If you need a food hug, this is the home of some great comfort food! A good place to stop when there's no major game events at the CHI arena next-door, otherwise be prepared for a bit of a crowd. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A large venue with plenty of outdoor parking offers an oversized dining room, party room for those needing a place to gather, and a long bar where you can lovingly gaze upon a line of beer taps with plenty of local selections.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Formally the old mattress factory, it is now just the Matt. Still offering plenty of bar food appetizers in generous portions, burgers and sandwiches galore, with a nice selection of side options to mix things up a bit. For those with plenty of willpower there are healthy salad options too! We enjoyed wonderful service with plenty of attention and never lacked for food or beverage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even after being open for a number of years, the restaurant is well maintained and clean yet still maintains that old world charm[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check out the Matt bar and grill when you're in the downtown area and looking for a menu that will please everybody. The size of this venue allows for an accommodation of larger groups very easily.

The Matt (Old Mattress Factory) is a nice spot downtown to catch a game or hang out during the events down there like the CWS, etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is basically an upscale-ish sports bar style. They have exposed brick and wood, but also neon lights and bar signs. It's an eclectic mix, but I'd say it's more on the casual side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We have been during the aforementioned huge events downtown, and it can get VERY busy. During those times, we've just basically grabbed a drink or two and left.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, we went recently during a normal time of year with no big events happening in the area, and it was pretty dead (I think we were also there at a weird time, so no shade there, just that it was not busy like usual.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was good, and we had a server who was definitely a pro in the restaurant scene. He checked on us just enough to make sure we were happy, but not enough to be an interruption. The food is pretty tasty for bar fare. We started with the pretzel bites that come with beer cheese dip. They are served warm and buttery, as is the cheese dip (warm, not buttery). Eat them peretty fast before they get cold because they become little rocks if they get cold. Entree-wise, we shared the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese and Grilled Salmon. The BBQ Pulled Pork Mac was very flavorful and creamy. It's a huge serving so we definitely had leftovers for later with this one. The salmon came atop a bed of rice and green beans, with a sweet mango topping. It was a lot lighter than the BBQ Mac and Cheese, so it was nice to have the two entrees to share, having a little lighter option than the heavier/creamy/meaty option. We also wanted to try a dessert, so we opted for the chocolate brownie (which wasn't on the menu that we saw, but our server recommended it). It was served piping hot and came with vanilla ice cream on the side, along with a few little dollops of whipped cream. Very filling and sweet, and perfect for sharing. I don't know if anyone could eat it all by themselves. This is definitely not fine dining or anything, but for bar food, it's pretty good. One thing I will note, though, is that it is definitely not inexpensive (but what downtown is?) [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd say this is a nice laid back spot to check out in the downtown area, especially if you go when it's not busy during an event![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had a great experience grabbing dinner at the Matt, and I will likely be back again! The food was delicious; my friend and I both ordered the Maverick burger, which was tender, juicy and very impressive. The fries were a solid side, not anything super impressive but still good. We also got wings as an appetizer and they were delicious and flavorful! Our frozen margaritas were a little strong, but good regardless. The food came out quickly and our server was amazing! She was very sweet and attentive, and truly made our dinner even better. I will note that the parking was very confusing and not well marked here, so both of us had trouble finding the entrance at first.

The food, atmosphere, and service were ON POINT! So glad we tried the Matt!! We will definitely be back!

Was hanging out with someone that lived in Omaha and they suggested this place and it was very close to my hotel. Wanted to watch a Baylor basketball game and they had it showing here. Got a beer, some wings and cheese curds. Pleased with the quality of the wings+ curds. Even got a cup that was served water in to keep as a souvenir.

I stopped into The Matt, on purpose, for a late lunch after arriving in Omaha. I was seated immediately, and my server came quickly. His name was Bret and he is a great server. He was pleasant and efficient. I asked for recommendations about appetizers and got some good advice. I ended up having the cheese curds with ranch dressing and I think the drink I had was the huckleberry lemonade which is alcoholic and it was delicious. After enjoying some hot cheese curds, I ordered the Reuben with tater tots, again after discussing options with Bret. He checked on me while I ate and watched some NCAA basketball and it was an overall very pleasant experience. The food was delicious; that Reuben corned beef meat was tender and it had the perfect amount of sauerkraut and 1000 island and I could have licked that plate clean! I got a picture of the cheese curds but was so excited about that Reuben I forgot to take a picture lol!!

