Food was mediocre; we got the bone marrow (slightly too oily but very flavorful), the polenta (not a fan), chicken wings (the sauce was delightful but the wings were burnt), the Brussel sprouts (great) and the artichokes (enjoyed the aioli). Gorgeous and delicious!! We came on a Wednesday night and it was happening, but definitely not too crowded, nor did we have to wait. They have a no split check policy which usually I wouldn't mind because Venmo, but I was on a business trip which allowed me to expense an amount, and technically our tables were two separate tables pushed together so our waitress was able to give me a separate check so I totally appreciate the service there! We ordered the chicken liver pate, no cheese mac and cheese, arugula and quinoa salad, and I had the strawberry ginger lemonade. It was too dark for pictures but everything came out beautiful too!! The star of the evening was the chicken liver pate. My friend had come back for more and it lived up to its expectations, there were four pieces and three of us and I had no shame eating the fourth piece! I loved the salad because of the goat cheese and the perfect salad to quinoa ratio. Sometimes there's too much quinoa, sometimes too much salad, this was a nice mix. At first glance it doesn't look like much, but walk the 32 steps from the front door to the hostess stand and bam! What was once an old car dealership is uniquely transformed into a wonderful restaurant and bar. I was definitely more in love with the ambiance than anything else. The open atmosphere makes it a bit noisy, but the open floor plan allows you a chance to take in the variation of decor. It got a bit noisy for conversation once the DJ started spinnin'. I started my meal with the Burrata Salad which was more veggies than Burrata. My entree was the fried chicken which looked great, but was quite flavorless. The accompanying corn bread was pretty dry so I requested some butter to help choke it down. On the plus side I did enjoy the cole slaw. He ordered the blackened catfish and a Moscow Mule and seemed to enjoy both. The waitress was accommodating in his request for vinegar and onions for his collards. This is either my first or second time going to this fine establishment. First time I was not sober, so I can't give a correct assessment of Mua. Anywho, the time I remember, this place is fantastic. Sort of in an odd area, next to a bunch of car dealerships at the end of Broadway before you hit the hospital. I came here with my cousins for a surprise birthday. They do take reservations but The whole party or at least the majority has to be there before you can get seated. At least on this Tuesday night they were pretty cool about the reservation. The majority of our party didn't arrive until 630ish and we didn't lose our spot. On a Friday? It might be different. The entrance is very narrow. To the right it looks like a private party room, straight, the bar. Past the bar is the hostess stand and the dining area. There is an upstairs that I didn't get to check out. The drinks are solid, that being said I only drank Manhattan's, but it was good. My cousins said the other drinks were tasty. Manhattan's are $12 and shots were around $10. Pretty standard alcohol pricing. Onto the food, all we ordered was sharable appetizers. The chicken wings was ok, solid calimari, Mac & cheese which didn't have cheese was fantastic, beef bone marrow was really good and solid crab cakes but only comes with 2. Food was really good. The girl politely asked us if we could wait while she answered the phone and seconds later the male host approached. We advised him that we had a party of 12 and he immediately looked annoyed. With the snarkiest tone, he told us that there were other reservations that needed to be seated so we would have to just wait. So my friends and I just visited Mua for dinner after seeing the rave reviews and awesome food pictures. The ambiance was awesome and the service was great, but I can't say the same thing about the food. We ordered the beef carpaccio, chicken liver pate, fried polenta with soft shell crab, crab cakes, the burrata, rib eye steak, soft shell crab po'boy, the fried chicken, and the mussels. I would say that's a lot of plates which should've given us a huge variety to say whether the food was good or not. The best dish was the fried polenta and the po'boy. The beef carpaccio was more like an arugula salad with some raw beef slices, the chicken liver pate came as a thin hard alive over some toasted crostini, the crab cakes were over fried and mediocre. I can go on and on..... The worst part was the mussels because the sauce it came with tasted like mussel water and they weren't fresh at all. Nearly nothing and that's the problem - it feels old, visually cluttered and like it needs a really good cleaning. I haven't been here yet. But on the account of having so much difficulty making a large party reservation of 15 people... i probably won't. I've heard great things about this place and really wanted to celebrate here. So i call, wanting to make a reservation. They said i have to email. So i emailed. After emailing, they send you a robotic email how you have to put your CC down and if you Don't cancel 24 hours before or less.. of course there's a penalty per person in your party. So i reply with a yes and call them back. Their business hours are unusual in terms of playing phone tag COUNTLESS times. So originally i emailed about 12 people i believe, when i called and chatted with someone, they said i had to yet again write ANOTHER email and wait for ANOTHER response in order to move forward. So basically i asked to add 3 more people to my list and i needed to start over.. interesting. After receiving that my party could be attended to BUT at a real later time.. i didn't respond. I needed an exact time and place to let me peeps know 2 weeks before and MUA made is very difficult and unaccommodating. Moving forward to the reservation date, I've received countless.. and i mean COUNTLESS calls on their behalf trying to confirm the reservation when I've already said the time just wouldn't do it. A reservation at 9pm? Oh come on. It's unfortunate how this system is and can't be easy. Went to Mua for dinner last night with friends. The places is very eclectic and the music is lively. They staff was warm and welcoming and very friendly. It was busy but we got sat immediately even without reservations. The staff was very attentive. We ordered appetizers and I had to have the bone marrow. The appetizers came out quick and hot. The bone marrow was outstanding. You get 3 pieces with some bread to spread it on. My friends had a salad and they loved it. We all ordered the one pound rib eye with fries. For a place that is not a steakhouse they did a great job with cooking it to temp (medium rare) and the fries (they give a lot) were nice and crispy. The steak was seasoned well. The crositnis were good but I didn't like the tofu cuz they used firm tofu. I'm a silky tofu fan. Drinks were great, nothing unique or anything but great. They have a few signs all over the bar letting you know that you shouldn't have anything visible in the car. Luckily, my car was not broken into. There's outdoor seating so you can enjoy the sun.
