My friend and I were happy to see that Mudhouse Coffee was open on New Year's Day. I ordered a seasonal speciality, Cacao Mocha, which was delicious and had a hint of orange. There were plenty of customers hanging out. The interior is massive with different seating configurations to accommodate various group sizes.

Cozy little coffee shop in the square of Crozet. It feels like the whole town comes out for a cup from here. They have many seasonal l flavors & ample seating. Pastries are delicious as well.

Great corner location for sweet treats and coffees. Nicely restored building in Crozet, VA. Local spot with a nice staff and must visit when in the area.

Came here to meet up with our florist to discuss some ideas, and she suggested meeting here. There is parking in front of the shop, along the little road area and near the back. The service was nice and quick. I did think it was a little pricey. My fiance got a cold brew while I got a peach iced tea. It was fine. I liked that they put them in mason jars if you drink it there. Overall it was a fine place, I wouldn't go out of my way to get coffee/drinks here.

I stopped by today on a trip to Crozet today for a drink and a snack! I was pleased to see such a cute, quaint, brick building in the pictures I found on Yelp, so I knew I wanted to stop by! Upon entering there is a sign asking for those who are non-vaccinated to keep their masks on and those who are were ok to enter without if they prefer. There were large, brightly lit, cases holding tons of goodies and sweets! I noticed some pretty interesting snacks, desserts, and even sandwiches! They all looked SO yummy, and I decided to go with the mini Strawberry Banana Loaf. The loaf was the perfect size, super moist, and I could taste bites of the real fruit inside. Delicious! To drink I ordered a dirty chai on ice with oat milk which always also delicious and had a great chai flavor! In addition to the crafted beverage, I purchased a Pear Kombucha from a very local place called Blue Ridge Bucha. Everything was super delicious, the employees were amazingly awesome and efficient, and there is PLENTY of ample room to hang out, or meet up! And even bigger perk is after you enjoy your snack and/or beverage you can walk right across the street and take a picture with awesome artwork!

To paraphrase the Beatles, there's nothing I can say that can't be said, but man do I love, love, love this place. Excellent whole bean offerings, roasted to perfection by expert roasters. Delicious hot and iced coffee and espresso drinks that simply can't be replicated anywhere nearby--including, sadly, in my home town of Staunton (hey, Trager Brothers! There's a huge opportunity for expansion in the Queen City!). And top all that off with sublime, informed, and incredibly friendly front of house staff. Yeah, it's a little hard to find, but anything worth having is worth looking for. And in this age of googling and Apple mapping and whatnot, there's no excuse for not availing yourself to the BEST coffee in central Virginia. Y'all who might have read some of my other reviews will know: I usually have a minor nit to pick with even my five stars. Not so with the Brothers Trager, fam. On our way to our Airbnb, a friend and I stopped by Happ, which is located inside an industrial-style building that's incredibly spacious. There's plenty of seating, along with a dedicated area where beans are available for purchase. The barista was really friendly, and we ended up having an in-depth conversation about drink recommendations. When I settled on a cappuccino, he walked me through how each milk option paired with the espresso. I ultimately chose whole milk since it doesn't have an overpowering flavor like almond milk, which allowed the light-roast espresso (an optional upgrade) to really shine. I didn't fully enjoy the cappuccino during the first couple sips because the mouthfeel of the whole milk felt a bit too thick, which didn't pair well with the light roast. However, it became more harmonious as I continued drinking, and the highlight was definitely the bright sweetness of the espresso. I really appreciate a coffee shop that pulls a light-roast espresso well. The barista asked for my thoughts, which I shared, and he then pulled me a shot using their South Paw (house espresso blend) beans to try. I thoroughly enjoyed this light-medium espresso, which was bright and strong, without the unpleasant acidity or bitterness that often follows. I don't typically recommend ordering a straight espresso shot at most coffee shops, but Happ does it well. Overall, it was a great experience -- lovely coffee and friendly baristas who genuinely care about their craft. I left with one of their limited-release coffees (a Peruvian Geisha), which I'm looking forward to trying as a pour-over at home.

I ordered the El Diablo Latte, and it was phenomenal. The cayenne and ancho brought a gentle warmth, the cinnamon and vanilla rounded it out, and the chocolate and espresso tied it all together beautifully. Spiced, smooth, and perfectly balanced. I also had a V60 pour-over of their seasonal Costa Rican single origin, and it was incredibly clean and expressive. I genuinely tasted the pomegranate and hibiscus notes, with a subtle cocoa finish. Bright without being sharp -- just a really well-executed cup. The triple ginger scone was the perfect pairing with the latte -- tender inside, lightly crisp outside, and warmly spiced without overpowering. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, the space was welcoming, and the quality across the board was top-tier. My only suggestion? Stickers. I'd absolutely put one on my laptop. Highly recommend.

We were tucked in down near Devils Backbone Brewing Company, enjoying the kind of getaway folks put on postcards. My coffee, however, was less postcard and more field exercise--Army strong, boiled on a camp stove, poured out of a percolator that's likely seen more campaigns than I have. My wife took one sip and gave me that look... the one that says, "I love you, but this is unacceptable." So we broke camp early and pointed ourselves back toward civilization. About three miles down the road she spotted Belties. Now I've driven past that place more times than I can count, back when it looked like an old house that had just given up on things. But somebody got hold of it and turned that sow's ear into something you'd be proud to show company. We pulled in, and right off the bat--you could tell--they knew what they were doing. Service was quick, friendly, no fuss. The kind of place where nobody's trying too hard, which is usually when things turn out just right. The food? Lord have mercy. Every bit of it. That's kind of like an omelet with the ingredients of a Cubano sandwich, except for the roll, mixed in. (And yes, I get that the cooking process is a bit different.) They were sitting on an ample slice of their sourdough bread. That was the first issue. It was IMPOSSIBLE to cut. I guess I could have asked for a steak knife or maybe a power tool. But, there was so much other stuff that I was able to have a very filling meal without it. The other issue was that the lightly dressed side salad was doused in dressing.
