Before moving to Chico, we were told to come and try Kathy's Deli because their pho is BOMB. When we finally moved up here, we decided to go and give them place a try and it was good. They have a variety of different food options: thai food, sub sandwiches, burgers, burritos etc.. it's like a hog pog of different food choices - a pretty good variety too. The beef and chicken pho is not like your typical "Vietnamese" pho - so if you're going here thinking that it's going to taste like that , it's not. Their pho broth is very different and more similar to Thai style. I tried both their chicken and beef pho, I think my favorite out of the two would be the chicken, but the beef is good too.. I normally come here for their kaopiek.! Kathy's Deli is the only place that serves this dish and I'm so happy that they do! When I'm craving kaopiek, I always come here to get it.! I do want to try their other Thai dishes, but that can be saved for another time. I'd definitely recommend their kaopiek tho.! Soo good.! Service is decent, they do make everything fresh and it does take a while to make. They have a note informing you to be patience because it can take them a while to make your food. I got the khao piek and ate it at the restaurant. It was for sure authentic and did not disappoint my taste bugs. I took the leftovers to go for my hubby to try. He absolutely loved it so we went back and got him an order. My hubby who is very picky is now a fan of khao piek and has added the dish to his list of approved soups. Growing up in Philadelphia for most of my life I'm a hard one when it comes to judging a real Philly Cheesesteak! I know I'm pretty far away right now so I never know what to expect. It comes in two short rolls which at first was a little surprising that it wasn't on one long roll but actually made saving some for later that much easier! I like how everything was chopped up and mixed together for an even spread of toppings. Unbelievable how small this sandwiches for $10. I mean holy mackerel. You need a micrometer I know that's a technical word look it up. To measure the thickness of the meat even if there were onions and peppers and mushrooms in the sandwich, they would be overwhelming to the sandwich. The amount of meat they use is absolutely pathetic. The old owners of this restaurant were on point you could get an actual cheesesteak with an actual cheesesteak roll not some crappy sandwich. Roll you're buying a bag at the grocery store. I will never go back there again buyer beware if you're looking for a cheesesteak there are multitude of better places you'd be better off buying a couple hamburgers from McDonald's chopping them up and making a roll out of the bread.
