The bouncers are overly aggressive and disrespectful. They abuse their power. Even when I am a regular patron.

Service was okay, the inside was too loud and the outside patio (basically part of the parking lot) is way too close to where people go outside to smoke. The sweet potato fries are AWESOME, and the food was good. I have to give them credit for using local farms, with awesome quality meat....BUT...it just felt like it was a place for young (20+ year olds) sports fan types who like to watch football and drink cheap beer. (Even though their beer list is decent.) Again, it would probably be great for 20-somethings who like loud bars, cigarette smoke, Bud Lite and sports, but I don't think it appeals to the type who like a nice quiet place to have a conversation and a decent micro-brew . Based on atmosphere and service I would only give this place about 2 stars (MEH). Based on the quality of food (I would order for carry out, although a little pricey) I would give this place 4 stars (Yay! I'm a fan!) but combined, I give it 3. It's a locally owned business and I would like to see it succeed, but it's too loud, the staff seem very inexperienced, they need more local brews, and PLEASE do something about the smoking so that the patio is more enjoyable for everyone! read more

It's a cool bar I have went a couple times now. But I sat down at a table where they had to take my card for the whole table and within the 30 minutes I was in there I got charged $90 for someone else tab. I have been trying to get my money back and have talked to a manager at least 3 times now when I call the manager is always busy or in a meeting, this that or the other. I doubt I or anyone I know will come back. Hell give me my $90 back and I would have spent it there. read more

Place was other side of parking lot in our hotel so thought we would stop for a drink. Couldn't tell you how their drinks are because we never got one. My wife ordered a Tom Collins and the waitress didn't know how to make it. After she looked it up she told us she didn't have simple syrup, what bar doesn't have simple syrup? Would have ordered something else but there were three guys sitting at the bar across from us that were dropping F-Bombs like crazy and you could tell they would be a problem. So we moved on to another place. When we told the bartender we were just going to leave she seemed less than pleased and snatched up the coasters! Went there for a 21st birthday party. Upon arriving, my boyfriend & I went to the bar to grab a beer before going out on the patio where the party was. There were 3 older men sitting @ the bar, no one else, we stood there for 10min before another waitress came in from outdoors & asked up if we had been helped. There were 3 bartenders @ the bar, not once did they acknowledge us. Then when we joined our party, we ordered pepper jack cheese balls, they took over 45 min to come out...there was MAYBE 30-35 people in the entire bar @ this time, 20 of them being our party...the waitress said they got slammed inside, walked inside & there was 8 people total inside. Our waitresses,we had 2 taking care of our party, were slow, would bring one persons drink & not ask anyone else if they needed anything, so I decided to go to the outside bar. Upon going up there, AGAIN, waited for close to 15 min to get my drink order as all the women bar tenders took care of all the male clients first...several of them walked by me, didn't ask if I needed anything, say hold on I will be right back, literally nothing. Apparently I didn't have the right appendage to get served promptly considering MANY males came up to the bar after me and promptly got served. Then upon paying for my sun king beer they charged me $7 which inside was $6...plus the 2 that I ordered from on of the waitress we $6 as well & they got them outside where I had gotten it, so that tells me that they waitresses are charging more to the customer and ringing it in at its "real" cost and pocketing the $1 more they are charging...this place was a shit show and I HIGHLY recommend NOT wasting your time! Very poorly ran and sadly if you are not a dude, you are not gonna get served well....unfortunately for them, I am a really good tipper if I get served well. I've been here 4 times with friends, and each time, this is what we've encountered: Unsmiling waitresses who take ages to bring your orders. (15 minutes for a beer to come tonight, it was warm when I got it). The food is too expensive and certainly not memorable. The mixed drinks are extremely bad. Like, actual bad. I ordered a simple whiskey sour. They instead gave me Irish whiskey with what I think was Gatorade. The temperature inside is kept around a toasty 80. Everyone at my table had sweat dripping down their backs (for perspective, we're all athletes and wearing shorts). Bring your ID if you do make the mistake of coming here; I saw the manager be a complete dick to a 50-something couple tonight as he kicked them out for not having his/her ID. We like the patio. Bartender was very nice except for the fact that she padded our bill with drinks we did not order. We will not be back. This seems to be a common practice there. I had a great experience at the mucky duck today. Our server Ashley was extremely attentive and gave our table advice on what to eat. Been told at door to leave twice for dress code violations. Both times while scanning the bar I've been able to see multiple people inside with said violation.... parking lot is awkward. DONT GO ON FRIDAYS!! The female DJ is horriable! She obviously doesn't know the definition of "HIP-HOP". Because we tried to request some songs but she shot them down and told us that she was not allowed to play "NO hip-hop" because it "causes too many fights" yet most of the songs she was playing was HIP-HOP? She was very stuck in the 90's and since when "Teach my how to duggy" become a fighting song? And does that rule to not play hip-hop an assumption that only black people fight or black people's music make everybody fight? Because there was ONE fight that night and it wasn't during a hip hop song and the ones who were fighting wasn't even black...so I'm a little taken back by it... Meh, about sums it up. come here in the winter and expect poor service and mediocre food. Come here in the summer and you'll get exactly the same thing but you'll be able to sit on the MOST AMAZING patio on the southside of Indy. It wraps around the whole back of the building and sits on a large pond. VERY NICE. Had a lot of fun with their Karaoke. They play dance music between "performances" and keep the volume of the singers' voice pretty low so the focus for most of the crowd can be on their conversations and yet those who want to have fun trying to sing can do that, too! I am not one for bars but this place was a very nice atmosphere. I was staying at a hotel in this area and walked over for dinner. I was greeted and seated promptly and was made to feel very comfortable right away. The menu is small (its a pub) but offers a lot of items. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with waffle fries and I have to say the service was as good as it was quick. Seldom does a dive bar truly live up to expectations. The Mucky Duck doesn't put on heirs. You'll never see the word seasonal or market on the menu. Or, even anything not fried. What you will see is the same tenders of bar that take pride in slinging their beers, shots and simple cocktails. If your looking for a mind blowing steak and a great wine I would suggest downtown. If you're looking for a fun atmosphere, great service and an authentic dive bar experience go to the Duck. Also, never harass the actual ducks or other water fowl. This is the only review I have ever written for an establishment. The waitress was horrible and rude. She had me kicked out accusing me of cussing at her and threatening her. When in reality I simply asked for more of my short served drink. All in all one of my worst nights out. I hope she gets fired and sleeps in a cardboard box someday. Not happy with the way my husband was treated. As soon as we walked in, he was told to put his necklace in his shirt, which he did but that was odd. Then he was told not to wear the pants he had on the next time, his pants were cotton with elastic around the ankle, but looked very nice. We turned around and left immediately. I love this place, but can't quite explain why. You wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it, it is tucked behind Carabbas, Texas Roadhouse, and Cheeseburger in Paradise. The inside is kind of dive-y, but the outdoor seating is great! They just expanded the deck area, and they have live music on the stage outside. The menu is pretty standard, but they have great pizza and wings! They often run out of food, one time both items I ordered (pizza first, then fish) were out, so I ended up with an appetizer sampler. The tables and chairs are mis-matched outside, it has a thrown together backyard party feel. There is an outdoor bar with a good selection of beers on tap. They have an area to play corn hole with a few boards for groups of people. There is a lake on the other side of the deck, which adds to the ambiance! Apparently on weekends they open the other side of the indoor bar and play rap music, but it isn't really my scene so I haven't personally experienced this. read more