I haven't been back to The Mattress Factory in a while since no longer working downtown, so it was nice to revisit. Early dinner hour on a Saturday (4:30-ish) we watched it fill up rather quickly as 5pm came and went. I initially thought my margarita was a great/generous size, but when it doesn't taste very good, that's not really a benefit. It was almost a little soapy (in which case I would've sent it back), but when my cohort tasted it, she said, "No, it's just not very good." She was very pleased with her beer selection, though. My BlueJay burger was delicious, cooked to order, and the fries were very good as well. The Chicken Wrap was large enough for leftovers and was very tasty. And the tater tots? Better than you ever could've dreamed in the school cafeteria. Crunchy, salty and delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, good food, good beer, fun atmosphere, but mixed drinks need some work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]HUGE great place for any crowd & any size![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bar food, fair prices, server was definitely new & learning but very sweet and got everything correct & on time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a clean spot,[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and would recommend to anyone going DT!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Positive experience dining at the Matt- Solid bar and grill in downtown Omaha![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]True to the name bar and grill with large dining space. Not a dingy dive bar. Clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of tvs- would be a great place on game day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prompt service. Menu had a lot of options I was tempted to try. I ordered a draft beer and the French dip sandwich ($16) with fries. Quality sandwich- very tender and flavorful! Both sandwich and fries were served hot and fresh. Slightly pricey for Omaha but would order again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great sports bar vibe with much broader menu variety then just plain 'bar food'.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fast service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice seating - barstools, large tables and booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some patio space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Central to downtown activities. Own parking area. Look forward to returning.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Huge place! Lots of tables and great for family gatherings or parties![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sports bar vibe..with high tops ..beer and casual feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Awesome menu though! Was there for a Teammates Mentoring gathering with lots of yummy appetizers.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food- great atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating, bar room, and TVs for watching the game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a pretty good selection of food and drinks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great place for a pregame or casual lunch during work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

You have to try the steal bites! Tender, garlic and the texture is like they're coered with corn starch before they're pan fried.

I don't want to sound like an over entitled west coast food snob, but I'm afraid if I typed that it's already too late- but, I've been to the Bagel Bin, I've been to Brueger's (sp?) and I've tried a lot of bagels around Omaha and nothing was quite what I could find at home or in other metro areas, then my daughter introduced me to Know Good and I'm hooked. So delicious. The bagels are bagel-y not bready, the coffee is craft, the dining area is clean and simple, I can see the kitchen which is spotless- this is not just a good bagel shop for Omaha, this is a bagel shop that rivals just about anything I've been to anywhere. (Slight caveat, the lox is not comparable to the lox in NYC, but I don't think that really exists anywhere. Yes, I know, more coastal elite pretentiousness on my part, I'm sorry.) Staff were professional, not overly chatty, but that's not what we were looking for- they knew the menu, had suggestions, were pleasant. Seriously, the last time I was in town I stayed for a week and I came here three times, that's about the highest praise I can give.

Served with a side of fries and a pickle spear. I love pickles but this pickle tasted odd, closer to a butter pickle than a dill. The fries were delicious, I believe they are twice fried making a wonderful crunchy exterior and fluffy interior. The Rachel was fine. The rye bread tasted a bit stale, and the turkey was centered in the sandwich to make the cut cross section look loaded but then making 1/3 on each half just bread. Minimal sauerkraut and very little thousand island made it pretty dry. Based on the food would have rated my experience lower but I've had The Rachel before and it was amazing so this must have been an off day. Restaurant is decorated in a beautiful color palette. The mustard plush benches are pretty but not plush, I learned the hard way as I plopped down. It was surprisingly muggy inside the restaurant for a 70 degree day. The service was adequate and the restaurant and hotel were stunning as always.

My wife and I both ordered the Everett's #2 with pulled chicken, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce. Everything just worked together perfectly. The chicken was tender, the slaw added the right crunch, and the bun tied it all together. It was one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you just look at each other and know you made the right choice. We also ordered the Saucy Rossy wings and they were the perfect heat level for both of us. Not so mild that they're boring and not so hot that you're suffering. Pro tip: get them fried and grilled. The extra texture and flavor are absolutely worth it. My wife is a total Brussels sprouts snob and she was absolutely in love with theirs. The funny part is that I'm usually not much of a Brussels sprouts person, but I kept asking for more off her plate. That alone should tell you how good they were. The fries were okay. Nothing that stole the show, but nothing to complain about either. The service wasn't the best during our visit, but they also had a 30-person table they were dealing with, so it was completely understandable. Even with that, the food was so good that it's already a top 3 meal for my wife. We'll definitely be thinking about those sandwiches, wings, and Brussels sprouts until we're back, and I don't think that'll take very long.
