I was able to purchase the Hunter Douglas cellular shades that I wanted. So many other companies say they have Hunter Douglas but you get something else. Mueller Interiors had them installed in 2 weeks when everyone else gives you a timeframe of 6 to 8 weeks. Pam, the owner, is very nice and was very helpful with every aspect of try purchase. George and Pam reupholstered my favorite chair. I stopped by the shop looked through a great selection of fabrics and quickly found one I liked. George came picked up the chair and in a ten or twelve days he delivered the chair and it looks great. It looks and feels like a brand new chair. I initially went to them to arrange for them to reupholster a chair and ottoman I already owned to match a couch I planned to purchase from a traditional furniture store. George and Pam gave me great service. I was able to purchase an new, custom couch and have the reupholstery done at a better price and quality than I'd expected. It was done quickly. I was looking for a decorator to install about $8,000.00 - $10,000.00 worth of custom blinds or shades for my new home. I stopped in Mueller Interiors in Crystal Lake, Illinois and spoke with Pam Mueller. She spent about 1/2 hour discussing different blinds and shades. I told her I was just looking and getting ideas at this time, as I was unfamiliar with all of the types of shades and blinds available. I picked out one type I liked and she said she was going to send a small sample of the blind material to my home. (I never did receive the sample.) Two days later she e-mailed me and asked if I received the sample and if she could come out and measure, as it was obvious she wanted to complete the sale as quickly as possible. I replied and sent her an e-mail asking about a different type of shade I had seen. She said she didn't carry that type. We exchanged a few e-mails back and forth, as I had some questions about the different types of shades and blinds. After 3 e-mails she said she was very confused and if I wanted a different type of shade than she carried not to waste her time! I was shocked by her poor attitude and extremely unprofessional behavior. I had only asked her a few questions, but it was obvious she was very eager to push through a sale. If you are looking for a decorator to work with who is patient, understanding and will take the time to work with you, in my opinion, Pam Mueller is definitely NOT the one I would ever recommend. She was more like a very pushy sales clerk on commission eager to make a sale. I have since dealt with a few other decorators who are great and go out of their way to give ideas, assistance, answer questions and take the time to explain many different options. I am so glad I didn't make the major mistake of spending over $7,000.00 with Mueller Interiors as the service I received from Pam was extremely rude and unacceptable. If she was this rude during the sale process I can imagine the service I would have received after they had my money. Now I totally understand why they only have 1 positive review on Yelp after being in business for so many years. I am so thankful I did not go with Pam Mueller, as her true colors really came through just in time. To any potential customers I would advise you to shop around as there are many other highly qualified, friendly decorators that would be happy to spend the time with you, answer any questions you may have, value your business and make sure you receive exactly what you're looking for. ___________________________________________________________ Response to comments made by owner, Mr George Mueller, to my honest Yelp review: ___________________________________________________________ I just wanted to respond to the comments made by the owner of the store in response to my honest review. The response was written by Mr. George Mueller, who I have never even met, much less spoken with. He stated that I was a client that he could not make happy. After my unpleasant experience with Pam Mueller at Mueller Interiors I discovered a very friendly, knowledgeable decorator who was able to make me very happy by answering some questions and listening to what I was asking. She was incredible. I have since purchased my new window treatments from this decorator and will be writing a 5 star exceptional review for her in the next month or so after she completes all her work at my home. George Mueller also stated that I was a "blogger" who complains about all businesses. This is a blatant lie, as I have never owned a blog or even written on a blog. I have written twenty honest reviews on Yelp and of those twenty, thirteen of them were rated 5 stars or exceptional, so that proves that his statement is completely false. Please feel free to check out my complimentary Yelp reviews on many businesses I have dealt with. I am guessing that he was unable to handle the honest truth about his wife and was lashing out in her defense, which I totally understand. Defending her is one thing, but to outright lie about me being a blogger only reflects negatively on his honesty, integrity and character. The bottom line is that Pam Mueller put in writing to me "don't waste my time" after I asked her a few questions without allowing her to come out and measure my windows and complete the sale. Maybe she figured she spoke to me in person for 1/2 hour and thought that was sufficient for me to make a major purchase without asking any follow-up questions. I really have no explanation for her unprofessional behavior. George Mueller also commented that his business has been open since 1979 and this is the first negative review. This may well be, but on the flip side, he only has one positive review after being in business for 37 years! If I were him I wouldn't be bragging about that track record.
