Nice salsa bar; however, their burritos are mainly filled with rice and beans to give the appearance of size. I'd recommend skipping the burritos and choosing a more traditional plated entree. All in all, not bad but not great. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the are that are far more authentic. read more

Stopped in for lunch this week and enjoyed some amazing carne asada tacos (steak). The tacos were large (compared to smaller street tacos) and reasonably priced. The tacos contain a small amount of pinto beans which I will ask to be removed next time I order. Service was very quick and friendly. Would definitely recommend! read more

OMG this food makes qdoba and chipotle look like yesterday's news. This is one of the best parts of going home to visit my folks. I insist on ordering their burritos wet. Their homemade tortilla chips melt in your mouth and they serve a handful of them with every meal, warmed, and drizzled with shredded cheese and salsa. Their wet sauce is kind of like an enchilada sauce but a hundred times better. This place has to survive or else I will be very sad. Love it love it and wish they had one in Indianapolis. read more

I have been told by several people this is the place to go in La Porte for good Mexican food. Wow were they right. I had the BEST taco salad ever today. The best I've ever had anywhere. Went here for lunch between calls today not knowing what to expect. I see a lot of "Mexican cuisine experts" on here that keep giving Mexican places bad reviews because "they've eaten in Mexico" or "my aunt is Mexican", or "I'm from Cali and this wouldn't pass for dog food in Cali". What's up with Cali anyway, are the schools so bad there they don't know how to spell California when they "graduate"? This is Indiana, midwest hq of the migrant farm worker, so we know a little about Mexican food. I really enjoyed the meal. I got the chicken tacos, they are easily double the size of a normal taco, very good, and very healthy. This place reminds me of the food truck wars on Food Network, and only in the good way. Very healthy food, made by guys that want to provide a good meal and work hard doing it. I'll be back. read more

I found myself in La Porte. Indiana for a wedding last weekend and can't say I had high hopes for the trip. Considering this was my first time in La Porte and hungry (what else is new) we did what any smart person would do - check out Yelp! This was the best rated restaurant so we decided to check it out. First impression - the restaurant is small and relatively medicare decor. However, the food is another story. The menu offered a great selection of Mexican food options, but our group all tried the nachos. Beware - a regular order of nachos will easily feed 2 people. The large order will feed four! Nachos can be topped with any options your little heart desires. We ordered 2 different kinds - chorizo with black beans and chicken with pinto beans. Both were delicious. Dishes all come with chips and feel free to fill up on the salsa bar. We also ordered guacamole which was delightfully fresh and flavorful. This place is truly a gem. I highly recommend to anyone visiting La Porte to stop by. read more

I live in Los Angeles and was visiting family in the midwest, complaining like a whiny beotch about the lack of cute/healthy/good restaurants in their area when I found this place (thanks, yelp!). It's adorable! It's baja fresh style, where you order up at the counter, but the food is ah-mazing. Not sure if they put esctacy in the chips but it sure felt like it! I had the shrimp and fish tacos, and my everyone in my picky family loved their food. The guys running it were so nice and patient too. Oh - they also have TOFU on their menu. Whenever I move to a new city, one of the first things I do is search yelp for nachos. What can I say, they're my favorite food and surprisingly hard for most restaurants to get right (in case any other restaurant owners are reading it, the correct ratio of cheese to chip is 1:1, not 1:20). Luckily my search is over because Mucho Mas has the best nachos in the midwest - I drive here from Chicago every few months just to get my fix. Oh, and they give you an entire pizza pan full so that it will last you at least two meals. If you're looking for good mexican food, this isn't the place. If you're looking for a somewhat decent american interpretation of mexican food, then this is the place. The wet burrito was bland and the steak in it was a bit fatty and chewy. The speed at which our order for five came out makes me believe that a lot of the food was precooked. There's simply no way you could cook and plate all of that food in about seven minutes. The salsa for the chips was bland as well, with no spiciness to speak of. I've lived in San Diego where Mexican food is as legit as it gets, and this is some of the best Mexican food I have had in the Midwest. Chips and Guac were very good to start. I had steak and chicken tacos to see how they do them, very good. Both are great for taco lovers. Rice was average. Salsa bar is small, but adequate. Overall I would recommend anyone looking for solid Mexican food to definitely give it a try. Awesome! Chorizo burrito was packed with meat, beans and rice, lots of flavor. I'm 6' 180 lbs and I could only finish half. Fajita bowl with grilled veggies was excellent. Finally a restaurant serving up FLAVOR! Huge, delicious slices of grilled bell peppers, zucchini, onions, yum! The chicken and steak are fresh and seem to be high quality. Came here with my boyfriend and family just after moving into the downtown area. Was excited to see the tofu options and fresh ingredients on the menu when we walked in, but when our food came out no more than five minutes after ordering, we had to wonder if it was cooked fresh and made to order. My boyfriend's wet steak burrito was bland and the steak was full of gristly bits. Not the quality we expected. My chicken tacos were just okay, and most of the salsas were bland and lacked a punch of freshness and spice I had hoped to taste. Also, the temperature in the building was unbearably hot, even while we sat by the door. I would have given more stars for better food ingredients, better atmosphere and overall higher quality. Maybe if I was drunk, the food would taste better. Unless they were having an off day, in which case I might give the place another try. read more

