I prefer muddy water over coffee labs. Have been to both dozens of time. This place has a more chill, cozy vibe. It's bigger and usually pretty easy to get a spot on a comfy chair. Also easier to park here than coffee labs if you're driving. The espresso here is really top notch. Their iced lattes are amazing. The espresso is strong but not too bitter. They have some good scones, cookies and other baked items as well. They have a good variety in that regard which I appreciate. I've never had an issue with service, always been served promptly and with friendly baristas. It is over priced as others have mentioned. There is no disputing that. A large iced latte is almost $5. However, I don't mind slightly overpaying because the quality is high and as I said has a very pleasant atmosphere. Four stars seems like a fair assessment. read more

Muddy Water is an amazing place, its a great ambience, awesome coffee and such helpful and fun baristas. I come here often and work long hours. I love the coffee, soups, ginger chew. It is a kid friendly place. I have seen several parents and grand parents come with kids and read to them and play with them. The two reviews by the same couple below are so unfair. Those kids were jumping on a table and hitting keys on a typewriter (a show item). It was clear that the couples had come with 2 kids each but wanted to really hang out as couples while the kids were rioutous! I am a mother of 5 year old twins, I bring them here often, and no one has ever said a word to me, about their behaviour. Its too bad that they think it is ok to post bad reviews based on their bad behaviour. It is an awesome place to come get a cup of coffee, chill and hang out with your kids, and meet new people. I have met terrific folks here, heard really good music, appreciated good art. We should be encouraging places like this all over Westchester! read more

Amazing!!! While I don't live in Tarrytown anymore, the whole time I lived there I couldn't believe that there wasn't a cozy coffee shop/hang out spot in the whole town! Certain other coffee shops are the antithesis of cozy and are always crowded and noisy and gross. My sister and I even considered opening a coffee shop the void was so great. But no longer, thanks to Muddy Water. Stopped by here on a trip up from the city to go to Blaze, and ended up here because the hot dog place was closed. Super glad that it was and I ended up at Muddy Water! The place has great ambiance, with a back room with a little couch and a few tables, and a front room with a bunch of little tables where people were working or having a chat. The barista was super friendly and recommended the vegan chili for my friend and I, and we both loved it. It definitely had a bit of a kick to it which was great. It came with vegan cornbread (vegan! cornbread!) that was so 'buttery' and moist I wish it came with four pieces instead of just one. Though we didn't have dessert I can't wait to come back and try because they have many vegan options and everything here is vegetarian. I'm in love. Why did this not exist sooner?! Yes yes yes. Finally. Great coffee shop with good ambience and ample seating! Hallelujah! Tons of space and light. Quiet/peaceful. Pastries, quiche, soup, hummus, samosas, not to mention all the coffeez. Latte I had was great! Takes credit cards and free wifi - what more can you ask for? Looking forward to trying the cold brew. This place is over-hyped. Yeah it's a lot more spacious that coffee labs, and they accept cards, but it decent at best. I walked in and ordered a latte when it wasn't very busy. They completely forgot my order and didn't care that I was just standing at the counter for 10 min. I finally told them I didn't get my drink (which was $4, average for medium size). No apology or any sense or urgency. There really isn't a good excuse for that lack of service. The latte itself was OK, nothing wild. There is a review on here saying that their drink was extra hot, mine was not like that at all. I don't mind really because it's easier for me to house down, but don't expect it to be hot. They also serve all drinks in to-go cups so you really can't just lounge around like you would want to. I was scooping the place out to see if you could study there. There is a lot of space and outlets, BUT it's right next to the fire house and the horns we're going off, which can be a distraction. Honestly, I rather go to coffee labs to pay with cash just to have quality service alone. Muddy waters is a beautiful spot that has more space then you would think to sit and get work done or just enjoy a nice cup of coffee. I tried the latte and the muddie cookie. The latte was delicious- the espresso was so good I didn't need sugar. The cookie was rich and has a great amount of roasted espresso pieces for flavor and a nice crunch. Why would you charge a fortune for water? I ordered a tumeric latte and my mother ordered a mocha cappuccino. So expensive. Dont mind spending money on quality coffee, but the attitudes of the staff were pretentious when they couldn't even make quality expresso drinks. I think Muddy Water is an adorable coffee house. Comfortable with lots of seating (although it does get busy and seats do fill up) and a great selection of vegan friendly drinks. My drink was great and the pricing was less than I would have spent elsewhere. I was super happy to hear that they are now carrying vegan baked goods from For Goodness Cakes! I just wish they stocked more vegan baked goods because half of the time when I go they are sold out of most options! The only downside is that there is only metered parking in the immediate area. This is a very aesthetic or hipster place. It's filled with rustic chairs and old tables, as well as couches. The coffee and food is reasonably priced, but I wouldn't recommend the iced coffee. The iced coffee oddly tasted very watery to me. On the other hand, the Mud Wrestle was very flavorful and I'd recommend it. This quaint little coffee shop has a lot of space to study, with decorations everywhere. Parking outside is pay-by-meter, and can be found on the very street of the coffee shop. The location is great, as there's a view of the water down the hill, and it is within close proximity of the train station. I would recommend this place, if you want an aesthetically pleasing coffee shop. read more

