This was an awesome winter hike and the visitor center was also good. The hike we did was a loop near three ponds, had a lot of great scenery with the fresh snow, and had some steep elevation gain. There were a few spots where snowshoes could have been good, but we all managed. The parking lot was large and the grounds were simple to navigate.

Nice park near cripple creek! Good place to stop if you're looking for fall colors. Lots of trails and picnic spots.

Great views and moderate level hike! We saw Greer Pond, Rock Pond, and Brook Pond. All had beautiful views and were shaded in the beginning but was exposed for the end of the hike. Plenty of parking and nice visitor center. Plenty of space and not crowded at all!

What a lovely state park, I just wish it was closer to Denver! After a nice drive through Woodland Park, you get to Divide then Mueller is not too far. We did a trail that took us to a number of ponds like Lost, Geer, Rock and Brook Pond and barely ran into anyone else the whole time. There's definitely a lot of ups and downs on the trails but well worth it plus it was pretty cool to see Pikes Peak from the "other" side. Dogs are allowed at the park but not on the trails. You get to see some beautiful sights down there, especially of the Sangre de Christo mountain range, just another set of mountains to tackle! They have a nice little visitors center with merch, bathrooms, water and tables if you need to take a break. I can't wait to come back here again in the fall and explore, aspens are a plenty at Mueller!

Beautiful state park with easy, moderate, and difficult hiking trails. Picnic locations as well. We only did the Lost Pond Trail and took us almost 2 hours to complete and has a lot of inclines but would say it's an easier trail. Very easy to navigate with maps and signs all over the trails and park.

Recently stayed in Divide and enjoyed the first and last days of our trip at Mueller State Park. $9 gets your whole car load in for the day. The trails are well-marked and maintained and accurately described as easy/moderate/difficult. The views were absolutely spectacular - look for trails marked with a camera on the map; they do not disappoint! There are lots of places to enjoy a picnic lunch, several well-placed restrooms, a small playground, and a fun and informative nature trail for the kids right when you enter the park. This is a wonderful place to enjoy some fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of many of the Colorado Springs tourist-y areas. Highly recommend!

One of the nicest campgrounds I have ever been to. This is definitely high altitude camping at 9,600 ft. The campsites are half n half shady/exposed. If you want the stunning views of Pikes Peak you're going to sacrifice the shade coverage making this park a great place to go during shoulder season. Extremely well kept. There are optional hike-in sites as well as backcountry camping, full electric, and even cabins! Pro tip: Not every site has a bear box so check the listing.

From the vantage point of the parking lot of Mueller State Park's Visitors Center, you can view the back of Pike's Peak (that is if you usually see it from the Colorado Spring's side) and the majestic spine of Rockies dividing our Continent. You're more likely to get that clear view in the morning before clouds obscure the view. It's only minutes away from Colorado Springs. I'm hoping that you'll pick up you're senior friends and/or family who may have mobility issues for a picnic here. The park entrance fee was $8 for our car. (This would be subtracted from a season pass if we decided to get one at the Visitor's Center.) New to Colorado? Don't forget to have clothes for the elevation and the wind that picks up. We just toured the Visitors Center this day, which was full of information and exhibits on the flora and fauna of the region. And there was that panoramic view from the parking lot. Up the road were the RV camping sites that are booked way in advance. If you want to see the best and finest recreation vehicles, expanded to capacity...this is the place to see them in all their glory.

While in Colorado last week, my brother took my wife and me up into the "mountains" through Woodland Park. Nearby Mueller State Park is a large Colorado park that offers lots of camping and hiking/biking trails. Now, none of us are "hikers", but we wanted to get out among trees and nature in some fresh air. A friendly park ranger at the park entrance recommended we drive all the way to the end of the paved road and hike up Grouse Mountain to the "dead tree" for a fantastic view. The veteran park ranger was right. Trails 16 & 17 are just 0.8 miles up to the highest point in the park - the stunning view from Grousse Mountain Overlook. At 9843 feet above sea level, the Overlook offers a beautiful 270 degree view of dramatic mountains and vast valleys. It seems you can see forever. Pikes Peak is off to your left and the Sangre de Cristo Range to your right. It only costs $6 per vehicle to enter the park. Since it is just 25 miles from Colorado Springs, Mueller State Park is a great choice for a day trip.

The campsites here do they all have the placement square where you are required to put your tent? Me and my girlfriend and her friend are going I will be sharing a tent with her a 7x7 but her friend has a 7x7 also I just want some info.

Every tent site has a designated tent pad upon which you must place your tent. Read the description of the particular site you are reserving to find out if there is an additional gravel area that can be used for a tent and what size. Each spot is… Read more

Dr. Rox was fantastic. Both my wife and I are teachers, and so we loved how academic the hike was as Dr. Rox would pause and explain the rock cycle, tectonic movement, or the birth of the Rocky Mountains. We were also delighted that our two teenage sons asked a bunch of questions and were obviously engaged in, not only the Geology lesson, but also the local flora and fauna. Dr. Rox answered every question, and, when she didn't know the name of a plant, she pulled out a trusty book and looked it up. She kept things light, but we definitely learned a lot as well. When we reached the end of the hike where the zeolite crystals had grown in the geodes, we climbed all over the rocks finding crystal after crystal. It was certainly an impressive site. We really loved both the scenery and our guide, and I would recommend this hike to anyone with any interested in geology. A big thanks to Dr. Rox for making our hike so fun and educational!