Since the first time going here my family has been back a couple times and we have also ordered take out from them. We have had a great experience every time. I had the Fajita Plate with soyrizo and vegan cheese a few times, AMAZING. I also had the fajita bowl with tofu. It was good. Being vegan & Mexican I can easily make the stuff on the menu BUT sometimes you just don't want to cook and have a nice experience ...not ...cooking... It is so groovy to go to a place that is consistently great. The restaurant is always clean. The employees are always kind & helpful. One thing that stood out to me every time was how great the employees are. With less than happy to have a job people work just about....everywhere else.... It's great, as a customer to find a place where you have people that actually do their jobs, amazingly. I pretty much have seen the same people every time I go in, and they are ALWAYS hardworking, fast, and polite. The vegan options & awesome staff make this place our favorite. read more

Arugably there are places in La Porte with better tacos and burritos but without a doubt Mucho Mas has the best nacho platter in town. If you are looking for good loaded nachos this is the place to go. Now the other food is good as well, just imho not the best in town like the nachos. Overall great restaurant, been there many times. I'm a gluten free vegan and this is a great place for me and meat eaters. I had 3 tofu tacos and they were delicious. Honestly it was probably the best tacos I've had in a long time and I get tacos a lot of places. The guacamole was super good, I highly suggest! The chips were a bit greasy but still very good. So far this was my favorite restaurant in the area. It was so good that we actually ate there twice while we visited the area. My wife is not vegan and she got the burrito and she said it was awesome! Expect to have it for two meals though. Great Mexican food, great prices and great service! I highly suggest! read more

This place is great. We go here often and have yet to be disappointed. We generally phone in ahead of time and pick up. This last Saturday we phoned ahead as usually and ordered (I ordered the Al Pastor Torta). They called back about 5 minutes later and said they were out of bread for the torta and asked if they could make it some other way for me. I said "make it a burrito." They did and it was excellent. For the trouble, they didn't even charge me for it - talk about customer service. I really like this place and I believe I will be a customer here for the foreseeable future. read more

I'm from Orange County, California where there are lots of taco trucks and local Mexican shops, and I've tasted a wide range of good and bad guacamole, but the guacamole at Mucho Mas is to die for, it's absolutely deliscious. I'm vegan, so going out to eat isn't always the most satisfying experience, but I had a deliscious and filling fajita bowl with tofu at Mucho mas. Oh hell yeah! Mucho Mas is as good as it gets. This place would be awesome if it was in Chicago and here it is in the tiny little town of LaPorte. The menu has so many choices you could come here every day and try something different. It's my favorite kind of place b/c there's something for everyone. If you have a vegetarian or vegan in your party they will not hate you if you bring them here. In fact, they'll think you are the coolest. They can make any burrito with tofu. For breakfast, they can make any of the scrambles or egg dishes with cage-free eggs. You gotta ask for em or they use regular eggs. Might be other vegan stuff but I can't remember.
