WOWWWW! So I'm honestly not the person who typically goes for Mexican as a first choice, but truthfully I'll be thinking about these tacos for a while. Basically as soon as we sat down, our tacos were ready. It was incredibly delicious and the service is just as great. We were always asked how the food is, and they have a mini food condiment bar. The salsa is to die for too! Would love to come back here again!

We were in town visiting family and needed a quick takeout order to take back to our rental. I had heard my sister mention this restaurant at times so thought we would try it. Ordering online for pick up was easy until it came time to enter the credit card. Their system wouldn't verify the card without an error message, but same card went through when we switched to PayPal. Order tracking was great and order was available for pick up prior to the estimated time. I ordered the Taco Salad with chicken and my husband ordered the Mucho(?) Burrito with chicken. Both portions were HUGE!!!! I forgot to take a pic of my husband's order but did capture my order. I love taco salads served in the crispy shell and this did not disappoint. It was perfectly fried and not greasy. Chicken chunks were seasoned well and grilled veggies were fresh. I did not care for the addition of zucchini and yellow squash so I picked those off. I probably would have eaten them if they had been sliced much thinner, but they were bigger chunks. The rice, guacamole, lettuce and sour cream were all fresh and tasted great. I could eat only about 1/3 of the salad -it was that BIG! My husband enjoyed his burrito and even though he's a big guy with a healthy appetite, he also could not eat his entire burrito- first time I've ever seen that in our 30+ years of marriage!;) we did order a side of the rice but neither of us tried it because we had so much food with our main dish. I'm deducting one star because although we did receive fresh chips with our order but no salsa, so those didn't get eaten and the use of zucchini and squash in a taco salad-never saw that before.:( we likely would order again, but will probably decide on a main dish to share and double check that we have salsa with the chips if we do takeout.

This place is legit as F. I had never been here and decided to stop in for lunch based on the previous reviews. This place just served me one of the best lunches of my year. Staff was super nice and attentive from the time I walked in. Super clean dining room and bathroom. In fact, the bathroom was so clean I thought I accidentally walked into the women's restroom. I wasn't sure what was good...so I asked the young lady working the counter (Grace) at the counter said "Tacos" Wait...hear me out...it sounds like a total brush off answer but when I got my THREE steak tacos, beans, rice AND chips...I was blown away. These are SoCal tacos...and are magical. They are delicious. Homemade chips, salsa...I've never been excited to eat refried bean but I smashed those like a fat kid eats cake. Three steak tacos, beans, rice, chips and a soda. I was out the door for lunch for $13.50 INCLUDING TIP. I'll be back...and often

If you find yourself in the obscure destination of LaPorte, Indiana you gotta eat at Mucho Mas! They have so many fresh yummy options: gluten free, meatless, vegan choices. I like to get a taco plate: you can choose 1, 2, or 3 tacos with a side of rice and black or pinto beans. The fried tilapia taco is a must for me. The tacos are generously stuffed, two fill me up. I like their little bar of salsa, limes, cilantro and onions, etc. Cute interior; exposed brick and graffiti-esque menu board. Friendly and accommodating service. Good to dine in or carry out.

Food good ish...place, In one word, Undesired...clean restaurant, millennial design in my opinion. Now I'm not gonna rag on it. The food is good and fresh. The restaurant is cold and quiet...staff is quite, they did their job... Guacamole is great!!!!! Portions are WONDERFUL The shredded chicken seems to be made with cinnamon, personally not a fan but it's other wise good. Fresh and unique, lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Including tofu! I frequently work in Michigan City and Mucho Mas was recommended by some of the MC residents. One brief glance at the Yelp reviews and I made the short drive here for lunch. Wow. Just wow. I ordered a wet tofu mucho burrito and it totally blew me away. So beautiful on the plate that I almost didn't want to dig into it. Fresh, unique flavors and it was absolutely HUGE. Enough for two to share or two meals for one person, I took half home in a box for dinner. The chips are fresh, very light and crispy. Not greasy at all so I convinced myself that they are healthy and ate a bunch. Free parking right in front or next door or next door in the free public parking lot. My second visit (and third visit, and fourth visit- why lie?) I tried the Mucho Nachos with tofu. Amazing HUGE nacho platter with most excellent tofu all melted together. Wow. I was literally speechless when I saw this amazingly huge serving of nachos served in a pizza box. Check out the photos I posted because my description does not do justice to the awesomeness of my nachos. And can you believe TOFU in Laporte, Indiana? I am in love.

During a recent business trip, I stopped at Mucho Mas! for dinner. I was pleased with the homemade tortilla chips and three varieties of salsa available. My steak burrito was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. My one criticism of the place is its lack of ambiance. More or less, there are just tables and chairs. No art or color to speak of other than the few colors of chalk used to write the menu on the wall. A few decorations and perhaps a different choice of music (90s grunge and alternative rock during my visit) could take this restaurant to the next level. Here's the bottom line: My food was excellent, and the price was appropriate for a downtown location. I paid around $15 for a burrito, extra chips (because I didn't realize my meal came with them), and a drink.

