Oh hell yeah! Mucho Mas is as good as it gets. This place would be awesome if it was in Chicago and here it is in the tiny little town of LaPorte. The menu has so many choices you could come here every day and try something different. It's my favorite kind of place b/c there's something for everyone. If you have a vegetarian or vegan in your party they will not hate you if you bring them here. In fact, they'll think you are the coolest. They can make any burrito with tofu. For breakfast, they can make any of the scrambles or egg dishes with cage-free eggs. You gotta ask for em or they use regular eggs. Might be other vegan stuff but I can't remember. This place was like an upscale Taco Bell. The chips and guacamole ($4) were excellent and seemed homemade (even the chips). The salsa could've been chunkier. It reminded me more of picante sauce. I got a Mexi torta ($6) which filled me up and was very good, though the Mexican bread just seemed like fancy white bread. My husband got a taco salad ($5.50) which seemed okay, though it costs $1.50 extra to add meat (only steak or chicken choices, no beef) which I thought was ridiculous. My mom got the Baja burrito special which she said was okay ($6) and my daughter got a kid's taco w/ chips, which I thought was the only bargain for $2. Add in drinks and our meal was $31. Awesome, fresh, tasty....as good as it gets. Usually do carryout, but dine in is fine too although a little cramped.

So when Mucho Mas first opened, I went twice and was not a fan. Just some little nit-picky things that were enough to keep me from going back. Fast forward to last week when I friend wanted to come here for lunch. This meal was about the company and not the meal so I resigned to give Mucho Mas another try. I am so happy I did!!! I ordered the nachos (half order) with chicken and must say I have been wanting more ever since. The chips were great as was the proportion of the different toppings. It all did taste very fresh and service was adequate given how busy the restaurant seems to be at lunch. I guess this proves that every restaurant has a bad day now and then but they sure do make up for it on their good days. read more

Pretty no frills inside. Has the feel of a chipotle or qdoba, but much better food. If I ever come back to LaPorte, I will be eating here again. read more

Another day of great service and exceptional food! The shrimp burrito is so delicious (though I need to remember to ask for light cilantro as I'm not a big fan.). The endless chips and salsa should not be forgotten! They have some of the best chips. I've lived in Laporte a little over two years now, and I continue to be blown away by how great the food is at Mucho Mas. I've spent a lot of visits exploring the menu and revisiting my favorites: nacho platter (huge!), mandarin chicken salad, burrito. DH loves the fish taco. But my favorite seasonal item by far is the black bean soup. (Its back! I had it again last night!) With tortilla chip strips, avocado slices, cheese and sour cream-yum! My 4-year-old cried when they took it off the menu in the spring. Overall, great flavors, great presentation, and great prices! read more

Gotta give these guys 5 stars! Love eating at this place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My husband and I ate breakfast there recently (they serve breakfast wednesday thru sunday). Oh my goodness, was that delicious. I mean, who doesn't love rice, beans, and tortilla chips for breakfast?! I'm so glad I ordered both coffee and orange juice. The juice was fresh squeezed!! I would have given them 5 stars, as their food is AWESOME, the place is clean, decor is tasteful...the guys that work there are great! However, when you walk in lately there's a thick smog in the place, full of grease. They need to work on some ventilation issues because when I get home my husband comments that I smell like I took a bath in fryer oil. BUT - that's the ONLY complaint I have about the place. Well and they aren't open on Sundays! But everyone needs a day off. :) read more

We made the short drive to Laporte to try this resturant, we read the reviews, and I have to say they seem spot on, except I don't see how it rates for almost 5 stars, I save the 5 stars for something that is amazing. I had the famous fish taco's, they were good, but I have had better, seasoning was good, rice and beans were ok, but I was not overly excited by any of it. Salsa bar was ok, just regular salsa, sweet salsa and hot. Was ok, but not that exciting. We did see a few other items come out that looked yummy, a wrap, and some sizzling steak.... If I were in town looking for somewhere to eat, yes I would go back, and try something else. Pros--- staff was very friendly, place looked clean, they were quick to clean tables. Hardly what I'd call Authentic Mexican food. I travel to Mexico about 5 times a year to visit family and know what Mexican food is. This is Tex Mex sorta. I won't be back. Ordered a plate for my wife and I and it was stuffed with broccoli and other vegetables you'd never find in authentic Mexican food. Get here right before 11:30 to avoid the lunch crowd, because it WILL be getting crowded. This is actually now my favorite restaurant in Michigan City. Amazing variety in the menu.
