We were looking for tile for a new bathroom and I stopped in with my daughter to see what they had. Their selection was amazing unfortunately no one seemed available nor were we greeted or even acknowledged . We decided to come back at a later date since they were busy with their one customer. My second visit several weeks later was even more disappointing. I stopped in with my son and his fiancé, three employees were on their computers, chatting amongst themselves and not one greeted us, asked if we needed help or acknowledged us in any way. After fifteen minutes of being totally ignored we left, taking our $30k budget with us to Menards. Apparently they aren't interested in new business. read more

I just had my hardwood floor refinished from Exceed Floor. We had a little dog that has passed, but towards the end she could no longer hold her pee and we had spots all over our hardwood. Kevin came out to check on the damage and we thought a couple of boards may need replacing. When the contractor came they did a great job sanding and hand scraping the groves in the boards and found that no boards needed replaced, plus the contractor spent about a half hour color matching the old color, what a great team. This was our first time dealing with Exceed Flooring and we will definitely ask them to do more work in the future. From the moment we walked into the showroom we were treated well. The person who waited on us was patient as we looked at options. She was also helpful by hearing our needs and offering good suggestions on how we might meet the needs. The real test of a good company to deal with is how they handle a situation that goes wrong. We had a situation that is in no way the fault of Exceed Floor and Home. Let me be clear, they did everything right but due to situations beyond their control, the install was delayed. The carpet mill sent the incorrect size carpet. The carpet was labeled as the correct size but his vigilant installers took the initiative to measure the carpet before bringing it to the house and discovered the error. The owner was communicative from the start. He told us what happened, spent a lot of time getting the carpet mill to deliver the right size by rush shipment. He even arranged for a special delivery of our carpet sample so that we could work with our painter to match the color, as the painting was starting the next day. I received several updates on the situation. Each and every communication made me feel like we were valued customers. The carpet was installed as soon as the replacement material arrived. The installers did a great job. You want to do business with this company because they are priced fairly, they offer great service, and in the unlikely event something goes wrong they will work hard to fix the situation. read more

My husband and I just finished our basement, and we decided to go with a mix of carpet and and luxury vinyl planks for the flooring. As my husband and I were preparing our house to sell we wanted to replace the old carpet with better flooring. We wanted a good quality that would withstand traffic from humans and pets alike and also be water resistant. Kevin showed us a variety of options and we were able to bring several large sample boards home to see how they would look in our space. He followed up without being pushy and helped us to find just the right fit, a lovely laminate flooring in Cask Oak. For the quarter-round we chose to receive it primer in white and paint it ourselves to reduce to cost and because it seemed that the trim painters at the shop had difficulty matching trim and flooring colors in the past (according to Kevin). I took on the task of getting the paints and painting the trim with an added dry brushing technique to get the trim to look best with the current trim and the new flooring. While I feel that the end result works pretty well I think that it might have been less hassle and worth the cost to hire someone to paint the trim and quarter-round (white or a darker brown) so that it would have a fresh and unified look. To give me time to paint the quarter-round we had arranged for the materials to be delivered a week early. Kevin was great about communicating the delivery and flexible when my schedule changed. The installation team, lead by Tom, was fabulous! The arrived bright and early and got to work right away. They even managed to get the carpet and padding to the curb in time for it to be picked up with the rest of the garbage that day! Tom was great with my two dogs whom I took to Doggy Daycare as soon as possible (they couldn't take to loud construction noise). Tom made sure to move or cover items in the basement to prevent them getting covered in sawdust before he replaced a section of our subfloor. The team sang along to some classic rock as they worked to install the new flooring. With an hour break for lunch they finished up around 3:30pm (having started around 7). They were all courteous, polite, and thoughtful. We love our new floors and working with Kevin, Tom, and his team was a pleasure. read more

This is the first time I stepped foot into the showroom and was shown the section for counter top displays. I was also told a designer would be out to help me. After 15 min. the woman who initially helped me told me the designer was on the phone. She never returned again. After 35-40 minutes waiting around and browsing I wandered to the front where the designer was walking past. After I asked if I could take samples home, only then did the designer come to help. After a few awkward moments where I felt I was imposing on her time she begrudgingly helped with a few choices. I also told her I needed some options for a laundry floor but she ignored me and went on to the next customer. I need a countertop, back splash and tile floors but that obviously isn't enough to warrant customer service. I took the samples but I will now take them to a competitor and try again. read more

