We stayed here from 11/11/25-11/13/25. We had booked out the mansion for the first day, leaving 2 rooms open the second day. We had a wonderful time. This place is truly magical. We saw many deer, a fox, and all kinds of birds. The staff here are very accommodating, we especially liked Pierre. His charming French accent was really enchanting. This place is full of really unique antiques, lots of snacks, beers, wines, hard alcohol, tons of nonalcoholic options too! The afternoon they place a very nice charcuterie, the morning they place coffee just outside the grand suite, with OJ, champagne, decaf coffee and hot water and warm, freshly baked muffins. I'm looking forward to coming back here again. Hopefully for our anniversary or my bday. It's apparently very difficult to book for July 4. The views of the island here is phenomenal.

Mt Ada is an incredibly special place for us. The hospitality is always top-notch - Pierre, Eva, Maria, and the others are so kind and welcoming. The bedrooms and common spaces are really beautifully maintained, and the rooms are quite comfortable. It feels like stepping back in time, in all the best ways. We adore being able to sip coffee in the morning gazing out over the harbor or the ocean, from any number of beautiful sitting areas or from our room. The breakfasts and lunches are absolute perfection - and truly, you cannot beat the views. Mingling with the other guests during the happy hour is another bonus. Of course, having access to the other amenities (mini golf, access to a golf cart, the museum) is always so nice as well. A stay at Mt Ada is truly unbeatable - well worth the cost.

Yes this is a storied and historical venue. Yes, the views are great. Yes it's very photogenic. Yes, for the prix fixe lunch, its' bottomless prosecco or wine. These are the reasons I award two stars. The food was absolutely the worst we ate during our 4 day visit to the island!!! That was the conclusion of the of the four diners at our table. Chris, our server was attentive and most apologetic for the poor quality and experience. He discounted our price 25%, in effect removing the charge for my meal. My three companions were served their meals, and something happened to mine and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes. My friends were underwhelmed by their swordfish, but were hungry and ate their dish. The sole diner who ordered a hamburger seemed pleased with his dish. Finally my swordfish arrived, but it was ice cold, undercooked, and raw inside. I sent it back. When it next arrived, it was hot.... good thing. BUT, IT WAS FLAVORLESS. The creole sauce served was like canned tomato sauce with two small pieces of zucchini. Absolutely no flavoring, and this is marketed as creole sauce???? Dessert offerings were acceptable, but we all thought they came from a commercial baker such as Vons. All this for $62 pp. I'll pass. Fyi, I later found out the chef working was his first day. So much for training and supervision!!!!

Not like any other historic hotel I've ever stayed...and I've stayed at more than 12 historic hotels. Mt. Ada is the most peaceful and tranquil vacation spot to recharge and enjoy. Sitting high above Avalon bay the view is majestic and the beauty and comfort of the home and staff make you feel at home from the moment you approach the door. Though the house built in 1922 is lovingly maintained. The friendly staff of Lauren, Pierre, Parker and Chammy are at the ready to answer any questions, requests and advise on restaurants and tours. They are always at the ready to fulfill any requests. The stay at the Wm. Wrigley home includes delicious meals of breakfast and lunch. A two hour wine and cheese event, access to a well stocked butler's pantry and your own golf cart to use during your stay. The lovely ocean view guest rooms are on the second floor. Each morning at 6:30 coffee, tea, mimosa makings and muffins are set up for early risers. Guests are encouraged to don a robe and slippers to grab a cup of their liking to enjoy before heading down to breakfast. Mt. Ada is a gem and the staff make you feel like this is your home.

