I went to this location for convenience thinking it would be of the same caliber at each location. This one was a disappointment to Mucho Burrito. It makes me sad to think that if this is your first or only Mucho experience because it wouldn't make me want to come back. Service was fine. Food was fine. But I don't like fine. Hooray for Mucho Burrito! I think Mucho Burrito is our best fresh fast food Mexican available in Edmonton. What I appreciate is their variety and options - several kinds of meat - steak, pork, chicken, tilapia (it's actually really good!); several varieties of salsa - hot, medium, mild (tomatilla), and black bean & corn; whole wheat and white tortillas; black or refried beans; grilled veggie medley of peppers and onions; rice; fresh cilantro & jalapenos; and sour cream or burrito sauce included. They also have fresh made guac for 99 cents... They also have kids' meal options - my toddler usually gets the cheese quesadilla, chocolate milk, and a cookie or fresh tortilla chips. All the food tastes FRESH which is probably my biggest requirement for Mexican food! It is on the pricey side for fast food... but the portions are huge and my hubby and I can frequently share the largest size burrito and be stuffed! We really love this place for fast, fresh, and healthy! This particular location has an extremely small and compact parking lot... sharing its spaces with a 3 sided strip mall and grocery store... sometimes, it can be tough to get a spot! The only reason they get 4 stars and not 5... In the world of fast food, chain Mexicanish joints Mucho Burrito is my favourite. I'd been to their restaurants before (although not this location) and the food here is pretty good, they have a good variety of toppings, and probably the closest a chain fast food place will get to Mexican food (which isn't really that close, but it's certainly better than Taco Bell). This location is downtown, and walked here from Grant MacEwan to grab supper before an evening class. I got a regular carne asada, with jalepenos, and that corn relish, and cilantro, and it was pretty good....except a few hours later when I got sick. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I've decided to do a "one strike you're out" rule when I get sick at a restaurant, and I guess my time at mucho burrito is over. Oh well. Next time I'm looking for a quick bite of Mexican food downtown I'll pick the much better option of Tres Carnales instead. read more

TLDR: Rude service, poor quality food, advertised foods unavailable. Showed up at 8:50. Website and google state they are open until 10. They did not have veggie ground available because they "close in 4 minutes". Was told this when the burrito was already 70% made. They only reluctantly gave guacamole as a replacement after my insistence. They put toppings on that I didn't ask for then wouldn't give me toppings I did want without having me pay because there is a limit of 4. After politely explaining that they should have communicated what wasn't available, I was berated for "insulting them". After all of this trouble, the burrito was soggy (insufficiently grilled), cold (because multiple ingredients were being kept off of the warmer), and had, and this is no exaggeration, a half-inch thick section of a red onion in its entirety in the middle. I hope this is the exception at this location, but I don't expect I'll be returning to find out. read more

I went here this evening to have a meal with my family - I asked for more tomatoes on my burrito bowl and they gave me a tiny little scoop more.... I guess they are really looking at their bottom line! They do not give enough food either! We are still starving! Let's just say, we went home and made a pizza because we were still ravenous after our meal. I wish they would realize that they are not giving their customers enough food! We went here when they first opened and the staff was very friendly and welcoming-meal size was decent as well. When we went back today, the same employees were not the same friendly, smiling, welcoming bunch we first experienced when we went there to eat awhile back. And the food portions have surely diminished in size. We definitely won't be coming to this restaurant again, the food portions are small and the staff don't even smile! If you want real, amazing, burritos and guacamole, go to Julio Barrio down on Whyte Ave. - the meals cost more, but the staff is much more friendly and the food portions are spot on! read more

