Visited October 19th..see my receipt. It's hard to find a coffee shop on Sundays! This one opens at 8am on Sunday. It is across from the Union Bar and Grill. It is open earlier on weekdays. I like all the brick inside and the local artwork for sale. It has a cozy feeling and provides indoor and outside seating. Outside seating is always a bonus! I ordered a flavored latte ( tasted like a holiday!) And a breakfast burrito with cheese and egg and bacon. I ate less than half (it would be a perfect size to share) to heat up later. It was really good..eggs were fluffy and I liked that the bacon was alittle crispy. Could have used alittle more bacon but still filling! Bonus Points: Mug Shots provides free-wifi for customers which makes this a perfect spot to get some work done over a drink. Mug Shots has a wide variety of drinks including coffees, teas, and smoothies. I'm not a big coffee person myself (sacrilegious I know, but unfortunately I find the drink too bitter for my tastes), so I went with one of their smoothie selections - the manga mania smoothie. While waiting for my drink, I found a spot at one of their tables, whipped out my laptop and settled in to get some work done. The barista had my drink out in no time and was very kind in bringing it directly to my table. I really enjoyed the drink and the overall ambience of the coffee shop definitely adds to the experiences. Super cute, vintage, interior and a hole in the wall kind of ace but omg their breakfast burrito with eggs and potatoes is so good along with latte is so yummy! Stopped by here in the morning; there were 2 tables of customers sitting and enjoying coffee; ordering at the front counter was easy, convenient and fast. Mugshots used to be quite good. I've ordered the ham and cheese panini many times through door dash. The last six times, I've received a ham and cheese sandwich. I don't order the sandwich because it's dry. I called to let them know and was told to call after placing a door dash order to change it to a panini despite having ordered the panini online. She then said they very busy and to call back in an hour. She then hung up on me. The scones and apple cake are also dry. Very disappointing. We'll be spending our money elsewhere. read more

I absolutely love Mugshots, such a cute little coffe house here in Oroville. The owners and staff are so friendly. Their chai tea is one of my favorites in town. They display local artists art work on the wall and it makes for nice ambiance, I love see the different artist each month. I've even bought a few pieces for my collection. The menu is yummy, before I became gluten free I tried a lot of different items, now that I am gluten free I still get the breakfast bowl and it's so good! They also carry gluten free pasties and cakes, I have ordered some for a few special occasions and they didn't disappoint. I also call in regularly to see what goodies may be in the gluten free menu. Everything I tried has been so delicious! I'm sure I am that one annoying customer that calls too often to check for gluten free, but they are always so pleasant and nice! Walking into Mugshots I thought the place was set up very cute but smelled nasty. Just old and unclean. Looking at the food I was thinking it looked pretty good. After ordering and tasting things I realized I will not be returning. I paid $43 for two paninis, a cheesecake and a lemon bar. The panini was more like a grilled sandwich made with cheap wheat bread. The lemon bar smelled like wet dog and tasted just like that as well. I am not sure it was even edible. It's a small coffee and lunch shop. I just got an iced soy yerba mate and it tasted wonderful. Super milky and teaey. I do wish they had more interesting choices in coffee, lattes, and etc. They have a few small tables for outdoor seating but the area is right on the border of sketchy and downtown. They also have paintings that accent the exposed brick wall. This gives it that old timey feel. The lose a star because the seating and space isn't utilized well. I wish the chairs and table were more comfy. (Chairs are a mix of plastic sheek looking and vintage metal ones) Fyi they play relaxing music so you can def come in to do work. My other half had wanted to try Mug Shots but said when he passed by a while ago the line was out the door. So I was definitely happy when we arrived on a Sunday morning and their was only a handful of customers inside. We were greeted by the friendliest barista and I let her know that it was our first time to their coffee shop. She gave us some time to skim through their menu and also recommended their breakfast options. We settled on a iced dirty chai latte, regular espresso, a breakfast burrito, and a jalapeno bagel with cream cheese. Our order was brought to us quickly. The dirty chai was perfect. Just enough spice from the chai and a subtle hint of the espresso. The espresso shot was okay. You can taste that they bulk buy their beans and they don't taste as fresh as I've had it elsewhere. I didn't get a chance to taste the burrito but the barista had came up to us to ask if it was thoroughly warmed through..... frozen breakfast burritos? Hmm. My bagel was perfect. Jalapenos were baked throughout the bagel with cheese also. They give a good amount of cream cheese to pair with the huge bagel. Price was decent. I believed we paid $17 for our order. The interior is pretty basic. They do have a cute chandelier that's coffee themed which I thought was cute. The menu is definitely a little crazy. They offer a wide variety of drinks and I feel a lot of the menu items are re-written over and over. Overall its a good local café. There is NOT very many options of coffee houses/cafe's in this area besides Dutch Bros and Starbucks so I'm sure that why it's popular in the morning for customers looking for that different vibe. This is little cozy place. Their coffee is really good. Not your regular crowded Starbucks, it's espresso is crafted so you can taste the quality of coffee and the milk. Stopped by to get a pick me up coffee for the road. The young lady at the counter was nice and helpful with my order. She ended up make my drink, which was find since I overheard one of her coworkers telling her she needed more experience make the coffee. I wanted a latte but blended. Since the place wasn't busy I was able to watch her make my drink. She added too much ice, so when I tried it it tasted just like ice. She did remake it for me and it was a little better but still too much ice for my taste. Maybe I should have gotten a plain iced latte instead. Their pastries looked good and it was all home made by the looks of it. A cute and cozy little place with plenty of seats and delicious looking pastries but the coffee I got was just underwhelming. I was pleased to see the cafe under new ownership after a mediocre experience a couple years ago. I went again recently and enjoyed a well-made latte a couple days ago. I returned today with my wife and kids, but an inexperienced barista this time burned the shots and did not froth the milk at all for my wife's cappuccino. If anyone has worked as a barista you know the sound when someone is trying too hard to get froth. Making the steam wand scream. I want the baristas to all go through training so that they all learn to make excellent espresso coffee. Usually the roaster provides this so their beans dont get a bad reputation. I really want this place to be better than it is. I've grown accustomed to great espresso coffee in the places I've lived. We are a local dog training company. Many of our dogs come from areas outside of Oroville for our board and train program. One thing we like to do is work with dogs in dog friendly outdoor dining establishments. This is an area Oroville lacks GREATLY in forcing us to drive 30 minutes to work on this type of training however Mugshots is a great low key option before we dive into more difficult areas. Met a friend in Oroville for the weekend and we found ourselves at Mugshots for breakfast. On the owner's recommendation, I ordered the eggs benedict. He was raving about them and I'll be damned if I'm not gonna to try something that someone is raving about! I also ordered a coffee drink. The coffee drink was unmemorable as was the benedict. It wasn't bad it just wasn't anything to write home about. You know what was memorable? The cardboard potatoes that were served with the Benedict! They were bad, really really bad. From the look, you could tell they were inedible but I tried it anyway. I'm a little twisted, I'll admit. Yeah, it was a mistake. I offered one to my companion, he ate one. Just one. Also noteworthy and slightly humorous. My friend tried to order a side of eggs and it was the most absurd ordeal. I guess people don't order just an egg anymore? Moral of the story - coffee is decent but stick with a muffin or something simple for brekkie! Service was SUPER friendly and the place was adroable. read more
