Went to Jim Thorpe, PA for their famous autumn scenic train ride, after the tour me and my friends were craving for an ice cream, luckily this ice cream shop was right beside the train station. At first look this ice cream spot seems to be a gas station before turned into an ice cream shop, a very good spot to attract a lot of costumers. There are some picnic tables around where costumers can enjoy their sweet treats. First we scouted their menu which was on their wall, chose an ice cream flavor, then went in line at the window on the right where you can order food or ice cream, after ordering and paying you go to the window on the left to pick up your order. We bought cappuccino ice cream in a cup, butter pecan ice cream on a cone and banana ice cream in a cup with chocolate top shell. What I was able to taste was the cappuccino ice cream, it was creamy, not too sweet, rich, velvety smooth and captures the flavor of coffee and espresso, really delicious and good. They give large portion for the price, value is well below compared to NY prices. Staff was welcoming and very friendly, service was quick and efficient. Kids wanted ice cream and we were here so we stopped. Ordering was a little confusing. There was no semblance of a line. We finally saw chalk writing on the ground that said "form line here". So we did and found that we were next. Then a lot of people who had been there before us were annoyed because they did not form line there. So then a line formed there and all was well. Cute little outdoor spot right by the trains. The thing that sold me was the dig Sunday. They had a Sunday just for dogs it had dog bones in it! I was a little confused on the difference between the artic blizzard and the milkshake it didn't explain what it was but I figured it out- so the artic milkshake uses soft serve ice cream as the base and milkshake a Uses milk as the base. What added to the long line was the train that runs from Jim Thorpe to Reading or surrounding area. The prices are very fair and the service was very polite. The workers are swatting them out to the best of their ability but these working conditions are just gross. Disappointed. We were in town for the weekend to do the rail bike and wanted to finish the day with ice cream. I ordered a sundae and informed the lady I couldn't have peanuts because of an allergy. She told me they couldn't promise there wasn't an cross contamination which I was willing to risk. I appreciated her saying that and I confirm I was taking the risk. I got my ice cream and I had about two scoop fulls and something hard touched my lips and I was concerned. So I walked over to the trash can and remove the whip cream to find a touch of peanuts in my sundae. My husband when over and reported it. Prices are very very reasonable. My butterfinger Arctic swirl was only 3.75 and was pretty large! But it didn't have as much candy chunks as I would've liked. It was the first time my family had tried the ice cream here and when my little daughters had asked a few questions the girl at the register ignored us as she was too busy laughing with her friends in the back. She very annoyingly laughed to apologize. My wife and I ordered a banana split and there were NO bananas. When my wife went back up to ask if we could get a banana in our banana split, they looked at my wife like she was stupid and said they were out?!?