This place was like an upscale Taco Bell. The chips and guacamole ($4) were excellent and seemed homemade (even the chips). The salsa could've been chunkier. It reminded me more of picante sauce. I got a Mexi torta ($6) which filled me up and was very good, though the Mexican bread just seemed like fancy white bread. My husband got a taco salad ($5.50) which seemed okay, though it costs $1.50 extra to add meat (only steak or chicken choices, no beef) which I thought was ridiculous. My mom got the Baja burrito special which she said was okay ($6) and my daughter got a kid's taco w/ chips, which I thought was the only bargain for $2. Add in drinks and our meal was $31. The food was 4 stars worthy but it was pricey for the portions so I rated it 3 stars. read more

So when Mucho Mas first opened, I went twice and was not a fan. Just some little nit-picky things that were enough to keep me from going back. Fast forward to last week when I friend wanted to come here for lunch. This meal was about the company and not the meal so I resigned to give Mucho Mas another try. I am so happy I did!!! I ordered the nachos (half order) with chicken and must say I have been wanting more ever since. The chips were great as was the proportion of the different toppings. It all did taste very fresh and service was adequate given how busy the restaurant seems to be at lunch. I guess this proves that every restaurant has a bad day now and then but they sure do make up for it on their good days. read more

In town from Indianapolis for work. Chose this place based on Yelp reviews and was very glad I did. Delicious food, friendly and helpful staff, and good portions for what you pay. Pretty no frills inside. Has the feel of a chipotle or qdoba, but much better food. If I ever come back to LaPorte, I will be eating here again. read more

I would drive out of my way to eat at this place. Love it, but beware of the nacho's they come on a pizza tin, so make sure you have at least three people sharing this item. These guys are doing a great job and the food is wonderful. read more

Another day of great service and exceptional food! The shrimp burrito is so delicious (though I need to remember to ask for light cilantro as I'm not a big fan.). The endless chips and salsa should not be forgotten! They have some of the best chips. If I had ranch dressing to go with them (which truly isn't needed) I would bet they were better than Hacienda chips. This is a place that once you visit you will crave over and over. read more

I've lived in Laporte a little over two years now, and I continue to be blown away by how great the food is at Mucho Mas. I've spent a lot of visits exploring the menu and revisiting my favorites: nacho platter (huge!), mandarin chicken salad, burrito. DH loves the fish taco. But my favorite seasonal item by far is the black bean soup. (Its back! I had it again last night!) With tortilla chip strips, avocado slices, cheese and sour cream-yum! My 4-year-old cried when they took it off the menu in the spring. Overall, great flavors, great presentation, and great prices! read more

Gotta give these guys 5 stars! Love eating at this place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My husband and I ate breakfast there recently (they serve breakfast wednesday thru sunday). Oh my goodness, was that delicious. I mean, who doesn't love rice, beans, and tortilla chips for breakfast?! I'm so glad I ordered both coffee and orange juice. The juice was fresh squeezed!! That really impressed me. My husband ate an omelet and really liked it. The portion sizes are pretty large so I took home leftovers and reheated them later. They were still just as delicious. Can't wait to go back again! read more

I would have given them 5 stars, as their food is AWESOME, the place is clean, decor is tasteful...the guys that work there are great! However, when you walk in lately there's a thick smog in the place, full of grease. They need to work on some ventilation issues because when I get home my husband comments that I smell like I took a bath in fryer oil. BUT - that's the ONLY complaint I have about the place. Well and they aren't open on Sundays! But everyone needs a day off. :) read more

We made the short drive to Laporte to try this resturant, we read the reviews, and I have to say they seem spot on, except I don't see how it rates for almost 5 stars, I save the 5 stars for something that is amazing. I had the famous fish taco's, they were good, but I have had better, seasoning was good, rice and beans were ok, but I was not overly excited by any of it. Salsa bar was ok, just regular salsa, sweet salsa and hot. Was ok, but not that exciting. We did see a few other items come out that looked yummy, a wrap, and some sizzling steak.... If I were in town looking for somewhere to eat, yes I would go back, and try something else. Pros--- staff was very friendly, place looked clean, they were quick to clean tables. The chips were good and I didn't mind spending 1.99 for them, you can get refills on the chips for free... They were fresh and good. Note three stars = A ok ... read more

Hardly what I'd call Authentic Mexican food. I travel to Mexico about 5 times a year to visit family and know what Mexican food is. This is Tex Mex sorta. I won't be back. Ordered a plate for my wife and I and it was stuffed with broccoli and other vegetables you'd never find in authentic Mexican food. I love Mexican food but don't see it here or anywhere in LP for that matter. read more