Our bathroom remodel is complete! Haig projected it would take 2 weeks and thankfully, it did! The most important concern for us was COVID. We were building a custom home, which looking back on it now, having lost years off my life, I maybe should have rethunk (entirely aware that that word lacks existence in the Oxford English Dictionary) the fact that I may not have as many years as I'd like with my grandchildren. But, I digress. First, we had an amazing builder (You're an idiot of you don't have this dude build your house--Keith DuShane/V2 Construction) who was more than willing to honor our request of staying local. I walked into Exceed, met by a very professional staff, who by the end of the project, I now consider friends. I feel sorry for them on that account, but they seem cool with it. Bonnie Cosman is truly awesome to work with, along with Katelyn, and of course Haig and Hawley, the owners. Exceed was there for us every step of the way. They did our, tile, counter tops, hardwood flooring, carpeting, and cabinetry and the coolest master bath sink ever. (Something Haig found on my behalf when he saw my Houzz idea books). Their tile guy is, in the ever-lasting timeless catch phrase that defines my youth and resonates with me on a daily basis, "Too Legit to Quit." Be's ballsout crazy talented. And their wood flooring guy--holy hells bells that guy was sent to Earth to perform for us mere mortals, having been blessed by the God's of Woodworking. His name is Toby. Did I call him Toby Keith behind his back because I have no idea what his last name is? Definitely. Yet, he holds no likeness physically nor social/emotionally to a redneck country singer who may have coined the term 'merica.' But, I digress. I have very specific tastes and ANY idea I came in with regardless if how unhinged it was...Haig's response was. "We'll see if we can make it work. Let me do some research." Some of my ideas didn't pan out because, well, they were ridiculous and I'm sure the staff thought I should have been sent up river to live a lonely life with a pack of wolves, however, they held their tongues on that one, but, I digress. The staff always gave me alternatives and I ended up with a kick ass house and I got to work with kick ass people. Thank God they never actually kicked my ass, although, I'm sure it may have been on their "to-do in my head" list. I appreciated their honesty about their products, as well. The original selection I had for kitchen flooring was batshit expensive, unbeknownst to us, and when the pricing came back...holy balls! (Ya know, if balls were holy). However, they were honest (not the balls...Exceed. Mind out of gutter, folks!) and didn't gloss it over. Haig was equally floored (no pun intended. I'm not great with puns.)at the price and advised me in a different direction...a way to get the same look but with a different product. Each time I came in, they had ALL samples ready in organized piles on their design table, split up by rooms, so I knew exactly what everything looked like. I stayed past closing on many nights, no complaint on their end. There was one snafu about our kids' bathroom, which, honestly, was a communication issue on both of our ends. They tried to meet me half way and we came to a reasonable conclusion. Problem friggin' solved. Exceed and our builder seemed to work well together as well. And they were available to us ANYTIME! My father is a small business owner as well, so I know how important these reviews are, and it is very easy for people to only post negatively because they are in dire need of coffee or alcohol or anger management or Taco Bell.) I don't mince words and I would have no problem leaving a negative review if I had something negative to say. So, I'm not going to mince words here--If you have problems working with these people, you need to do some self-reflection, couch time, a one-way ticket to Shrinksville, whatever floats your proverbial boat. Your family is silently thanking me right now...if you have family...otherwise, just people are thanking me. One additional comment...(maybe...we'll see how off course I'll get)--Your not shopping at Home Depot here people! These are knowledgeable design experts and because you get the benefit of that knowledge inserted in your brain matter, you may just have to pay for it. Gasp! We went to Exceed for a remodel that we were doing on our bathroom. Everything seemed great until they actually ordered the tile. When we were notified that our order was in, we drove out and picked it up. We received another call a few days later that one of the boxes of tile was accidentally not placed on the pallet and we would need to return in order to pick it up. That wasn't a big deal to us at all, mistakes can happen. However after picking that box up and starting the installation, we realized that the bullnose portion of the tile was ordered in the matte finish even though the rest of the tile was semi-gloss. Again, we took another trip back to Exceed because we were advised over the phone that they wouldn't place the order for the correct tile until we paid for it, even though they made the mistake. When we went back to pick it up, we were pretty surprised that the tile in the box was not the tile that we spoke to the designer about ordering (it was a different size). It turns out that the actual tile we wanted wasn't available and hasn't been for over a year! I'm curious why Exceed doesn't check inventory to make sure something is even available? We went into Exceed on two different occasions and spoke with designers to get recommendations and each time we were met with an 'I don't care' attitude and were told each time to "just cut the tile." We weren't totally against cutting the tile, but it created additional expenses for us so we just wanted Exceed to right their wrong. So, we took another trip there and were met with the same attitude when we asked to speak with the owner. We were told, by a girl who sat with her back to us and had an attitude, that he was out to lunch and would be back in a few hours and would call us at that point. As I type this, it is almost a week later and we have yet to receive a PHONE call. So today, I posted a comment on their Facebook page stating that I had been in and was wondering why I hadn't heard back. I also stated that I understand that mistakes happen, but that we were just looking for some sort of resolution. A few hours later, the owner Haig, left some very unprofessional and unnecessary comments saying that our tile layer didn't know how do his job, that I was lying and we never approached the issue with his company before blasting him on Facebook, that it was too much grief for a $300 order (in actuality, the order was about $1000-1100), that we actually requested they order the wrong tile (that's believable), and that if I came into his store again he would escort me out. The funny thing is, all of the purchase orders are in my boyfriends name. If we never approached them regarding a problem, how would he have any clue what order I'm referring to since I have never once given Exceed or any employees my name and he had no clue of a problem order?! He also complained on Facebook that he had to come out to measure the bathroom in the middle of a snow storm. If my memory serves me correctly, and I know it does, that date was planned in advance. I can't control the weather and I certainly didn't call that morning and force them to come out right away. All they had to do was call and ask to reschedule due to weather, we would have been absolutely fine with that! Furthermore, he stated that he measured even though "he knew" we weren't going to have them do the install. I may be wrong, but isn't that called CUSTOMER SERVICE? If that's an issue then they shouldn't measure until they have a commitment, but that's not my issue. The end result is that we're resolving the issue on our own with another company and even if I hadn't been so kindly BANNED from his store, I wouldn't go back anyway. I'm sure the owner will take to here in an attempt to belittle me and let you all know that I'm a liar and his company has been in business for an impeccable 27 years. He'll also say that we ordered a closeout tile at a deeply discounted price, something that we were not aware of because his employees failed to tell us that. Let our headaches be a lesson to you. In closing, I will say that the way a person responds in a stressful situation is a great reflection of their true character. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. read more

