We shared the black forest ham spatzle ( not sure if I spelled it correctly) which is a German inspired dish. It was delicious! Noodles cooked perfectly with plenty of ham and goodness in the bowl! First time I tried something a bit different and glad we ordered this ( came specially for this house favorite). Full bar and a ton of craft beers to choose from! The place is bicycle themed with a bike shop next door. Very cool and casual! When we left it was already very busy! I will come again because I really liked this dish plus the parking lot was shaded with beautiful trees and outside had a nice breeze!

They are great and beer cheese is really unique and flavorful. I asked the server about the IPAs offered and he brought 2 for me to taste. He was right on. the Bike Dog was great. The server was really friendly and helpful. We finally decided on our order, I had the Brueben with potato salad and my friend had the spaetzel mac n cheese. Both were delicious and generous size. The place was simple and clean with some very cool wall lamps made with gears and cool stuff. I will go back the next time I am in town.

The…read morerestaurant is classified as "fine dining", but you definitely do not have to dress up for the occasion; I read a couple reviews with people who put quotes around certain words like: "classy" and "fine dining" and I felt, in my opinion, it's not what you'd think- so take that information as you will and wear whatever you want. We made reservations online due to the fact that it was graduation week for Chico State and the process was easy. We were seated immediately, the restaurant is a little bigger than expected because we were seated in the back section of the restaurant. But - definitely small at the same time because in the front of the restaurant is the bar and right next to the bar are the bathrooms; if there are people standing around the bar, there is no room to move around them. (When we were there those standing around the bar were are barely aware of their surroundings and didn't move for you to get through) Our server was vibrant and nice, he made sure to mention the new items for the week and hyped up each dish we chose to order; he even remembered that we were there for a birthday (as I added this comment in the reservation). However there were little mishaps, for example : my husband said no anchovies in his Cesar salad... when the salad was brought: anchovies. Our server took all my utensils when he cleared our table and left me with nothing; he noticed and said: "I will bring you an extra fork for your dinner." - welp , no fork was brought.. We both got pasta: I got the shrimp Alfredo, he got the Alfredo and added meatballs... I raised my hand to try to get our servers attention, but that didn't happen so my husband gave me his fork and he ate his pasta with a spoon. (Don't try it). I think our server was just a little frantic. When we got our food we agreed that the Alfredo sauce was a little watered down with not much flavor. (Had to add salt) but they did give big portions. At the end of the meal, we got brownies on the house for my birthday, which was nice. Overall, will we got back? Probably not. But- we did see a video online stating their calamari was the best thing on their menu, so MAYBE we will go back to try that.? Who knows.

It would be easy to miss this one because it is so simple and unassuming from the outside, but the food is cooked wonderfully, and the staff is helpful, friendly and welcoming. We've eaten there several times now and always have had delicious meals that have been thoughtfully prepared and cooked just right. Chico is very fortunate to have such fine Thai food.

There are more, but these are the ones that come to the top of my head immediately. I've brought my 9-12 month old here and they were very welcoming. The service is always friendly and amazing in general, but it's always special to feel comfortable when your baby is going to inevitably make a mess or be a bit noisy (they also wouldn't let me clean up the floor, which was so nice to not have to worry about when juggling everything as a new mom even though I would not have minded tidying). Their take-out presentation and quality is also top tier. Really love this place.

The menus includes gumbo (of course) jambalaya, and muffuletta as the main attractions but also has cornbread, red beans and rice, and more! We tried the muff and the gumbo with corn bread and the red beans and rice and were truly blown away. I expected the red beans and rice to be just a side but they stole the show! I'm still shocked how such a simple dish can be so flavorful, I'll be getting a whole bowl of that next time. Even down to the butter for the corn bread, everything has a touch of that Cajun magic! They are located in golden beaver distillery and it's such a cute place, wonderful atmosphere and everyone working is super attentive. It gets busy and the beignets batches sell quickly. This is a new experience for The Gumbo Shop so they are ironing the kinks out but the staff are pleasant and it's an enjoyable space with live music.