Being from out of town, I yelped and saw that this coffee shop was up a steep hill, but close to the train station. There is a pokestop here. by the way. I ordered a Medium Ice coffee and a Corn Marsala Samosa. I wish i took a photo of my dish, as it came with a side salad. but I was busy taking over the gym. All under 10 bucks. The service was great. I signed up on Yelp just to praise the new place in town! The small but spacious coffee house is a great addition to Tarrytown. The coffee and food is delicious, the staff is warm and welcoming and the colorful seating tempts you to take a moment to relax and enjoy your food. They only opened a few weeks ago so there are some kinks that need to be worked out. Sometimes it takes a bit long for food to be warmed BUT the staff makes waiting easy with their cheerful chatter. In the early mornings a bearded man in sandals comes in and can get a bit too close for comfort, (the ymca is right next store) but it doesn't deter me personally from taking a seat, most of the time. I'd recommend the pumpkin cinnamon roll, it's one of my favorite things. They've always got tons of food to choose from. Great place, I can't wait to see what they do for the holidays! So was in the area early morning and there were 2 espresso bars so I chose the one the furthest from the main st. I figured they get a little less walking traffic yet they are right near the YMCA. Place is very nice and comfortable, plenty of seating. There was a $10 minimum, which I noticed after I paid for an espresso and a scone which was less than the minimum and no issues. As a previous espresso bar owner, I would say the espresso was a 9/10, only issue and the reason why I would give it a 4.5 (if existed) not a 5 would be the place was empty....my first time here so wanted to appreciate the espresso from a real cup not paper so I stated I would be having the espresso to stay. Unfortunately they served it to me in a paper cup rather than the nice espresso porcelain cups they had next to the machine. Yes not a big deal but that's my point, place is empty so no need to rush and not listen to a customers request. When you first walk in you get a vintage eclectic feel but it is also very homey. Great place to study and hangout. Cute place, bad attitudes. My turmeric latte was good, interesting, a nice change to the norm. Small for $5+ latte, but I love trying new things so I didn't mind. The staff was distasteful at best. The guy was friendly enough in between singing vulgar lyrics to the songs they were playing behind the counter. The female was rude every opportunity she had. We walked in about 20 minutes till close and the place was busy - one open table up front and one open couch in the back. She wanted us to take our drinks Togo bc they closed in 20 minutes and was clearly not impressed when I asked for our coffee a second time for here - it takes 10 minutes to drink a small coffee, maybe 15 if your sipping slowly. We received updates every couple of minutes that they were closing and overheard the female complaining over pretty much nothing about customers who were still in the cafe.
