd say this is a nice laid back spot to check out in the downtown area, especially if you go when it's not busy during an event!

I stopped into The Matt, on purpose, for a late lunch after arriving in Omaha. I was seated immediately, and my server came quickly. His name was Bret and he is a great server. He was pleasant and efficient. I asked for recommendations about appetizers and got some good advice. I ended up having the cheese curds with ranch dressing and I think the drink I had was the huckleberry lemonade which is alcoholic and it was delicious. After enjoying some hot cheese curds, I ordered the Reuben with tater tots, again after discussing options with Bret. He checked on me while I ate and watched some NCAA basketball and it was an overall very pleasant experience. The food was delicious; that Reuben corned beef meat was tender and it had the perfect amount of sauerkraut and 1000 island and I could have licked that plate clean! I got a picture of the cheese curds but was so excited about that Reuben I forgot to take a picture lol!!

Was hanging out with someone that lived in Omaha and they suggested this place and it was very close to my hotel. Wanted to watch a Baylor basketball game and they had it showing here. Got a beer, some wings and cheese curds. Pleased with the quality of the wings+ curds. Even got a cup that was served water in to keep as a souvenir.

I haven't been back to The Mattress Factory in a while since no longer working downtown, so it was nice to revisit. Early dinner hour on a Saturday (4:30-ish) we watched it fill up rather quickly as 5pm came and went. I initially thought my margarita was a great/generous size, but when it doesn't taste very good, that's not really a benefit. It was almost a little soapy (in which case I would've sent it back), but when my cohort tasted it, she said, "No, it's just not very good." She was very pleased with her beer selection, though. My BlueJay burger was delicious, cooked to order, and the fries were very good as well. The Chicken Wrap was large enough for leftovers and was very tasty. And the tater tots? Better than you ever could've dreamed in the school cafeteria. Crunchy, salty and delicious! Overall, good food, good beer, fun atmosphere, but mixed drinks need some work.

Great restaurant downtown close to the CHI Center & Baseball Stadium! HUGE great place for any crowd & any size! Bar food, fair prices, server was definitely new & learning but very sweet and got everything correct & on time! It was a clean spot, and would recommend to anyone going DT!

Positive experience dining at the Matt- Solid bar and grill in downtown Omaha! True to the name bar and grill with large dining space. Not a dingy dive bar. Clean. Lots of tvs- would be a great place on game day. Prompt service. Menu had a lot of options I was tempted to try. I ordered a draft beer and the French dip sandwich ($16) with fries. Quality sandwich- very tender and flavorful! Both sandwich and fries were served hot and fresh. Slightly pricey for Omaha but would order again.

Great sports bar vibe with much broader menu variety then just plain 'bar food'. Fast service. Nice seating - barstools, large tables and booths. Some patio space. Central to downtown activities. Own parking area. Look forward to returning.

Huge place! Lots of tables and great for family gatherings or parties! Sports bar vibe..with high tops ..beer and casual feel. Awesome menu though! Was there for a Teammates Mentoring gathering with lots of yummy appetizers.

Great food- great atmosphere! There's plenty of seating, bar room, and TVs for watching the game. They have a pretty good selection of food and drinks. It's a great place for a pregame or casual lunch during work.

The Matt was excellent and we would definitely go there again. It's a big place with industrial ceilings and concrete floors so it probably gets loud, but wasn't when we were there. We had breaded cheese curds to start and added in a side order of onion rings just to try them. The cheese curds were probably the best we've ever had--perfectly crisped on the outside with cheese that stretched on the inside. The onion rings were ok, but not special. Bookguy ordered the ten wing appetizer with honey garlic sauce for his main. He thought they were great--meaty, tender, and the sauce was perfect. He was surprised they didn't come with moist towelettes for cleaning fingers. Turns out they do, the server just forgot. He was very attentive, however. I ordered the half size southwest salad with chicken, which is actually a pretty big salad. The mixed greens, black bean and corn salsa, cheddar jack cheese, with house spicy ranch dressing and garnished with tortilla strips was very tasty. I had it with chicken on the side and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. We recommend!

Ordered the mac and cheese and burnt ends and a bowl of chilli. Super good Service was good at the bar Inside is pretty cool with some good TV's.

Truly a gem, which explains why it's so popular amongst the locals. It's located in downtown Omaha,…read moreand attracted lots of visitors on the weekend that my partner and I were in town. Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

Having just got to town and hungry for lunch I walked a few blocks to Block 16. I came because I…read moreread amazing reviews about them and saw they won numerous awards. I also checked out their menu and noticed it was definitely a unique, interesting menu. Upon walking in, there was a line backed up to the door and I waited in it about 15 mins and it didn't move one person, but I used this time to check out the menu and decide what I wanted. After noticing the line not moving and the cashier in heavy discussion with the family that was there placing their order, I felt it might be best to use their online ordering for carryout pickup instead. While doing this, the line moved up once and I suppose that next party had questions too and of course, plenty of time was spent answering those questions. This might seem like good service, but when the line is that long, either have more people there taking orders or use a kiosk for those of us who don't need to ask questions, or remind guests that there are many others in line (probably after the first 5 mins of discussing the menu) and the line needs to move up. After I placed my order, it told me it was accepted and gave me a time range of when to expect my order. I sat down and waited until the end of that range, which was only a few mins, and then went back up to the pick up area to ask about my order. The lady working was very friendly when I explained what I did. She gave me a number and told me she'd bring my order out, she also gave me the drink I pre-ordered. A few mins later, she brought my food out. I looked around to notice that people who were waiting for food prior to me still hadn't gotten their food. I'm not sure if it's always this slow in there or if it was busy because there's a conference in town. Opening the clamshell that my food was in - I noticed a beautiful sandwich and fries. The fries were piping hot and crispy and tasted great. The sandwich looked really nice, but when I went to pick it up, I noticed the entire bottom was soaked in grease and their hot sauce that was on the chicken. So, I fork & knifed this meal. The flavors of all the parts of the sandwich together were nice, just wish I could have picked it up without being a mess. If I ever returned, I'd get something different.

He looked at me and said, "No, it's totally fine. Would you like some veggies on the side?" "Yes, that would be amazing," I said, and walked back to my table... and burst into tears. It wasn't just what he said. It was the kind energy in his eyes. I felt someone who took pride in what he was making, and who genuinely wanted people to be happy. I found myself asking, why am I crying? Because in a world where so many people in power feel disconnected, where corporations can make us feel like numbers, being genuinely cared for in a small café reminded me how much I love humans. Most people have love in their hearts and are trying to share it in their own small ways. As the world cracks, these simple things are more meaningful than ever.

The server Lainey, was friendly, but it seemed to take too long to receive the bottle of wine. The Reuben...wow. The corned beef was so good and tender. The extra texture and flavor are absolutely worth it. My wife is a total Brussels sprouts snob and she was absolutely in love with theirs. The funny part is that I'm usually not much of a Brussels sprouts person, but I kept asking for more off her plate. That alone should tell you how good they were. The fries were okay. Nothing that stole the show, but nothing to complain about either. The service wasn't the best during our visit, but they also had a 30-person table they were dealing with, so it was completely understandable.