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa. I have to admit this is probably my fault. I should have walked out when I saw the steam table, but I love Mexican food. I'll eat nothing else in Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and, of course, Mexico itself. I'll even settle for good Tex Mex. From the reviews here, I had such high hopes. I've just never found good Mex or Tex Mex in Edmonton. Is it too much to ask for a really decent tacqueria? This is a lonely desert when it comes to good Mexican. I was thrilled to see some positive reviews about this place, so I went to try. I want to be clear that the staff there was great: Polite, smiling, helpful. The cashier even came to me after I'd taken my order (2 tacos, carnitas and carne asada) to a table to correct a mistake with my change. Now even if I knew nothing about Mexican food, just walking into this place should have been a warning. The set up is like Mexican Subway; you walk along a prep table and your taco or burrito is assembled from initially ingredients in a steam table and then items from a refrigerated table. Someone wrote about the "fresh" ingredients. Give your head a shake; food out of a stream table is not fresh by definition. Moreover, it starts with a tortilla that come out of plastic packaging, warmed on a pannini press. Someone also wrote about non-white, ethnic communities having their own places to eat; give your head a shake: No one Mexican would eat here. This is wholly targeted to a "Gringo" clientele. How do I know? The food is way fattier and saltier than it should be. It is NOT hot and spicy as it should be. The tortilla came from a plastic bag and warmed in a pannini press, and no one seems to have a problem with that. The possible fillings are called pollo, carnitas, carne asada, but they aren't that. No one who has actually eaten Mexican food would call the carnitas taco or the carne asada taco I had, either carnitas or carne asada. It's just to give non-Latinos the thrill of using an exotic language ... just like go to a real café in Italy and try that Tall, Grande, Vente Starbucks stuff and see what you get. In a real Mexican restaurant, you often get a basket of tortillas with your meal. A basket, with tortillas, no dips, spreads or fillings, that's because a real fresh tortilla is delicious all by itself. The carne asada has been grilled before being shredded and tastes of char-grilling. The carnitas have an tangy aftertaste from the cilantro and citrus. The chicken is coarsely shredded chicken meat and not little chicken lumps like rabbit pellets. And they are all cooked in chili and haven't been sitting in grease in a steam table since god knows when. There are no mild or medium options for your salsa. Salsa, by definition, is hot. Just a tip. If a restaurant is set up like a subway, there is NOTHING fresh or authentic about it. Whose grandmother cooks for a steam table? read more

I've been looking for something as fantastico as Chipotle in the US (see my previous review). I've heard rumours that the chain would be coming to Canada but...nothing yet. Mucho Burrito comes close! It's the same concept. Choose your filling (chicken, beef, pork, veggie), choose your preparation (burrito, taco, quesedilla, bowl), choose your salsa (and yes, the "hot" is hot) and chow down! The price is reasonable and the staff have always been great. I don't get to go often (as there are not yet any in Calgary) but I try to go whenever I'm up in Edmonton. It's not "authentic" as a Mexican Restaurant, nor do I think it's trying to be. A terrific fresh substitute for Taco Time. They also do catering. And not the typical pre-made fare. We had them come in for a work lunch and it was amazing. They bring each of the ingredients separately and allow the guests to make their own meal. They also provide a demonstration on how to fill and fold your burrito :) read more

It's pretty rare to find decent Mexican food anywhere in Canada because, well there aren't a lot of people who come from Mexico who live there so there isn't a high demand for it, nor anyone who can correct the poor flavors or recipes from experience. Mucho Burrito is a pretty good option when it comes to burritos and the only option in Leduc where this location has established business. Much like Chipotle in the US, Mucho is a pick-your-toppings type of burrito assembly line. I didn't dine in and didn't even go on the run to order them, but will guess you can dine in. They also have that truly Mexican dessert: chocolate chip cookies. Oh, Canada... keeping it authentic. My nephew was sure I needed the mucho size and when it came, I wondered if my sister buckled it into her car as a passenger as there certainly was a lot of this burrito! It was chicken with all sorts of good veggies. It tasted great but I couldn't finish something so big. HALF of it was wrapped up and enjoyed the next day for lunch, and it was just as filling the second time as well as just as tasty. The verdict on the cookies: Meh. If you're in Leduc... which... probably isn't going to be likely, and in need of Mexican food, no need to look any further. Seriously. Being a big fan of Taco Del Mar we went to this place. We both ordered burritos and we were appalled to find they didn't offer refried beans. Instead they had baked beans the kind you'd have beside a hot dog or hobos eating out of a can beside a bon fire. Let me look up refried beans for you on wikipedia. "Refried beans (frijoles refritos) is a dish of cooked and mashed beans and is a traditional staple of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine." I don't know why Mexican places even offer baked beans but the option to choose refried should always be there. We never ended up eating anything from Mucho Burrito so I can't say how good or awful it was. read more

I love Mexican food, and even stuff that is not overly authentic is preferable to a lot of the greasier alternatives when you are in a hurry. This was my first brush with Mucho Burrito, and I would have to put it lower on the scale than similar US chains I have visited like Chipotle and Taco Del Mar (although we now have TDM locally). The flavor was OK, but the biggest problem was that the rice was undercooked. I hate chewing and then having a tooth-jarring sensation when you hit upon a rock solid grain of rice. I found I had to chew gingerly, definitely detracting from the enjoyment. I may return someday, and hopefully the rice will be cooked correctly next time. read more

