I've had a few dogs in my life, but I've never had such an amazing grooming experience. Mr Bear is a "rescue" and had never been groomed before, he's very shy and was extremely dirty when I got him. His fur was coarse, matted, and had a strong smell. Shane took his time with him and made sure he felt comfortable the entire process. You can tell he genuinely cares about the dogs he works with. When I came to pick Bear up, I was honestly shocked! he was actually white again and SO soft! More importantly, we can see how much happier and more comfortable Bear is now. After 7 years as a loyal customer, we will no longer be using the PetSmart Silverdale grooming salon. My husky shepherd was sent home for barking. Not aggression. Not unsafe behavior. Barking. At drop off, the groomer appeared nervous. My dog is highly intelligent and clearly picked up on her body language and tone. Fifteen minutes later, I received a call saying my dog's barking made her afraid and I needed to pick her up. When I arrived, I observed the groomer wearing noise canceling headphones. Huskies and shepherds are vocal breeds. Vocalization is not aggression. Excluding a dog for normal breed behavior is inappropriate. As a special education teacher, I strongly believe in accommodations and inclusion. However, if someone has anxiety or is sensory sensitive, working with animals in a loud grooming salon may not be the right job. The responsibility should not be placed on the animal or the customer. Being told to remove my dog for simply barking after years of consistent business was unacceptable. This showed a lack of breed knowledge and professionalism. I needed an aquarium medication and I looked online and this store had it. l searched all around the aquarium section and it was not on the shelf. My husband and I waited for help, I was going to approach the cashiers to call help over but the lines were very long, over 10 people in each. We looked through all the fish while waiting, after 10 min I went to the service door in the aquatic dept and I could see the medication displayed on the wall, on the other side of the door, and I could hear an employee in the back. So I pushed the door open and said "Excuse me", no answer, but I could see a lady washing supplies in the sink. So my husband took the medication off the wall, that got her attention and she got upset, saying we are not allowed to be back there. Keep in mind we had not passed the threshold of the door, just opened it. I explained how long we had been waiting and the employee (Kay) could care less. She started berating my husband and I like we were little kids. She stopped away to the register at the front of the store with my product in hand, after taking it from my husband , the entire time scolding us, saying we should have approached the front of the store for help. We had no right to be in the back area, it's not her fault we had to wait, etc..all while quickly walking in front of us, handed the product to a cashier and back to her department. Never looking at us; just very irritated by me. If this had been a minor blow off, no big deal, but we shouldn't leave a store after spending money feeling so crappy. I took my new (rescue) dog here on 4/27/23 and was impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff are. The customer service really shines, and that makes such a difference. I primarily was there to get my dog bathed, and the bather was very good at making "Charlie" as comfortable as possible for what was probably his first bath in a long time. I was surprised they needed an hour and a half (being short-haired, he doesn't need a haircut), but they seem to do a fine job. Moreover, I was shopping for a harness, and one of the staff took quite a bit of time to help me. He seemed quite knowledgeable, and was very friendly. Another staff person was also very knowledgeable about another product, and helped me select the right size, and added other information which I really appreciate. If you're looking for a competent groomer for your dog this is not the place. My dog has been to multiple Petsmart and Petco grooming salons and has had successful trips each time. For whatever reason this particular branch and it's employees can't seem to handle my dog. As soon as we drop him off we get a call seconds later saying they can't groom him because he's not cooperating. This is the only place that this occurs. Today was the third and final time I will patronise this location. The salon itself is dirty and unkempt. The staff are incompetent on the phone as well as in person. read more

This is the best grooming experience I have had with my girl Minnie! Savannah groomed her and knew exactly what we needed to have done. She stayed later just to make sure she saw the full service through. We appreciate the level of care Savannah gave, and Minnie is also very pleased! I have to take one star off for the lack of entryway to the grooming facility. It is an incredibly cramped space, and when you have larger dogs, it can be really inconvenient. terrible experience! went to select some fish today ( thursday) and after my elderly mom stepped on the first step of a ladder to see a fish that was blocked by all the equipment in front of the tanks we hear a person ( I believe a woman with short light brown hair) yell at her to get off. my mom instantly complied and is embarrassed and the woman proceeds to yell at her again that she's not allowed to be on it after she's off. no need to make a scene and try and Shame a customer for an accidental situation. lost two loyal customers today. we have shopped there a lot but the rudeness of the employees matched with not being able to even view the fish is ridiculous and bad business. the glass box in port orchard is an excellent fish store and worth the commute given this unacceptable treatment. I have been going to Petsmart for five years now with all my dogs and I have four dogs. I have given them a lot of money . February 9 I had three of my dogs groomed. Two of them were groomed by Erica. When I went to pay I noticed there was an extra $20 in charges special handling fees never had that happen before.But I've never had Erica before. I've always had Erin and she is wonderful. I refuse to pay the extra $20. One because no one said anything about the extra fees. It normally takes four hours to get three dogs groomed. That day it only took an hour and a half. It seems like my dogs were not cooperative with Erica. That is why I think she charged me the extra $20. Then almost a month later, I tried to make another grooming appointment and found out they refused to take me as a customer because I refused to pay the extra $20. So be aware, Erica will charge you special handling fees if your dogs don't cooperate or if they're old or she don't like them. They make up their own rules. read more

