The wife and I had been wanting to try rhis place out for a while and finally got there over Labor day weekend. We were not disappointed! Had no idea what to expect. We showed up right after they opened on a Fri. The inside is a psychedelic wonderland. I had wanted to try Kava as neither of us had before and the effects sounded interesting. The 'bartender' guy (can't remember his name) is an Ocala native and super knowledgeable about everything they have in there. We tried samples and settled on a couple of Nutjob Kava drinks. We had an incredible experience at Muddy Lotus. It was our first time in a kava bar, and the staff was so helpful. They let us try samples (the Queen Bee is the bee's knees) and made great recommendations. Even their off-the-clock staff jumped in to help. The cookies and brownies from the Cafe across the street are amazing. And I've never had nitro this good before - not a drop of bitter. The environment is the star here, making it a neat spot to unwind without alcohol. While the kava was a letdown, the eclectic, artsy setting more than makes up for it. We stopped in here when we got rained out in Ocala National Forest over the weekend. Looking for a place to go, we searched "coffee" and this place popped up. When we opened the door, we were surprised by the glow in the dark/black wall theme and three bean bags just waiting to be sat on. We ordered two cappuccinos and two dirty chais. I was not convinced that we were actually drinking dirty chais, but they were good nonetheless. Vibes were good and the owner brought out a water bowl for our dog which was very thoughtful. Dogs are allowed, but always on leash and not on the furniture. read more

If you're new to Kava, or an avid Muddy tea enthusiast, this is the place for you. I've been to about 3 kava bars and this place is the best yet. Immediately when you walk you're put in a Star Wars space bar vibe, littered in amazing art with intense detail. Every Kava drink I've had has tasted horrible and I expected the same walking into the muddy lotus but was really surprised with how great the drinks were. The owner and employees are super accommodating and DJ'd Christmas rap and rock remixes which was most dope. I went for the mic drop competition, I wasn't familiar with kava or muddy tea so I ordered mango black tea which was pretty good. When you walk in you're hit with an other worldly surreal atmosphere. The walls are covered in huge murals complete with Yoda (RJF) that convey a Star Wars cantina feel minus the alcohol. You might find some aliens wandering around, especially if Scotty is there for a photography session. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, taking the time to explain the drink menu and options (thank you Joseph) The patrons were equally as friendly and everyone was like a big family accepting me into their midst. The mic drop competition was very good with an amazing variety of genres of music represented. After the competition they opened up the stage for open mic karaoke. Wow wow wow. This place is located in downtown Ocala in what is going to be a happening spot. Ocala is coming back and growing faster than ever! Ocala is my hometown and as I moved to St Pete I became very familiar in kava / kratom. When I walked into this kava bar, I was blown away. The decor and atmosphere is out of this world! Literally. I love how they incorporated some horses in the decor, since Ocala is horse country! The people who work here are AMAZING and wow wow wow Kibby you know what you're doing! She brews the best, I mean best (I've had plenty of kratom/kava to compare) kratom and kava I've ever had! The owners are very knowledgeable in this natural herb. Everything is bought from the farm! No middlemen which I thought is awesome since were dealing with plants. I will be a patron of this establishment since moving back to Ocala! I'm very thrilled to have a place to go hangout and meet new people in the area. This place is very different in a good way. It's a very social place which is rare for ocala. There drinks and entertainment are on point. The only thing I didn't like was that we had a party of 4 ordering drinks, but one person in our group didn't like kava but didn't want to miss out on hanging with us. They were not okay that the three people in our group ordered drinks workout the 4th. I ordered my friend a drink, which means I ordered one less for myself than I had planned to. Point is, they got the same amount of money but added a bad vibe to our experience over a technicality. read more