I live in Colorado, but I do not appreciate its beauty enough. I also never knew the story behind the beautiful rock formations and natural landscapes I pass by everyday. Rox provides context and explanation for a natural history of the beautiful sights of Colorado. Rox is also very organized and thoughtful, making sure we had water, snacks, and umbrellas. We got to look, touch, break, and collect all different kinds of rocks in a variety of gorgeous locations. It was fun to explore and engage in a tactile activity. In our modern world where so much of our lives are spent behind screens, this was a truly relaxing yet exciting activity and exploration tour in the outdoors. It was creative and fun. I felt like a kid again!

Keep in mind that we were instructed to arrive 30 minutes early, so in total we were standing around for about an hour. They had also called us the day before and asked if we could move our tour time from noon to 1 PM. Looking back, agreeing to that change seems like it just resulted in us waiting even longer. On the zip lines, you have to brake yourself by grabbing the line with one of the gloves they provide. The gloves were old, worn-out welding gloves. I had to exchange mine three different times because they all had holes in them. Even my final pair still had a hole, but I was told it was fine. The zip lines themselves were okay. There was supposed to be a drop at the end, but apparently it wasn't open for the season yet, so instead we were slowly lowered down. As for the scenery, I honestly wasn't very impressed. The views felt fairly average to me and looked like a typical desert landscape. Considering the price, I expected something a lot more memorable. I've done a cheaper zip line course in Virginia that I found more fun, with better views and a better overall experience. The cherry on top was being accused of smoking marijuana because of a supposed smell and "glossy eyes." I have never smoked in my life, so that accusation was pretty frustrating and left a bad impression on what was already a disappointing experience. Overall, I felt this experience was a complete waste of money. Between the delays, worn-out equipment, missing attractions, and the accusation from staff, I honestly wish I had never booked it in the first place.

We both have experience with this company from rafting the Upper Salt River in AZ. Unfortunately the water levels didn't cooperate but, the rafting company modified the itinerary to give us the best possible adventure possible. Day upper upper Browns Canyon which led to class I've and the use of duckies. Operation am not a fan but, half of our group loved them. We were then driven 1.5 hours away for our dinner and tent camping (3 miles from our put in). Ryan and Eric our guides cooked a great meal and catered to the group. We awakened to a mist and heavy fog, which we were served pancakes and sausages for a warm breakfast, and let's not forget hot coffee. We then departed at 8:30 for our trip down the Royal Gorge were we hit class in rapids, lots of class 3s, great geology, good company, lots of fun and a great experience. Ryan our lead guide and Eric did a great job for 2 days of providing us a great experience and memories. You have many choices but from a personal experience this is the best company to deal with. I was not initially supposed to be the adult going with. I have a fear of bigger and faster rapids....... However stuff happened and it ended up being me. From the beginning they were easy to work with. I had made a tentative reservation online but we didn't have quite enough people. However our trip was early in the season. I called after a couple of days to see if they thought we would be a go. They opted to run the trip for us since we were early season. They did keep it up for others to potentially join but no others did. Which is unfortunate. Our experience was great! They sent plenty of email communications as it got closer including asking about dietary needs and then reminders. When we arrived we got there an hour early as instructed in the email. They checked us in. Got us a dry bag and our tokens for getting the wet suit. We went and packed our dry bags. And then picked up our wet suits and went to the bathrooms to change. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. The wet suits dont have the arms and neck so you would want to wear a non cotton shirt underneath or be sure to wear a lot of sunscreen (if you are renting a wet suit. We were early season and it was recommended to us) Turbo, the driver came out to chat with us as we were waiting and gave a pep talk. Through our chat he had found out I was nervous. Appreciated the pep talk. Our guides, Kat and Gregg were professional and knowledgable about rafting. Kat shared quite a bit of some of the cool history of the area. Gregg really try to engage my quiet and introverted girls. Being that we were doing a 2 day trip there was food involved. We had 3 of us who have celiacs and then one who is also vegan and one who is also vegetarian. They were able to accomodate our needs with really yummy, delicious and filling food. Gregg and Kat prepared all our meals. Honestly we all felt a little bad we are used to being doers. It was weird to have someone else doing all the work. But they did a great job and the food was yummy and satisfying! They also had some desert available at times and hot drinks. Was so thankful that they did such a good job with the food. Sometimes places can't get it right when you have a gluten free and vegan combo. That was not the case here. They did a great job!! Our camping area was lovely. There was a little bit of hiking available. But they also brought some games that we played for a bit. It was nice and relaxing. The next day going through the canyon was definitely a lot of fun. As with most companies they do take some pics of your ride, if you want pics be sure to stop back by the front desk after your experience. You wont be sorry this is a great company.