Get the following items in writing before sign invoice where you have to pay 75% upfront of the estimated invoice. 1) Demand the breakdown of labor costs per day. You will then have agreed to a price if an additional day is needed for the project. 2) Time table and follow up by sales person. For example, have the salesperson check in every day with you and possibly three way call with the sub contractor in our case was the installer. Lots of miscommunication because no one ever touched base with me on the completion the job. I also had to do my own follow up to get the project finished. 3) Hold them to their word. For example, if they tell you the material will be delivered on Friday or Monday and does not come until Tuesday. That is just rude and not respectful of your time. 4) Multiple items damaged caused by the installer. We submitted the invoices for a credit they said they would apply to our credit card....that was almost a month ago. I paid the bill in full. Shame on me. I went to another company for my countertops. I originally was going to go with Exceed. They lost a 6,000.00 sale. I would have ordered the material from Exceed and gotten my own installer. read more

Recently spent $4,700 to carpet two levels of our house with Exceed. When dog decided to put a hole in the carpeting I called Exceed, as the installer, to see if they would repair the damage. They would, but required a $150 deposit, which I would not pay in advance of services rendered. When I spoke with Haig on this and to tell him we had purchased a lot of carpet from him, he said he had problems with people not paying after they weren't happy with the work. Also said "there was little money" in maintenance. Didn't give me a warm and fuzzy that they service what they sell. Would not reconsider. I went elsewhere and was very satisfied. I will not consider Exceed for any flooring work again. read more

We just had Exceed renovate our master bathroom shower in our newly purchased home and we are thrilled! Exceed has a great selection of high end stock tile at low prices and we love the tile we chose. The install went very smoothly and the installer was prompt, polite, hard working and my personal favorite, SO VERY CLEAN. He put down a lot of tarps to walk on and left the work space very clean at the end of the day, even though he knew he'd be right back at it the next morning.
