This is one of the few coffee places in Jim Thorpe that had the type of lattes we were looking for! The ambience was spooky and cool, the drink options were unique and the drinks themselves were tasty! I got the "Drought of Pyrus" drink which had pear, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon and sea salt. The milk was well steamed and the flavors were interesting and worked well together. It wasn't too sweet and it did not overwhelm me, I would probably come back to try out their other variety of flavors! More Halloween than HP during our latest visit, maybe to draw in the fall foliage tourists. Not sure what's happened over the years as the town has expanded, but we tried a savory pesto-mozzarella scone and a sweet cranberry-orange scone during our latest visit and both were stale/overbaked, like some Pillsbury dough had been peeled apart and then rolled up with some seasonal ingredients. When I saw the map for the stores, they just labeled this place as Coffee Shop. But this place is still a magically awesome vibe. My wife got the Butterbrew (not butterbeer) Latte which tasted really good. I wanted something different from her so I got the Dark Phoenix, which was a chocolate latte with cayenne peppers and it was awesome for this unusually chilly raining (soon to be) summer day. It was a bit tricky to find this place bc the sign was taken down and they were closed that day. We ended up going back the next day which was open and I was able to order my butterbrew latte which was super yummy. The reason for the lack of sign is that the business is going through rebranding and some fans of them came up with a new names that we liked like Corner Covenant or Brewhaha Cafe or Cafe aBrewing. It looked cute and was decorated for Halloween but no HP in sight, except for perhaps the "butter beer" which was VERY bad. It was served hot and was too sweet and sugary (8$). Came here with some friends while we were in the area. It is such a cute coffee shop with lots of Harry Potter decor and comfortable seating like couches. It was a great place to relax with friends and just watch the Harry Potter movie playing. I got the Butterbeer Latte with no coffee. It was delicious. I finished it so quick. Although I never had Butterbeer prior to this experience, the drink was very buttery and sweet. I'd highly recommend this drink to anyone who loves butterscotch. When we walked in there were only two customers ahead of us but when we went for a round two, 20 mins later it took us 35 mins to place the order and another 10 to get it. October 2021 I got into Jim Thorpe early for the fall fest. It was really a lot of fun. In order to get parking I chose to go early. My group of three decided to stop into Muggles Mug to enjoy coffee and to kill time until the vendors were ready. Clearly they are very short of help and we were the second customers in line. We waited a considerable amount of time but the people in front of us probably ordered some complex specialized drinks. No worries as I had time to kill. I made it easy on the barista and just ordered regular normal coffee and two Tandy Cakes. My friend ordered hot chocolate. Everything was delicious. Unfortunately the line grew and grew and many turned away and walked out. Missed opportunities as my husband said. Muggles is a super cozy and interesting place to get coffee and lounge. I believe it's based on Harry Potter theme? Sorry- that's not my thing but the business is intriguing and very interesting decor. I'll be back! I'll confess that when I was visiting the Poconos, I made the hour trek to check this place out because I'm a Harry Potter fan. I expected it to taste similar to the butterbeer at Universal Studios, but it simply tasted like a caramel macchiato. I should have seen that coming. (face palm) It was pretty good, especially with the whipped cream, but as other reviewers stated, it is definitely very sweet. My dad had a drip coffee and he said it was just okay, nothing exceptional. We also had the blueberry and jalapeno cheddar scones. They were good, but they did not have the texture of a scone. They were more of a bready texture and chew. The blueberry scone was not super sweet, which was great. And, the jalapeno cheddar scone had just the right amount of kick to it from the jalapeno. Oh, and the "scones" were warmed up, so it made them extra yummy! They also had various Harry Potter themed treats, which were really cute and would make great gifts for a Harry Potter fan. If you bring kids here, it might be hard to avoid spending extra money buying these for them. If you are a Harry Potter fan, this place is definitely worth a visit IF you are in the area. Tips: -There is only street parking and if you go during the weekend or during a holiday, parking will be extremely hard to find. -When I went, indoor seating was allowed. There is also some outdoor seating. -Get there early! I got there at 2:00 on a Thursday and most of the quiches were gone and some baked goods were sold out. -They have vegan and gluten free options! Waited over an hour in line during the Jim Thorpe Fall Festival. I usually don't have the patience for lines, but I heard so many great things about Muggles' Mug that I thought it could be worth it! The butter beer was awesome. Tasted very similar to the one you would get in Orlando at Harry Potter World. Everything else I got was okay. The baked goods (cupcakes, cookies) tasted very dry, unfortunately. Sticking with the drinks is a safe bet, though! The decor and Harry Potter vibe is wonderful. It's all a gimmick. While it had wonderful advertising it was not what it was cracked up to be. It's in the heart of Jim Thorpe right off their main road. The line was long and the menu was hard to read. The shop was a mess and did not look like how it was advertised. We thought oh well, hopefully their coffee and desserts will live up to their name. I had their butter beer latte and my husband had their latte with cayennes pepper in it. It was super disappointing and not very good. I also ordered their butterscotch scone and it came out hot, but when I went to take a piece off with my fork it was so hard and rubbery, I think it was microwaved. I had to toss it. My husbands latte was also not very good, it did not have much flavor, just a cup of hot cream. It was very busy and I am not sure if they put the time into our drinks and food. Muggles' Mug Coffee Shop is the perfect place to duck out of the windblown streets of a frosty December day. The storefront alone looks like it belongs in Diagon Alley! Inside, it was cozy and warm - a bustling shop bursting with many Harry Potter world-inspired goodies for sale. Service was quick and the baristas behind the counter were super nice. I'm convinced they're all metamorphmagi. The amazingly colored hair tipped me off. (Be still, my nerdy heart) To top it off, the coffee was perfectly simmering and delicious as my friend and I strode out again with our drinks and baked goods in tow.