    Mt Ada (Former Wrigley Mansion)

We spent 3 glorious nights at Mt Ada for our 25th anniversary and were treated like royalty. Mt Ada is the former Wrigley mansion built before WWII in 1932 and it is like walking through a time warp when you stay here. It has been painstakingly cared for and kept as close as possible to the way it looked in 1932. Perched atop one of the highest hills surrounding the harbor, the views to the west, north, and east towards the mainland our absolutely breathtaking. There is no other place you can stay in Avalon with views like this. Even our room, Morning Glory, had a private balcony where we watched spectacular sunrises enjoying expresso and coffee. The room itself was phenomenal and like the rest of the place, steeped in the decor from a time long past. The main floor houses numerous sofas and chairs and also boasts a spectacular library including numerous volumes related to the history of the island. There are 270 degree views from this room as well as the surrounding balconies where there are tables and chairs set about. We enjoyed all of our breakfasts and lunches on the balcony areas as well as numerous glasses/bottles of champagne and wine. The food choices are wonderful and very very good. We were shocked at just how well the food was prepared. You won't go hungry staying at Mt Ada. You won't have to worry about transportation when staying at Mt Ada. You will be picked up at the dock or helipad and taken to the inn. Once there, you are provided you own personal golf cart for the entire stay. In fact, they just purchased all new luxury carts with enclosures and amenities I have not seen on a cart before. Having wheels in Avalon to get around is absolutely a major perk of staying at Mt Ada. Least but definitely not last is the level of service provided by the staff. The staff at Mt Ada exudes kindness, care, and professionalism unmatched anywhere we have ever stayed. The person leading the team is Sean and he is THE MAN for making your stay special. In addition to being a historian who knows everything about the history of Catalina, he is the go to person for nearly any request you have. Mt Ada works because of Sean and the rest of the staff. It wouldn't be the same without these folks making sure you have the best experience possible. THANK YOU SEAN, CHEF MANNY, AND YOUR ENTIRE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF! So, the question comes down to why wouldn't you stay here? I am sure the nightly rates at first glance can give someone sticker shock but let's review what you get: 1. An experience and level of service you will get nowhere else on the island. Period. 2. ALL meals, wine, beer, happy hour, and various other snacks and beverages included. And best of all, you can enjoy them in the privacy of your own room or pretty much anywhere you like inside or out with incredible views. 3. Your own private golf cart. Rental carts go for $100 or so dollars for just 2 hours! You can roam the streets in and around Avalon at will 24/7 in your own sweet ride. What are you waiting for? Grab your partner and go get pampered like we did and you will have memories for a lifetime!

Really a great dining experience. We came for lunch on a very clear day and had the most amazing view. Our waiter was really nice and the food was good. I had the branzino and my wife had the steak. Both dishes were really good, and the appetizers were great as well. The caesar salad was nice and refreshing, and the crab cakes were full of crab, not overly doughy. For dessert we had the pineapple upside down cake and the lemon merengue pie, both hit the spot and were a great end to the meal. I highly recommend trying it at least once if you're visiting Catalina Island.

We've been going to Catalina for about 15 years. How have we never stayed here before?! Best kept secret on top of the hill! The views are spectacular. The mansion is beautiful with sweeping views at every step! Wrap around porch is perfect for sipping wine noshing in the afternoon on cheese/charcuterie plate, breakfasting or lunching! Did I mention that all of these things are INCLUDED?! Let's run down the perks for the price! At the onset, it seems pricier than other spots on Catalina. But, check out all the inclusive items!! You're picked up at the boat or helicopter by a Mt. Ada van with your name on a sign. Ok, I already feel fancy! Next they show you your upscale, fully sanitized golf cart for your personal use the duration of the trip! While checking in you're offered complimentary champagne or beer or wine or soft drinks or tea or latte! You get it?!! Oh and all of those drinks are offered for free the entire stay 24/7! They also serve you a lovely, made-to-order breakfast and lunch. With a real menu, choices, including dessert. Then, after 4:00, Happy Hour begins with a posh little platter of yummies and, oh sure, why not?! More beverages of your choice. If you're still hungry, there's a pantry full of snacks like cookies, gelato, and chips! Do you want to take an excursion?! No worries your round-the-clock concierge will handle all the details and wherever you go, you get that Mt. Ada deluxe treatment! So my 6 rooms in total, do not worries with social distancing! Each room is perfect and unique. We stayed in the Windsor room; which boasts full window views to both sides, island/harbor and ocean views! Robes, slippers, the full on royal treatment! I'd be remiss not to mention stellar individuals that made our stay extra perfect! Pierre adds a charming French flair to your stay with impeccable manners and an accent to die for! Violet is a gem and we felt like besties by the end! We loved sweet Elizabeth, and Mariano went out of his way to help us feel special! There you have it! Now book it and see for yourself! Do the Math and see that all the perks add up to an all-inclusive stay! If you're finicky, this place does not have air conditioning except for one room. It also has the full charm of an almost 100 year old home! Live a little! Enjoy a lot!

