The weather was perfect at eighty eight degrees, so we sat outdoors. They also sell pizza and have a ton of drink options. The cashier was friendly and shared that they have new flavors. Unfortunately, our experience here was disappointing from start to finish. We purchased two pizza slices and, after waiting about 30 minutes with no food, went to ask about our order. We were told it would only be a 10-15 minute wait, so the delay was frustrating. When fresh pizzas became available, the front staff attempted to help customers behind us before addressing the order we'd already been waiting on. Customer service was particularly disappointing. We were barely acknowledged when approaching the counter, and the employee helping us seemed annoyed that we were asking about our food. When I finally received my pizza and said "thank you," the response was a blunt "yup" delivered with an attitude. The atmosphere also felt unwelcoming. Staff spent a noticeable amount of time discussing being "good married Christian couples" with other guests, which made the environment feel less inclusive than it should be. As for the food, the pizza was extremely salty. Drink prices were also hard to justify--$6 for a fountain drink plus an additional $2 for refills is excessive. There was also no Wi-Fi available. Yep. But the cookies? Yes, they are HUGE but we were underwhelmed. We got the white chocolate Macadamia and the Reese's pieces cookies. The prices are definitely a bit higher because of being on Mt Lemmon and while the cookies are good, they aren't something I would take a trip up the mountain to experience. The employees were very efficient and kind when I had to bring my brother-in-law who uses a walker up the ramp to use the restroom. The pizza was always good and they must have a new recipe as the pizza tasted even better possibly with more garlic and the crust was delicious. Unfortunately, I set my expectations a little too high for this place. Everything about it was ok. We drove an hour to get here after a long hike in Saguaro National Park, and we were starving. The parking lot is super duper tiny, so we had to park down a ways on the side of the road. The inside of the cabin is cute, but small with a little fire place in the middle and maybe 4 or 5 tables with 2 chairs at each. There was one bathroom too. Luckily the line to order wasn't as long as it looked like it could have been, but we still waited 5-10min. to place our order. Then it took another 15-20 for our pizza to come out. We also ordered the cookie sampler which had to be made fresh and took 30min. (Which they did tell us about and we decided to wait). The pizza was ok. After a long, hot and then cold pedal up Mt. Lemmon, I needed some calories! Thankfully the Cookie Cabin was open and warm so I popped in. I had a slice of pepperoni pizza which was ok, bit of soggy crust but the taste wasn't bad. Of course I had to try the cookies, so I got oatmeal raisin. It was not a traditional oatmeal raisin cookie, with a smoother, crispier texture but the flavor was spot on. Coulda used more raisins, but it sure hit the spot after a 3 hour climb. We always stop here when we visit Mount Lemmon because they have the best cookies! They're warm, crunchy edges, with soft middles. Topped with ice cream, it's the best dessert on Mount Lemmon! Love the idea of the cookie cabin. They serve giant cookies that can be easily shared with 3-4 people or maybe more depending on your hunger and sugar craving levels. The cabin operates like a fast food joint. Order at the counter, cookies are basically ready to go, so already baked and maybe reheated? We ordered a chocolate chip cookie and also ordered a 16inch pizza instead of slices because that's really the best way to get a "fresh" pizza. $35.00 for a whole pizza is steep in my opinion. There's no specialty ingredients, just your average cheese and pepperoni. The cookie wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated! I'm not a fan of their ordering system, I asked if I could pay ahead for my cookie with ice cream and then order it after we finished our pizza and they said no. So basically, our cookie got cold and our ice cream melted while we ate our pizza. Seems unreasonable to me, but they do have a lot of people come through so maybe they just want to keep things moving along. Since it's order at the counter and patrons buss their own tables, I noticed tables were very dirty. The least they can do is either have staff wiping tables down regularly or leave a spray bottle and towels on the counter for patrons to wipe their tables. The lemon of Mount Lemmon The allure of a nice warm cookie on a snowy day seemed natural on a trip to the snow with our toddler. Everything about our experience at the Cookie Cabin was unpleasant. One would expect that a bakery opens at 11am because the food is being prepared. Not only were the cookies not ready - we had to wait for 30 minutes for one of them. Thank goodness there is a decent patio with tables and seating. The staff was unfriendly - as if we were an inconvenience to them. We passed it on our way to the trail we were hiking and decided to stop for a cookie on our way back on Sunday afternoon. The line was super long, but it moved quickly. It just depended on the other customers ordering and if they knew what they wanted. My husband and I split the giant chocolate chip cookie - gotta go with the classic! It was delicious!! And HUGE! Literally bigger than the plate. And it's a regular plate, not a small one. They definitely justify the $8 price tag. We could've probably split it more ways too.