Mucho Burrito has really grown on me. For a chain, their product is pretty decent value wise. In the area it resides, I would rather pay around 10$ for a filling burrito than go to some of the restaurants and pubs nearby that charge you $17 plus tip for plates that just aren't up to snuff. It's never going to be gourmet here, but its fine and the portions are large. Compared to others in the feux Mexican class it's one of the better establishments. Could it be that other establishments surrounding Mucho have disappointed me so much? Maybe. But I get a good feeling after eating at Mucho's because I am satisfied, saved money and am ready to paint Jasper Avenue red. I guess it comes down to perspective and for me, Mucho has carved out a niche in my Jasper Ave routine! read more

I love this place. The concept is great, the burritos are awesome, the ingredients are fresh, and you get lots of choice. I will say two negatives, one that applies to the chain, one for just this location. My absolute favourite is the ghost pepper (wimpy) burrito, so it makes me mad they have them so infrequently. It's hard to fault them for something I really like, but I will anyways. This location seems to be one of the only ones that doesn't put out the sauces so you can add them while you eat. I resisted trying out this place. It's no Julio's Barrio, that's for sure. But it is very good, in its own right. Fast food is undergoing a revolution. Our limited American vision of eating fries and burgers on the run has been altered by the growing ethnic communities in our neighbourhood; people who also rush but don't want to constantly be trying to burn off an excess 20 pounds, like their fellow North Americans. This is healthy fast food, relatively speaking. If you don't overdo the sour cream, cheese and mayo-garlic sauce, it's not too bad for you! The owners are super-friendly. They've got an efficient business up and running. The food is very fresh, tastes great and the price is right. For $8 you've taken care of lunch or dinner, and you can get on with the rest of the day or night. It's the new Latin Mickey D's. Feast on that, golden arches! read more

Don't come here looking for "authentic" Mexican food. It's fast-food and it's obvious that it's fast-food from the setup. As far as fast-food joints go, and compared to the other options (Taco Bell, Taco Time, even Burrito Libre), this is the best of the options. I had the burrito with chorizo and it was worth the 10 minutes it took to properly cook the chorizo. The "hot" salsa actually had some good heat and while the ingredients (including the chorizo) weren't mind-blowing, the burrito as a whole was satisfying and tasty. If you want good Mexican, check out Mexico Lindo. If you're on the run and are tired of burgers and fries, Mucho Burrito is well worth a try. read more

I went here on a whim as I was in a hurry and wanted something different. Once I had figured out the menu I was good to go. I had the soft shell tacos and I wasn't disappointed. I am usually concerned with the size of the portions as I am in training and I was pleased to see that they weren't over sized and the ingredients were flavorful. What I did find a tad disappointing was that I expected the food to be hotter (temp wise) then what it was. But great value and good food. read more

I love Mexican food and when I found Mucho Burrito, I was elated! One thing that I love about this place is the freshness of the food. For fast food, it is a pretty healthy choice. A while wheat tortilla, chicken, beans (not re fried which are not as health conscious), rice, salsa, and fresh guacamole - not to mention fresh jalapenos and cilantro to top it off, MMMMM! The price is decent considering the amount of food you get in your burrito (or one of the other menu items). I like that they have different sizes of burritos to choose from - the Mucho is HUGE! The catering service offered by Mucho Burrito are great. It's a nice change from finger sandwiches and salads. They can pre-make everything for you or bring a taco and/or burrito bar so everyone can make their own delicious lunch! read more

Did Mucho Burrito replace my love for Taco Time? I walked into Mucho Burrito and waited in line. As soon as I saw cilantro on the menu, I was worried, because I can't stand the stuff. I also didn't notice any tater tots on the menu. I love tater tots as much as Napoleon Dynamite loves tater tots--I just don't put them in my pocket. I ordered the 10" vegetarian burrito. I then moved along the assembly line of people who worked like a well-oiled machine. There was at least five of them, and they each has a specific task, which really helped to speed things up. My burrito was packed with rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, cheese, peppers, and onions. (Luckily, cilantro was optional) I didn't get anything else, because this was already costing me over $6. Even though the 10" was the smallest, it was still pretty big; it was a lot bigger than Taco Time's Super Soft Taco. I took my tin-foiled burrito on my round tin tray and sat down on a stainless-steel chair in front of a stainless-steel table. These guys are really big on metal, I guess. The burrito was pretty good, but it didn't blow me away, and it didn't make me crave for more either. I didn't like that the beans were cold, and I think I could taste some cilantro in the rice or salsa. It did seem relatively healthy though and way more authentic than any other Mexican fast-food restaurant I've been to. Mucho Burrito was okay, but Taco Time is still my #1 love. read more