Mt Ada is a bed and breakfast inn on the top of Catalina island, it was William Wrigley Jr.'s house back in the days when he bought this island, built this house and named after his wife, there are only a few suites in this inn so book early if you want to stay here. We toured the house when we got here, it's an old and vintage but very well maintained house on the mountain that we were definitely very impressed. We had lunch at the outdoor dining terrace with amazing views of the entire Catalina island. Menu was three course set menu, decent selections of soft drinks, beer and wine were included, they said there would be more food and drinks if we stayed at this inn. Menu wasn't big but the items were fantastic, we all had blue crab salad as starters, roasted chicken, Branzino and sausage pasta as entrees, also sticky toffee pudding as dessert. The food was absolutely amazingly delicious and flavorful, we had glasses of champagne, mimosa and Cabernet that were great with our food. I have to say it was one of the best lunch with beautiful views we have ever had in a very long time! We had a slow and very enjoyable meal, the service was top notch too, our server was so patient and attentive that we had no complaints! What made our lunch more enjoyable was the house cat Big Foot, she was hanging out with us the entire time, what a cute and affectionate kitty cat! We actually stayed at their sister hotel Pavilion hotel this time, and we loved it. So we have decided to give this lovely historical bed and breakfast inn a try next time, although it's a bit far from the city but it would be a very different and pleasant experience for sure, we will try to make it happen soon!

A five star breakfast where you can take in the same spectacular view that prompted Ada Wrigley to say "I should like to live here."

From the time you arrive -- and are treated to a mini tour on the road to Mt. Ada -- you feel as though you've been transported, quite literally, to a magical place in a glorious, beautifully appointed, elevated space. Once you cross the threshold into the Wrigley home you are a guest of the highest order, treated like the presidents and royalty who visited once upon a Time. You will live your own fairytale during your stay. We certainly did.

Coffee bar just right outside the room. Not even downstairs at the main breakfast. Another nice touch.

Just checked out this morning. Much thanks to our concierge, Pierre and to the manager on site, Eva. When you book a high-end place, the bar is pretty high coming in, but they exceeded it at every turn. I stayed in Garden Porch room which was had ocean views in bedroom and restroom. Oh, and the breakfast and lunch included is 5 star on choices and quality. Other neat things included our fancy valet from shuttle to hotel, them storing our luggage at the ferry, ride back to the ferry. I did my engagement here as well and they worked with me on every request I had. I'll be back!

My view at 5am looking from the bedroom widow.

From the moment we arrived at the Ferry terminal and greeted by Pierre, we were treated like royalty. Kacee met us at the door as if she was welcoming us home. It was an amazing stay and best yet we didn't feel uncomfortable and hovered over. We were given our privacy and free run of this incredible home. The complimentary Golf Cart was a huge plus. Yes, this place isn't cheap but...hot breakfast and lunch is served daily and the food was incredible! The butler pantry is at your disposal at any time offering beer, wine, ice cream, beverages, etc. FANTASTIC!! The house staff were fabulous!! Everyone one pitches in and helps out keeping this place a true GEM!! We stayed in the Garden Porch the smallest of all 6 rooms but oh so quaint, comfortable, and charming. Windows on all sides that we left opened while we slept. Can't wait to come back!! Thank you everyone!!

