A little disappointing and I am reluctant but need to to mention detail as I would hope they can work on their efforts - So : positive first : I very much enjoyed my main dish: LAMB MANGOLORIAN Described as lamb cooked in a tangy coconut stew flavored with ginger and curry leaves. It was tender and juicy, good sized portion and the sauce was tasty and richly creamed with an excellent balance of spice (I asked especially for very spicy and was pleased with the result). Negatives: Rice is bland and overcooked and the Masala Dhosa was not good - plain and soggy. The somosas were stodgy and the filling bland. We were letdown. Living up the block from this place, the smells coming into our house are tantalizing. We love Indian food and got so excited to try it, but once we got it home we were disappointed. The food was delicious. We ordered two chicken dishes, a vegetable dish, and a fish dish. We also got a whole thing of rice, two large appetizers, and a couple of teas. I loved the food. I was craving chicken tika masala for years, and I finally ordered some and it was great. The food could have been a bit spicier, but I loved the meal overall. We ordered from Mughal Palace the other night for take out and it was pretty good. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, an extra side or rice, combination platter, mulligatawny soup, and gulab jamun. Everything was ready on time. The chicken tikka was good but the chicken was just slightly dry in my opinion. The garlic naan was good of course. The soup had no flavor so I didn't care for it at all. The combination platter came with just one small piece of the things listed and I didn't really find it very platter-y. We had to split one shrimp so we could each try it. I guess I was expecting it to come with a little bit more or at least two of the pieces of everything. The rice was delicious, and the gulab jamun was also pretty good. Firstly, the ambiance of the whole place, or should I say, palace was stunning. A huge mural of the Taj Mahal spanned the eastern wall, authentic Indian art covered the other walls, and the interior lighting looked really nice, it paired well with the red interior of the restaurant. When I walked in, a young waiter, about in high school, came up to me and greeted me warmly. When we were seated, we got free papadums with mint chutney, tamarind sauce, and onions. They were absolutely delicious. The owner, Mohammed Alam came up to us and gave us free mango lassi out of the kindness of his own heart. After we ordered, he stayed to chat for a while. My dad, being from New Delhi started to talk in Hindi to Mohamed, which he knew perfectly well. The food came out in literally 5 minutes and smelled divine. I wanted to just dig in straight then and there. We ordered butter chicken, Muglai Biryani, Saag Paneer, Garlic Naan, Parathas, and samosas. The food was hands down, and I'm not just saying this, the best Indian food I've ever had. Mohammed was thrilled that we loved his cuisine, and told us what sauces to use to make it better. We got to know him, and he was really nice. After the meal, we were going to order dessert, but before we could even think about that, Mohammed came out with a glass dish of Gulab Jamun. It was so sweet and the texture was amazing. It was a great way to end the meal. As I walked out, the waiters all said goodbye, and we couldn't thank them enough. I had hoped it was a fluke, like a different chef was there the last couple of times, but now I can say it's consistently too buttery and less flavorful than it used to be. We'd only eaten here once or twice before COVID hit but this has become our go to delivery spot during the quarantine. The quality of the dishes surpasses what I remember from eating in. One of my favorite things here is the Peshwari nan, with its fruit stuffing, but the regular breads are also good. The bhajis come six to an order, with tamarind sauce on the side. If you have only enjoyed saag paneer on buffets, you owe it to yourself to try the version served up here, the freshness of the spices cutting throough the creaminess. Chicken tikka masala hits the spot, and makes a better delivery item than the tandoori, which can dry out. Lamb korma does not disappoint, and mild broccoli pasanda will please those who do not take well to spice. The feinschmecker savors the mixed vegetable avial with mustard seed and coconut. Mangalorian fish curry was one of the few dishes that offered heat, I will try their vindaloo on the next go-round.We have also enjoyed the creamy bhangan and the shrimp dishes. The samosas were good, but that is something I would prefer to eat fresh in the restaurant when conditions permit. I ordered Malai Kofta from Mughal, my first time ordering from here. I have had this dish at many places in the area, and this was the worst I have ever tried. There were a total of 3 kofta, but what was worse was that the gravy was white and had no flavor. It tasted as if they put kofta into alfredo sauce.