I recently had Mucho Burrito cater a surprise birthday party for a friend. We have tried their sit-in restaurant and their food quality has always been impressive, even during peak hours with heavy demand. The catering team was awesome. We wanted them to be very discreet and they were just that. Meals arrived exactly on time, the food was warm, and everything was prepared in just moments. The team of 2 even stayed to sing happy birthday. For those of you unfamiliar with the process, they assemble everything so that it is a assemble-your-own burrito. They bring the wraps, load on the veggies, beans, rice, meat, and sauces. This is also a very vegetarian friendly option and there were no complaints. This turned out to be a home runner with guests as it was unique style to catering: everyone loved the customization and input they had in their meals, and the food quality was excellent despite having the prepare for 20 people. The delivery/set-up staff were very personable, and later came to collect the empty buffet trays quietly without interrupting the party. Hats off to the catering team! read more

My friend and boyfriend can't believe that I've never tried out Mucho Burrito, but after explaining to them that I live under a rock they now seem to cut me some slack. Well the other day I decided to try it out. It's a make your own burrito, taco, etc kind of place; well you choose what to put into it and they make it for you. It was an interesting experience. I one of the burritos with chicken in it and it was pretty tasty. This place seems like a "healthier" alternative to other types of fast food like burgers and fries. I do have to say it is a little expensive compared to other types of fast food joints but it's a good change. I came in here today: Thursday downtown at 12:30... Yikes. The place was packed to the door, but we waited in line because we knew it would be awesome. The line up went quickly and soon enough it was my turn to order. I got the medium chicken burrito with no beans, pico de gallo, cheese, lettuce, rice and sour cream. As far as fast food options go, this place is usually at the top of my list. Tasty food, good flavors, and ingredients that weren't shipped frozen from Toronto. I often get a medium burrito with salsa spicy enough to fit my mood, and a kid's quesadilla for my son. Some of the previous reviews are a bit unfair, but c'mon, you're not really coming here for authentic Mexican food. It's fast & cheap, and not nearly as junky as other fast food chains. I ordered a mucho sized burrito with steak as my protein and all the toppings the person asked me. I get the bag and it felt pretty heavy and didn't think anything of it, hey its a mucho burrito. So I get home open the bag and realize it's a sopping mess just wrapped in aluminum foil. This thing was dripping more fluid than someone with multiple bullet wounds. Walking in, I was slightly confused as to how the menu ordering works, but once you realize that you want either of the three sizes: normal, huge, and gigantour!, you're good to go! The Biggist burrito should not be able to be finish in one sitting. A lot of food. But yes really good! The burrito is filled rice which lines and fills you stomach. I love having Cilantro as a choice too! Amazing! Steak, or chicken, whatever your heart desires. They also cater, which I'm sure if the need ever arose I would definately sign them on board. Unfortunately though... There is a bit of a downside. They do not serve beer. Understandable it is not a bar or a sit down restaruant (in the traditional sense), but it is spanish flare. Wow, I can't believe what happened on my visit to this location. After getting to the end of the assembly line that was building my burrito, the server asked if I wanted sour cream. I clearly said no, but I guess she was on autopilot and started squeezing it all over my lunch. Even as she was doing it, I continued to loudly repeat "NO! NO! NO!" until she clued in and stopped. I asked if she could make a new burrito as this one was now soaked in sour cream. She asked, "Are you allergic to it?" I replied, "No, I just really hate the taste." With this, she then used her hand to try to scoop the sour cream off the burrito (along with half the fixin's) and then continued to silently finish wrapping the soiled burrito before passing it to the cashier. YUCK! I did email Mucho Burrito's headquarters about this (it's only fair to let a company know when they are losing a customer due to bad service) but after a couple of weeks, I never heard back - how bad is that, eh? read more

Be aware of food poisoning! I was here earlier this week in the evening to witness the workers pour new meat over top of old meat. 3 times! I addressed this with the worker and she gave me the excuse that there was a line up. Come on - it takes two extra seconds to take the old meat bin out and pour it on top of the new meat bin, and insert the new metal bin. Voila. Plus, they really need to package to go food better. Absolutely everything you order is soggy before you even get it out of the store. Someone should tell them to poke holes in their non-biodegradable stryrofoam containers. RUDE staff with poor training make this an easy place to skip in favour of other eateries in the same complex. I ordered the taco trio and asked for corn and guacamole as my 2 toppings. I was never told there was an extra charge for guacamole. When I explained this to the woman I paid she smiled saying I still needed to pay extra. She couldn't have cared less that staff ripped me off. I told her to better train staff which was, again met with indifference. She never apologized or said she would let staff know. I was so excited that a mexican restaurant was opening up right across the street from my apartment building! I love mexican food, both authentic and tex-mex. Then I ate there. If you're a fan of a tortilla filled with soggy green peppers, maybe you'll enjoy this place. The food is terrible! I went three times (after all, it's right across the street!