This review is for brunch at Mt. Ada. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary in Catalina and wanted to find a nice place for brunch. After some research we stumbled upon Mt. Ada. Reservations were fairly quick and easy to make online. Mt. Ada is located on the top of the trails we rented a golf cart for our day and drove our way up. The scenery was beautiful and once you arrive at the gate there is a buzzer. Once we let them know the name of our reservations the gate opened and we drove our way up to the Wrigley Mansion. Service was great throughout our meal. Brunch was a prix fixe of 3 courses- an appetizer, entree and dessert. As well as unlimited drinks of your choice from the brunch drink menu. For appetizers we had the vegetable soup and the dungeness crab cake. The C.A.B Hanger Steak and Grilled Whole Branzino for our entrees. Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding and Sorbet Trio Sundae for dessert. Food at Mt. Ada was okay our dungeness crab cake arrived cold. Our entrees were delicious but the desserts were sub par. For such a fine establishment I feel like they can put in more effort in designing their menu. Mt.Ada is a must visit for any one who visits Catalina it is a beautiful landmark and the views are outstanding. Food was okay but the service makes up for it.

Beautiful stay.... Best location, wonderful views! Attentive and caring staff, they all made us feel special and well taken care of. Thank you Lauren, Cammy, Pierre, and Parker!!!! We stayed in the Bethany Glen room. Big size room with patio over looking the town, bay and deep Pacific Ocean. The included breakfast and lunch were delicious. Totally appreciated and enjoyed the wine and cocktail hour. Great to have a golf cart during our stay - definitely need based on location of the hotel. Although with the hotel offering so much, you almost don't want to leave. We will definitely be back!

Evening cheese and wine to unwind!

Last year, Vista and Snug were under the same ownership, which is no longer the case. Snug now has closer affiliation with Hotel Aurora a bit up the hill. Snug is a cozy and charming 6-room inn. There is staff on duty during the day; welcome in-room wine and snacks are provided as well as daily continental breakfast. There is no staff on the premises at night, although someone is on-call. My stay was lovely and somewhat surreal. I visited during the February rains which caused the cancellation of all Catalina Express boats on 2 days during my Avalon visit. This forced guests here for the long Valentines/Presidents Day weekend to leave early or relocate. I ended up being the sole guest for my 2-night visit! And with minimal visitors on the island, evenings were also pretty quiet, despite being right above the main drag (Crescent). Snug does provide earplugs and eye masks if needed. I moved up my arrival date due to the weather and Snug was able to accommodate me, even offering the same room, which was the Santa Catalina room, the inn's "crown jewel" situated on the corner with two large bay windows, one facing Avalon Bay with Casino, Bay and pier views, the other with a built-in window seat facing Sumner and the hills above. All rooms have a fireplace and deep soaking jetted tub. The rooms are not particularly large but are full of charm, coziness and warmth. No robes or slippers, but there were 2 clock/music/alarm machines. Complimentary reusable water bottles are provided; there's a water/ice machine in the hall. The welcome snacks offered were olives, pretzels and high-end nuts (i.e., no peanuts). The continental breakfast was quite ample and includes a small loaf of warm banana bread, yogurt, fresh berries, granola, milk, juice and coffee or tea. You fill out an order slip as to what you want exactly and what time you want it delivered. There are 6 delivery times for the 6 rooms, which of course was not an issue for my stay. There is a common room with a sofa, fireplace and machine for coffee and tea. There is a closet for luggage storage, a public restroom and umbrellas. The front door is open 8-5, key access is needed in the off-hours. Shout-outs to the great staff I met--Jackie, Destiny and especially Johnny at the front desk and housekeeper/breakfast preparer Alicia. Overall a fabulous stay. Fortunately we were there during the week, and our room was ready earlier, so we chilled a bit before heading out to explore and have lunch. They also held our bags upon check out. After we returned from an adventure, they allowed us to sit on the patio and enjoy the sun before we had to be at our boat. We couldn't have asked for a better stay, and we will absolutely go back. Just a note for anyone who has mobility issues. The hotel is awesome, but note that you have to walk part way up a little hill to reach the stairs to the small lobby. There are stairs to the lobby and depending on which floor your room is located, there is no elevator, just stairs. For someone in a wheelchair or needing a walker and unable to climb stairs, it is not doable.