At the moment, I have mixed feelings about this particular store. We have had both good and bad experiences here. The chain of stores itself doesn't bother me, but whether or not I get service is kind of hit or miss. They seem pretty understaffed on the weekends, it can be hard to find someone to ask questions... If you do find someone to ask questions of, they often don't know any specific information, and don't seem willing to go find it... THAT SAID; I totally understand that they have thousands of products, and I would never expect an individual to know about every single one... But being willing to put in effort to find the desired information would be nice. Most recently, we spent over $200 on invisible fence system for our backyard. The fence itself was a disappointment, and the collar itself only worked about 50% of the time. Now, this was not the fault of the store so I'm NOT reviewing the product on here. What I am reviewing is the fact that when I went into try to return the product they were not able to find the receipt that was emailed to me, DESPITE the fact that they said that they could look up the receipt if it had been emailed to me. The young man helping me went so far as to look up all the sales for that product in the period of time since I had purchased it (which was about three weeks prior), and he said that he had in fact found a sale, but then stated that even if we could find the receipt, he would not be able to give me my money back because it has to be refunded directly to the card it was purchased with. I now have a product with a shelf price of $200 (+tax) that I refuse to resell - as that would be morally wrong since it did not work properly - but the store refuses to allow me to return. In the future, we will be taking our business elsewhere for products for our two dogs and one cat. read more

This review is for the groomer. The actual groomer was very nice and so far appears to be a good job. My review is for the personal at the desk. When I dropped my dog off I waited 20 mins outside (15 mins past my appt) no one came out to acknowledge I was waiting. When I went into ask I was told they had a pet that it was their first time at a grooming appt and they had to reschedule and I needed to wait outside. Then when I went to pick my pet up there was a man at the desk who didn't even say hi or acknowledge me when I walked in, I said I'm here to pick up my dog. He instructed me to pay at the desk, when I went back in to get my dog I asked how he did in a monotone voice he said good as far as I can see. He was short, rude and didn't want to speak to me, I think they need a lesson in customer service and how to be polite. read more

We are visiting family and our 4 month old puppy, Wheaton Terrier was due for his first grooming. Ashely was our groomer, she greeted us with such a happy enthusiastic joy to be able to groom our puppy. She even had pics of previous Wheaton's she has groomed recently, every pic was adorable. We left with confidence she would do a great job, and she did!! Our puppy looks adorable too! We couldn't wait to share pictures Ashley took for us right after she finished grooming him. Chains have such a large selection of so many things that it surprises me how often what I need is not what PetSmart has. They go for high prices on poorly made products, and too often I've had to resort to the web to find the perfect thing. A single example would be a sturdy harness, they have collars, harnesses, and leashes up the wazoo, but if you want a top quality leather harness that won't choke a small dog, forget it, the choice is super lousy. For over-the-counter health needs, too, the choices aren't highly rated. There are some products that wouldn't be carried at all if I were in charge, including a few that have been known to harm or kill animals, starting with those indigestible greenies and potentially contaminated made-in-China treats. They go for the cheapest for them to buy, then charge us a high quality price. But some of these faults are all but universal in the pet trade. So on a comparative scale i rate PetSmart as pretty good though please research products and don't assume they'll always do the job and be safe. PetSmart does have some decent-rated dog and cat foods. For dogs they stock some moderately good brands better than you'll find in grocery stores (the most famous brands in grocery stores are the worst rated nutritionally). I strongly recommend checking "Dog Food Advisor" online before deciding on the brands you'll try on your dog, because the promises on the food packaging are mere ad hype, and Dog Food Advisor is a serious look at the real nutritional values. There's a continuous turn-over in tropical fish, selections of reptiles and amphibians, birds, domestic rodents, occasionally ferrets, and most of what you'll need to keep your choice of pet in good condition. If you first need a family dog, PetSmart doesn't exactly stock them, but they have volunteers bring in lovely homeless dogs you can play with finding one that really wants you, meaning that PetSmart is more into civic duty than puppy mills and good for them. read more

I'm not particular about how my long-haired dog's hair is cut and allow the groomer as much freedom as possible as long as my dog is comfortable but it always looks clean and well done! We asked an associate some questions like what we need to buy etc. some water spilled on the floor because my son bumped into the fish bowls we apologized and the lady walks away without saying anything. When she walks back my husband offered to clean it up and apologized again. she hands him the paper towels and leaves us there again without saying anything. We Just bought a hamster from Petsmart in Silverdale WA who suffered a similar fate of dying from what appeared to be wettail. More shocking was the rude, unsimpathetic behaviour of the staff at this store. We made 3 different phone calls to this store all in the same day hoping to help my poor lil hamster. They were rude, would not give me their names or the managers name. When I informed them I'm leaving a review of them online they responded that it didn't matter. They told me to leave all the bad reviews I want because they said they make sure to contradict all bad online reviews to keep their online ratings up. I will be writing corperate next. I love Petsmart since it's convenient and I can get everything I need in one place. Their prices are higher on some things, but paying for convenience is sometimes better. When my dog got fleas I came here for one-stop shopping. The staff was quite helpful in suggesting products and not making me feel bad for having a dog with fleas and suggested ways to help prevent. They're always super friendly to my dog when she's in here and the staff is quick to pick up accidents that happen in the store. The grooming portion is great here. The girls that I've interacted with have always been super friendly and don't get grumpy that my dog *really* doesn't like to have her nails done. read more

I've never had a problem with Petsmart. I take my cat to Banfield pet hospital and pretty much buy all of my cat needs from the store. Today, after a visit with the vet, Kitty and I walked around the store and I decided to buy him a cat tree. I didn't really think this through because I was by myself and had driven my small car...I asked for some help and the girls who were working were extremely helpful! I really wish I caught their names...one of them helped me to cash register to get checked out and the other carried the tree to my car and got it in there by herself! I took my two dogs for grooming... what a zoo. It was crazy checking them in and out. People, dogs, staff crammed into tiny space. People and dogs at each entry backed up. I had an appointment, how many dogs do they take it at each appointment hour? I would have preferred a quieter time to arrive as it is hard to handle two dogs in such a circumstance. Better to go in, register them in, and then bring the dogs in I guess. read more
