Barking. At drop off, the groomer appeared nervous. My dog is highly intelligent and clearly picked up on her body language and tone. Fifteen minutes later, I received a call saying my dog's barking made her afraid and I needed to pick her up. When I arrived, I observed the groomer wearing noise canceling headphones. Huskies and shepherds are vocal breeds. Vocalization is not aggression. Excluding a dog for normal breed behavior is inappropriate. As a special education teacher, I strongly believe in accommodations and inclusion. However, if someone has anxiety or is sensory sensitive, working with animals in a loud grooming salon may not be the right job. The responsibility should not be placed on the animal or the customer. Being told to remove my dog for simply barking after years of consistent business was unacceptable. This showed a lack of breed knowledge and professionalism. We will be taking our business elsewhere.