They have packages that include the ferry back and forth so I recommend checking out their website. Continental breakfast is the basics but very good. We really loved staying at the Atwater. The lobby is…read moreabsolutely stunning, great space if you have to meet your group, because there's plenty of places to sit. They offer water, both regular and cucumber. They also have a great luggage holding service so if you needs to check out before your boat leaves, you can have them hold your bags or if you arrive before check in. The rooms are very nice and feel very clean! The bed was big and comfortable, what I didn't like was have no chair in the room, I like to be able to sit not on my bed, but the bed, king size, was so big, there's no room for a chair. The sink is also separate from the toilet and shower, which has benefits, like I can get ready while my husband showers, but it made the bathroom feel very empty, also there were no counters in the bathroom area, so you couldn't set down tampons or your phone or clothes anywhere in the room except on the closed toilet lid, which isn't my favorite thing to do. May finding a small side table or something to put here would be really helpful. In general it is beautiful and very comfortable. I will definitely be back!

The rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated As a couple we travel a lot domestically and internationally. The staff at this hotel are probably the most efficient and gracious I have come across in all our travels. We had a problem with our booking and they bent over backwards to solve the issue. The problem had nothing to do with them it was an error on our end. Oliver D and Lily could not have been more helpful and efficient in assisting us. The room was extremely nice. The only suggestion I would make is in regard to the small window that is by the door connecting to the other room. The window is right by a street light. There needs to be a black out blind on that as the light shines through the shut blind The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower had wonderfully hot water with great pressure. The hair dryer was fabulous as it had power and dried the hair quickly. Often hairdryers in hotels are so lacking in power I often wonder if it is worth the effort. This one was brillant All in all a wonderful place to stay

We wanted the same experience and the same room. We got a Studio Suite room in the back of the hotel in the upper private area. The last time we stayed here, our room seemed bigger, and I was a bit disappointed about how small the room seemed compared to last time, but we ended up really enjoying our stay. The room was clean, although housekeeping did not clean our room the first time we asked the front desk. Before our third and final night, we went up to the front desk and told them we were extremely upset our room was not clean the day before when we had asked them to clean it so they promptly came up and cleaned our room. The linens were clean, white, and fresh and the robe was nice though short. The towels were comfy and clean and they gave us more towels when our room wasn't clean the second night we stayed after we asked them. The outside the patio was amazing. We had a gorgeous view of the city behind us and the ocean in front of us. We loved to sit outside in the comfy chairs and just soak up the view and drink coffee/tea that was provided for us with a Kuerig machine. We had plenty of free water bottles and ice and kept asking for more and more because we drink like fish and they gave it to us all for free. The room had a couch and a little table, but the table was too short for my husband to use his laptop. He said he would have liked a bigger table, but we made do with what we had. Also, there were no nightstands in the room and the closet space was very, very small, just a small wooden box in the room with only enough space to hang our jackets. There were no real drawers to place our clothes in so we left them in the luggage the entire time. The bathroom was made of beautiful Italian marble with a large bathtub that we filled to the top with warm water for our nightly bath soaks. The only thing we didn't like about the bathroom was that the toilet was right next to the wall, giving us little room to sit and do our business and the sink had no area around it to place our bathroom essentials except for a really, really small glass area above the sink to place our toothbrushes. We took really long naps while we were there with the air conditioner on full blast and really loved our bed. It was sooooo comfortable. Also, our room had a refrigerator where we placed food we bought from the market and left over food from the restaurant. We are definitely coming back again to the Bellanca hotel for a simlar Studio Suite room, hopefully next time, a bigger one light last time, but even though there were things we didn't like about this room, we may request the same room again because the view outside looking towards the ocean was amazing. Oh, and the hotel gave us two free drink vouchers worth $15 each for mixed drinks at the Naughty Fox which we used and enjoyed.