Get here right before 11:30 to avoid the lunch crowd, because it WILL be getting crowded. This is actually now my favorite restaurant in Michigan City. Amazing variety in the menu. Try the thing that looks like an Enchilada lasagna or the tacos. I'm sure the burritos are good, but I can't get past the tacos. Served with rice and beans, and some chips. They have a salsa bar, and I'm sure you can make things Vegan with some requests. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in LP. I usually get the steak tacos or the nachos. The nachos are HUGE, even the half order! Definitely shareable. They are fantastic. Prices are affordable, especially considering the amount of food you get. Have always had good, friendly service. read more

It is my first time here, and for a late afternoon linner. The place did not disappoint--for the most part. It is open air with a beachy, boaty, picnic tables-under-umbrellas vibe. It overlooks the water, a marina, and the name inspiring railroad swing bridge which makes for an interesting visual environment. They were more like shoestring fries and came dried out/overcooked. The sweet potatoes fries were a better bet. The lackluster fries were not enough though to lose a star. Overall the experience was a satisfying one and at a reasonable price. I love this place! My only complaint is that since they have so much business I have never been able to call an order in ahead of time for pick up, ever. I have a 4 year old and 5 month old, so it would be nice if I could swing through when it's ready and be on my way, instead of having to go in, wait in line, order and then wait to take it home. It sounds stupid, but I would just LOVE to call ahead to avoid the antsy kiddos. I have tried calling but every single time it goes to a voice mail. I have checked and am dialing the right number. When I asked, I was told it is because they only have 1 line, and every time I try it must be busy, and if I'm trying to get through I'll call a few times in a few minute period. Don't get me wrong, that's a great problem for them to have, but a bummer if I'm trying to get in and out. Maybe in the future they'll get another line? :) I also wish it was open just a tad bit later. So much of LaPorte closes so early, it would be nice if they were open until at least 9. But their food... oh, it's worth waiting for! I am a fan of the mucho burrito with black beans and steak. I go to their salsa bar and use the mild (yet flavorful) salsa and squeeze fresh lime over the top. When we can eat in, my 4 year old loves the kids taco, and my new favorite is the fajita bowl with steak and black beans with corn tortillas! read more

This place is a joke. The people who work here are rude, especially the "night manager". The owners hire knowingly, and keep employed, sexual predators that take photos of the female employees (who some weren't 18 yet) with a cell phone without their consent... ie, when bending over to fill chips. When complaints have been brought to the owners and management, nothing is done. They move this man back and forth from the MC and LaPorte store instead of firing him like a reputable business would do. The owner instead keeps people like this employed. As a woman and mother of young kids, I do not feel comfortable bringing my kids or myself for that matter into either restaurant. The people in the back do not wear masks when it is a must right now in LaPorte County. If you want good burritos, Chipotle, although a chain, is a better option and they actually follow proper food handling guidelines. Give any other small business your money but I wouldn't eat here unless you want to be treated like dirt, served subpar food, and possibly even be a victim of a sexual predator who is known to take photos of girls working and eating at this restaurant. Driving through Laporte, it seems as though every Mexican restaurant claims to be the best around. After recently moving in, I decided to put them all to the test. Mucho Mas really is the best in Laporte. I ordered the two steak taco platter and the food was amazing. Steak had a perfect flavor to it and the taco in all was so fresh. The chips are delicious, has a bit of a lime flavor, nice touch and not too strong. One taco was enough to fill me up for lunch, but I wanted to eat them both because it was so delicious. The place is quaint, modern and clean. The staff was doing a terrific job even though the place was packed. I will be back! read more

We've eaton several choices off the menu, and have dined in and taken out. And I have yet to have a bad order, food is great my favorite is the BBQ chicken salad, but I had my first fish taco and was sooo pleased! The folks are always awesome and give you attention right away unlike some places see you then just ignore you till they feel up to serving you. Even the new employees are very well mannered. The ingredients are fresh and tasty, and the salsas are excellent and the portions are great. My only complaint is the atmosphere, its not filthy but it doesn't feel clean, a fresh brighter look would do wonders for it. read more

Lady taking orders could be a whole lot nicer. Seemed we were just disturbing her. Food is great though. Now let me finish. We ordered chips and guacamole and a half plate of nachos. Seen several orders come out ahead of ours, including a full plate of nachos. Went to counter to say something and the lady who took our just huffed at me. At this point I just asked for my money back. My wife had to be somewhere, now only having half the chips and guacamole. If this is how their going to run things..... This use to be one of our favorite restaurants. We'll have to think about it before heading back. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and was impressed by the quality of the tacos, especially the surf-style steak and shrimp. The shells were hearty and served warm, adding a delightful touch to the meal. The black beans were exceptional, some of the best I've had this side of the border. However, there were a couple of minor issues: the water cups were damaged and leaking an the over all cleaning could be better, and I found a dirty spoon in the silverware tray.