I'd never been impressed by this place - very average food, subpar drinks, disappointing service, and prices that are too high considering all of that. Then tonight I went in for trivia with my family and friends, as we have done every week for a few months now. My 53 year-old mother did not have her ID, and even though she wasn't even going to drink alcohol, she was kicked out. (She had not been asked for her ID on previous occasions.) The manager was unbelievably rude and unprofessional about the whole situation, refusing to really acknowledge my father as he tried to have a discussion with him (no eye contact, messing with the TV while he yelled over his shoulder to "take it up with the governor.") We were absolutely blown away by how everyone there handled it - even besides the fact that the law very clearly states in multiple ways that she is well over the age where an ID is required, at any variety of places of business. Plus there's just a level of reasonability you expect out of other human beings, especially ones in the service industry. Instead we were encountered by rude half-wits who I sincerely hope lose business as a result of their actions. Go to Detour across the street. Way better. read more

Don't ever go here. Service is soooo slow, it took 20 minutes for a coke at the patio. The bartender and manager are extremely rude and quick to kick people out for complaining about the slow service. My friends and I will NEVER be back. They PROFILE! Saturday night, September 21st, we had 10 people in our party with more coming in (this was definitely NOT our first time there). We had JUST sat down and ordered drinks and were talking amongst ourselves. We were sitting outside close to the pond. A "security" came over and told one male in our party he had to remove his hair comb, another male in our party he had to put his chain (with a cross on it) in his shirt, and told a female in our party that she needed to do the same with her NECKLACE (it is a dainty necklace with 2 small charms on it). I myself had on 2 necklaces and was not told I had to put my necklace in my shirt. When we asked why we were told because of dress code and it was to keep the "riff raff" out. Excuse me?! I would think since there is security at the door that when they check our ID before entering the door they would have noticed the hair comb and the chain and necklace said something then. But nope, this guy walked over to our area with attitude. We asked for the GM and the first 2 times he refused to call him over because, he said, the GM would tell us the exact same thing he was telling us. We then demanded to see the GM. The GM came over and tried to calm the situation down but to no avail because the "security" guy was standing behind the GM running his mouth. We then chose to leave; however, as we were leaving the "security" guy continued running his mouth (even after the GM told him to leave us alone) and the ONE drink that was purchased was thrown in his face. Again, this is not the first time we've been here but it will definitely be the LAST. There was absolutely NO reason for the "security" guy to come at us like he did. I believe were we PROFILED and that is not acceptable. We've had bachelorette parties there, graduation parties, birthday parties, and just plain went in for dinner. No more. They will NEVER receive another penny from my family and I will NEVER recommend anyone going here. read more
